Have actual play, which means PVP?
Can you get people to go along with that and any restrictions you might implore? Keeping all contestants to a maximum low level might do for that purpose. But it wouldn't be "football".
Soccer might be a better game to simulate as there's less complicated team makeups and tactics. American Football might be king in the United States, but now we do have the Europeans visiting. And, since it's a pretendy fun game, we can make up a (keep it very few) few new rules to spice up soccer for us crazy Americans.
Does the announcer have to make some silly remarks like "He.. may.. go.. all.. the.. way!" or "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLL!" 
Will there be hotdogs in the stands? Will there be stands?
MUST the cheerleaders be catgirls?
Is there space UNDER the stands? 
Is ultraviolence a sport?

The biggest problem is that since the end of base raids you'd have to be in an open PVP zone and there's no way to stop it from being griefed to hell.

Alright, so while on Virtue RP 2011 a discussion began about football teams in Paragon and evolved from there. A varied interest in starting a Virtue Meta Football league then evolved from that. I don't remember all the specifics, but I'll post what I can remember. Anyone else involved please post what I forget.
All members would have their powers supressed to a certain level (Exemp down)
The teams would be co-ed
They would consist of powered inviduals
(I'm still not sure what our stance on mech suits would be)
The ball is made of impervium...
Anyway, this is here just to gauge interest.
One idea is to create an entire SG or group of SGs just for this.
The other idea was to take already existing School based SGs and ask them to form their own meta teams.
So what's the thought process on this?
