This made me think of audio auras. I'd love to be surrounded by the soft wailing of theramins, or the beep-booping of those Mother Box-- er, chest panels.
Of course I suppose I'd be kicked from any team I joined, given the way people tend to hate sound effects in this game. -
I wonder if it will launch as hybrid or subscription?
Also, while I have a lot of respect for Paragon, I have to take a wait-and-see approach to the idea of another MMO. This is still the only one I've played to date -- save for installing a F2P game and logging in once -- so I'm curious as to their ability to come up with a genre/setting to entice me into playing another. They've probably got a better chance than anyone else, unless someone gets the license for a game based on Wolfe's "New Sun" universe.
(I have no idea why that concept just came to mind, but now that it has, that would be pretty cool. A complete financial disaster, in all likelihood, but still very cool.) -

Quote:I saw it in the theater, on first release. Thirty-five years ago... *sob*Warning: 35 year old spoiler. <.<
Also, I bow to your superior Tube-Fu, as I wasn't able to find a clip of just that scene. -

Quote:"I wanna show you a trick mother showed me when you weren't around."Honestly, I would have loved that part of the arc much better if, after losing his powers, Statesman said "There's... one thing you should know."
Darrin Wade sneers, "What's that, old man?"
Statesman says "Before... before I was Statesman... I was a soldier." and pulls out a World War I era pistol, and takes a shot at Wade.
Sure, Wade would take the shot and shrug it off, maybe get some tiny little scar on his face from it and then just summon some Rularuu beastie to smack the life out of Marcus Cole... AND then you run the cutscene. -

As much as I find this speculation fascinating, what do you think the odds are that to save the universe we'll still end up having to beat on something until it dies?

I've wondered for a while if some of them have behind-the-scenes uses. A pseudo-contact to let the Inner Circle beta-test SSAs, perhaps, but who slipped into the test/live build. Kind of like the Peregrine Island Warehouse Zone Teleporter that was live for a short time around Hallowe'en.

Quote:That's not Rularuu, that Wadearuu. You can tell by the evil goatee. So I went and log on to this website and saw the Ad for Who will Die Part 7, either it be out today or tomorrow, it has Rularuu Crushing the Earth with his bare hands.
(It also 404s, but that's not a surprise.) -
Quote:We were also supposed to get recipes added in general, but that hasn't happened, either. In the case of power-boosting IOs I can understand, considering the number of dominos those would rattle. But unless the drop system is coded in a really, really, really bad manner, adding different flavors of revolver shouldn't be difficult, even if they were just using different models. I have a few characters would would love to have a Revolver which looks like a ray gun, even if it still went BANG and kicked. What bothers me more than the few powers we have now is that this area of content really hasn't been significantly added to since it was first introduced. I understand that the first batch of powers we got would be sort of a generic "proof of concept" to make sure we could actually craft the powers. But seriously that was how many years ago now? At this point we really ought to have like 100 or more craftable powers, not just the same dozen or so we started with.
For instance we have the one Revolver power. Sure that's fine as a generic "hand gun" power, but why is it that we don't have like 15 or 20 different kinds of "craftable firearms" of all shapes and sizes by now? Theoretically we should be able to run character with only temp powers if we really wanted to - that would allow us to totally customize our characters in so many ways. I'm not asking for more powerful powers, I'm just asking for a huge selection of temp powers.
It almost seems dumb to have the ability to craft temp powers and only have a few to choose from. If anything the Devs ought to be adding at least a few new ones with every Issue update. I think the Devs really missed out on the opportunity to give us more easy to create content in this area. -

Quote:This is my theory, as well. Otherwise it could have been outlined to better tie in with the anniversary promotions.I still think the hype for issue 5 was perhaps because they either became aware of a leak on staff or the assets for the issue went in before the story did and they were sure someone would notice.
Either way it would be preferable to 'spoil' it on their own terms to keep the hype they wanted going before a pig-diver or squealer posted on non-official forums who died and it got passed around as common knowledge. -
Quote:All true. And I forgot about the hammer, which is a handy tool for defenders who find themselves backed into a corner and need a little knockback for a minute.Craftable stuff like the bat, taser, and baton are awesome, if only I could store extra bats somewhere instead of storing the recipe and materials.
It's also kinda awkward that I know exactly how many more hits I can get in with a baseball bat before it breaks, but I can't just toss it and make a new one. -
I use them. Not terribly often, but I've been known to throw an Envenomed Dagger at the odd EB, and my lower levels sometimes toss some grenades around. I agree, though, that seeing orange text float up only to discover I got an ally rez temp is kind of a drag.

Quote:I'm still having the problem, but only with my Inspiration window. Every time I zone, including into or out of a mission, I have to move it back into place.A few months back, a number of players--myself included--reported a very annoying bug wherein any "undocked" windows, such as the Inspiration window, moved randomly around the screen each time a character changed zones. I seem to be encountering the issue again following I22's release, and I'm wondering if I'm the only one or if others are again running into this?

Quote:I've never had one of these. The closest was a low-level mission against CoT that mutated into 40+ CoT.Hahah that's awesome....
Now I'm tempted to get a random paper/radio mission and just hold on to it just to see if I get a cool bug like one of ones described here!
I do have find memories of when the system would default to 5th Column Mek-Men models if it couldn't find the appropriate resource. Oh, and one mission back in the first year when we went in, team-wiped, went back in and found another team already in there, and conned as enemies. Hearing the discussion on the "leaks from the future" some people have seen, I wonder if that was a leak from CoV and the release of PVP? -
And this is why I like the new Dark Astoria content more than all the iTrials combined.
-
Can I just apply a "That's what SHE said!" to the entire thread?
-
Back to the original discussion. I happened to notice this today, on the Info tab for Daedalus.
"Daedalus is the finest crafter these ancient times have ever seen. His gift borders on Celestial, but is in fact simply his own genius at work."
Celestial is referenced a few times in Cimerora, and then there's the costume set. If it isn't another dropped bit of lore, I wonder where Celestial fits into the divine power ladder.

Hear, hear. There's a remarkable reliance on blind faith in the PP market system, and as we move further into "similar but different" territory with regard to enhancements, it behooves the seller to provide more information.

Also, allowing someone to respec into another AT and/or power set would make it even easier for a Free player to try out everything while only having two character slots.
