  1. Not by a long shot.

There only two things that have changed and these are mobs that rez don't give rewards after rezzes and the way the general public is perceiving the state of these farms.

A lot of the people that didn't farm, but wanted the services of farmers are the ones that think things have changed.

Fire Farms....hell, all farms for that matter are live and well.
  2. Kinetic Melee is turning out to be a much more solid set than I had anticipated. The single target damage is very good, if you can manage to keep up 4 or 5 siphon power stacks.

Even the AoE damage turns out to be respectable once you have enough recharge to get burst between 4-6 seconds.

I'm currently evaluating the effectivness of the set as a scrapper and a brute. Currently I feel that the set is more suited to a scrapper even though effectivness may not necessarily be higher than a brute. I think scrappers get more out of the damage ramp up of power siphon than brutes since brutes already have fury. Scrappers with a better base damage see a better improvement in damage, though I'm not sure how this works with crits. Does the crit only effect base damage?

Also, the added effect of siphon power refresh on concetrated strike give siphon power a signifcantly large up time than brutes.

I am currently pairing KM with Regen, but I believe that KM/SD would most likely be very effective for scrappers due to the damage increase of AAO. Add the damage boost from siphon power and I image that most attacks are going to be very effective.

Plus....I have to admit the animations are kind of cool.
  3. Currently, I've been trying to find a character that can do everything that I like to do well. I like to solo a lot (AV's, hopefully the ITF at some point), I like to do task forces, trials, etc.

So, I was trying to come up with a character that I thought could do all that and I've made several character with different builds, but this would be the first scrapper I am attempting and despite what I've seen going against regen I've decided to try it.

I chose KM, because it seems that it is a primary set that has the single target damage to take down AV's well while still maintaining a fairly respectable AoE in the form of Burst. I really enjoy the power siphon effect in this set.

I decided to pair it up with regen, because I though that the two sets were rather synergenic in their substantial benefit from recharge. I did focus on recharge (Without going into the use of purple sets, which I may add later on). I also focused on as much defense and resistance I could get. I figure the more defenses I could layer on top of my regeneration and healing the better off I'd be.

The build comes out to almost 40% s/l defense and I don't think I've sacrificed all that much to get there. Hasten isn't perma, but I figure several seconds of downtime isn't going to hurt me most of the time. I know there will be times where those seconds matter, but I think they'll be few and far between.

The build is further supported by the use of MoG, Instant Healing, and Shadow Meld. I figure with the amount of S/L defense and regen the build has these three powers will help support it in very rough situations. Furthermore, I may consider getting the incarnate power Barrier for a fourth power to assist in those situations.

My largest regret with the build was not being able to work burn out into the build as it seems like a phenomenal power to have with these sets as it would instant recharge siphon power, all attacks, MoG, instant healing, dull pain, and reconstruction. Seems sort of like a reset button in such a build. I am looking for input on the build that may improve it or the performance of the character. I also have a few questions on Kinetic Melee that I wanted to add.

The first is, for single target attack chain would it be more efficent to take quick strike over body blow since it is a faster animating and faster recharge attack than body blow for building siphon power stacks? Should I be taking both quick strike and body blow? What is the desired ST attack chain with KM? On a final note is KM better used on a scrapper or brute. I can see that there are certain aspects that very, but is the performance of the set vastly different because of it?

TL;DR: Here's my attempt at trying a KM/Regen scrapper that I'm hoping can solo AVs, farm, and maybe solo the ITF. Any input on how to improve would be appreciated. Also, what's the best ST attack chain and is this set more suited for a brute or scrapper?

((Note that the build is a scrapper since regen is not an option for brute in Mids yet.))

  4. Is musculature a damage increase to your base damage or is it added on the end?

If it's a base damage increase, I think it would be pretty good for a scrapper due to crits.

    SS/Fire Build

I chose not to use the leadership pool, because I planned on making a character that could do many different things. I wanted to be able to farm when I wanted to, but I also wanted to be able to solo AVs, team for trials and other TFs/SFs etc., and maybe at some point try to solo the ITF or something of that nature.

The reason why I didn't go leadership is, because recharge is pretty much the king of my build. I went with the concealment pool, because it gave me some easy options for placing LoTG recharges in powers that I didn't need to add any slots to. I use invisibility all the time to stealth missions, it's a great out of the box, incidental power that's been useful to me.

