The in-game items costs 9.99. You will not lose any of your current in-game items - it doesn't erase your Hero Gear Kit purchase, for example.

Any word on how much the boxed edition will run? While I dont need maps and comics and all that extra stuff - a CD with all the updates up until now would be most welcome should I ever have to reinstall. If it's only 20 bucks, I might go that way instead. -
Man, it BETTER not be times the account was billed. I've been paying 6 months at a time for a while now. That means that I've only been billed 5 or 6 times!

Yeah, still have my rock.
On a side tangent, I'd love to see annual trick or treating. Dont nessassarly tie it into the mythology of CoH like what happened with the first event - but just monsters popping out of doors with candy. -

Actually, I'm going to recommend more peyote. I think a little... "outside the box" thinking could help jumpstart the Dev team!

Sounds like a Plan Foo. All you have to do is look at the amount of creativity inherrent in the 60's and 70's as a part of the music industry, to figure out that the same results can be had here.

Or point to Atari, when it was a bunch of dope smoking hippies. I recall one story where the Suits from Warner unexpectedly dropped by the studio to see how things were going one day. The Powers That Be at Atari had to stuff all these stoner programmers inside of empty arcade machines until The Suits had left.
Oh to be a fly on the wall for THAT. -

I'm crazy busy right now, but I'd be happy to answer a few questions, as long as none of them are "when is I7...?"

Ok, question dejuor: I dont know if you've poked your nose into the whole Ageia physics card thread, but has the code for using that funky new card been implmented in the game yet? Or is it still awaiting a future update?
(sub question B - not nessassarly as a dev, but a gamer who's gotten to play with it for a while now, how is it? Is it all that and a bucket of fish?)
****EDIT***
Bah! Too slow on the draw! Ah well, I'll leave the question in hopes that he might see it laters. -

No, I'm not done with these sets, this was just a quick update while I was thinking about it.
'Quick' animations -- You guys are right, in the comics, Archery is seen as very fast and accurate. Fortunately, they don't have to animate them...they just draw as many arrows flying as the story warrants (see Manticore in our comic, for an example.) In the game, having all the animations be as quick as snap shot would definitely decrease the visual appeal of the set. If any of you have ever seen a movie called "Hawk, the Slayer" you'll remember how absolutely silly the archer in that looked. A similar effect would happen in CoX if we animated all the shots that quickly.
Not putting the bow away when using other powers. Brawl is the only attack power in the game that allows you to not put your weapon away when attacking with it. Brawl also took more animation time by several multiples than any other power in the game. Doing something similar with every power which could be used in conjunction with Archery/Trick Arrow simply isn't feasible.
Endurance costs. I did a pass on these a few weeks ago. I honestly don't remember which powers were changed at that time, but there were 2 or 3 that were the wrong cost. Trick Arrow is more problematic in this regard, and I've not looked at them yet.

We have 7 or 8 members on the Saturday night game
We have around 5 members on the family team, when we need to have more people to start a TF, we ask for people to help out to start and make it clear we only need them to start it so they can go on and do whatever they want afterward.
So far the Family team has done:
Positron (a second time when leveling a new player)
Synapse (a second time when leveling a new player)
Sister Psyche
Citadel
Moonfire
Hess
the Croatoa TF (forget her name)
and we are now working on Manticore
and I believe we did Cavern of Transcendence as well (had help from alts of the Saturday game though, we'd outleveled Hollows before it came out)
The other team has done all the above plus Manticore and Nemesis
-----
And, yes, every character on both teams can call on Amy for help, not that we remember or even need that most of the time
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, while I am happy for you and all, all I wanted to know if we had a timeframe on when the Shadowshard TF's were getting trimmed to a reasonable length, not a debate on if they were possible. It's also possible to me to hold my breath, flap my arms REALLY hard and eventualy get to the moon - but its not something I'd look foward to doing.
I'd much rather not sink 12 hours into a TF if the shorter version is right around the corner. -

Hey Posi -
I seem to recall somewhere that you were going to look into the Shadowshard Taskforces, about cutting them down from Ungodly Long to something more reasonable - and that you had an issue 7-8ish time frame for this.
Since these are the last TF badges I need still (and dont relish a 12 hour juant - I like the game, but not THAT much), I was wondering if there had been any foward progress on this? Since I havent heard anything, I'll guess that it's more Issue 8 than 7, right? Or has it fallen off the radar all together?
[/ QUOTE ]
Neither of my regular CoH sessions (Saturday night friends, Sunday morning family) have trouble with Task Forces. We start the task force, do two to three missions, log off, meet again next week, do two to three missions, log off, rinse, repeat as needed until the TF is done.
To make a TF reasonable, you just have to find a group of friends that you can reliably trust to meet every week at the same time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, yeah - but this one needs 8 folks to launch (and if its like the other shadowshard TF I did last weekend), it'll need most of those 8 to beat. Getting a full team to come in part time once a day/week/whatever will be tough.
Why do all that work if the fix is impending? Which is why I was asking Posi. -

On the Atari 2600 console, hold down Reset and Power. Now, select game 1 and then start the game. You'll now have double shots.

