I like the idea
I'd be curious to see how they get around the differences in weapons: riffles and swords are held in the same hand, but point in different directions... a 'look at riffle' mode could very well impale a character on his/her own sword.
Then there's the dual wielding, pistols and claws that have one in each hand.
I think it'd be rather hard to make it happen, but by golly, I hope they do -
The Devs hate Villains so much they put in ED before hand!

[ QUOTE ]
Ignorant people playing as in people who refuse to reply to tells, or believe your out of there level range because your -2 levels. Yes i know theres a good chance there just afk, but last week i bound this 'Hi $target, im a level (cant remember level at time) any chance of an invite to your team please?'
[/ QUOTE ]
The first is more rude then ignorant (unless they don't know how to respond).
The second is indeed ignorant, but then a team where 7 members are -2 doing the highest lvl missions isn't a good idea either
A useful tool I use when making a team: /t $target,
then there's the %level that fills your level in makes it more useful across the levels -
Aren't you a little early with this?
Usually these merger posts happen on Fridays...
[ QUOTE ]
Also there seems to be a giant increase in the lack of ignorance when asking to join a team, a lot of the time people dont even bother to reply anymore.
[/ QUOTE ]
I must say that the 'asking to join a team' is a trend of the last 6 months or so... It used to be "want to join my team?", maybe there in lies an answer?
People in a team are usually busy, the team is chatting/fighting so it's quite easy to loose track of a tell or two, or not taking the time to respond to them.

Ignorant? Ignorant of what? -
One weekend I played the scrapper version of my tank: Tower of Power.
Broadsword/Inv (as opposed to inv/ss).
I logged on, lvl 10 in the Hollows and got a new mission, which happened to be Frosty.
I don't often feel like teaming, even less so to start one, but that weekend I did.
The team ended up with 5 scrappers, 2 controllers and a defender.
I took that team through most of the day, ploughing through just about everything that came in our path.
That was great funpeople left and were replaced (preferably by the same AT). The leveling was good too, I got several tells over the day by people who came back from having logged to see if there's room.
That Sunday I logged on Tower of Power. as well, withing 2 minutes I had tells asking if I had a new team!
That was a good weekend, probably not impressive level wise, 12 levels in 2 days, but it was good in my book!
Almost a shame that now, a few months later he's still lvl 22
So, basically... 5 scrappers and 3 support AT's -
I have 2 accounts, bless me.
I transfer recipies, salvage and inf TO my Main Crafter.
With a little inf to the newbies here and there if they need it.
I do craft IO's at various levels for the badges, and often use them on other alts.

perhaps a global server influence and infamy account?
if u make any amount of influence on any hero char on a chosen server. then every hero on that server has access to the inf that you made. same for your villains and infamy.

It's perfect as power armour and that's how I've been using it. I just wish AR didn't suck so bad.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why does AR suck?
Seems fine for me.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's one of those general 'wisdoms' that may or may not be true.
More likely the player is more suited to other style blasters and thus find it sucks (when clearly, it spits. bullets... and fire, grenades, bean bags...) -

