  1. How did a wishlist for i20 turn into a flamewar about PvP?

  3. I saw an intriguing loadscreen yesterday. It said, "With Praetoria and Primal Earth looming ever closer can war be far behind?" I know that most of these are written by players but what if this was written by a dev? It sounds very much like a teaser for coming issues. No one seems to be acknowledging the obvious though. Praetoria is only 20 levels in it's present form and the only way in is to create new characters. GR and Praetoria have been spouting off about "The Hamidon Wars". It's common knowledge that many players are unhappy with the lack of endgame material and that most agree PvP in this game sux. Positron has already mentioned that he is working on new endgame content. I think that i20 will incorporate a little or maybe even a lot of all of these things. Will factions be able to control Hamidons and use them against each other in PvP? What will take place in the remaining 30 levels that will open up Praetoria to the whole playerbase? Will those other 30 levels be full blown PvP zones? Will we finally get a system put into place that allows players to choose whether or not they want to PvP in PvP zones like there is in other games? What's up with zowies? The devs promoted them like they were going to be much more significant than they are now. I know that there's problems with them. They also seem kind of lame just as glowies in open areas. It leads me to believe that there is coming content for open zone missions that will only been seen by the players on the team. There's also this:

It was posted on the CoH facebook page on Sept. 3rd with the caption, "What could this mean? Find out at the City of Heroes panel at Pax Prime tomorrow morning!" Could it mean that they are working on an auto-teaming system? If you attended that panel and it doesn't break the NDA could you let us know?

    Servers Up?

Maybe they're launching i19? (Fingers crossed)

It is not being removed from the game at all. It is only becoming an inherent powerset which means that at a certain level everyone will get it. If your character is already at a high enough level to where you already have it or have already passed it up you will have to do a respec to make it inherent.
  6. Does anyone use the Energy Manipulator chance for stun proc? Would it work at all in stamina? Why or why not? How about a power like transference? I'm just wondering if it's at all useful and what those uses might be.
  7. As long as it's slottable I'm all for the change. I'm not sure how I'll work up my builds until I find out the exact logistics but having health and stamina for free rocks!!
  8. Oh man, if only he can get Sam Raimi, Tim Burton, John Landis, Robert Rodriquez, and Wes Craven to direct it.

LoL I just had to look up the actor who played Nightcrawler so I could see what you were talking about. Btw, to the poster who mentioned he once knew a woman named Gay, that was my mother's aunt's name. I met her as a teen and used to giggle about it behind her back.

That said, I can understand why the guy's account was flagged. Like one of the previous posters mentioned, it's one of those words that get flagged by software. The fact that MS gave him back his account after they realized the mistake should be the end of it.

Watch the 60's Batman television series and tell me they didn't wear hats like that then.
  11. I have to agree with the OP on this one, at least the part about kinetic melee. I was one of those people who complained about it in beta too. Every time I hear one I have to ask the player how he likes his new hot wheels powerset.

Another way they could fix this is to give us more time to attempt to kill him before the cubes respawn. 1 minute is a really small window. Maybe they could lower his regen rate a little too.

I didn't realize there was more than one kind of AV. The one we had last night was definitely storm.

Thanks for all the helpful insight guys. I'm gonna stick with the decision I made last night and wait until I have all my incarnate powers before I make another go at it.
  13. What's the key to winning this thing? We had 24 people all of which had shivans, HVAS, and full sets of nukes. I've read all of the guides and I've tried everything. Last night was my 5th consecutive weekly attempt and fail. We had at least 3 debuffers on each team. The way we tried last night was to drop our temps between shield drops. First round shivans and HVAS, second round bio nukes, etc... The most we were able to damage him was about 20%. Should we just unload everything on him as soon as his shields go down the first time and try to get him all in one shot?
  14. Someone told me in-game about the fitness pool becoming inherent. Does anyone know how effective stamina and health will be once this comes online? Part of me is excited about this and part of me is worried that it will screw up alot of my builds as I like slotting health with the 3 procs (miracle, numi's, and panacea).