I chose the soul mastery pool, because I wanted one more high damage single target attack when I'm fighting AVs. I really didn't feel the need for any more AoE on the build simply, because burn, footstomp, and blazing aura are more than sufficent. I could probably farm a little faster if I took more AoEs, but then I'd compromise myself somewhere else.

I've been trying to find that one character that I can put everything I have into and do pretty much anything I want with it. So far SS/FA/Soul is working out very well for me, though I think I want to work in darkest night.

    SS/Fire Build

Since no one has replied and your post has been up all day long, here is my build. It is a cheap build, if you're willing to put in the time to collect merits for the things like the LoTG 7.5% recharges. Other than that, most of the recipes are things you come across during normal gameplay or spending AE tickets.

The build has turned out to be pretty good and only keeps getting better as I add incarnate powers to it.

I don't know, you still might need this:
How to search the forums - Memphis_Bill

The problem I had with your post is that the information you claimed wasn't there was, in fact, available.

No, the intent was to tell you that whatever you think you were doing with your searches, you were doing it wrong. Additionally, when similar posts appeared within the last few weeks in this section, saying that you've looked is false.
You have a funny way of being helpful, you can't leave out that condesending crap.

Yeah, turns out I don't know how to use the search function that well and some of those links are helpful. However, I did look and came up with less than stellar results and if you don't believe that, screw you.

I was stating that was the only thing useful about his post, in that it'll hopefully help someone else. But it's intent toward me was simply to patronize.

In addition, I know I (and others) have posted the GR Morality System guide in a few threads in this section:

And those are just the recent threads in this section.

Read the "Guide to Going Rogue's Morality System - In plain English."
Forgive me for not forgiving you. Those searches came up with either no results or nothing I could find in the first few pages.

I also, guess I was simply to suppose to randomly come across one of your posts somewhere and discover your guide.

My question was answered quickly and politely by others and I thank them for it. Your "help" wasn't needed or wanted the way you put it.

Furthermore, your post, now, is only good for someone else having the same problem in the future.

Too bad you couldn't do it without the condescension.

My character that I'm doing this is already complete set with all his IO sets. Only thing he needs now is to slowly replace things with some of the purple sets I want, which I don't think I have much alternatives on how to get those.

The reason I am going to stay rogue for now is that I want to be able to access all the TFs and SFs and all the exploration badges. Once I'm done with all the stuff on redside, I'll finally switch over to blue and complete the stuff I couldn't normally do as a rogue.
  11. Thank you for clearing that up for me folks. I really appreciate it.

Off to get my next 4 tips.
  12. Ok, I don't understand this. I've done searches on the forums for tips, rogue, vigilante, switch sides, etc. and I can't seem to find my answer.

I am a villain currently which started as a praetorian. I want to become a hero. (I mainly started out as a praetorian to see the content and went villain, because I wanted to unlock a patron power before switching) now I want to go rogue and stay rogue.

    How do I do this?

I know I need to do tips missions and I'm currently at 6/10 tips complete on rogue alignment. I'm worried if I do 10/10 I'll become a hero rather than a rogue.

How does this work? I need to get 10/10 tips then do 1 more and I become a rogue or I become a hero? Which one?
  13. Completely overlooked the level-locked qualifier. >_<
  14. Claw/WP seems like it'd be pretty awesome.

I'm working on a build right now that'd have around 70-74 hp/sec with one target on rise to the challenge, soft capped s/l, and aid self working in for an active healing ability. There's enough recharge that hasten is only down for a few seconds and spin is on a 4.25 second recharge.

The regen hits around 125 hp/sec with a fully saturated RTC. Along with 50% s/l resistance, I think survivability is through the roof.

The only issue I think I have with the build is that the overall accuracy seems pretty low at 112.5% (Not sure how that translates into being able to hit even con to +4's though) figure that it is compensated a little bit by follow up which pushes it up to 127.4% and to 142.4% double stacked, which is fairly easy to maintain once the build is fleshed out.

    Worth a go, I think.

Can anyone post a build, doesn't have to be complete, that makes it so I can run rooted and still be able to move at a non-embarassing rate?

Katana/Stone looks really cool, but for the playstyle I feel is required with a katana, it's unacceptable.
I have since lost my build since I deleted mids before I came back to the game, but currently my Stone/Stone tank can run at 19 mph with rooted on.

I can say that the ancients defesive set was pretty instrumental in achieving a higher run speed, as well as liberally slotting swift with run speed IOs.

