Another thing to keep in mind is that there are three special IOs you might consider putting in your travel power in addition to any for speed and endurance:
Zephyr: KB resist
Winter's Gift: Slow Resist (I loathe caltrops so quite a few of my characters have this)
Various sets: Stealth
Now the stealth is usually best in sprint. But if you only have the teleport or fly, you might not have any choice. Won't impact the OP as a speedster. -
Quote:The Random Glowies and random maps are a definite killer for me. I really enjoy that every other MMO on the planet has custom maps for every single quest because they are all in a specific location of the world with a unique look and feel. And custom clickies that fit on that specific map. I really hope we not only get new maps with GR, but also more of the glowies from the new missions, like where the computer terminal was in a line of terminals and not randomly in the middle of the hallway. On a larger scale, after running the office, the warehouse, the laboratory, the sewer, and the cave ad nauseum, I'm ready for a break for a month or two. Part of the reason I look forward to GR is to see new maps. Hopefully, that doesn't mean new skins on old maps.

I'm running a DP//Traps and the only downside I find is that both are very slow animating sets, so I feel frustrated at times. But Traps does work very will with pistols.

You'll do a lot better rolling bronze. The additional recipes in silver just reduce your % to get a good result and you spend more per roll.

I'm making up a new character. Will use Waraxe, I already know that, but I want a secondary that I can color to look like darkness, but that is not dark armor because I already have too many of those and don't want another one (though I do enjoy dark armor, I've just overdosed on it hehe).
Was thinking maybe energy because I have never done one. Invulnerability I don't think will work too well. I tried in the costume designer and just didn't like what I was coming up with. Shame because I've been wanting an invlun character.
Has anyone gotten Willpower to look dark? I'm not really visually creative enough I think may be the issue. -
Quote:I think it is supposed to allow you to fight Honoree specifically. Everyone can fight the Rikti themselves. and Honoree is the only extra-dimensional enemy in that last fight.Well since we've been fighting Rikti in the first three missions of this TF without said aura, and that only the leader gets the aura, and everyone on the team can affect the AV's in the last mission......doesn't that make that aura and hence the Hami mission itself rather pointless?
But I'm with Kheldarn on the actual in game effect. =) -
Quote:going off the top of my head, at level 50 I think minions are 6k in inf, and 14 to 18 prestige depending on -1 to +3.Now I've never paid attention to prestige earning rates for a game session so I have no idea how it compares to inf earning rates but I bet it's a lot less closer than 500:1.
But at low levels you get the full 14 to 18 prestige even though you might only be losing 10 inf. So the lower level you are the better an exchange rate you get.
Watch I'm talking lieutant rates or something stupid like that. I should never trust my memory... -
I'm fine with multiple types of currency as long as the resulted purchases are sufficiently varied. I think the Vanguard Merits are a perfect example. Some unique Vanguard-only IOs or other enhancements would be a very cool addition to a future Issue. Or even an expansion on the temp powers.
Where I have a problem with currencies is when it works like Tickets and Merits, which give access to essentially the same thing. Comparing Gold ticket rolls (5400) to Merits rolls (20) you get an approximate conversion rate of 270 tickets = 1 merit. If they are insisting on adding new currency, at least let the store perform the conversion if there is no other significant difference.
Same old choices? Then there is already a currency that works, so use it please. New custom choices? I'm ok with a new currency. -
I had one run away as a damaged herc and come back as a zeus. I assume he found a second spawn and merged but I really don't know.

Quote:So what exactly is the effect of the pylons on hami and on the mitos? Does anyone have actual numbers? When we got to hami I first said to take out rikti & pylons...but then someone /tell'ed me saying that it might be better to keep pylons up.
I remember reading in diff. spots on the forums that the pylons don't do anything so at first I was like, "meh"...but then I changed my mind and said, "Just do rikti but not pylons."
I guess the pylons do something (they should since that is how Hami is 'weakened' supposedly in the story line)....took out all of the mitos with no issues
We've always taken them out completely first, so I don't know what happens (or doesn't) to hami and the mito's stats if you leave them up. -
I think Frosticus already pointed out that those would be the fire/fire/mace dominator, Bane/Mace VEAT, and Perma PA Ill/Cold/Ice Controller.
from what I've seen, the damage numbers they put out are obscene. I think it was frost who took down a Rikti Pylon in 1 minute 54 with one? I'm sure someone will step in and correct me. -
Quote:my magic numbers are 1.2k and 4k. But I have the same method.here's my secret:
I bid 5k on commons and 9k on uncommons, collect any insta-buys then walk away and let the rest sit while I run missions or whatever. I've usually won all my bids by the time I get back. If not, I leave them overnight, which takes care of about 90% of what's left. -
Finally gave this a shot, been meaning to for a while. Elec/Elec brute.
+1/x8 Ran the Code Merlin Arc, finished after 57 minutes. I didn't separate drops from kills, just started with zero inf, and sold almost all at the end. Ended with 4,468,053, keeping two rare salvage, and 1 performance shifter triple. So add another 15k to my earnings for:
4,483,053.
Kind of sad since that's by far and away my highest earning character and it was a pretty good run for me since I didn't get hospital'd.
@Talen Lee: I'm right there with you buddy, I destroy Inf far more efficiently that I generate it myself. /em fistpound -
Quote:I have water turned off completely. Turning it on used to cause all kinds of funky errors on my graphics card. Like a weird green line going from my feet out to the top left corner of the screen at all times, but only visible in water. It also caused outright crashes etc.I totally missed this thread.
I have Reflections set to low, Water set to High, Shadows set to High, Ambient Occlusion OFF, and FSAA OFF.
I'll look at my other settings. Thanks! -
Quote:I really hope purchasing purples doesn't make it live. And fortunata hypnosis the same merit cost as Armegeddon or Hecatomb? That would be literally ridiculous. As in deserving of ridicule, shame, and mockery. I hope they're not that stupid. I really do.* One fascinating unanswered question is whether all purples will cost the same amount of xAMs. Interesting implications either way; how quickly will those effects push out to the market?
Quote:* Will there immediately or eventually be other things you can buy with xAMs? Presumably the value of "slice of a purple" will be high enough you'd not want to spend it on trivial things even if available, but with the new Incarnate stuff looming, we may have other stuff to worry about. (Are the devs making purples more available because there will be new rarer stuff to worry about? This certainly wouldn't be the first MMO to have "Green is the new Purple" situations; and there's precedent even in CoH (when was the last time you tried for a Crystal-O?)) -
I have two at 15, one at 24 and I'll soon have one at 35. I had others but I get bored from time to time and unfreeze them.
I enjoy those levels as much as any other, I like ensuring that I have someone at any given level bracket to join my buddies without being extremely over or underpowered, and I like supplying the market. -
Quote:I don't see why it's bad to reward a non-changer. Especially since anything bought can then be emailed freely. You can't spare two characters per account for this if it really matters to you?I see two ways of this working and one sounds fine and the other awful.
Bad: if you change, you can never earn the merits
Good: this gives non-changers a reason to run the morality arcs
Still, either way, it looks to be a bad choice to try to stay rogue/vigil.
Might as well have some reward somewhere for a character who remains true. -

