Heh, I almost wish I didn't know more beta invites were going out, as I'm now going to start watching my inbox like a very nervous, jumpy hawk.

Quote:I have arranged the power choices as I would take them below. Not much is different, other than order. I would get Irradiate long before combustion, as the -def will get you more mileage in your earlier levels.1 x-ray
1 ring of fire
2 neutrino bolt
4 combustion
6 hasten
8 electron haze
10 swift
12 aim
14 health
16 build-up
18 cosmic burst
20 stamina
22 hover
24 fly
26 neutron bomb
28 consume
30 fire sword circle
32 atomic blast
35 proton volley
38 irradiate
power mastery
1 conserve power
2 temp invul
Any ideas on how I can make this better would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
I dropped Electron Haze and Proton Volley entirely, though there is still room for both if you prefer them. Rad/Fire will pretty much reside in melee to take advantage of it's many PBAOE's so a cone and a snipe will get very little use.
I also swapped out hover for combat jumping and swift for hurdle. This will give you MUCH more maneuverability into and out of melee (something you WILL want as a melee-centric blaster).
Lastly, I know cold mastery isn't a thematic fit, but it plays much more to a rad/fire's weaknesses than would power mastery (defense v. resist armor, +hp and heal, one of the best panic buttons ever). Who knows, maybe with power customization, you can make ice work for you (fused glass maybe)?
One bit of advice... when it comes time for slotting for sets, I would definitely recommend looking for any and all sets to buff up your PBAOE defense, as you'll get shredded by that quicker than anything while you're bouncing in and out of combat.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Quote:There have been a couple of changes to the way TFs are set up (like the team not automatically disbanding after the TF finishes). I know Poshyb talked about experimenting with "lighter" or "relaxed" TF rules (in i14 beta), one example of which was inviting people to the TF after it had been started (the way AE arcs are set up now).Task Forces have always required characters to be of the minimum. We've never been able to SK into them. I see no reason why that would change.
Just thought that maybe the new super-sidekicking system might bring with it another "relaxed" rule for TFs. I know the STs I've run that rely almost entirely on TF content would LOVE that. -

This is actually why I don't have any characters with tails. While animated or dynamic tails would be very nice, I can understand it's no small undertaking. However, the current ultra-low-poly look most of the tails have now are just too... unrefined/blocky for my tastes.

Hmmm... interesting backstory indeed. The name that pops into my mind would be Sympatico Paralytica (more or less the paralysis of sympathy). Not technically a mental disorder by any means, but sounds like it could... and sounds like something she might find in her pocket or on a hospital bracelet.
It's a bit more "super hero name" than something she would expect to be her actual name, but... I think it kinda fits anyway (and isn't likely to be taken). -
This is true of all powers sharing that animation (Base teleporters, Mission teleporter, Market teleporters). The problem appears to be occurring 100% of the time, regardless of the conditions (at least in my experience).

Quote:I get the exact same result. It's the ultimate hope-smasher.yeah mine is the same way. previously it would say "this account doesn't have access to the test server at this time due to the issue x closed beta blah blah", but now it's just saying "lost connection to dbserver" when i click training room.
...Trying again...
...maybe...
Lol, now I get "You must fill out the account and password fields to log in to your account!" when I click the training room.
This --> linky <-- pretty much sums up how the message makes me feel. Le sigh. -
A-MAZING.
i16 needs to hurry up and get rolling into beta -

So... since you seem to be allowed to share some, would it be too much to ask for a power list?
(I am shamelessly addicted to new shinies)
[/ QUOTE ]
Too much to ask? Not at all. I'd love to tell you...except, you know, marketing timelines and all of that pretty much say I can't.
Yet.
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh, figured as much. As much as I understand the need for those timelines, our need to know and your desire to share really SHOULD trump them... right?
Really, there are so many shiny new things for the playerbase to speculate about in this issue, I can see *many* weeks of tidbits and breadcrumbs being given to satisfy us as we wait for the betas... I'll just have to figure out a way to survive from update to update. -

but other than that they were able to directly port everything over or at least pull powers and visuals from existing powersets.

