Really? Or maybe more people prefer to play a hero instead of an Arachnos toady.. er, villain.

I don't pick which side to play based on rewards, but on character concepts and fun. But maybe I'm in the minority.

Being "naughty" is sometimes fun, but I don't care for evil; and northern Mercy is awful. I like the Fort Darwin area, though. Too bad I can't start there (although it doesn't take long to get to level 5, but snakes.. again?).

Back on topic... pulling and lots of inspirations are how my two blasters got by this mission, and setting difficulty to -1.
  2. If the duration lasted about twice as long I wouldn't mind the activation time, same goes for Voltaic Sentinel (SP?) from /Electric Manip. Seems like I was summoning them over and over such that I rarely summon them at all now. They're just not worth the time for most fights.
  3. I'd want a couple nymphettes (i.e., young females wearing togas) skipping ahead of me tossing money such that I'd be walking upon a carpet of money (like the throwrosepetals emote).

But what would INF money look like? Who's picture would be on the bills? Statesman? Lord Recluse in the Rogue Isles? Ms. Liberty/Ghost Widow silver dollars?

Don't you know? We're in an alien "snowglobe" (that never had any "snow") for their amusement after they teleported Paragon City and environs to their planet. It's why we can't fly any higher than we can.

And those alternate worlds? They're really just other snowglobes attached via "portal" tubing.

They attached the Praetoria snowglobe recently to liven things up with a "war".
  5. You people want rain and other adverse weather but what about the poor people working as your contacts. They'd be standing out in that weather all day and night. Unless, the devs allowed them to move* and they'd go seek shelter either at home or in some local store such as a restaurant or drinking establishment, which of course, us supers are not allowed to enter due to liability insurance issues. Then you people will scream about not being able to reach your contact at all since they would turn off their cell phones as well and call it a day (or night). Poor Indigo, standing on top of that windy hill in the cold; she'd get frostbite and nipply... hmmm.

*kinda wish they did at at least wander a little instead of standing like wooden Indian statues.

Wrong. Get your head out of those D&D books and actually look around.

Glorantha, Runequest's game world, has a lot of game lore. I got a shelf of books about Glorantha larger than any of D&D's game world books that has ever been published. Granted, some of it is in a few magazine series, other information is in note form from the game world's creator (Greg Stafford), but it is there.

I'm not even a fan of Glorantha, but I do appreciate it's depth and breadth of information.

Can I put my order in for the Cherry 2000 now?

    This, and...

I love my female characters. A few more polygons to refine the curves a bit more and I won't need to subscribe to all those po... uh, never mind. But, I have always preferred reading about the heroines more than the heroes. Now I can have tailored-made heroines do my bidding, er, be super with their own stories of my creation (within the confines of the game at least).

I do play fantasy MMOs on occasion (more off than on, though). I've been a long time table-top gamer, and computer multiplayer gamer for a long time (its been there longer than you might think).

But I find that this so-called CoX community is quite cliquish. I switched servers to Virtue to find more RP in playing the game, and except for bio's being more likely written, the RP community is very cliquish and either all-RP-all-the-time or none at all. I've gone back to my original server (Champion) more often and not bother with teaming at all. I've played for hours, even on Freedom, without a team invite or even a tell. And if a PUG barely says anything I leave after a mission. I've tried to banter and blather , too often to no avail.

I want chatter and banter, people!

Oh, and global channels... drama llamas, trolls, the overly-sensitive "can't say ANYTHING bad no matter how truthful" carebears, and overzealous channel mods has had me quit those, too.

At least my characters talk back to me.
  10. The Gamestop "IO"s: every new character gets 5: Damage/Recharge/minor Smash damage proc 12% of the time, Damage/Recharge/minor Lethal damage proc 12%, Damage/Recharge/minor Energy damage proc 10%, Damage/Recharge/minor Psionic damage proc 10%, Damage/Recharge/Knockdown proc 10%. The Damage and Recharge each are at 16.7%, the procs end when you reach SECURITY level 21 (they kept happening at level 21 until I trained to level 21). I keep these enhancements until I'm ready to replace with an IO set somewhere in the mid 20s.