Great screenshot! I love the guy in the foreground flailing as he falls backward.
This is a great thread. -
Quote:Technically, the devs can do anything it's just a matter of resources allocated and time required. Which is a BS answer that doesn't really say anything. Are you sure you were missing? As in, you saw a "Missed" notification or checked your combat log? Against some large objects I've noticed I sometimes can't actually hear the Assassin Strike land so it does sometimes sound like a miss.
Other than that, no, there should be no particular reason Assassin Strike isn't hitting. I'm not sure the devs can make a specific attack like that against a certain enemy miss all the time even if they wanted to without adding new code. All melee attacks? Sure. But not specific ones.
While I don't know of any code that is specific to powers, there was a bug with the Rikti Bombs from the raid events that if you AS'd them from hide they would vanish and respawn. Other auto crit from hide powers did not cause this glitch. Therefore, something in the game is capable of detecting AS, whether or not the Devs can make use of it is another thing. I'm guessing it was tied to the fear component for a target that survives.
So other than that weird glitch and the completely meaningless hypothetical scenario, I'm thinking you're right. Nothing codded against AS. -
Quote:You don't want to do it that way. Ragnarok will only enhance the damage of the throw vines portion of the power.- The purple Immobilize set in Carrion Creepers is a phenomenal waste. Creepers do a crapton of damage; I've got Ragnarok planned for 'em, with the Impeded Swiftness proc taking place of the Chance for Knockdown, since that's quite spectacularly useless in Creepers
There was a post int he guides section where whetherbygoode (not sure on spelling) did testing on Creepers. As it stands, not only do the procs only work on the portions which accept sets of that type, but also the enhancement % from any set IO only benefits that portion. So the throw vines is a single-targe ranged damage power, and will not benefit for the accuracy or damage from a Posi Blast set IO put into Creeper.
What he recommended based on his testing was to use acc/dam hami-os combined with the slow and immobilize procs and generic recharge IOs to maximize the benefit to the power. Since the hami-os will benefit all sub-powers and the slow has the highest chance to go off as it triggers on every action the pseudo-pet takes. -
I think, but am not good enough with the math, that per the changes to fury with i18 this will no longer be the case. Castle posted something in the big thread just yesterday about reducing fury during fights, but after a few seconds of no attacks fury degrades really fast. Obviously this is just what is being tested and it's not a final version so could change.

Quote:Here's a really big tip: sell low don't list your drops above the going rate. This is how the market works: Lowest sell price gets sold first to the highest bid.I mostly ran on teams to level up, so I didn't get many drops at all. I'd guess I had about 900k inf from actually selling stuff (often listing things at much more than the apparent going rate and waiting a while for them to sell), and the rest I got by farming WW for vendorable recipes to make a bit of a profit.
I'm told that I'd have more money if I'd been soloing that whole time.
So if you have an item for 100 inf and I list mine for 1, and someone comes along and bids 500 mine sells not yours. If I list another also for 1 and someone else comes along and bids 200, mine sells again. Yours might never sell if I keep listing at a lower price than you even if people are bidding higher than your price.
Always list at a price you are willing to accept, but somewhere between half and 80% of the going rate. As a cheat, don't list your white salvage higher than 100, don't list your yellow salvage higher than 500. I more than doubled my income when I started listing my salvage and recipes at very low prices. -
Making me curious which arcs don't have them. I know there're two in Port Oaks (Billie Heck and Angelo Vendetti), you go after Egon in Cap, Nerva has you go after nearly the whole freedom Phalanx piecemeal, Shark is loaded with them (supa-freak FTW!), I guess St Martial only has a few, but then Grandville is loaded again.
Where are you looking that you can't find them? What level range? -
It works on objects. I used it last night on crates and on Rikti Pylons.
