Dual Pistol baby!
Eh, I took an AR/Kin to 50; you get used to the redraw. That's what the masterminds and brutes are for anyways; to keep the enemies off of you.
I guess someone with shield abilities can attack for 4 minutes before having to refresh them, if you want to go that route, or you can go for theme with traps, etc.

I've noticed in grouping that there is a need of more Rad,thermal, and pain types to keep the heals flowing since I have been back. Sadly I took on Dark cause I thought those huge heals on long recharges would be good enough... I now wish I took on thermal for the heal anytime skill vs needing to Life tap someone and risk a resistance at a bad time.
anyway...i don't have an answer for your question... I am doing DP/Dark and its working just great for the most part. Twilight + tar for now at level 25. Still working on getting more secondary stuff later...my focus was DPS ...which is a double edged sword.. =p Drawing unwanted Freak Tanks my direction with Execution shots doh!
anyway.... You gota check out the Arachnos Crab and Demon Summoning to! OMG my return has been so fun......missed 4 eq2 raids because of my Alt addiction in COV.
Yeah.. I don't want to be a heal-bot. I pick Dual Pistol specifically I want to "blast". And no, I don't like blasters. T_T
I am leaning towards Cold Domination for now. I've tried /thermal and /pain and both require pretty heavy secondary usage.
In fact, I would have picked /ff if Corr has that. /ff requires the least of "clicking" after the shields are up.
/Dark seems decent too but there are just too many /dark. lol
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.
I wandered in here to ask the exact same question.
I'm thinking Traps or Rad. Not that I know anything about either one but that's half the fun.

I don't like being a heal bot either. I am just sick of joining groups that fail cause we need the heals. So I step up and provide it ...but I am doing a lot of DPS in between.
I normally Tar by the Brute...move in and heal him from initial pull then let the bullets fly.
Randomly healing in between my bullet spray.
Not saying you must get heals...but you will notice a severe lack of healing in groups on some days..and when you want to level up...and cant find one. it stinks.
Hence I took dark for the tar and twilight. This way I can bring snare and heals if we lack it...if we dont lack it I play snare and support heal...but mostly focus on shooting face!
Traps isn't a bad idea. Go with what is most fun. I was only giving suggestions from my latest experiences since returning a week ago.
You might want to give /storm a glance for the secondary. I have a storm/dp defender who works pretty well, and corrs would probably be more fun since they do more damage. Storm has the edge in that all of it's toggle or click, drop, and forget so you have more time to spend rockin' the pistols.
Also, Bang, Bang Baby! might have been a better thread title.

Traps. Go with traps. I say this from a traps/pistols defender standpoint. I soloed reliably and it gets to be absurdly safe as you fill out your traps arsenal. It's a proactive set; you unleash your traps then have fun blasting rather than constantly looking over the HP and status buffs of other teammates. The traps themselves are very good out of the box too, meaning that if you're strapped for slots, just put 3 on each and put recharges on them.
steps to trapping:
1. seekers right in the middle of the spawn
2. lay down pgt, mortar, in the middle of the spawn
3. HAIL OF PEW PEW HAHAHAHAHA Neo eat your heart out!
4. Rain of bullets / empty clips
5. Cackle maniacally
6. Shoot down any stragglers in the back while they attempt to run
You've also got FFG which is +def, mez protection, and no end cost to you (aside from the initial summoning). FF'ers get this too but they're nowhere near as offensive minded as traps are.
I'm running a DP//Traps and the only downside I find is that both are very slow animating sets, so I feel frustrated at times. But Traps does work very will with pistols.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
Just got back after quitting for 9 months. This is my 2nd time coming back.
Well, I am at work now and don't have much time to read through every thread.
What is the most suited secondary for DP? I am thinking I am gonna be busy with my primary set so I should choose a secondary that requires me less attention to reduce weapon draw?
