I think they're fine. Try zooming out some to see void.
Cryonic is a bit meh, but I love the visuals on Void. -
Quote:I think the code needs that for placate to allow the autocrit.Guess I'm thrown off by that big Hidden that appears under my buffs when I Placate.
But if you watch your defense numbers or placate someone in spawn a and run over to spawn b, you'll see you're not hidden as spawn b spots you and attacks. If you'd been hidden they wouldn't unless someone from spawn a hit you and broke hide. -

Actually, there are TWO issues with exemplaring, not only the set bonus but also the total enhancement %. If you run all level 50 IOs when you drop down to run something at level 24, your 99% damage is now only 69%. If you run a Posi, it's 39% damage.
By contrast, if you slot lower level enhancements, you can keep the full 99% at many more levels. The difference is not noticable at high level, but very pronounced at low level. Key breakpoints are slot level 50 quads, 43 triples and 24 duals and the enhancement % stays the same all the way down to level 21. Any lower than 21 and you have to slot level 15 or lower IOs and it's typically not worth the effort.
And for the record, both PvP and purple sets are still subject to this. while you will keep your set bonuses from them, you'll only have 39% damage running a Posi with hecatomb slotted. -
Quote:Well, Lusca will stay in it. =)pffffft, good luck getting any GM to stay IN the Tar Patch or even still be there by the time you've planted it
Scrapy runs like a chicken with its head cut off. Fricken annoying. The flyer and Caleb are pretty annoying too.
But Deathsurge, Kraken, Babbage, and what'shisfaceindarkastoria have never run out of a tar patch or burn patch in my experience. -
I'm wondering "why bother"? The server status page has never accurately shown them being down even when they actually are, except during scheduled maintenance. So why bother since the tool doesn't actually work.

There is one reason to take boxing early and that is if you exemplar back down low often. My dark/dark flies and I took Air Superiority early to fill the gaps in attacks at low level. But now we have multiple builds available so we can have a low-level build and a high-level one too =)
I also agree that the build you posted looks ok. Certainly better than what I use, lol. I never took Murky Cloud so my /dark is vulnerable to negative energy hehe.
I keep telling myself I'll fix that but never getting around to it. -
Some very cool new taskforces mid-level. Mortimer Kai for villains unlocked via a tip mission and I forget the name of the new hero taskforce, but you get a whole mess of AVs in the last mission, plus you finally get to give Fusionette the beatdown in revenge for all the times she agro'd crap on you in Faultline =)
Well, an evil version of her but still the core concept is there. -
I recommend starting with the Alpha Slot mission in Oroboros to unlock your first Incarnate slot. That way you'll get free extra drops from every enemy you defeat.
After that, everyone else has already given good advice. -
How does Inv do these days against praetorians? They have rather a lot of psi damage, so I've been curious.

Quote:Hit the Marketing forum for guides on earning boatloads of money fast and easy. A few simple notes:Awesome, thanks for the help guys! I've only been playing this account for 3 months. I had an old account for a few months a long time ago, before IOs. I'm hoping this time I will stay a bit longer lol. I just started looking into IO sets for my level 30 Claws/Regen Scrapper and man are they expensive. I have about 200 mil Inf saved up across all my characters, and making small amounts of money like that isn't to difficult. I will definitely be coming back here for more info once I get high enough with this character to start piecing together sets. My Claws/Regen scrapper was originally a Stalker, but got remade around level 20. Hopefully this one works out better. For now the info you guys have given me will help immensely. Thanks again, both of you.
Level 50 characters earn more than double anything else, even 49s.
Vendor all common recipe drops and enhancements. Sell salvage and most recipes at 1 inf. They will move fast for an average of more than vendor price. In the long run this is easy fast money.
The new Alignment Merits (Hero and Villain) you get from doing tip missions are like printing money. You can do 5 missions per day (20 hours) and after 10 you get a morality mission, finishing that gives you a merit. two alignment merits let you buy any recipe from what you know as the Task Force reward pool. The keys are Kinetic Combat triple, Luck of the Gambler 7.5% recharge, and Basilisk Quad all sell for 150m-200m. You'll very fast learn that some missions are easier than others, run them at -1/x1 difficulty setting to blow through them fast and just get your merits.
Log out your character in Oroboros whenever possible, when you log back in for a while you'll get bonus recipes at the mission complete roll. Sometimes even two per mission.
Mission Architect is a great way to make money at low levels. Instead of salvage and recipes you get tickets. You can use these on random rolls. Testing has shown that bronze rolls in the 30-34 and 35-39 ranges make the most money over time (especially 35-39).
for fastest levelling and best money, get into the Weekly Strike Force at least once per week, you get double merits and a massive experience bonus sometimes more than 1 level. And at level 48 it was a full half level of experience. You can convert the "reward merits" to "alignment merits" and use them for buying luck of the gambler recipes to sell on the market. Craft them before selling for even more profit. -
Quote:Lightning Rod is a pseudo pet and it crits from hide but it doesn't break hide. So you can still crit with thunderstrike. Makes Electric Melee on Stalkers very nice.I've recently returned to CoH after a long break and started a electric melee Stalker. One thing I have noticed that I don't remember happening before is being able to double crit targets with my Stalker. It usually seems to happen on a team. I also recall one time getting a double AS on a purple boss and one shotting him from full health. Can anyone explain how this is happening?
