  1. What's the best rare set for a lvl 50 dark/kin corr to use to defend against status effects such as stun, hold, and immobilize? My guy is pretty awesome already but if he gets stunned or held it takes forever to wear off. I would like to either avoid this altogether or cut down on the time i get held/stunned.

    My Base

    Ok, the base building bug has really started taking hold of me. I spent about 30 hours of the last 2 days working on our throne room. I am extremely proud of the results. Not only does it look amazing but I was able to make this entire room with very little of the glitchy squiggles that you normally see in a work of this magnitude. It came out beyond even my expectations. There are 1431 pieces in this room.
    Let me give you a little idea of the lore that I am presently formulating for our base theme. Our base was hewn from the inside of an active volcano. What you see in the ceiling of the throne room is the bottom of a crab shaped alien spaceship which crashed into it. That's all I've got so far. More to come.

    My Base

    As promised here are some new pics including some stuff that was made by my VG mate Mynd Games. I'll explain them as I go.

    The new entrance to our base I really didn't like the old one.

    This is our Medbay it was designed by Mynd Games.

    The gates of hell. The name explains itself. I spent more time trying to figure out how to make this room than I did making it but I'm very pleased with the outcome.

    The Bad Place. This is a closer view of the hellish room.

    The Hall of Kings. This is another of Mynd Games' creations. It leads into his room.

    Hangar 1. This is a view of the hangar bay from the medbay. Notice the runway lights, the garage door rails, and the garage door opener.

    Hangar 2. I took this pic to show the cables that run alongside the door as well as the door itself.

    Hangar 3. Here's a shot of the flyer from the front.

    Layout. Here's how our base is laid out. We'll probably move some things around to create better continuity once we get tired of building.

    This is a new shot of our porter room. I added the rubble as stepping stones. I don't know if you can tell from this pic but they are all floating at different levels. I plan to create an oasis in there but we need a lot more prestige for that.

    The rest of these are all pics of Mynd Games' room. He just finished it (mostly). I'll let the pics speak for themselves.

  5. Ok, I've been looking around because I found a lava room in an old base that had smoke coming from the floor. Now I found this post and *gasp* you can do some amazing things with it. How do you do this? Please tell me. I just discovered stacking a couple of weeks ago and our base has been under major renovations ever since but I have yet to figure this out.

    Ok, I've been monkeying around and figured it out. I don't know why it seemed so hard.
  6. How do u place it below the floor without stacking? I tried a couple of things but neither worked. First, I tried raising a floor tile above the bonfire and yes it did give the illusion that smoke was coming from the floor but the color and texture were wrong. Is there a way to change that? Then I tried lining up some reddish cabinets on top of the bonfire and had similar results. It looked more like a burning wooden floor instead of lava. Is it a discontinued floor texture? Is it something they crafted?
  7. I visited a base on Pinnacle called Animosity and found this room. I can't for the life of me figure out how they made it. The lava itself looks like just red cobblestone but how did they make the smoke? It's an older VG and from what my friend said I don't think it's gotten much use for a long time so I think we can rule out stacking. Can anyone explain what they did?

    Thanks again the frame is made out bookshelves there's over 1500 of them in it and the floor is from cabinets if you look closely you can see that the floor has 2 levels. I got the idea from my VG mate Mynd Games he did the same with his office. It isn't finished yet but when he's done I'll post pics of it too.

    Thanks guys both of those took hours. The fireplace was my first project. I didn't copy it exactly but I relied heavily on ones that I had seen in After Hours' SG on hero side Virtue for inspiration. Just wanna give credit where credit is due.

    I just discovered stacking yesterday and I've been rather busy. I have made various base modifications using the stacking tool. I wanted to show them off and get some feedback and/or suggestions.

    Mouth of the Beast This is the entrance to our tp room.

    Enter the Dragon This is the base entrance. Not much stacking going on here except for the holograms that I put on bricks.

    Our teleporter room. I raised the porters so that they look like hanging birdcages. I also placed the beacons directly on the porters and added the crystals for decoration.

    Base items

    I've been working on my base a lot lately and I have a couple of suggestions. If anyone else has suggestions for base items this would be a good place to put them. My base is arcane themed so both of these suggestions are arcane themed. First of all, the item under lighting that is labeled "hanging fixture" is not a light source. Could you modify it so that it is. I would like it if it had a torch in the middle of it. The one thing that we don't have that I would really really really like (oh please please) is a hanging torch chandelier made of iron and wood. I would like it to be available in small, medium, and large sizes. I found some images online that are close to what I would like to see but not exactly.


