It's a fight that requires movement of melee ATs (well, probably), which is a good thing. If you want to sit there and take all her debuffs, some of which are patches or time based, you're welcome to it, but you'll be better off moving off.
On my Fire/Fire Tank, depending on how well her hits land (good old defense makes this random), I can usually get her down most of her health before it make sense to move out of a Freezing Rain patch. The worst time, I had to back off so I could have my powers recharge faster and get Healing Flames back.
My Scrapper that is still leveling has a harder time, but he's only in his 30s. He's fallen back on ranged attacks for some of the encounter when the damage gets too high. -
Hey, didn't seem to go badly to me at all. Few defeats, of course, but never threw us off completely. Had fun and somehow had 9 shards drop for me, yikes!
-
Are you just suggesting a change to how buffs are registered, Dechs? Because debuffs already do add to aggro (for the targets affected). Taunts, etc., do overwhelm that aggro, but that's as it should be, I would say.
I wonder how easy a system would be to add aggro to buffs, however. As far as I know, debuffs only work on the targets affected: I'm not sure how you could get enemies to notice people healing or buffing in another way. I suppose it could be a variation on that one power Ghoul lieutenants can cast on you, which ups your threat rating (or is it how much aggro you generate?).
Not sure if it's strictly needed, or that worthwhile, though. People seem to have more issues activating their buffs than debuffs, anyway. I know it's what keeps me from using most sets that require repeated buff activation. I'd rather see a little more ingenuity over how mobs are aggroed, or have patrols alert nearby mobs, etc.
And some of that is already being done: the new Going Rogue missions have a lot of ambushes triggered by you completing an objective of some sort. -
Quote:Well, there have been a few grousing threads out there about Blasters (for some reason). So I think that this was in response to those, even if some of the claims are rather over the top here (but there were some over the top claims in other threads going the other direction, too).I don't recall anyone, on the forums or ingame, ever saying Blasters are worthless.
To use this thread to now say a Blaster can outlive a Scrapper, Brute or Tank in any/all situations outside of AE...........
on top of that we have Rodion saying Defiance may be or is the best mez protection in the game?.........
it sometimes amazes me how some folks can be so shameless.
Electric, for what it's worth, I think ranged damage really is a big bonus, and love that aspect of Blasters. Their surging, pedal to the metal aspect is also quite fun for me (and I know a lot of other people). There are pros and cons to every AT out there: and that's the way they need to be. -
Well, weird. I kept having the issue, and figured I would reverify the files, and now things work for me. Not sure why that didn't work for others, though.

I think he's more difficult on a melee AT, as it's harder to deal with his bifurcations without range. I think I brute forced him and dropped a few bifurcations the first time I did it with my Fire/Fire Tank, but my other meleers had a harder time... I usually pulled him to the hallway for them, actually.
Teams can roast him easy, and my ranged types mostly have to worry about the damage he tosses out, not getting him low enough. -
This is happening to me now with the new patch or whatever is happening today (Saturday), presumably with fixes to the Winter Event? Sometimes I get that message trying to get in to the server list, other times I can't get in to Victory or Champion.
And whenever I try to open City of Heroes again, it seems to re-DL a patch and apply it. Every time. Anyone know what the heck is going on? -
Awww, shucks. I was going to try for one of these tonight before the Hami raid. Not sure if I'll get interest if people can do it tomorrow night, too. And you're more organized with this than I am.
-
Yup, I've been so confused when they keep adding to that level range: there is a LOT of stuff to do there (and some of the original arcs are actually pretty good), and we need more in the +30 game for sure, both sides. I'd also put in a plea to unattach contacts from doing newspaper missions redside, as I hate that requirement, but I'd still be yoked into doing them because of the accolade needs there.
Boy, I can't imagine why I prefer blueside, at all.Need to get my villains to Rogue status so they can run around and do other things when they want to.