My question to NCsoft is that now that you have canned a fair chunk of our EU.community team, and players are rallying round to provide for each other....
[/ QUOTE ]
From a community team of 11, the only redundancy is Kerensky. We're all very sad to see him leaving us.
Rockjaw, Aero and the other member of their team are all leaving and yes, that's a significant loss of talent and resources, but it's not going to stop us doing cool things in the future.
<snip>
Will there be changes as a result of the changes that have occurred? Certainly. That doesn't mean we're dead and going to do absolutely nothing. Just to get us started, we've got members of the French community team heading to a show in Paris in the coming weeks.
[/ QUOTE ]
Things are changing and uncertain, with a restructuring you don't know how far things change.
I would imagine that it is quite likely that funding for events will go to cons and such where there's at least some clear commercial promotion value.
If that were the case, that puts Omega Sector as a "for the fans" event at risk, as it draws excisting players, not new ones.
Now, Omega Sector was uber cool. It was said near the end to (quoting from memory) "keep next Easter open" and that "Omega Sector has already agreed to be available".
Given the costs invovled with travel and lodging, I thought I'd book well in advance to have the best pick and the highest 'early booking' discount.
On top of that, I know someone who will have to decide whether to ask for those days off in a month to still have a decent chance to get the days off.
I'm rather glad that I postponed that enough to read this:
[ QUOTE ]
It's really too early to say one way or the other right now, however if there's a way for it to happen I'll be doing my darnedest to find it!
[/ QUOTE ]
Which reads to me like "we'd like to, but there's no way of saying if there'll be room in the policies we'll have to work with: don't hold your breath"
Sorry if this is an overly pessimistic point of view, but I've seen too many great people with great and logical plans be shot down by the company that employs them.
Long story short:
I have every convidence in the EU team.
I have little convidence in NCWest.
Oh, to make it clear, this is about community events, not the game, as I have every convidence in that staying very healthy. -

We DO appressiate you

Yes, really we do!

and hope more RED NAMES on the team will communicate more often with the boards.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes we hope for more communication, but I for one doubt it'll be more. I wonder if it'll stay on the same level.
(I think I've seen about 50% of the announcements made by players, then backed by official statement - though realise this is probably due to the Americans, time diference and translation time) -
[ QUOTE ]
Hmm... You've managed to reign her in before, so I'm sure you can do it again.
Perhaps it would be best if, on her arrival, she joins Zori with trying to talk Ellie into a safer place?
[/ QUOTE ]
You're right, I'll likely reign her in during life RP, and with Zori there, she'd be more likely to keep her cool. -
[ QUOTE ]
Considering that FFM decided that a squad of Malta are involved
[/ QUOTE ]
Incarcerated Malta, so sans the equipment, just with their training. -
Grav would indeed head to the Zig upon hearing of Ellie's transfer.
With the intent to demand immidiate visitation... prepared to blast her way in if need be.
This presents me with a problem.
I've made Grav too powerful in the past. And for plot purposes, her mental disposition isn't what it used to be in regards to other people.
In her frame of mind, I wouldnt put it past her to create a black hole near the roof if she cant walk through the gate.
This is the problem, I cant really play her down in this instance, and I doubt itd be fun for others to RP having to deal with her.
Ill ponder it a bit, in the meantime, I welcome peoples thoughts on this
Its fairly easy for me to have the excuse that she isnt reachable by BODICIA at the time until after the situation has progressed past such a point. -
Shame, really... Not long after last Easter Omega Sector 2009 was 95% sure, now....?
Nice to hear you want to make it happen GR, but... just a shame you can't back that up with the company. (at this time)
I hope Steve and Chris will make it to OS, even if it's just as guests (though preferably on the bridge of that cruise ship) -
I've been thinking, and the problem with the undo button is that all changes are live.
To solve this, maybe the base could be locked down - Under Construction.
This could likely hinder the SG while the base is being edited.
An other (more resource heavy) thought I had was to copy the base to a virtual space, where you can alter what you want, and the base will still be operational. Upon submitting the altered base, there could be like a 30 or 60 second warning before everyone is booted from the base (put that bug to use) before the new base is put in place.
A possible problem with this might be the storages? -
[ QUOTE ]
What is really unacceptable is not paying attention, and that's why I dislike multi-scene players. They may think they're doing a fine job, but they aren't. Someone playing only one scene can always tell.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed, that's why I don't do it in such busy settings as GG.
And it's noticable, yes... but then, I'm used to the other one browsing the internet, watching a movie, play a game and such on the side... so I do the same. -
If it's a PuG, I'll actually take more liberties.
Ie: just say "brb", "brb - bio" or "afk" for the reasons I need to go afk. When it takes longer then I expected/find social, I'll return to say sorry, it's better I log out (if I can return). There's also the times where the brbs follow each other too fast, and then I'll log too.
How ever, I have no qualms with going afk for 15 minutes to go to the bathroom, get a drink, and such.
Though some teams that are better/friendlier, I'll also be more considerate.
If it's a team of friends, I'll try to limit my afk time, and state the reasons better.
on RP... I've been known to RP three scenes at the same time, admittedly, that was on IRC and rare. I do RP 2 scenes at the same time often enough. I don't do this and be in a mass/public RP scene like GG.
It's the small scenes that allow for this, when I know the othr players well enough, regarding their speed and such, also, often enough I'll give the warning that "I'm also RPing an other scene, but that shouldn't slow me down too much"
But yeah, going fully AFK in the middle of a scene is annoying, rather rude if it's for such reasons as ironing... -
[ QUOTE ]
That would be the safe paths for base raiding. You have to be able to reach any targetable objects within one avatar width which means certain items 'block' this route
[/ QUOTE ]
The only raidable object is in an other room, not the one I want the path to be... although the new room also wants a door on the square where the raidable object is, might be it? -
[ QUOTE ]
Perhaps the rooms shouldn't attempt to build a doorway on ceation just be happy to be placed where a doorway conection is possible. A door must be placed for the base to be considered acceptable. Also when you try to place a doorway it will 'red flag' the object/s preventing it's placement.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is actually a rather good idea and would prevent half of the annoyance with placing a room (the doors have to be in -that- place).
[ QUOTE ]
The tree models should have been also designed so the centre of there bounding box coindides with the centre of there base as creating an avenue of trees looks a little off kilter, Sorry /rant mode
[/ QUOTE ]
Aye, a look at the bounding boxes is also needed... -
[ QUOTE ]
Can I nominate Alhpane for his cool avatar?
The Avatar!
[/ QUOTE ]
You could, but if I were you, I'd wait until next month when it can be nominated for the September CG and it has a chance instead of being disqualified for August due to posting date. -
With attempting to add a room beside a decorated room for on a few different occassions, I decided to clear the tile I wanted to the 'door' to be attached, but of the editor wanted it on the tile beside that. So I clear that one too, and it STILL won't let me add the room. Something about not being able to get to it or something.
Maybe I should open up the opening in the mock wall I use...
Rant aside, a base editer that is not as fiddly as a <self censored> would be nice.
[edit]And an undo button would also be nice, so you can put it back the way it was before you were trying to do things it won't let you... -

