Reading through the extras stuff. Someone was mentioning some of the changes to Tanks and Martial Arts last night, so I'll have to see if they have actual patch notes somewhere, as I am really interested in those.
Debating how I should get Going Rogue. Finally getting paid tomorrow for my summer work, so I can pre-order. I'm reluctant to pay shipping just to make sure I get it the day of, but there's no guarantee the Gamestop up here will get it on time. Maybe I'll see how much Amazon will charge me for pre-ordering there, as the marginal bonus from those Gamestop enhancements doesn't draw me that much.
Anyone have a link to the stances and auras the complete edition is supposed to give us? I haven't seen anything official, and I've been kind of annoyed about that, as that's part of the reason to wait, supposedly. Ugh.
*added*
Ryxx, is there a post somewhere with all the power change stuff? I love tanks and am trying brutes, so I want to see what is happening there... same for Martial Arts. Did Castle make any tweaks to Fiera Aura?
*added more*
Here's a link to some changes. Wow, he went in and changed Fiery Aura a lot... going to have to fit Burn back in, woohoo! -
Quote:Interesting, that's what I thought about Spirited Away as well. Everyone was raving about how amazing it was, but I was mostly just perturbed by the story. I need more than visuals to think a movie is great, though they certainly help.I strongly agree with this statement. Spirited Away suffers from the same kind of problem: strong visuals, good concept, nice little conceits, but the plot just gets forgotten after a while.
By the way, if you haven't read Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynn Jones, you really should. -
Anyone else running into an issue like this? Saturday night I was on a Sister Psyche TF, and the leader said she wouldn't talk to him once we had completed the TF (he was trying to "call it in"). On the Moonfire last night, it go even weirder. The leader couldn't call it in, and the last mission kept coming back up for us (we defeated the AV again to see how far the bug went, but we didn't get more merits... the mission came back up once we all exited). Once the leader quit out, I was able to call in the TF (I was second on the list). We did have one team member DC and not return during that last mission, though, so maybe the repeat mission was due to that?
Anyone else running into issues like this? It's not debilitating to the TF, mind, but it does speak to something being incorrect, and worth passing on. -
Yeah... he impales people, you know?

Not even sure what needed to be moderated, either. *scratches head* Nothing you said was bad or against the forum rules at all. Unless using the wrong word=deletion is in some extremely small type I missed somewhere?
Thought it was kind of funny, too! -
Quote:Ummmm, you don't know that, none of us do. City of Heroes 2 was recently copyrighted, but that could have been for any number of reasons, not necessarily a sequel. And any sequel would be a good ways out even if it is being worked on. CoX has received plenty of updates and changes while they have been working on Going Rogue, so a lot of what you say doesn't add up.The discussion to allow a not linked Cape to Aura mish is good reasoning. Very much doubt that will change at all though. They are about to push forward the next expansion....
Plus they are working on Part 2 of this game as we speak...so I doubt they will make many more changes from here out.
Quote:I would think most of one's toons over the level of 40 already got their Aura and so, the complaint that the Rep is offering the new cape mission is moot.
And any toon under 30 is only going to come across the new cape mission.
This only affects toons that were between 30 and 40 when the change was implemented. It's not like "I have to bring my 70 alts through a new cape mission!"
But you know, the Devs hate toons in their 30s! And want to exploit them!! -
Might also have been one of the entrances in the parking garage area. If you follow the road to the west when you enter Faultline (which should be to the right, as you are facing south when you enter Fautline), that road will go down to the parking garages. Good to know when you're looking for Vahzilok for the Numina Task Force, too.

You should go to the Scrapper forums and discuss your build, as they can help you out more. It will also hepl you if you get Mid's Hero Designer or use the online build planner you can find at the paragonwiki, as that will give you a better idea of things (and give them more ways to help you).
In general, Tough can help characters survive longer, as Smash/Lethal damage is prevalent in the game, and present in most attacks enemies will hit you with. Tough can help a Shield Defense scrapper survive longer, as your primary provides you mostly with +defense and +hp, so this offers you another layer of survivability. -
Quote:Which one? There were two made for TV movies, though the last one left an opening for more. I was kind of iffy on where the movies went, so I'm not sure I'd want them to keep going, personally.I'm still waiting for the promised Pretender movie.
Off topic, I know...
Kind of the same thing for Quantum Leap. The show finished a long while ago, and if it's not going to have the same characters (or different actors in their roles), I don't want it or need it. -
I dunno. Seems like it's more of a genre than anything, and sometimes they get more in vogue than at other times. Westerns haven't been around as much as they used to, but they still get made, and there are good ones out there. There have been superhero movies off and on for a long time now, with a current upsurge. We'll see how that keeps going.

I think you mean sexists... because if they were misogynists, they'd be more likely to go after her and kill her, I think.

