Gaining the most from levels 1-15

To follow is just to obtain as much as you can before outleveling it and not being able to get it again. This doesn't include all badges in the zone's those you can get anytime. Strictly missions and souvenirs temp powers etc.

To Follow is 1 method of getting all missions that lead to Souvenirs and Badges.

You start in Breakout. While here be sure to go up to the 3rd floor and last jailcell. There is a Badge there called 'Jail Bird'. If you leave before getting it you cannot get it at a later time.

Kalinda
She wills end you on 5 missions, Upon the 5th mission You will obtain Kalinda's Kiss as a souvenir.

Mongoose
Don't bother with getting Mongoose as a contact. His missions do not have a souvenir, nor any badges.

Instead head to Port Oakes. If you did things with as minimal kiling as possible you should be around level 4.5 (as a stalker you may even be less than this).

Do 3 Newspapers (This will get you to 5. Be sure to hit 5 before hitting your broker or you will have to do 3 newspapers all over again), Heist, then get Bocor. Do 3 More newspapers, Heist, get Angelo Vendetti. ( I would recommend getting 3 more newspapers and do heist to get Billie Heck, though he wont give you a mission til level 6). So at this point you should be almost level 6 or just a bit over level 6. Again at this point minimal killing is required or you will level too fast.

Now before doing any missions from any of them, get someone higher level that needs Ghosts in Port Oakes. You will Lackey up, and kill off 100 ghosts, This will give you 4 badges. (2 achievements and 2 gladiators). You will still be level 6 after this. But This opens up Veluta Lunata. She has 2 Story Arcs, Do the first 1, which comprises of 3 missions: "Check Out lab & bring Rausher Back", "Check Out Rauscher's 2nd Lab", then "Follow Rauscher to the Spirit World". This will yield you a souvenir "A Fragment of the Spirit World". Do not start her 2nd Arc. This one as of this writing has no min level so you can do this at any point later.

Instead now head to Bocor and Vendett and Heck, get their missions, and start doing them, The missions you need from them are: Vendetti: "Defeat the Council Vampyr". This will have an Elite Boss at the end, after success you will get souvenir "Blechley's Goggles". You also want to do Mission "Deal with Niles Worthington". This yields 2 badges. Achievement Badge Stone Cold. And Gladiator Badge Mook Capo.

From Bocor you want to get to the Misison that is Defeat All foe in Cave. Again there will be an Elite Boss at the end. and will net you a souvenir "The Mask of Mordregor". You will also want to look for Mission "Retrieve the Loa Bone" This nets you a Badge : Bone COllector, and a temp power Loa Bone which will let you summon 5 zombies.

From Billie Heck you are looking for atleast mission "Take down Bloody Viscious and Pitbull" No Elite Boss, but Pitbull hits as hard as one. Souvenir: "Bowlers Hat" If you want to get temp power Billie Heck has a mission "Take out 3K Kelvin" (Elite Boss) that yields an ammulet to summon 5 imps.

At this point you shd be near level 10 or 9. If you aren't level 10 yet, go to Cap Au Diable and run 3 newspaper missions to get 10 (If you aren't 10 still can always do a mission or 2 from Veluta on the 2nd arc til you do get 10. Again don't need to finish her arc as it can be done at any point. (Though only til about level 14 will you get xp)

Once you are level 10, go to your broker and do a heist and get 1st contact. Just like in Port oakes, just do missions and heists til you have all 3 contacts. Mr Bocor will also send you to Contact The Radio.

2 Missions you want to get through from the radio are: Drop off canisters of Outbreak. (this is a 2nd part, the first part is Steal the Outbreak from the lost. This will get you badge: Plague Carrier. Further down the line you will get a mission Steal the Hit List from Wyverns which will yield a souvenir Hit List.

As for the other 3 contacts in Cap Au Diable

Dmitri Krylov you have 2 arcs: Steal Notes from Facemaker (An elite boss), this yields Souvenir Vahzilok Souvenir, and Take Down Turovsky & Witnesses which will yield Souvenir Spetsnaz Badge. (this is not a badge mission).

Peter Themari has 2 arcs for you Secure Olivia Daque from the Longbow Ambush will get you a souvenir Olivia Daque Ring. The Other arc ends with Get Pyriss our of Legacy Chain Base. Souvenir: Lock of Pyriss Hair.

Dr Shelley Percey

Souvenir is The Skin of Midas and has a Badge; Mask Maker. I do not at this time have the data for which misisons they are. I will update once I gain the data.

So there you have it. All the arcs and mission badges to 15.

