Tough

I'm just wondering if Tough is really worth taking.

I have a lvl 41 EM/SD scrapper and am wondering if taking Tough is one of those powers that most people think are a must for a scrapper. Well, actually for any melee character.

Thanks for any replies.

You should go to the Scrapper forums and discuss your build, as they can help you out more. It will also hepl you if you get Mid's Hero Designer or use the online build planner you can find at the paragonwiki, as that will give you a better idea of things (and give them more ways to help you).

In general, Tough can help characters survive longer, as Smash/Lethal damage is prevalent in the game, and present in most attacks enemies will hit you with. Tough can help a Shield Defense scrapper survive longer, as your primary provides you mostly with +defense and +hp, so this offers you another layer of survivability.

Tough isn't great, but it's a pre-req for Weave, which... also isn't great but adds some extra defense points bringing you ever closer to the sought-after "Soft cap".

Take it, put an extra slot in it, add two Res/End enhancers and you'll be set.

Oh, and Crimson demands you play this arc-> Twisted Knives (MA Arc #397769)

And don't forget the +3% def IO's that go in resistance powers...

For what it's worth, I take Tough on all my Scrappers, and Weave on all but my SR Scrappers(with end builds that is).

I like to use it on some builds for the Set IO possibilities, bonuses and uniques.

In general, I think the decision on whether to take Tough depends on the character; what AT, primary/secondary, and what the player plans to do with it.

I do think it would be a good choice for a Shield Scrapper, though, for a couple of reasons. First, Shield Defense has some S/L resistance in Deflection, and Tough will stack with that. But even more importantly, as others have mentioned, getting Tough opens the way for Weave, which is extremely useful for any defense character, and could put you in reach of the defense soft-cap.

Great!

Thanks for all the advice. I went with Tough and the char runs a little better with it, so I'll stick with it and then take Weave as well.

Thanks again.