Also, there is a PvP bug where placating then AS sometimes gives dual crits, but that's obviously not what you're talking about. -
Well, the non-easy mode is to
1. Roll an Ill/Rad controller or Bots/Poison MM and level to 50
2. Earn 10 Billion+ inf to deck out your character with softcapped defenses plus purple damage procs, gobs of recharge, etc.
3. Kill anything you want no temps no inspirations
So shorter, but not as easy.
The shortened short version is:
1. Load up every temp power you can muster (mandatory: Envenomed dagger, Vanguard HVAS, & Shivan)
2. Load up as many large purples as you can and email a few more just to be safe
3. Kill anything you want (start with someone easy just to get the hang of it) -
Quote:Just chiming in to say, listen to this advice it is bang on the money. Also, your highest damage attack chain will be MG -> Smite -> SL -> Smite -> Repeat.I say just do not skip Smite, Siphon Life, and Midnight Grasp. They are your best "scrap it out" type powers, powers you want to fill the attack chain with.
You absolutely slaughter things if you have those well slotted. If you can only afford one expensive melee set, put the best damage proc you can into smite since you'll use it so often. The cheapest will be Mako (don't go for Touch of Death that pile of garbage only has a 15% chance to go off whereas every other damage proc in the game is 20% or higher) but that's not really "cheap".
I also recommend skipping touch of death and I only took shadow maul because I wanted the bonuses from some PBAoE sets. It comes in handy when exemplared back down low.
I recommend getting tough and weave, as well as combat jumping (which you want for acrobatics anyhow). A little defense goes a long way on a resist-based set like this. If you can afford to buy the IOs getting some Smashing and Lethal defense is helpful too.
If you have endurance trouble the aoe stun is better than the fear. If you don't, then I like the fear better because it protects you from lieutenants with the -tohit, and the stun does nothing at all except to minions. But it really needs end reduction and if you have tough, weave, plus 3 dark armor toggles, etc you might not be able to afford it. In that case the stun is better by far.
I also recommend Haste. Because you have a few really good attacks you want up as much as possible, plus the dark armor heal, you will definitely appreciate having haste.
On the heal, if you can get 2 villain (or hero, booo) merits and pick up the chance for +end proc from the theft of essence healing set. That sucker uses over 25 end each time you click it, but the proc can give you 10 back per enemy when it triggers so I found it is really worth running 2 weeks of villain tips. (if you are ok with using the market, get a luck of the gambler 7.5% recharge instead, sell it, buy the theft of essence proc and keep the extra money).
Things to avoid:
Presence pool
heal pool
stealth pool (only good if you need more places to put expensive IOs or for PvP)
On the Patrons, I also went for Soul, just for concept. But the hero pools offer some very solid options. If you have low money and need endurance go body mastery for superior conditioning and physical perfection. If you want more damage, blaze master has fireball, which is a great AoE. and, if you go leviathan, the waterspout is very nice and I like hibernate as a 1-slot power choice that lets me recover endurance super fast without resting. -
Quote:Hmm, I wonder if there's a Dev we can PM with that suggestion. they are pretty valid points on the combo issues.Ways to improve the set is to rearrange the combos...
AS>NS>SS = Attack Vitals
Placate>BU>Assassin Strike = Empower
VS>AS>1K Cuts = Sweep
Weaken can just stay the same as it really doesn't matter
These are combo's I could use, and would use often, and the Attack Vital's combo is part of DB's better damage chain anyways, upping Dual Blade's DPS by getting AV Combo's DoT effect on it. -
Quote:Silverado has solo'd virtually everything using a variety of characters. Including taking down GMs on a blaster before incarnate stuff became available. All GM's show as purple, and IIRC are at least +5 to your current level. Not many people (if any at all) can take a GM down solo...
Emote - Stands back and waits for the flames...
At this point, if he posted a video of him soloing a Rikti Dropship on a petless MM I'd probably believe it was legitimate.
also, they're not +5 to your level it's a bit wonky. Here's the link to the specifics:
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Giant_Mo...Vs._Your_Level
Also, testing has shown that the level shift from Alpha Slot doesn't apply vs GMs. The bonuses still do, but the formula that calculates "relative level" doesn't give you a +1 if you're alpha slotted for level shift.
the short strategy to easymode killing of a GM:
Stock up on many large purples and a few oranges and greens (blues if you have end trouble)
Craft backup radio, craft envenomed dagger, craft power analyzer Mk III, get shivans, get Vanguard HVAS. Warburg Nukes Optional. Wedding Ring recommended but optional. Any temp power shields (from Siren's Call, temp powers etc) also optional but recommended. Recovery Serum optional but recommended if you can't run your best attack chain for 5 minutes without running out of endurance. Temp power Med Kit optional but recommended to give more slots for purples.