If sign-ups are still on-going, I can bring a buffer (/kin, /sonic, /therm, or /pain) I have a Crab and a Widow as well, but would prefer to play support.
Thanks, find me in-game we've been doing sign-ups on the fly due to the low response on the forums. The therm and the pain sound like the best options as we will need all the debuffs we can get. The only difference between my forum name and my global is there's a space in it, @Ghoul Slayer.

Ok, but how much is huge? This answer is just as vague as the post on the wiki.
  17. Ummm, did you see Revenge of the Sith? The entire cast was either duped into supporting the empire or in it from the beginning in one way or another. If memory serves Yoda was the only one that had misgivings about it (I haven't seen it in a couple of years), but he still fought alongside stormtroopers. In fact, the most hated character in all of the Star Wars universe (Jar Jar Binks) was the puppet that Palpatine used to shut down the Senate.
  18. Does anyone know what triggers the timer? Is it when the portal is opened or when the first person enters the trial?

Does anyone know what ParagonWiki is alluding to when they say a huge mission bonus? They said your choices for rewards were either a temp power and a small amount of merits (6) or a large amount of merits. I found out later that the "LARGE" amount of merits was only 10.
  19. The link to Human Being's guide doesn't work. It takes me to a page that says I don't have access. Either it's in the closed beta forum which I'm not sure if I have any access to anymore or it's a lost link.

Thanks so much for this VoodooGirl. I'll be joining you there shortly.
  21. Venu Sovereignty and Shadow Souls are hosting another CoP trial. This is not for new players, bring only your best, fully IO'd level 50 toons. Full villains and rogues only. Vigilantes can not enter villain bases therefore will not be able to join. We're going to need 3 full teams. That's 24 players. Everyone will need to collect Shivans, full sets of nukes, and HVAS before we go. When, you say? Monday September 6, 2010 at 9 pm est. Enter the base through RWZ to take advantage of the close proximity of the hospital, inspiration collectors and the computer to get more HVAS units. This is not an SF. If someone dc's they won't automatically rejoin the team. If they quit or don't come back after they dc, we need to replace them.

    What to expect:

    1. Lot's of Rularuu. There is a 60 minute timer to complete the trial. I'm not sure whether it starts when the portal is opened or when the first person enters. If anyone can help with this info, please do.

    2. The 3 pillars need to be taken down simultaneously. That means each team will take one pillar. We will take each one down to approximately 20-30% hp. When all 3 pillars are roughly the same damage we will then but not before destroy them. In order to break the shields on each pillar we need to kill the mobs of Rularuu near each one. I will lead the north team with Dark Flea. IceUnshackled will lead the center team. The last team will go south.

    3. Enter the portal at the center. North team will go to the left cube, center to the center cube, and south to the right cube. Clear the mobs at each cube to lower the shields on the AV. You will have approximately 1 minute. Debuff the AV!! Drop shivans and HVAS. Attack the AV until his shields go up then run back to your cube. Clear the mobs again.

    4. Debuff the AV!! Drop bio nukes on the AV and attack him with everything you've got until his shields go up. Go back to your cubes and clear the mobs again.

    5. Repeat step 4 with chemical nukes.

    6. Repeat step 4 with nuclear nukes.

Each of the 3 teams will need:

Debuffs and damage!! Debuffs are the key to winning so if we are to be heavy on anything it should be debuffs.

    1 or 2 melee

3 or more debuffers (at least 1 cold)

2 or more dominators and controllers

    2 damage dealers

Everyone will need Shivans, HVAS, and full sets of nukes!! If you don't have them you won't be able to join. Leadership of any kind will help immensely (Veat or pool). So, try to bring toons with it if you can.

You will have your choice of 2 rewards: either a random 7 day temporary power and 6 merits or 10 merits. You get nothing for failing this trial, not even xp or inf. You will also receive the Pain Killer badge for completing the trial. Rumors have been floating around that there are two badges associated with this trial but I can neither confirm nor disprove this. I'm not sure how to get the second badge if it even exists. According to ParagonWiki, "Each member also gets a huge end of mission bonus to compensate for not gaining any experience, INF, or drops in the mission."