Then I really don't get earth assault for doms. I know we have the melee attacks from stone melee... but where are the stone blasts coming from?
Or are they using the same animations as other blasts with new particles, which you don't consider different animations?
[/ QUOTE ]
Earth Assault is a special case.
When Sunstorm first started, we gave him some training (read: shackled him to the desk and forced him to look at spreadsheets) and gave him a bunch of bugs to fix to learn the systems.
Fixing Bugs doesn't teach everything, though, so he put together Earth Assault as a set to experiment with and learn the ropes. Eventually, he got it into shape and it turned out to be quite a fun set. We wrote it up as a full proposal for the next round of proliferation, since all the work had already been done...and, here we are.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lol. The Shackles I didn't mind, but the IV's were obnoxious.
No "Eventually" about it, I was play testing it after the first round of proliferation and have been waiting anxiously till I can build one on the live servers. Never played a more "tankish" feeling dominator, despite it having no armors.
Some very good guesses here on the powers, but Earth Assault will be a very melee heavy set. Also opted for the regular Hurl boulder Animation, since the Propel Boulder animation uses the full 3.5 second long propel animation. Now I may be a huge fan of propel for my grav doms/Trollers, but the thought of having 2 versions of it didn't seem too fun.

Stalker - Shields or fire melee
[/ QUOTE ]
Shields doesn't mesh with most stalkers sets or the stalker theme. Fire melee functionally double but breaks theme since how stealthy is a man on fire?
[/ QUOTE ]
Where there's fire, there's smoke...and smoke hides just as well as being invisible. I could easily see a Fiery Melee or Fiery Aura Stalker work. Especially if Placate and Hide involved vanishing into a swirling mass of smoke and embers, and then reappearing in a sudden blazing flash when you strike, like a backdraft.
That could be pretty darn cool.

WANT.
...And I don't even play stalkers... -
Works exactly the same way with the Blackwand too.

I hate this bug.
[/ QUOTE ]
512125125You know, there's something just all-around nice about seeing dev hatred for a bug.
Here's to a successful hunt.
[/ QUOTE ]
The only bug I don't hate is the one with using any power that calls the "Smashcast" animation while you have the Nemesis staff in hand.
I've been very slow to 'fix' that particular one.
[/ QUOTE ]
I hope you never do... or somehow make it a stable feature... it's awesome. -

Per Monday's patchnotes, it's not a bug to give them the powers, it was a bug that they did not use them, they now do:

I'm quite happy to have my Gang War minions back. Gen, or anyone else whos interested, check out arc #1664 on Test.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll be doing so as SOON as I get home -
[ QUOTE ]
I've personally experienced strange issues with Earth Armor units. With some combinations, they won't use their toggles at all. But sometimes, inexplicably, at LOWER levels, they will. My arc is full of level 50 enemies who won't run their armor toggles, but sometimes will if I play it below 50.
[/ QUOTE ]
I want to add to this and say I have NEVER seen custom critters actually use Granite Armor, despite having it selected. This is for every rank it's available (which is boss+ iirc). I don't know if this is due to critters not knowing how to use the mutually exclusive nature of Granite, but it's definitely borked. -
Confirmed. You do it in the same way you tint the NPC, it's just the last step in the edit process.
Yay! -
Where are you looking for these AVs? MANY factions have AVs. Just select a faction (Arachnos has plenty to choose from).
Click the Archvillain tab (there's an all, minion, lieutenant, etc tab on the top left of the custom critter screen).
You should see all of the AVs in the faction you selected.
BTW, the version of the MA that is now on Test will make this method obsolete, as you can select the level range of each mission in your arc. Just an FYI -
Arg, not fixed with the current patch? The bug was introduced in the previous Test build and I got VERY excited to see what minions with Gang War looked like (not that I would ever subject people to that in a published arc!)... sadly, no go
I'm still not convinced limitations should be hard-wired in (for custom), but understand the need to squash griefers and (somehow) balance custom mobs (which is a tall order when the players have control over content). Still... I guess I'll never get to see what an entire mob of minions with ET can do to a tank... <sobs> -
Hey! What happens on Test STAYS on Test...
Though I would have to say (if this had ever happened)... discovering that Gen had tough, weave and dimension shift (on Test only) was even more hilarious. -

What's an iPod? *Still listen to 8 Track.*
[/ QUOTE ]
My first car, that I drove to high school in the early 90s, was a 1978 Mercury Grand Marquis and it had a functioning 8 track player. It was later given to one of my uncles who turned it into a shrimp boat (the car, not the 8 track player.) I've always assumed he did this by simply attaching some nets to it, since it was already fairly boat-like.
Some may wonder..."BABs! What the heck are you posting this for, here in the Guardian forums?"
The answer is, cause some of the people over in Justice are getting all cocky about the number of viewers their section has right now, and I'm proving a point that maybe that has more to do with a link to their section through the dev digest than how awesome Justice is. Don't get me wrong...Justice is awesome. But all the servers are awesome in their own way.
"But BABs...why change the title of the subject line?"
Cause I really want to prove the point. *waves to all the people looking for details about the expansion*
"But BABs...that's cheating!"
Yes.
