    Eureka no more

*sigh* They'll probably add more wrestling, or maybe cage fighting (seems to be the newish trend).

Space shuttle program ends with no decent replacement. Eureka cancelled.

Guess I'll have to get my SF fix playing SF RPGs, but the problem is no one around here runs such games as it's fantasy, fantasy, fantasy. I like elves, and dwarves, and dungeon crawls, but gimme some good ole spaceship TRAVELLERing with blasters drawn at noon on Dodge Asteroid City, too.

(I hate game mastering games so that is not an option)
  2. Don't know what game you're playing, but the Rest power shows up in my tray when I train up to level 2.

Ninja Run and Beast Run come from booster packs, that could explain why they do not show up. Walk does not show up either and it's a new game "power" available to everyone at level 2.
  3. I have not INVESTED any time in the game.

    I've PLAYED many hours, though.

    * There's a fun little card game called SPANC; it may be out of print.

    CoH Noob...

    Welcome to the game.

Another problem with the SG list is there's no way to know how active it is or who to get in contact with based on that list. What I've done with my SGs is to put my global in the beginning of the description, like so: [owner:@<myglobalname>] and then the real description. Not that it is likely I'll get anyone interested in my SG, but at least they know who to talk to.

    Hey!

I get the feeling I'm never taken seriously any more.

Or never will be ever again.

Why do people keep saying this? The ParagonWiki is wrong.

Fly does not hit cap as soon as you take it.

I'm looking at my level 15 character right now (well, when I alt-tab). Swift has a level 15 Fly IO, Fly has two level 15 Fly IOs. The Movement portion of the Combat Attributes says the Flying Speed is 43.60 mph.

My own view is that cutscene bombing is perfectly acceptable as long as the trial isn't failed. I've never considered doing it myself because I've never died in the underground bit of the LAM.

Naw, they're a bunch of "I want my rewards NAO!" crowd and hate anyone taking one nano-second of doing fun stuff instead of damaging the enemy or buffing their team to end the mission sooner.

I saw one trial leader do the dance and the next time he kicked me for doing the same. Hypocrites, every one of you.

(not YOU you, Eco, just all the other posters whining about it)
  10. I'd rather go down the list and pick my "vet" rewards one time for my account. I don't want the boxing shorts or the Omega symbol; and there might another one or two veteran rewards I never use now that I just don't recall offhand.

No need for her in Virtue's Pocket D; seems to be plenty of player-character fems *ahem* strolling around.
  12. It's pretty and all, but what I really like about that travel aura is that it changes its size based on your character's profile (i.e., different fly poses)while flying, and I wish I could get other travel auras to follow behind and do the same, especially Electricity.

Electricity aura appears at your feet, or a few (ahem) feet below you, where your feet were, when you change to a flying pose. I don't like that.

Yes, I forgot to mention that. Hector being a very good op, seemed to cave in to Michael too easily during that so-called interrogation. And his futile knife-attack attempt to get away from the two of them when caught may have been contrived as well. I think THAT was the first hint of something fishy is going on. But maybe I'm used to seeing Michael in action as he is just that good (being the hero and all ).

Another thing, though: I thought the revealing the second interrogation camera trick was a setup between the CIA and Michael and I was surprised it wasn't. Now that I think about it; Hector just might have given them the wrong man as the misdirection so the CIA might not be involved with that at all.

I'm not so sure. I think it was a way for him to still be in Miami to appear regularly.

I'm a bit interested in this idea that the whole thing was a setup. Really, you raise some good points, but Burn Notice is also a "try not to think too hard about this" sort of show, so that may just be it crumbling under scrutiny.
It was the ONE day thing interrogation that made me suspicious. It could have been a week and I would have accepted it on face value; it wouldn't really have taken up more screentime as a quick scene indicating time passing (i.e., Sam and Michael fishing, Sam asking "So Mikey, whatcha been up to all week?") would have seem more plausible. But, Michael gets the phone call and even he seems incredulous that's only been a day.

As far as I recall, John Mahoney's character still hasn't been dealt with, and I can't imagine they'd just drop him off screen between seasons, so I suspect that whatever they develop, he'll be playing into it.
    I thought he got killed.

Of course, I also wouldn't mind if they just go "okay, meta-plot over, we're gonna stick to the single episode stories from now on", as I tend to enjoy the drug-runner-of-the-week setup to the more extended stories anyway.
I like the Meta-plot, if it wasn't focused on so much. I can see it for one season or some half-seasons; I didn't want to see the Miami Vice thing of drug-lord-a-week constantly. Perhaps they'll go episodic more for now until something comes up that indicates to Micheal that the last operation was a misdirection.
  16. Warning: I will not recap the episode, but will talk about certain scenes.