Old school cheat
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll go older - in game 9 of Combat, first person to turn their tank one position to the right and fire gets the kill (from the way the shot bounces around), which then knocks them through the wall to your side. Turn around and get one more kill while their spinning and be two up the whole game! -

So Pocket D is a lot of fun. But there are a few problems in teaming with villains:
1. You can't give a villain an inspiration. Now, I think I've seen Superman give "inspiration" to just about everyone, even Lex Luthor. I don't see why this isn't possible.
2. You can't add a villain to your Friends list. So, Batman and Catwoman aren't "friends"? Yes, I know you can add them to Global friends, but come on.
3. And the worst of all, if you leave Pocket D just to go train or sell enhancements, you get kicked from your team! So make War Witch a trainer, and let the bartenders buy as well as sell. Or let me stay on the team, it's hard enough to put one together!
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. I would also further add: put villians on the Looking For Team list (only in that zone). It is SO hard to put together a team when all you can see is the good guys LFT. -

Ice Blast- unresolved
Bug: Blizzard: Every primary has a nuke, they drain all end and leave you unable to recover end for a short time (10 seconds). Blizzard drains and doesn't allow you to recover for the duartion of the blizzard + 10 seconds. blizzard's duration is 20 seconds so that is like 30 seconds we have to go without end recovery. (submitted by Icerian) NOTE: THIS MAY BE FIXED NOW.
Bug: Bitter Freeze Ray: The Foe freezes before the animation is done. (submitted by MageStorm)
Balance: Blizzard doesn't stack up with Nova or Inferno. If you are defeated before Blizzard ends, Blizzard stops (which is very easy to do because you don't have any endurance). (submitted by Sockem)
Balance: Blizzard doesn't get any bonus from Aim and Build Up making it less effective then other Nuke-type attacks. (submitted by Icerian)
[/ QUOTE ]
Can I add a wishlist request? Compared to the **BOOM** of Nova and other high end powers, the light, gentle snowstorm of blizzard looks like a wuss. Can we get a REAL blizzard, with torrnets of blinding snow and howling wind and - you know other blizzard like effects. -
[ QUOTE ]
I want to be happy about this, but since it's "we're working on it" and "no timeline" I think even my SG will have a functional SG before this new solution goes live.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem of course being that if he mentions a timeline (say like what happened with skills), then he will forever have folks shout "You said X would be out by issue seven! You lie again, Stinksman! I hate you and your game FOREVER! Burn in hell!" at him.
People seem to forget that development takes a long, long time. The stuff they start desinging, coding and testing today we wont see for 3-6 months. Sure things can get rushed through, but as a rule - game development aint quick. -

Do 3 Newspapers (This will get you to 5. Be sure to hit 5 before hitting your broker or you will have to do 3 newspapers all over again)
[/ QUOTE ]
How do you do newspaper missions before hitting the contact? I tried with the /newspaper and it said that I needed to go the broker first.
[ QUOTE ]
Now before doing any missions from any of them, get someone higher level that needs Ghosts in Port Oakes. You will Lackey up, and kill off 100 ghosts, This will give you 4 badges.
[/ QUOTE ]
Where do you kill 100 ghosts at? I've not seen 'em on my 2 trips to 20 so far.

That covers all contacts from 1 - 15. My next post will cover 15-25 (possibly 30).

I believe that such shouting matches tend to happen on the forums for several reasons:
* Lack of visual/auditory feedback.
* Lack of the possibility of immediate feedback.
* Dependent entirely upon the other party remaining interested in the thread
[/ QUOTE ]
And you forgot the most important reason: people on the internet like to argue. -
Three things of concern for me:
01) The badge display is becoming so cluttered its nearly useless. When you have large number (like my main does), trying to find one specific one is nearly impossible. Some way to sort the badges - by alphabetical, by type, by zone - SOMEthing.
02) Token plea for getting the outbreak badge. On deaf ears, I know - but one has to try anyway.
03) The Billion Point Badge. While I like the idea of a large number badge, the damage and healing ones are TOO ginormous! Assume for a second that you do 500 points of healing every 10 seconds (a low average, but much better than my blaster can do right now), that means that the healer has to continously heal - non-stop - for 231 days*.
That's so far into the realm of unatainable, it might as well not exist.
* assuming that I got my sums right. -