    This is the closest one to what I would like to see but instead of candles I would like torches (like the wall torch that is already available in-game). I would also like heavier chains and a thicker wooden ring with iron spindles.

    P.S. I thought of another idea that wouldn't fit in with my arcane theme but someone else might like is ceiling fans with lighting fixtures.

    All Mastermind VG

    We are currently recruiting any and all masterminds. We are a fairly new VG (about 4 months) with some pretty active coalitions. Our base is minimal but all of our coalies have full bases. RP is not necessary. We have only one rule no drama. We have regularly scheduled meet up times for SFs and such which are Mondays at 7:30pm est and Saturdays at 2:00pm est. That doesn't mean you can't play at other times. If interested contact @Ghoul Slayer or @Tiggy in-game.

    If you are using a Power Crystal with two Crystal Focuses attached and still do not have enough power, then it is time to upgrade to a Ley Tap. It'll cost about 1 million prestige to PLACE the guy once he's made. Considering the Power Crystal only cost you around 200k, it's quite a significant jump.

    If you are using a non-secure base plot, the ability to place two energy items in a room is going to waste. I would consider dropping to a lower cost room, unless you are using the space for other things. It will help start saving up that million prestige you need.

    For quick prestige, you can convert influence/infamy to prestige. The rate is 1 million inf to buy 2000 prestige. Also, if your group is below 15 members, pad it with alts until you have 15 members to get 20,000 prestige for each body. Neither method will really work well if you have a long way to go, but they can help start. Finally, don't forget about the Monitor Duty day job - it grants increased prestige earnings on mission completion.
    Thanks, this sounds like exactly the info I needed. I'll have to try it out and let you know.

    I installed the Ley Tap and it looks like I have enough power now tyvm. I had already made the energy generator from the expert forge. I didn't have enough prestige to place it but I had plenty for the Ley Tap.

    Base building

    I need more power in my base but I can't figure out how to do it. My base is arcane themed and I don't want to break the theme if I don't have to. I have two energy rooms in my base and both of them say that I can place 2 energy items. I only have one energy item in one of them but when I try to place another one it won't let me. I tried to add energy aux items but they don't give me enough power either. Please help.

    Character Bios

    I would say that around 30% of my toons have bios. Honestly, bios have very little to do with whether or not I enjoy them, although I do have some bios that I absolutely love. One of my favorites is also one of the simplest. He's a stalker and his bio goes like this...

  17. Maybe I'll feel the same when I get to 66 months but seeing as I just hit 30 a few days ago. I'm hoping that they keep the vet rewards rolling. It probably helps that I noticed my next 3 or 4 rewards are ones that I've been anticipating and looking forward to for awhile.

    Costume Macros

    Here's a neat little tip that I like to use. Try adding a funny tagline to use with your costume change emote. Here's the full macro that I use on Sourpuss when she changes from her catwoman costume to a "huge" male version wearing the same costume which always elicits huge laughs from my team: macro 1 "say Kitty Kat needs some milk$$cce 2 ccsuperserum"

    Maybe it's time to upgrade your connection and/or computer. It sounds like you're either running a computer that can barely handle the game or using dial-up or both.
  20. I teamed with some guy who said that he found CoH in a bargain bin for $6 at Wal-Mart yesterday. This could be a shrewd move to lure in more players. I hope that's all that it is.

  22. I rebuilt most of my puter over the summer and I have to say the difference between my old Geforce 7600 and the new GTX 260 is startling. I also upgraded my motherboard from an Asus M2V to a MSI k9nsli v2 (for future upgrades), I went from 1gb ram to 2gb, and my power supply from a 200 watt weakling to a 750 watt octopus on steroids. >8) I also added 2tb external HD. I should be good to go.

    My next upgrades will be Windows 7 64bit Ultimate Edition, 4gb ram, Quad-core processor, and a Blu-Ray burner.

    Nec/FF disaster

    This is what I came up with and I played him for a couple of hours last night. Now the build is very tight. I like it much better. I can do more than send my pets out and frantically try to keep them and the team alive. He's much more fun now. Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, I only used mid's to display what I made after it was done. It gave me a headache trying to follow it without a reference. None of the powers are in the order that I took them but this is the build as it looks at level 50:

Lately, I've been trying to log in about an hour early to recruit (our numbers were dwindling but we had a full team on Sat.). Presently, we're working on the Lorenz Ansaldo story arc. We left off right before the Sea Witch mission on Saturday. Some of the guys who are in the same level range have been auto completing Lorenz's missions. He caps at level 24. So for those playing at home if you're auto completing the arc and you want all the infamy, prestige, and bonuses turn off xp before you hit 25.
