I gotta say, I really dig your style, Scarf. Cartoony without overdoing it.

    Drops II

    Lighthouse and/or Dr. Brainstorm:

I know that the majority of people posting ideas about solving the problem of high-level characters and storyarc rewards have mentioned a "Flashback" system, some sort of repeatable storyarcs, or a change to the nature of the drop tables. My support and my suggestion, however, have to go to the "retroactive story arc reward" option that some have been throwing out here.

I realize that the system in place will likely just be the addition of a rare recipe as an option in the storyarc reward drop-down menu and that my suggestion would require extra coding. I also realize that all those characters getting all those rewards would introduce a LOT of rare recipes into the world at once. But I believe that the long-term negative impact would be negligible. The recipes are 1-use, are they not? So there's a good chance that most of those recipes will be used up within a relatively short time. And those that aren't will likely find their way to Wentworth's and the black market, thereby kickstarting the in-game economy. Furthermore, this system would ensure that everyone who has completed a storyarc at some point would be justly compensated and have a reason to at least investigate the new Invention system.

From what we've seen of the badge system, we know that the technology exists to retroactively award based upon previously-met criteria. Well, why not add some coding that looks for souvenirs and randomly cranks out rare recipes corresponding to the appropriate level range of the storyarc? Granted, there is the loose end of coding the retroactive awarding to only happen once so that any future storyarc rewards would have to be chosen manually. But I'm sure that the team at Cryptic can come up with something.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope that the idea that I and other have put forward will be given consideration among the other ideas.
  4. I believe it's been confirmed that both his boots and gloves are inventable costume pieces

After PMing Positron this to pass along to Jay, I remembered that this thread exists. So I'm posting this here as well, for the sake of completeness. In this thread, mention is made of a new "Steampunk" skin for gloves (pictures on page 2). After noticing that a few things were odd about it as compared to other glove skins, as well as noticing that it was only available for smooth/bare and large robotic, it occurred to me that the Steampunk option showing up for smooth/bare is likely a bug.

PMed Posi about it, and now I'd going through the proper channels and posting about it here.
  6. I like how Dragonberry has become Chameleonberry with her prehensile tail
  7. It's the nature of the internet, unfortunately. Anonymity + audience ... well, you know the rest.

There's just something about the 'net that makes people quick to abandon reason and common sense, and to take things a lot more personally than they really should if it means they can argue and complain more.

  8. *hugs Scarf, gets impaled by spines*

    *cough*

That's just awesome! Your style makes me look like Baraka from Mortal Kombat. Not that I'm complaining.

Oh, and if Smash trying to break DB across his knee is an homage to Bane breaking Batman, that's even awesomer!
  9. hehe

Add me to the list of "I LOLed" folks.
  10. Maybe it's just a personal thing, I guess. I for one would have no problem with Scarf drawing Smashmouth being dismembered, disembowled, and otherwise completely fracked up by Dragonberry. I think the imagery of the giant, leather-clad monster being torn to shreds by a cute, little, pink scarf and legwarmer-wearing, pink-haired, dragon girl is absolutely wonderful, and just a bit hilarious too.

    But I'm a weirdo.
  11. Smashmouth (Super Strength/Invulnerability/Leviathan Brute)

    Front Side Back Face shot

    Bio
    ------
Standing over 7 1/2 feet tall and clad in black leather, Smashmouth is destruction incarnate. At least, after a run-in with The Leviathan (Mako's patron arc), that's what he thinks he is. In fact, he believes it's his destiny alone to destroy the world, and he'll tear apart anything or anyone who stands in his way.

    Features
    ----------
    - Gigantic size
    - Monstrous talons for hands
    - Mouth full of razor-sharp teeth, usually twisted into an insane, predatory grin
    - Single piece of chain wrapped around his neck and eyes
    - No nipple rings, please; I'm using the Tanker pattern as an undershirt beneath the leather straps

Favorite powers: Knockout blow, Haymaker, Bile Spray

Right now, he's a weird mix of Juggernaut, Venom, and the xenomorphs from the Alien movies, with a bit of S&M thrown in for good measure. He fluctuates between philosophical talk of order and chaos, and wild, animalistic fury. Prefers to fight unarmed, save for his claws, his teeth, and his ability to regurgitate a powerful spray of highly corrosive acid.

