  1. Granite Agent

    What's the deal?

Has there been any explanation provided as to why the signature image for Freedom shows Statesman fighting a nameless warworks robot?

I mean, why not Lord Recluse or Emperor Cole? Or even Hamidon or his Avatar? How was it somehow deemed more awesome to show him fighting a non-living robot? (and by the way, what is the robot doing -- about to punch him with a gun??).
  2. For a scrapper, it's possible musculature would be better.

I think when we discussed this before we concluded that for a Brute, spiritual was better to have enough recharge to run FU-Focus-Slash. As the Brute already was +dmg buffed through Fury, the addition from musculature wasn't as big a deal (and lower modifier on a brute).

Actually it would be the Clobber crit after Shatter applied the 20% - RES from the Fury of Gladiator Proc. Now *that* would be drool-tastic!
  4. So I leveled up a Plant/Kin/Stone to 50 and have been kitting him out.

Question is, how do you guys open on big spawns (+3/8 etc.)?

On my permadom Plant/Fire/Fire I'm used to Seeds + Roots ftw, followed by AOE goodness. Everything is locked down and burning.

With this Plant/Kin, he is soft-capped to S/L with capped HP (rock armor and earth's embrace). But opening with Seeds always seems to leave some stragglers who pummel on him -- made worse by the lack of mez protect. And having to run up to get in the middle for Fulcrum Shift.

I guess I have to go Clarion for mez protect?

Just curious how you guys are dealing with large spawns.

Also is it me or does the damage on Fissure absolutely blow (esp. when not contained)?
  5. The sheer smash! factor and fun on WM/SD cannot be overstated.

I was running the Cim wall yesterday and Shatter crit for 417+417 on lvl 52 cimmies. I say cimmies in plural because a bunch of them were caught in the Shatter cone, as always. Crowd Control then flattened them.

The smashgasm of Shatter (with -RES), Crowd Control, Whirling Mace and Shield Charge must be experienced first-hand.

Sure, WM may not have the extreme dps of other sets (DM, Claws), but I'm hella enjoying it
  6. Wait you can now take Aid Self without having to take either Aid Other or Stimulant? Really?

I built this guy on Sunday after grinding him to 50. Build is as I posted above except:

    1) 4 slots in Aid Self -- 3 numi (heal, heal/end, heal/rechg) and Interrupt IO
    2) 2 slots recharge in Conserve Power
    3) Grant Cover with Def/End LoTG

I seem to be doing OK on endurance in +3/+8 missions and the Cim wall, and that's without using Conserve Power.

Build can chain: Shatter, Clobber, Pulverize, Jawbreaker. Not sure if that's the best chain with only moderate recharge but it seems to do OK. Speed boosted, I seemed to be able to chain Shatter, Clobber, Jawbreaker.

I was debating what Alpha and your comments on Musculature help. I wasn't sure if Musculature would make that big a difference with AAO running. Guess it does. The musculature alpha with end reduce seems like the best bet.

I like Destiny Rebirth on defense-capped toons more than barrier. I've tried both and Rebirth (heal) seems to work better to patch holes. You can chug purples or OJs to beef up your def/res but the +regen from Rebirth really helps over time.

Open to further thoughts! Wish MIDS was updated.
  7. Thanks Pear. Outside the slotting of some Hami-Os, it sounds like the choice is really about dropping Aid Self for Manuevers and maybe tactics. There also is room for Focused Accuracy on a scrap build instead of tactics. Have to think that through!
  8. OK, here's my starting plan. This is a Brute build since MIDS isn't updated yet. Imagine on the scrapper you take Body EPP, which frees up 1 powerpick (currently Focused Accuracy) to let you take Grant Cover (LoTG 7.5%) while keeping Conserver Power and PP.

Idea was to run a single-targ chain of Shatter-Clobber-Pulverize-Jawbreaker. I had to stick the purples in to get enough recharge. Also wanted to fit some procs in. Any ideas to make this better? Is this the optimal chain?

Debated the Force Feedback +Rchrg in Crowd Control -- but there's not much that really needs rechage. It might knock 5-10 secs off Shield Charge but that's about it. So I proc'd it instead for damage.

Debating Aid Self -- it's good to have, but redraw is a pain. Theoretically could replace it with Destiny Rebirth I guess. Question is what to take in its place, if 2 slots freed up. Spring attack doesn't really seem worthwhile given WM's AOE on its own.

    Things I don't love:
    - With the 3% Glad in there I wish I had higher def (49%), but I'm still softcap

It DOES persist through death -- that is, you have the buff after you revive -- during the period of the buff. However my testing implies that the buff shuts off while you are dead, e.g., laying on the floor of the mission. Which kind of sucks because you pretty much will be dead a ton in AE ambush farms (the amubushes see through stealth and shadowy presence).

    Plant/Fire/Fire!

On my PFF I took incinerate over consume. I also took Aid Self.

Aid Self could be replaced by Destiny Rebirth I guess. But I like Incinerate for melting bosses and other hard-targets with a chain of Blaze-Blast-Incin. You have more than enough AOE with Roots+ROF+FB+Fire Breath. Something to think about.
  12. Yeh the 3 melee set thing was a bit of a surprise.

Having said that, all 3 sets look great and honestly the staff-fighting set looks crazy good.

    Barbarian Set

The Barbarian Warhammer and Barbarian Axe are pretty weak. The Axe in particular looks like a tomahawk at best. The warhammer looks delicate.

As cool as the Barbarian Mace is, the others just are lame. Same for the shield -- "hey lets just redo the targe model but make it metal." O Rly?

I'm going to complain about the barbarian shoulders for huge models too -- weak.

They did some stuff great, like the loin cloth and rings and mace, some stuff Ok like the male boots (santa boots?), and some stuff missed by a mile.

Except they don't seem to work when the toon is dead? As far as I can tell, you die and you lose the buff. Which makes it really hard for dual-boxed ambush farms, as the triggered ambushes will always pwn the lowbie toon. And then he sort of stays dead most of the farm
  15. For the record, the new Barbarian Mace model is really cool -- if a little small (it should be like 2x bigger!!).

    Time Overpowered

This was beat to death on the beta boards. Anyone who played the set for a while felt it really wasn't over powered compared to the other top sets. The comment about about "the Willpower of control" is accurate.

    Vault

Can someone please explain to me how the VAULT works? I'm a 7 year vet but I've never used it -- it's always been in strange locations. Now I see they are launching a /vault command like /auctionhouse.

    Thx.

Then you don't need to worry about keeping track of all of your stuff on your alts. Just email it to yourself and toss it into your storage base. Plus you can be pro-active about long-term bidding on the Enhancements you're going to need later, and just store them there till you actually need them.

I get that you can store a bunch of IOs in the base. Do you have to give each alt of your access to the bins (by inviting them to the SG) in order to withdraw IOs? Having to email 100s of IOs to 1 toon to put in the bins, and then to 1 toon to take out of the bins, seems like a PITA when you have to outfit a toon.
  20. When did prices for this IO increase by 1B? They use to go for 2B at most. Is this guy insane or am I outta da loop?
  21. The Barbarian Mace is awesome and detailed but they should have made it like 2x as big.

    Facts on MARTy

Definitely need some tests on the +3/+8 or +4/+8 fire farms (Fire!, etc.) and the CEBR farms, assuming 1 char running and 1 being PL'd.

I think we need to understand what Marty will do the CEBR leveling as well as lvl 50 +4/+8 fire-farm leveling. I guess we have to wait and see.