Quote:Yup, Burn is a no brainer to take again, and thankfully, it's not so overpowered that you have to fear that it is going to be nerfed. Castle put it right in the sweet spot where it is an excellent AOE (and ST attack, actually: pop it out while fighting a Boss, EB, or AV, and it's worth it) but not in territory where you would fear it's going to be nerfed. That has been changed. (Among other things.) Burn's a must-have, IMHO.
Inherent Stamina makes some one-slot powers more desirable (just so you can keep spreading those slots around,) and some powers that get away with one slot were recently made very useful - like Temperature Protection. And with not having to fit in Fitness, it's a bit easier to fit those into a build.
(And I need to get my Fire/Fire leveled a bit more. It's been languishing. I've run Fire/other things enough, and IMHO the new Burn (and FE) helps Fire/EM - but I don't think I've gotten my Fire/Fire past the late teens. Busy with other stuff)
Looking forward to seeing what changes.
I have a lot more single slot things now than I used to. Picked up Recall Friend, as I've found it to be wanted/useful on plenty of teams (and I could slot the Winter's Gift -slow in there and free up a slot elsewhere). With the Cardiac Alpha Slot, I can one slot Maneuvers with a LotG +recharge and not be puffing for air, not to mention upping my damage resists decently.
I really am going to get in there and update this, but I'm partially waiting for Mid's to get the Alpha Slot added in there, and also for my school's semester to get done. Only have time for my own writing and teaching: not a whole lot of time to even play the game or other fun things.
Quote:Great guide, I have a /FA brute and IOed it is a very sturdy build. Most folks on the brute boards sum the set up as "run in/attack/die/RotP", but RotP doesn't get as much use as I imagined it would... even on x8 maps with groups like malta.
I didn't read through all the responses, but the -one- thing for me that doens't make sense is its low cold resist values. You would think that a character engulfed in FIRE would shrug off cold attacks with ease.
It's not as resilient as some, of course, but people seem to think it's not all that sturdy (like you said) which isn't the case at all. -
I'm still rather amazed that the Metrodome collapsed like that. It's not like it hasn't made it through a lot of other blizzards and ice. I can recall a slight bit of the roof falling... in the late 80s or early 90s during a storm, but that's it.

Would depend on the day and time, I'd be up for this. I'm not sure having a group is going to be the wisest, given all the varying schedules people have, but whatever floats your boat!
-
Probably should be doable, though all the EBs and level 54 damage flying around would be challenging. Might be willing to try it if I can finish getting an alpha slot on my one Incarnate level Blaster that I want to run with currently.

Creepy. I'll hopefully be around this Saturday for the raid, especially since I missed out on this last Saturdays. I'll bring my Controller, since it sounds like it was needed? Can always switch to a Blaster or Tank if there is more need there.

Minnesota did indeed get plastered. The south side got ice before it as well (not to mention northern Iowa), meaning I was long delayed in getting back from my funeral on Saturday.
Twin Cities had the fifth biggest snowfall on record in a single day, something like 21 inches. Not as big as the Halloween blizzard (or the one in January the year after), but it was still nutty.
And ummm, oh yeah. I'm still here. I was here a year and a half ago and more, I guess. -
I pretty much like to keep myself at the resist cap while the towers are up as well, besides defense at 75% while the blue tower is up. Even then, I've had the cheater drop my health like crazy: more than Healing Flames can keep up with. It's a good idea to give a tank support when they're facing a tower buffed Recluse (and by that I do mean heals... shields and such are nice, but he can and does land hard hits). Once the damage and accuracy ones are down, he's not so rough.