Okay, I leave him in your capable, green, scaly hands
  12. Everyone's a winner! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

And Scarfy, about reference pics: should we just PM ya a few, or will you be getting a hold of us when you need them?
  13. My humble submission:

    Steel chains, broken and blood-soaked.

He did it on purpose, if you look at his other thread about necroposting. Hence why I reported his thread, and expect this to get locked soon. +1

Oh, I know. Hence my unenthusiastic reply to his post.
  16. You just quoted a post from over 2 years ago concerning a system that has changed since then.

    Just pointing that out.
  17. Chicks dig bad boys, right? Well, they don't come any badder than Smashmouth! He's every hero's nightmare, and every woman's dream. Tall, dark, and handsome ... no really, he is! You just can't tell because he's wearing his signature mask and chains. And has glowing, red eyes ... And a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth ... And big claws.

But he's handsome, oh yeah. Just trust me on this.

a basic shot (pardon the lighting)

    a little closer

in a little better light, doing a little warmup

And because his upper body is mostly covered, here's a special shot just for the calendar

Month: November, if possible. I really don't have a preference.

    • All Taunt power animations have been slightly adjusted. They will now root the player for the same amount of time and take the same amount of time to 'hit' a target. The timing was normalized around Dark Melee's taunt, which was the quickest activating version, so this equates to a minor buff for most versions of taunt and provoke.

    • Gauntlet and related power effects should now work properly on all ranks of targets. Underlings, Minions, Lieutenants, Bosses and Elite Bosses should have Gauntlet effects work normally. For Archvillains, Heroes and Giant Monsters, Gauntlet effects require a harder to hit check in order to effect the target.

How does this jump jet compare to the jump jet you get in CoV mayhem missions? Totally different?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Totally.

Both the Raptor Pack and Jump boots you get from your first 2 Mayhem Missions (and soon, your first 2 Safeguard Missions, as I can personally attest to) both mimic travel powers -- the Raptor Pack gives you flight, while the Jump Boots let you super jump.

The Jump Jet, on the other hand, is only good on it's own for a short-term vertical boost. You may be able to jump infinitely high with it on, but you don't gain any extra movement in another direction. It's good for getting on rooftops and over other obstacles. It does, however, provide a boost when used with a travel power. You super jump farther, fly faster, and gain vertical mobility while superspeeding.
  20. I sure hope that the TR devs know just what a tremendous community rep they're getting in you, Cuppa. This place probably would've melted down like Chernobyl without you keeping things in check, and you've been as vital to the success of this game as anybody who's written code, animated effects, or written storylines -- Posi and States included. And should, heaven forbid, TR turn out to be unsuccessful, I know that it won't be due to the community.

I have the upmost faith in Cricket fully taking over the reigns of this asylum, and it's my hope that everyone here shares that faith. The lady has certainly proven herself to be capable of handling a nerd frenzy or two during her stay. Besides, if things get too out of hand, she can just unleash ... the swarm!

There was only 3 body types you could choose from: Female, Male, Huge. No scaling or anything until I4

Not true. right from the get-go, you could still adjust your hero's height and general physique with the appropriate sliders. It's only the fine tuning of individual areas that was introduced later.

Another blow to the nuts you might say.

    • Lightning Rod: The Recharge time is now, correctly, 90 seconds and the cast range, which was inadvertantly changed to 90' last patch, is now back to the correct 60' range.

    [/ QUOTE ]
How exactly is this a "blow to the nuts"? The range was mistakenly changed during the previous patch. Now it's back to where it was before that patch, where it should have been all along. This is called a bug fix. Not a nerf.
  23. You certainly can slot End Mods into the attacks. I'm not sure how effective this would be as a replacement for Stamina though. The attacks do drain End from mobs, but you only get End channeled back to you once in a while.
