Quote:Rubberlad, those are all...uh...SERIOUSLY good ideas. Don't know how feasable they'd be programming or design wise, but thematically they're good, sound, and have a wide appeal. In a nutshell? I'd buy:
Cosmic Space pack
- astronaut, space pirate and martian costumes
- Temp power: gravity/space walk something or other
Deep Sea pack
- sailor uniform, wetsuit/deep sea diver costumes
- Temp power: some kind of "water surface only" travel power (surfboard, summon dolphin, or ride a jet ski)
Feature Creature pack
- classic monster costumes (werewolves, mummies, zombies and fanged vampires, etc)
- Temp power: "Premature Burial" trap (hold/immobilize heroes in a free-floating casket)
All just wishful thinking, I guess.
Honestly. No snark. Those're pretty snappy man.
I hereby nominate you to be hired as Paragon Studios' Booster Package Designer. HUZZAH! -
Quote:<golf clap>Taking a step out of genre and into Babylon 5.
How about the character, who was unelected, came into his position through dubious means, and acted without accountability to anyone. Had a secret organization who did his bidding, and were completely willing to die for him.
The launched a war against an alien race, and smuggled weapons of mass destruction for use against a civilian target (a city) under the guise of peace negotiations.
That is Captain John Sheridan...
There is a huge space of story to be opened up by having the Preatorians be ambiguous rather than the Goatee versions. I am looking forward to it.
WELL done, sir. Absolutely no snark intented. You are exactly correct and would be a great thing to explore in our middle-aged cape and mask computer game. I think a story arc or three that used this idea would be quite welcome around here.
Bravo, Cat. -
Quote:<snerk>Nemesis really doesn't exist in Praetoria.
Which is, of course, the real Nemesis plot. After all, what could be more disruptive to Lord Nemesis than another Lord Nemesis? The amount of cross-plotting involved would be stupid and insane. That's why Lord Nemesis used Portal Corp's technology to ensure that in Praetoria, he would never realize his true genius.
Naturally this will be undone, because not even Lord Nemesis can stand in the way of the genius of Lord Nemesis.
Funny...but in the process you bent my head and it hurts. A pox on you.
Ow. -
Word.
BTW, "Justice League: The Nail" and "Another Nail" are two of my favorite Elseworlds. Just excellent, excellent stories.
Oh thanks to the OP of this thread. You can count me among those who had a more "Crime Syndicate" mindset for Pratoria to The Phalanx's "Justice League". It's nice to see it's more nuanced than that...
...but still evil. (dun-dun-DUN!) -

Who are you and what have you done with ANGRY Citizen?
All kidding aside, congrats on your studies. Welcome back and I'm glad you're enjoying the Freakend. When things calm down a bit for you personally and professionally, we'll be waiting for you to return again.
Me? I'm gonna work on my main villain on Infinity and inch my way closer to a VEAT! -
Quote:You are called TWISTED Toon, y'know...They do? Funny, I didn't notice. I have just as much fun playing my level 1s as I do my level 50s, and all the levels in between. I didn't realize I had to have a reason to get to 50 other than I get experience for beating up the bad/good guys and foiling their plots. I must be doing it wrong.
Well twisted or not ITA with ya. I've never really felt too tied down to one character, and it took me nearly all three years of playing so far to hit my first level 50. Don't feel like any of that time was wasted a bit. -
Quote:Great.ShaddupSHADDUP! I get a diode cluster fritzing out just thinking about what GR is going to be like...
Mostly, I just want Dual Pistols. That and all the other shinies...
Argharghargh...
Ya dang people almost shorted out Technobot Alpha. I hope you're happy!
I...HOPE...YOU'RE...HAPPY!!!
S'okay, Alpha. Those nanites will heal you in no time flat. I swear. -
I'm 41. No comment about my missus.
Now get off my lawn you dang kids! -
Quote:Troof. Nothin' like being memorable though. I too recalled her from the first CoX panel two years ago.*chuckles* The pigtailed person was Naienko, a longtime forum poster here. I remembered her from the last CoH panel I went to -- she is quite the memorable lady
Yet another reason we rule, Devs. Yes. Your fans rule. Give us teh luvz. -