Quote:I've had more luck pulling Trapdoor to the corridor. Knocking him in the lava doesn't help much for me, as he keeps hopping out, and he kept spawning in clones within LOS, even down below. Might have just been my bad luck (I've seen him spawn them below when he's up top), but that's my experience.I managed to unlock the Alpha on about 12 alts but only managed to slot it on 4 so far.
Trapdoor is easy if you have KB and I found the Nemesis Staff useful in knocking him into the lava where he quickly died. Mostly dropped the RWZ mission after doing it on my main.
The new TFs are fun and challenging. People seemed really frustrated with Apex but I think once they adjust tactics it will not be a problem. The loudest complaints came from tanks who said they felt useless on the last mission. A tank can contribute in the last mission either by taunting the mobs away from the squishies or by taunting BM out of the blue spots so other melee can get in close to attack her. If you're used to turning on granite and auto taunting Recluse while AFK then I can understand how the BM encounter might be frustrating. Ninja run is my new favorite power for the BM fight.
People regularly failed other TFs when they were first released but we eventually adapted and can breeze through any TF now.
Tanks and melee are okay on the Battle Maiden encounter if they learn to joust. I admittedly did not do a good job of moving Battle Maiden around the map on my run, but she tended to not want to close to melee with me, and I didn't want to get her in tight to a corner. Though if melee types are jousting, hopefully shouldn't be too many nanite strikes right by her.
Wow... did not think too much about how Granite is screwed for that encounter, like MMs. That's a rough fight if you can't move.
Going to have to give that and Tin Mage another try later. I have to run down to my wife's family for a few days, as her grandmother is really sick... things aren't looking good.Lost one of my grandmas this summer as well, it's that time of life for us. *sighs*

Quote:Hmmmm, where did you hear about the Ultra-rare bit? Hadn't read that anywhere myself. Helps me out a bit if that really is the case. Ugh, the question is when to stop running TFs with my main and toss my blaster and controller some so they can work on alpha slots. You can craft down either side of the tree and not worry about the closing one side off.
You craft the first enhancement, and that opens up the next two. When you craft one of the uncommons, you lose the first slot, so you craft the first boost again, and then you'll be able to craft the other uncommon. That's what we know.
We also know that to craft the Ultra-rare you'll need any two rares.
My guess is that to craft one rare, you'll need to use two uncommons.
So it won't hurt at all to get the End/Res first, and it'll probably be something you need to use in the future anyway.
Yeah, I added on Maneuvers to my Fire/Fire, and before Cardiac, I had to choose between that and Tough... now, it's all toggles on and no issues. Pretty much only need Consume for the darn end drainers out there. -
Need to go back and update my guide. Can't finish until they update mids for the Alpha slot, but I can at least chat things over, as there are a lot of new things for Fiery Aura and Fire/Fire types to think over.

What did we have more of on Saturday? I can bring a Blaster next week, or my Earth/Storm Controller. Not sure which would be more help.

I got it down for the last bit we were trying, and I think some of us did, but part of the problem was people just were not moving well, and our ranged damage died far too much. Before we had most of the swords and warriors under control, that made sense, but after... I'm not sure what the problem was. Nanite swarms are certainly annoying (and I would say a bit over the top), but they shouldn't have been neutering our damage output so much.
I would highly recommend anyone get used to jousting and not attacking in a long chain: we're probably going to see more encounters that require out of the box thinking, rather than a standard DPS slog (and that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's not entirely WoWish, as one teammate kept complaining).
After the initial issues after she came back, I did not have very many nanite swarms go after me, and I was able to time my taunts, damage (melee and ranged), as well as movement so I was hitting her a fair amount and not touching any swarms.
There is a decent guide to this TF in the guide section right now (by a fellow Victoryite!) that I would recommend reading. Pretty much covers all our issues: power patches that look like the nanite swarms should be recolored, extra tanks or melee should remove most of the swords and warriors, and how to not get caught in a swarm as you bring the hurt on Battle Maiden. If we had been able to adjust to that all as a group, we could have done it. I also forgot to mention using envenomed daggers: I noticed that we started adding on damage when I managed to use mine and we had more than just me attacking her. -
Darn, wish my Dual Pistols Blaster was at 50, but he's 35. Guess I'll have to make western work for someone else, if I feel up for it next Saturday. It was fun joining in for the last 20 minutes, so thanks for letting me join in.

Cute. Reminds me of when we got a puppy when I was in 8th grade... she hid in a little crack between seats of our minivan, and when she got older, she could hardly fit her nose in there, heh.