Go to Perez Park and find Kraken (note he's not always up, but quite often). Summon all your pets. take insps and turn on temp powers to get your defenses to 45%. Unload. Use the analyzer and time the envenomed daggers to keep that -regen debuff on him pretty constantly. If you have any -regen powers of your own, use those often. -
-
I also have one and I love her. Spectacular damage and survivability. Like Largo, the damage is so high that I rarely use AS. both midnight grasp and siphon life can kill minions with a crit, and with buildup either one plus smite downs most lieut's. AS I reserve for dangerous threats or when I want the fear effect to go off.
Mine's probably the worst built stalker you've ever seen (missing critical power choices, has 5 slots in hide including the Serendipity End Reduction IO with no other pieces from that set, etc) and she still rocks.
Quote:Not true. I'm prepping to slot reactive armor in all my armors and kinetic combats plus two makos (quad and proc) in all my main attacks. With steadfast protection IO, and maneuvers, combat jumping and weave I'll be less than a small purple away from softcapped to S/L with near immunity to NE damage and high resists to most others. Its a fun character that plays like a regen scrapper with a great toggle stun aura that mitigates a lot of damage. I doubt it could ever be built with enough defense to matter, that wouldn't gimp the build in some unforseen way.
I know from experience on many other characters that 15% S/L defense is a noticable shift, you can definitely tell you're more durable at that point. 25% you can handle mid-sized spawns of most enemy types solo. 30%+ is an enormous shift in survivability for res-based sets. Added ontop of dark/dark's -to hit powers and things are very happy.
Now, actually going for a soft-capped built is probably not a good use of slots. The great thing for /Dark is that S/L defense is easy to get and /Dark handles all other damage types better than S/L damage, so the combination works better than for say /elec.
Again, since the heal in /dark is so good, you don't need as much defense as a /SR or /WP does to survive the same challenge. -
Now, I know for Scrappers and Brutes the highest damage DB attach chain doesn't use combos at all. Is that true for stalkers as well?
-
Does the -res version of reactive wake people up? Because I can see having the version that only does -res and no DOT over most of the other options.

Quote:You CAN make it drop at 50 though: Run an AE mission and roll mid or low level salvage.Salvage prices are not going up across the board -- they're only going up for stuff that doesn't drop at level 50.
You can buy as many Demonic Threat Reports or Temporal Analyzers as your heart desires for as little as you want to pay. ^_^
Run a mid-level Ouro story arc like my personal favorite, The Freakshow Wars. Then sell the salvage on the market. -
Quote:There's actually a ye and a no to this. While yes they have been around a long time, potentially "forever", they were almost unknown since the end of the Golden Age of Greece until States and Recluse. Those two activating the well changed things for the world opening the current age of heros. While some were around before that happened (and a few like Stheno have been around since Greece straight through to today) their power was lower or more subtle and they weren't in the public eye. Then a thought crossed my mind... I'm not seeing the whole picture here. Metahumans have existed since the beginning of time, right? There had to be some in the 19th century, and I bet they'd fight. They're referenced in the timeline as being in most of the other wars, so why not? The main reason I want to explore this idea is the thought that crossed my mind at the beginning of all this: "You didn't actually believe that crater at Petersburg was caused by mine, did you?"
I need to track down where I read that.
Quote:Now, the problem: It's been about 150 years... so how do I explain away the fact that I still exist? The easy way would be immortality, but I wanted to make it mesh a little more. I was thinking some sort of time travel, and that brought me to the one source I know of, ouroboros. I don't know much about ouroboros, but it's my understanding that they've found a way to "travel through time," am I correct. Now I don't know if this goes against anything or not, but why couldn't they bring back the Heroes of time? I thought about the obvious (Me missing during X period would alter Y future) but it's all theory, right? What if the timelines split. If I keep thinking about this my head is going to explode.
Of course, your character may simply not know HOW they traveled through time and may very well have no ability to do it again.
Quote:So, if Time Travel could work I have another question: Does Praetoria have an ouroboros counterpart as well? If so I was going to try and make this character start there. Maybe the Emperor sent out a quantum call for history's greatest heroes or something. I'll think of something more concrete later, this is all still very tentative. I do hope it all pans out in the end though. I've always wanted a solid concept character, and if I can cram the Civil War in with it... WIN.
Quote:Side Note: Trying to get away from my newbie roots as a scrapper, I was going to make this new character a blaster/corruptor. I was told Fire/Ice Blaster was a good way to go. Any other solid choices for those of use new to squishies? My scrapper made me feel like I flicked the Godmode switch to "On." -
-
the ones I like:
Nullifyer gun (de-toggle powers)
Goldbricker Jet Pack (as stated above the raptor pack is way overused this one rocks)
Coral Powers from the Sharkhead StrikeForce
Midnight Club Disguise (I forget the name, but it is 100% stealth for 15 minutes, plus a costume, total win)
Arachnos power shield (actually pretty handy power)
Psionic Activator (AoE stun) -
And jump on the board for Union to see who are active and what days they have activities etc.