Quote:Yeah, R.J.'s signs were a bit of inspired genius. Too bad the folks up front couldn't see the fun we were having.Amazingly, it wasn't really coordinated... we Infinities just kinda like the back of the bus/class/forum/panel. And I'm sorry, but I couldn't let the pint-sized, pigtailed person from Victory/Virtue dominate the panel. Way too many openings for one-liners.
Also, a WARM shout out to the OTHER tall and loud Infinitie who made my awesome panel sign: "Lvl 1 Scrapper LFT AE Team" Went perfect with me having my sword there.
OR *DID* THEY??? -
Quote:That sounds like R.J. I'm sure the last thing he felt was offended.I enjoyed the Con .. it was a Blast.
Like so many on this thread have stated before, it's time that the East Coast was shown a little love. The panel was great and everyone there had fun, but it would have rocked if we'd had an "Official Representative" to grill.
I realize that PAX demands more attention, however it shouldn't be too hard to grab all those attendee's and have them draw a lottery and send the winner to us. They'll be treated well .... we promise!!
I'd like to Thank the Infinity group in back for providing a little spice to the proceedings ... you guys were a Hoot!
And a quick apology to the tall, loud Infinity fellow who sat next to me and tried to get me to talk. It sucks to be "Eat Up" with shyness .... Thanks for the effort.
Oh and for the poster who asked, I was "short dude with the hair"...though there was only one of us wearing a CoV shirt. I was that guy too.
Still am that guy, in fact... -
Quote:Here here! I was in back...the short dude with the CoV shirt in the middle of the loud Infinity group along the back wall.We had a couple lonely Freedumb members as well.
And while I have gone to D*Con for a small amount of years, this is the first year that I went to the panel, and was surprised at how much fun it was. And the majority would have loved to have official representation *coughhintcough*.
Edit: I think we also had a Triumph person or two.
Yeah. That was me. Hiya all!
Folks, I could blather with the best of 'em about why I enjoy the CoX environment, but I think the bottom line for us as players is that we don't play BECAUSE we want the devs to love us, but I think it's safe to say that many of us in attendance really LOVE the game and would truly take it as a badge of honor to thank one (or more) of the devs in person.
We love you, Paragon Studios. If you love us half as much as our subscription fees you'll come say "hello" to Dragon*Con. Otherwise you're meanie doodie heads.
I'm serious.

Quote:Glowworm - I think the Sunday event is the M&G. I look forward to meeting both of you.Hubby and I are packing the car now for the trip to Atlanta. Not sure if we'll make it to the meet and greet though since we are going to meet some other friends up there and I'm not sure if that will be on Sunday or what. But hopefully I'll be able to make it or at least bump into people roaming around (I know, there are A LOT of people to bump into).
Have fun, BB, and everyone else who is going.
Have you guys been practicing your Thriller moves?
Ciao! -
Quote:Blue - Not sure what time I'll be downtown with my peeps. At least we'll have the meetup.Oh wow didn't know that. I'll see if anyone wants to meet up Friday night at 6 pm at the first hotel (I think it's the hilton, but may be Hyatt...) then we can go to hard rock or some place and grab dinner.
And Paris. We'll ALWAYS have Paris. -

Blazing Blue,
I had to skip last year but will be there with BELLS ON this year. I'm seeing members of my extended family from New Orleans and will have my first vacation in, like, two years.
PM me and we'll see if we can find a place to hook up at some point.
BRICK ON A STICK! -

Welcome back, AM! If we can avoid a flaming/bashing session I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on CoX vs WoW.
Come visit us on Infinity. We have cookies!
Y'know...the GOOD kind. Not like those other servers.

Welcome back, OP. Hope you continue to stay with us. There's lot to see and do here now. Don't be shy about asking for help...we're still a pretty friendly lot in game. -

I have a question on morals for statesman/manticore.
Statesman frowns upon manticore's under cover way of doing things, such like his TF involving crey. Though statesman himself sends heroes to stop recluse undercover. How can statesman deem what is okay and manticore cannot?
[/ QUOTE ]
Errr... because Statesman is a self-righteous, egotistical jerk?
"Don't you know who I am? I'M ZEUS, [censored]!"
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty much the answer I was going to give. I figure Statesman gets a LOT of leeway where superheroics on CoX Earth are considered.
Doesn't make him right, or consistent, just that VERY few people bring these issues up with him I'd suppose.