If you are still 14 head to Sharkshead Island and run 3 newspapers but do not talk to broker til after you hit 15 or you will have to run 3 papers again. If after running 3 papers still not 15 remembet to hit Veluta up to finish off that last arc. 3 missions and yields the Illicit copy of Malachi's Files.

That covers all contacts from 1 - 15. My next post will cover 15-25 (possibly 30).

Very nice job, this helps a lot so i can get all the souvineres and badges. Oh just one little thing, i believe the sharkhead broker takes 5 newspaper missions in order to get a heist mission.

Majik,

15 is too low for Sharkhead.

You're missing the fact that Peter Themari, Dmitri Krylov and Dr. Percey will each introduce you to other folks (Willy Wheeler, Golden Roller, and Marshall Brass). Willy Wheeler will introduce you to Seer Marino (Wretch arc)....Marshall Brass will introduce you to Operative Wellman (Zig Guard Hat mission).

Aside from that, though, you're spot on about how to run the contacts without leveling them (meet all 3 by running broker missions and heists BEFORE you run their missions).

I cant recall if Sharkshead started giving contacts at 15 or 20, I took a guess on 15, though it may be the 20 level, I will be including the 2nd tier contacts like Willey wheeler and suck with the 15+ guide once I get the 20 level stuff completed, I forgot to log half the missions on the contacts I did make, but outleveled many of them before I found em all.

And yes Sharkshead is 5 newspaper missions, that wsa a typo because I was working something else when I typed it up and I just copy/pasted into the forums.

Forgot to put for paper missions the best ones are to kill Name and guards, usually there will be only 1 or 2 guards with the name to kill and can easily just run to thier room once you learn the maps. Steal Items are the next best paper missions as clicking the glowie and then killing the room off (warehouse has about 2 extra groups to kill outside the room with glowie). But you end up killing off 2-15 mobs. Kidnap missions are the worse. Unless you one with High defense and can run by everything and run with ambushers on your tail. You end up having to kill way too much, and can easily outlevel contacts having to clear out maps.

The ghosts are in the NE area of Port Oaks -- Fort Hades. They show up mostly at night or if somone else is fighting them (and pulls them into the daylight during the fight). If you want to stay 6th level, make sure whoever lackey's you is level 21+ or you'll likely level to 7th. Make sure to fight them around the spirit traps (the green glowy machine things scattered around the fort).

Other pointers:

Badges:

There's a badge and gladiator for killing Snakes, which one normally gets by doing Mongoose's missions, which are full of Snakes. If you're skipping Mongoose, then don't forget to go back to Mercy when you're a much higher level than the Snakes (and thus, little or no xp to cause you to outlevel content) and do some street sweeping until you get those badges. If you follow all the other suggestions in this thread, I'm sure you can still do Mongoose without causing you to outlevel other content.

Slowing Down the Leveling

Avoid escort (kidnap) missions from newspapers. You'll be forced to clear a path to the victim and defeat several waves of foes. Too much xp for too little content.

Take 'Defeat NAME' missions. Only have to kill NAME and surrounding guards.

Take 'Find' missions. Only have to click on the glowie and defeat mobs in the room. (Some missions are still click only.)

With the 'Defeat NAME' and 'Find' missions you only have to run to the mission objective. Get a stealth power early. Sometimes just running past mobs and absorbing one or two hits works. Masterminds can use their minions as decoys and meat shields to get by. Superspeed gives both stealth and the fastest way to search to get to the mission objective.

Keep your difficulty rating at the easiest level.

Ironically, running to the mission objective and avoiding the extraneous battles will level you up incredibly fast because of the big xp bonus to completing missions. This provides a very high xp/hour rate. But don't let that worry you, because, at the same time, you get to read all the content of all the arcs and grab all the badges and temp powers and souvenirs.

Infamy

If you're running to mission objectives and avoiding mob battles, you'll get lots of xp for the missions, but you'll be missing all the influence and enhancement drops from mob battles. You'll be leveling quickly (from mission xp), but not be able to pay for your DO an SO enhancements.

Getting more xp than influence creates another problem later in the game with an unlockable contact: Doc Buzzsaw, who requires you to have the Bling badge (1 million Infamy) before you outlevel her at level 31. Many players have gotten their Bling badge at 31 or higher and thus, outlevel this contact.

There are two ways to cut down xp gains while keeping or increasing influence gains:

First, die. A lot. When you hit level 10, you can cut the rate of xp being gained by half simply by dying (i.e., being defeated) and gaining debt.

Second, Malefactor (the reverse sidekick [exemplaring] of CoV) the Cap ua Diable Strike Force (Virgil Tarikoss, level 15-20) when you outlevel it. You can even do it as team leader. You'll be auto-malefactored down to 20. Any xp you might have gained will go to removing debt and then be turned into infamy. {At level 29, I did this SF again, and that's when I dinged my Bling.}

How do you do newspaper missions before hitting the contact? I tried with the /newspaper and it said that I needed to go the broker first.