Frankly, I have to competely respec him since he doesn't have the fitness pool stuff for free yet.

But it is definitely possible to achieve more than sufficent speeds with rooted up. I do have to say that if you turn on granite (speed is still good), but add rooted to that and it's back to a crawl. Though granite plus rooted usually means I'm in the center of a rather large group.

I'll see if I can piece together my build again and post it here.
  16. I'd say that Kinetic Melee is probably the highest single target damage set now. I'm not certain when you start comparing lows, averages, and highs though. (Forget if brutes can get this or not. Exited my game, so not certain)

Energy has always been a pretty good single target set as well.

With enough work, dark melee can be incredibely powerful as a single target set as well. I know midnight grasp is one of the highest damage single target attacks.

    Claws/Regen

I've really been thinking about this as, I went all the way through building a SS/FA brute got him fully IO'd out and I just don't like him.

So, I'm back to considering claws/regen scrapper or a claws/willpower scrapper.

My issue at the moment is, since their damage will be the same (relatively), which is more survivable in most situations?

The big advantage to regen is that you have active healing to support your regen and regen plus active healing is great mitigation for any damage type.

On the other hand with willpower you get decent levels of regen, no active healing, respectable resistances, and if you build it correct you can actually soft cap smashing and lethal defense which adds a lot of surviability.

I just don't seem to know enough about regen and it's overall performance to decide which is more desirable overall. I have a SS/WP brute that is rather beastly....I can image claws being quite as powerful too since my Claws/SR scrapper is monstrous as well.
  18. Gospel_NA

    Mace/SR scrapper

Axe/SR is even better, especially with the tons of knock downs included for further mitigation. The only issue I ever had with it was endurance.

I see it nearly every time I use footstomp. The more mobs the better. 10% chance per each mobs actually makes it pretty reliable in large groups.

I could see the added benefit of increasing the duration of the buff while fighting large groups.

As for mids reporting having a 320% recharge bonus, when you add the proc to a power mids "activates the power". It's a way to see what you temporary recharge rate would be. You have to deactivate the power like you would a toggle so the effect isn't adjusting your numbers while building your character.

And as said above mids is a good program, but not overly smart. You have to do some thinking for it, since the recharge effects don't stack you do need to deactivate them and only check one of them if you're looking for your temporary recharge rate.

Both sets are pretty good. It is easier to soft cap some defense on /DA than it is on fire, but what you don't have in defense is made up a lot by divine avalanche. The resists are much better on fire with a more reliable heal. Not to mention the secondary damage from blazing aura and burn. Though redraw would probably be slightly annoying.

Either is a good combination. I'd say go with the one you like the most.

    Ice slotting

I should add that I don't want to slot for damage in the primary powers because it's so weak to begin with and I'd rather be more efficient at controlling; I never solo so damage isn't really an issue. I'll also be taking the ice APP, probably just ice blast, ice storm and frozen armor.

Thanks in advance for the help!
I think people are hesitant to provide much detail on the new sets until MIDs is updated.

However, neither set is hurt by slotting for more recharge. If you plan to run arctic air with other toggles as well, make sure you're slotting sufficently enough, until incarnates, for endurance as toggles like arctic air are huge endurance hogs.

As for Jack Frost, I wouldn't worry about him, I'd slot 4 call to arms IOs for the 6.75% recharge bonus and call it a day. Slotting him the best you can for accuracy and damage, since you should have to recall him often.

Haste is your friend in this build, I'd shoot to get that perma, which shouldn't be hard using time. Ice slick will be easy enough to perma if you go that route.
  22. Gospel_NA

    Pure control

Made an Ice/Rad build just for the heck of it. It definitely needs cardiac since you use so many toggles in it (Though if you don't want to go that route you can change the slotting to be more endurance friendly)

Either way this build should throw down a lot of control and a lot of debuffing cability.

  23. WM/DA is a fun combination.

With the 30% chance to stun from whirling mace and the mag 2 stun from oppressing gloom you can control large groups pretty well.

I have a WM/DA brute that does very well, I haven't gotten him any incarnate powers or full IO'd him out yet, but I imagine you can get the recharge time down on whirling mace to around 6-7 seconds. The stun durations from both powers have a much longer duration so it works out pretty well.

Not to mention the mitigation you get from all the knock downs and the -hit and terrorize from cloak of fear.

Plus you have a self heal in the form of dark regeneration, even though it is pretty expensive endurance wise.