When I first read the details of the two options, and it was within days of them posted on the forums, I knew I wanted the Complete edition so I waited (I don't care for DP or DS anyway). The Gamestop option came later but that's where I was going to get the game anyway.
  11. I could go with some free new travel animations and some more complex ones being sold in a booster (e.g., alternate "vehicle/contraption" ones).
  12. The pilot (first two episodes, really) told me all I needed to know. I watched the next two episodes before coming to that conclusion. I haven't watched it since.

  14. wow.. for people who cry "we want options" you all sure rag on people that propose such.

My only issue for inherent Fitness is Swift. There are times when the slow "trot" is a good effect. If I wanted to go faster I'd turn on Sprint or the travel power. But my main thing against the active Swift Power is for my melee characters trying to line up the mobs for what few limited AOE attacks it may have, one tap of a sideways movement key works fine without Swift but many times with it the character moves too far. I'm not going to spend a lot of time lining things up, but if I can do it with 1 or 2 key taps I will. Swift ruins that for me.

So yeah, for Swift I'd like that enhancement for some of my characters, but for the other Fitness powers I wouldn't use their negative enhancements. (Hurdle is so much fun!)

It's a decent suggestion. I'd go for it. Maybe the Devs have an alternative solution planned already?
  15. I doubt we'll find a more fitting voice for Westin Phipps. That was awesome!

    *stands up and claps*

    Bravo, man, bravo.

Wait... NUDE Hamidon wrestling? I thought "he" was always nude?
  16. I get many good comments from this one:

Cinnammon (note the 2 m's, which is the incorrect spelling)

    Quote:
I love cinnamon. So when the Federal Bureau of Superpowered Affairs agent asked me for a preferred superhero name I immediately quipped, "Cinnamon."

"That belongs to a villain," was the curt reply.

Saddened, I considered other names. As the unappealing names flew through my mind it wandered to the recent memory of the scientific experiments that gave me these new super abilities. Those Crey experiments were harsh.

Tap, tap, went the agent's pencil on his clipboard.

"Sorry, I said, "I was thinking."

    "Think harder."

    Do they ever smile?

"I'm trying!" I replied. But, I started to fantasize about my future as a superhero. The fame, the glory, the money, and .. did I mention fame?

"Ahem," interrupted the agent. "May I suggest spelling cinnamon with two Ms?"

    "I'll take it!"
  17. Got a tell tonight asking to join his SG on Virtue, and I recognized who it was. Guess he's back playing the game. Stryke out for him.

It is not that hard to type a simple goodbye!
Unless the team actually talked with more than "hi" and an occasional mission warning (i.e., "inc") or order (i.e., "herding here" *), etc, then I feel like I don't owe them a good-bye. Silence on teams seems to be the norm these days. I've tried to banter, make jokes - lame or otherwise, at least I'm trying and hope someone starts to chatter as well. Silent teams are just no fun at all.

    * btw, I hate the herding tactic when used constantly, which is one reason I'll quit a team, after the mission is over. And controllers, WAIT until the mobs are around the "herding" character before you lock them down.

Sadly my luck from the old table-top days has followed me into the online gaming arena.
My table-top dice luck cloned itself into the computer game world. I still have bad luck rolling dice.

And, 95% to hit means 20% chance to miss in CoX.

Or, I felt like a ninth wheel and lost interest. Either my screen update/button-pushing lag or game lag sees enemies die by others before my attack hits them. My blaster nukes aren't needed when there's a shield-charging scrapper on the team. And, it's really boring watching everyone steamroll the enemies. I hate leeching and if feel like I'm not contributing then I'll hang out for end of mission and then quit the team. It's why I solo mostly nowadays except for TFs.

More simple, heroic costume parts. Wide variety and overly-detailed pieces are cool and all, but maybe we should revisit our roots and create more simplistic designs so we can have a wider variety of options for the tights wearing crusaders of justice. This is, after all, a game about superheroes.
I agree with all 3. Although with the second point, some citizens are congregated in their walking paths in some zones (i.e., Independence Port) and other areas hardly see any. More vehicles and pedestrians may increase lag, though.

I'm all for more patterns. One that really comes to mind that could use several options is the magic pattern. I don't like the current one. Where's the stars and moon pattern?

I've seen these. They really don't roleplay all that much on teams. I have never put that in my characters' description; if you can't see that I'm roleplaying then either I'm doing a bad job of it or you really don't understand what roleplaying is about. Roleplaying isn't just standing around chatting in local.