"For there to be improvement, there must be change (how ever slight or big). But not every change is an improvement"
I'm a forum lurker, I read rather then post
I'm also someone who can access these forums from work, when I find the time to do something for myself. I'm also a bright guy, and have a fair understanding of the game. I know I don't know all the details.
It's quite likely that if I post something about the game, it's from my understanding of it. In my humble opinion, it's rather possible it's also the truth of the game mechanics
You don't need to log 2,000,000 in the game to understand it. In fact, the finer points and details are quicker to learn in other places, like these fora.
(for instance, I've never used Mids, but I'm sure I can use that to get a good build faster then the average player using just ingame information)
Instead of running from the discussion on how the game works, why not debate it with those whose view differs from yours, present examples, ask for examples? -

Back on topic... Forum RP... some explaining I did and thought it'd be good to post them in here too.
Here are some forum RP tips
It's a lot like normal RP, each taking turns to say/do stuff. Just usually takes a whole lot longer as the time between the replies tend to be hours instead of minutes.
This can cause continuation problems when Forum RP overlaps with ingame RP.
There's the difference that Forum RP tends to have more description as it lacks the visual reference.
In some cases, the posts could be rather short after the initial 'setting the scene' as it's more dialogue or PvP battles rather then PvEish actions.
Also, to speed things along in forum RP, it's not unusual to actually say/do two or three things, making small assumptions on behalf of the other party. This is more common when both players know each other's style more.