[/ QUOTE ]

When you first enter Port Oakes (or any zone with a Broker Contact), you will automatically get a Broker as a contact (check your contact list). Go to the Broker and get a Newspaper. Now the Newspaper shows up in your contact list. Click it. It will give you a choice of one of three missions. Click on the one you want to do. Do three newapaper missions. Watch the status bar fill up in the Broker's window (in the contact list) as you do those missions. Once you've filled up the status bar of the Broker, go to the broker in person. The Broker will give you a special mission, a heist. Take it. Do it. Go back to the Broker and the Broker will give you a contact.

From here on out, whenever you go into a new zone, you'll automatically get a broker for that zone. Taking a newspaper mission (a 'scheme') in that zone fills up that zone's broker's status bar. Once you get to Sharkhead, it will take 5 instead of 3 schemes to get a heist mission.

Mongoose should give a souvenir called Snake Idol. It is one of those currently bugged ones mentioned in a dev post. I got the souvie in beta, but something got broke between then and Live.

Mongoose, the Snake Kill badge, is for 25 Snakes, which you easily get during Kalinda's missions. The Snake Gladiator badge is linked to the Snake Charmer exploration Badge, not the Mongoose Defeat badge, so with some running around you can get that one without a problem.

Both of those can be done at any level which is why I didnt include them in the guide.

As for the Mongoose Souvenir, I found out that he had one after I made the guide and cant edit it. When I include the 15-25 items I will rewrite the 1-15 section as well with it for a 1-25 guide.

And to clarify, it's not defeat 100 ghosts, it's trap 100. That gets you the Spectral badge and a gladiator. You only need to trap 50 ghosts (Pirate badge) to unlock Veluta Lunata.

What this means is that any ghosts that you defeat that are not in very close proximity to the ghost traps around Fort Hades (the trap is the actual disk on the ground that glows green and has the arachnos symbol on it) will not count.

Good suggestions on ordering things. I highly recommend this site for more information on the details of each contact. Most of the story arcs and other missions have enough detail that you'll be able to tell which missions the contact is offering each time you talk to them.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's a good site and I reference it often, but I have more information available on my site... at least currently.

Actually, though I generally favour Defeat Boss/Take Goods missions, Kidnap missions are just as easy to do and frequently yield less exp than either of the other two mission types.

You do not have to clear a path through the mobs to get in and out. So long as you don't hurt a mob, they will lose interest in you almost instantly as you run through. Just run past them, totally ignoring them. You might get shot by the quick thinking ones occasionally, but so long as you've lost aggro by the time you find your kidnapee, you can simply run back through them all with the objective in tow. You can even ignore the ambushes - use sprint. They'll chase, unlike the native mobs in the mission, but you'll outrun them with ease (the only time you have to fight ambushes is when you're escorting a 'pet' NPC who will die without your assistance). I used this tactic consistently with a Brute AND a Dominator, rarely ever having to defeat more than the LT + friend guarding the objective. Of course, Stalkers have it even easier going in, but still need to deactivate Hide and take a shot or two on the way out.

It's rare to see great guides like this one for low levels.

Veluta Lunata now won't give you missions until level 10.

And as of yesterday Mongoose still does not give you a souvenier

Posted

The Veluta missions may be bugged. I did them all, got no souveniers, then was told to never bother her again. At this point I asked her for more missions and she offered me the first one... find Rauscher, all over again! I petitioned a bug report.

Posted

Yeah the Xmas patches they put in seemd to have screwed up Lunata and reset Mongoose back to not giving the souvenirs, htough he did give one for about 1 week, and all my villains that did do him was given the souvenir when logged in.

Posted

As of today, Veluta Lunata gives missions for the trapping 50 ghosts, but only for lvl 10 and above. so it seems the whole first story arc may now be missing? at the very least bugged.

Posted

I found after the last patch, that you can do all 6 missions. (both arcs) later in the game. However her souvenirs are borked at the time. I hd done both arcs got xp for the missions and completing the arcs but got no souvenir. Mongoose was giving his souvenir out for like 1 or 2 weeks, and then became stingy again. So hard to write a guide in this game with all the problems that keep borking up.

Posted

Veluta will give you the souveniers now, but only after you have completed her story arcs twice through.

I ended up lvl 11 at completion, so I don't think she will cut you off for being over 10 as long as you have done it the first time through at 10, then again it may be that they have switched her to a lvl 10-15 contact....