Quote:Yeah, those are good, too. Revenant Hero Project can get to you, if you read and think about it. Paths of the Dark is pretty good as well... forget who gives that in the 30s range.Everyone should run Crimson's very long story arc "World Wide Red" on at least one character. This is a rather wild ride against Malta that is famous mostly for summoning the Kronos Titan as an ambush, a giant monster. Defeating it gives you a badge, and it's a good way to get together with people on your server.
Crimson has another mini arc that starts with "Rescue Candice Boxer from the Malta Group" that is one of the more poignant pieces in the game.
I'm also a fan of Gordon Stacy's "Revenant Hero Project" story arc.
Can't recall if anyone has shouted out for the RWZ stuff. Lady Grey, yes, but the story arcs are quite good as well. Neglected to talk about that in my overview of zone story arcs earlier. Good stories, variety of missions and enemies, etc. Just remember that Vanguard have higher (and longer range) perception, so they aggro easily and from farther away, as well as having some potent debuffs that make some melee types cry. -
Also, Thunderstrike doesn't do much damage as an AOE. It mostly just knocks back surrounding foes (chance for it), with some paltry damage thrown in. My E^3 Blaster has to have a closeby minion about dead if Thunderstrike's splash damage is going to drop them. I think of it more as an ST attack with benefits to the surrounding area.
On topic, the verdict on War Mace is that it is now awesome. It used to have a lot of issues, and those have been removed thanks to BAB and Castle's work. It does good ST and AOE damage, as well as having decent mitigation from its stuns and KD. The animations are faster than they used to be, though it still feels like you are swinging around something heavy (set looks better with a Mace than a baseball bat, imo). I would highly recommend the set. I enjoyed it before the buffs, and it is fantastic now.
No need to go to the Brute forums for that. We had a massive "Buff War Mace!" thread that had its dreams come true here on the Tanker forums, after all. -
I don't recall if they did, but if so... double ugh. Nothing against Leia, mind, but that would take a little something away from Luke's character and what he did, to my mind. It would also make one wonder why Vader and the Emperor ignored her so much.

What's your playstyle? Do you like standing out of melee, or do you like being able to mix it up a bit? I would think you're fine with the latter, given your En/En, but I don't want to assume.
Elec/Elec/Elec was pretty fun and different for me. You could hold a lot of stuff, end drain, blast, and scrap. Pretty versatile and played different from my AR/En even (who also used Hurdle and Combat Jumping to leap in and out of melee), and especially my Archery/Devices (who hovers out of melee or uses cal trops to stay that way). I'd also recommend Archery a lot. Very fun set: love the "thwip! thwip!" sound it makes, too. -
Quote:I'd like to see a higher chance to Stun on some other attacks than Eagle's Claw and Cobra Strike, but using the two in conjunction is a guaranteed stunlock. Hardly any Paragon Protectors my MA/Regen faced were able to use their Tier 9 because of their pairing, which was great. So it is possible, though I know not everyone likes Cobra Strike.I'd be happy for MA to get these. I have two level 50 MA characters and I'm not really enjoying either because of three reasons:
1) MA has relatively low ST DPS
2) It also has low AoE DPS
3) Secondary effects are inconsistent so I can't even properly "stunlock" enemies or anything.
Hopefully if there are any tweaks to MA with GR they will keep the feel of the set, as that's great right now.
To the OP, my MA/Regen has been a blast. Regen is nice with MA as it doesn't cause redraw, and most of MA's animations are fast (.83 seconds to 1.67 sec), so discount what was said earlier on that score. Besides, if you're having issues dying in the 2.53 seconds Eagle's Claw is animating... you need to rework your build and/or your playstyle.
MA's KB and ability to stunlock help with alphas, which are Regen's biggest issue, usually. -
Hey all, I'm a little ways out from the Ancillaries on my DM/WP Scrapper, but I'm wondering if I should grab Night Fall or Tenebrous Tentacles. Just as an fyi, I'm trying to diversity this build's approach from my usual grabbing of Tough and Weave, so I'm trying to utilize fears and as many to-hit debuffs as possible for mitigation (almost all of my other Tanks and Scrappers have these).
I'm further confused by powers listings on City of Data and Mid's. Mid's says Tenebrous does more damage, but CoD says that Night Fall does more. Both seem to do the same to hit debuff, but Tenebrous immobilizes its targets, which may or may not be a good thing. I'm thinking either would be better at the start to cut down on return fire, so the immobilize might not be good if they're spread out. But if it does do more damage, Tenebrous might be a better choice all the same.
Any thoughts out there on the subject? -
Eh, I recall her not having been training in that novel trilogy. Still. That was silly, too, I thought, but to have her disarm Luke... Oy. Not good still.

Quote:You're missing the point. It's requiring a mission that doesn't need to be required. Whether you complete it or auto-complete it, it should be optional. You dont HAVE to do the mission. You can auto complete it and still earn the cape.
I know it's not that big of a deal, but it's a little annoyance. And annoyances are bad when you're playing a game and trying to have fun. -
I like fighting Dr. Vahz. I dislike being debuffed and having flies about me, however, so I tend to skip it. I found it fun when I played it through as Grey Pilgrim way back at the game start, but I have no desire to do it again (I got annoyed when I accidentally had a character go through it again recently just to see the map, heh).

That's... weird. UAC is User Account Control, is it not? Seems like I should be counted as an admin that way with anything I open up. Oh well, good to remember.
-
I don't really get it either, and I thought we used to have the option to not do the cape mission and do the aura mission if we so chose. I seem to remember doing it, as this new setup is odd to me. I find it annoying as well, and rather wish they would change it.
A bit heavy on the angst from everyone on the issue in this thread, though. Can't we all get along?

Quote:Meh, such purists are ignoring the methodology that many libraries and bookstores use. Sci-fi and fantasy both explore unreal worlds to examine the human condition and show it in a light that "regular" fiction usually cannot, so they're usually interchangeable, even if people don't always recognize this at first glance of their settings. There's a reason a lot of purists don't consider Star Wars to be science fiction.
It's a fantasy story that happens to be set in space. There's wizards and a princess and a black knight. The core of what the story is revolves around defeating evil and self redemption.
Contrast to what a science fiction is supposed to be about, using technology and future developments to examine the human condition.

For the Lando and Han capability thing, they do have some background on the subject, and the Rebellion will take who they can get that seems capable. The movies offer just enough to show this to us, as showing us their resumes would be plain boring. -
Wow... tough ones. Not sure how quickly I would have gotten some of those.
Heh, I rather like the Sam's Video Games one. Would have been tough to figure out, but it's quite funny.