Here is a tentative table of the temporary powers:

    From MTS
    The Perfect Eye:
    +50% Perception
    +15% Accuracy

    The True Furnace:
    +10 Max End
    +33% Endurance drain resist

    Heart of a Storm Elemental:
    +5% HP
    +40% Regen

    Anger Monument:
    +25% Smashing/Lethal Damage
    +20% Damage (all other types)

Monument of Iron (BUG: calls itself Crystal of Resilience in the power description):
+1 Mag Stun, Hold, Sleep, Immob protection
    +50% Stun, Hold, Immob resist
    +75% Sleep resist

We will be using Ventrilo to communicate. I'll give you the information in-game. Please have it whether you have a mic or not so you can at least listen to instructions.

Here's some great guides to help with strategy:

    ParagonWiki

VoodooGirl's guide to the Cathedral of Pain - This guide is the most up to date but there's some good information in the others as well.
Magia's guide to the Cathedral of Pain - Some of the information is outdated, i.e. Items of Power, but the strategy is still the same.
Lady Sadako's guide to the Cathedral of Pain - Same as Magia's it's not up to date but the strategy is sound.

Thanks to all of those who put all their hard work into creating these guides.

    Boosting RWZ

Having been someone who has led several raids, I personally think that this is way too much for most people. I recently stopped leading them because it takes about 30-40 people to successfully accomplish a raid and most of the people that go on these raids have the attention span of a gnat. Most of them don't even realize that you have to move away from the bomb doors once a bomb is planted. When you tell them to move they stand there like deer in the headlights. People start shouting orders and running every which way when the leader is trying to keep them together. MS raids are already a pain in the ***. What you are asking for is beyond the comprehension of most of the sheep that come to these slaughters.
  23. I want to apologize and explain why I'm not going to be leading raids at least for awhile. Tuesday morning's raid on Virtue was a mess. I lost my temper and called everyone in the zone a moron (and I probably said some other things that I don't remember but still regret just as much). I was wrong for that outburst but this is what led up to it:

It's nearly impossible to lead 30-40 people when only 10 are listening, 5 are shouting orders, and the rest are either clueless or caught in the middle. We were stretched out all along the edge near the bomb grates. No one would move when bombs were set so teams were wiping all over the place. I kept telling everyone to move up and stay together but not even my own team was doing so. After several wipes I decided to regroup on the right side ledge over the bowl. I had people shouting to go all over the place. I was standing on the ledge telling people to regroup as I watched about 15-20 people drop like flies into the bowl. The shields went back up and I lost it. Like I said, I was wrong but I wanted you all to know why.
  24. I really didn't like the previous build. Too many things didn't seem to work right. I scrapped the idea of going dual leadership. I decided to still go petless (is this a mistake?) and concentrate on AoEs and recharge. I think this is a much better build. I think there's a bug in mid's the crab version of frag grenade wouldn't unlock until I took the soldier version and when I tried to take both the soldier version turned red. I prefer the crab version. The soldier version is only there because it wouldn't let me take the crab. I had posi's blast wherever I could use it for the recharge bonus but doing so put me way over the accuracy cap. Should I ignore those accuracy cap indicators and put it back for the recharge bonuses or am I good with hasten? I kind of like the idea of slotting Omega for taunt though (and I still get a 5% bonus instead of 6.25%).

  25. I threw this together kind of willy nilly, so I know that it needs alot of work. I read Lobster's guide before I did anything. I was going for dual leadership and as much AoE/Cone attacks as I could get. For some reason Mid's wouldn't let me take frag grenade (crab version) which I really wanted. Also, I know that I should have taken mental training much earlier. I also want high recharge (I hope you can tell from my slotting). Any help you guys can give in achieving my goals would be much appreciated. Because of my love for mm's he currently has all the pets he can get but I played him earlier and after realizing how much he sucks in his current build, I decided that dual leadership is a much better way to go.