Yay! Michael Westen and company are back!

Fiona looking good in slinky dress.. yum.

    Sam looking fitter.

Jesse gets a cameo (I guess so the actor gets a paycheck?)

    Mother, is being mother.

    Now the spoilers, and suspicions...

They grab the guy that knows the head guy. Michael is sent away. CIA calls Michael back a day later. Wait.. ONE day is all the time the CIA tries to get information? ONE DAY? Something smells...

Michael walks into the interrogation room, takes him all of FIVE minutes to get the guy talking. He's good, but.. something really smells...

Cut to Caracas and the CIA operation starts out, then radio interference. At first I buy Fiona's explanation.. at first.

This head guy, with this impenetrable and dangerous-to-attack compound, has 3 bodyguards for the entire place? THREE?

And how convenient that .. I won't say more.

So, who's going to be the first to find out this was all a CIA set up?
    Sam, from an old buddy?
Jesse, through a contact or source of his former job?
But not Fiona, she'd bury any such info deep inside, but I doubt she has any such contacts. I'm surprised the CIA even let her come to Caracas, with her background. Is she even an American citizen?

But at least Burn Notice is back!
  17. Ah, and that also explains why the different henchmen tier groups are not always in the same order among the MM types. It is most annoying.

I'd like to see them arranged, for all MMs, as so:
    tier 3 henchman
    tier 2 henchmen
    tier 1 henchmen
all other /trap pets, which can be in alphabetical order.
  18. I don't have an issue with the /traps pets being in the window. I do have an issue with them being in a different order, and sometimes mixed in with the henchment pets' groups, depending on which MM I'm playing, though.
Put all the /traps at the end, please.
  19. Change the Accuracy/To Hit random number generator to one that does not hate me.
  20. *post about all the time wasted reading this thread when could have <insert favorite activity here> instead
  21. What's the intent?

    Roleplay a game out?

Have actual play, which means PVP?
Can you get people to go along with that and any restrictions you might implore? Keeping all contestants to a maximum low level might do for that purpose. But it wouldn't be "football".

Soccer might be a better game to simulate as there's less complicated team makeups and tactics. American Football might be king in the United States, but now we do have the Europeans visiting. And, since it's a pretendy fun game, we can make up a (keep it very few) few new rules to spice up soccer for us crazy Americans.

Does the announcer have to make some silly remarks like "He.. may.. go.. all.. the.. way!" or "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLL!"

Will there be hotdogs in the stands? Will there be stands?

    MUST the cheerleaders be catgirls?

Is there space UNDER the stands?

... if there were arcs that were well-written, with an engaging story, well-designed enemies, a good and varied use of maps, etc., but that occasionally might be lighter on XP (the way FedEx missions can be sometimes), would you still play them?

For example... a 5-mission arc. Mission 1: solid middle-of-the-road mish for difficulty (mid-sized map, not a DA). Mission 2: a small map, empty save for a boss and his minions beat the snot out of him for (imagine sneaking into the hideout of Jimmy the Fish). Mission 3: large map, a couple glowies, an ambush or two, still not a DA (Jimmy's been messing with something impressive... time to take it away). Mission 4: mid-sized map, rescue some poor schmuck, ambush and a boss (Joey the Squirrel, responsible for abducting the schmuck in the first place). Mission 5: whole hog, mid-sized map DA to impress upon said faction that the good guys will win and they'll remember that fact each time it rains.

A couple of these missions would be a bit light on XP. But if the arc were really well done, the maps not overused, and some good original designs with well balanced powers, would you still play it?

    I would.

    Sounds interesting, but...

My main problem with AE: it is not real within the game (other problem points have already been mentioned). It does not take place in the city or the isles, you do not go where the bad guys are hanging or hiding out while planning their next nefarious scheme, or where the loot is for villains to plunder, but instead your character puts in another quarter and plays the video game, again.

In short, it's not immersive enough. I like travelling the city or the isles, it gives me the feeling that my character is actually part of something. Thinking of it as a new teleportation device does not quite do it, either, although it being an inter-city teleportation device mght work, i.e., it sends you to a location in London (ponders writing such an arc).

I hope not. That contact will be one of the first places every new character of mine will be seeking, or at least within the first few levels.

Possible places for such a contact could be King's Row's police HQ plaza, near Dr. Creed in Mercy, and.. I don't care about Praetoria , but I think we already know where that gull is sitting .
  24. I like the missile smoke from the Titans. It is annoying, but it's what burning things do: make smoke. Move away from it and you can see fine.

There is a graphical option to turn down the particle effects. Does it not affect all these auras?
