Let's see. $14.99/month = $14.99/30 days (about) = $.50/day = $.50/24 hours = $.02/hour
Yep they should credit all our accounts for what, about 8 cents?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
That is hilarious -

Realistically, any player who starts playing now, will actually probably never get the 60 month vet power ever, no matter what he or she does, given the average lifespan of most MMOs.
[/ QUOTE ]
LOLOLOLOLOL
COH isn't an 'average' MMO. I think the mission architect will bear that out. -

I find it awesome on Scrappers when you don't want the single target taunt and wants something actually useful at level 12...
[/ QUOTE ]
And I also think by now...everyone on the boards know EXACTLY what I think of taunt-less scrappers. Also, the players I have recruited to the game always take their taunts too.
-
When the darth noobians and sith lamians trash talk...it just makes me want to whip em even more.
And I do whip em...exactly because of that.
And after they get whipped enough...they log off.
And that makes me smile.
What really makes my day is when a trash talker logs off dead in the street, "and goes and gets their widow". -

Either you're straight pvp or you should be straight pve, no middle.

I think players should be whatever they want to be.
I build all my toons for pvp and they all also pve just fine. -

Before I13 ...COX had the best pvp system out there in MMO's. It's just the dev's don't see how much potential this game had/has and did not really listen to the pvp community like it should of and release I13. Thus destroying the small but loyal pvp community. I14 seems like they are "trying" to fix their mistakes.....i hope for this game's sake they succeed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Old pvp was a joke. It was great for stalkers and the veats, and everyone else hated having toggles dropped. The old darth noobians and cheez sithians liked it...since their precious star wars galaxies got destroyed. Also the old 40' range on impale was gay. Mez length was real gay. Unresistable assassin strike was gay. Blasters unresistable damage was gay. All defense sets were useless.
The new PvP is a nice improvement but it needs some work. I think raising controllers/doms holds from 4 secs to 5 secs would be good and increasing everyone else's mezzes to 3 secs would be good. Also putting a floor on how low a mez can be resisted would help, based on AT of course, meaning tankers would have the highest resistance to mezzes in the game.
The new changes to Khelds has been wonderful.
Khelds Teamed >> VEATS Teamed >> VEATS Solo >> Khelds Solo. -
Try EM/Regen...its not defense and you get lotsa healing.
I don't PvP on champion much, but if you come to freedom I'll be happy to kick your butt. -

[newb question] What all can you change with a respec, anyhow? [/newb question]
[/ QUOTE ]
Remember when you first created the character? Right after you chose your powersets? That's where you are when you respec. Your powersets are the same, but you get to "level up" to your current level one step at a time. You can choose your powers and enhancement slots anew.
Oh, but before you start choosing powers, they "unlock" and set aside the enhancements you have slotted. After you've chosen your powers and slots, you can reslot any of your enhancements you want. Any that you don't want, they will buy them back at their full normal price when you're done.
[/ QUOTE ]
And as an additional reminder...selling back Hamidon Enhancements do NOT pay anything.
I accidently sold back my 7 (orginal) HOs on my blaster one time during a respec (I-8 I think), it almost made me cry. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, if you use the one that is unclaimed (provided it is not one of your vet ones that you clicked on in the badge window and never used) you will get another with I14.
[/ QUOTE ]
Vet respecs cannot be used via /respec...you have to go to Jack Wolfe in Galaxy City to use a Vet respec. -
I-14 might have a freespec built in. Usually, they granted the freespec days after an issue goes live. Since dual builds are now in the game...they might give another freespec a few days after, so people can respec both builds.
Personally, I only have 3-4 toons with 2 builds, and none of them need both builds respecced. But I could see other players wanting to tweak both builds, so they might give out two over time for that.
But you only get one freespec at a time for any toon...not one freespec/build. So the only way to get two freespecs would be if they grant multiple freespecs over time.
I think it would be nice if they granted freespecs in between Issue releases more often. It would be nice to have a freespec on hand more often. My main toons only have vet respecs left. I still run the respec TF...for merits and vangaurd merits, and to get some freak fun in. -

Oh I know, what's up with that? My main Stalker has 1143 max stealth from hide, IO and stealth and people in RV jumps down at me and immediately attacks me as if they saw me from 100ft away or something, I'm thinking stealth also gets DR'd.
I used to pvp regularily in SC as well before my break last year, I enjoyed zone pvp from i5 to i11 and now I don't like pvp after i13 and nor do most people that I know.
Someone else in another thread said that debuffs will be king and defense will be gone out the window in i14... sounds fun, not.

HAHAHA every time I PvP in Siren's Call, I always see Macho Man pwning with his stalker. -

Well guys, i'm out, been playing this game for 4 years. Too much has changed it's not the "girl" I met back then. I did mainly PvP in Siren's, some know me as Butterfly Kiss (the PFF Watcher) and Envious (the elusive stalker) but after being killed over and over today while hidden (max stealth) I know this game has lost any enjoyment for me. With the nerf to defense there's no sane reason to stay. Hey I almost made it to Issue 14. Good Luck, Have Fun... and see you guys on the Flip-side.
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL...buh bye. Even when I get destroyed in PvP...I can tell if the player that destroyed me is actually any good or are hiding their lack of skills behind fotm builds. How do I know this? Because I know that on a mission or TF they underperform when it counts. And I've still never met a scrapper that was better than Test Model 2. He is still the best /regen scrapper I've ever seen. -
Ahem...Electric Manipulation hits through bubbles because bubbles have no SLEEP defense.

Something seriously needs to be done with the text filter in this game. You can't use the word God but Jesus is just fine.
/e rolls eyes
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe it's because Jesus (pronounced hay-zoos) is a common Hispanic name. It's like blocking the word John.
Not a whole lot of people name their kid "God". At least I wouldn't think so.
Usage of common words should be allowd in the Mission Architect. Being restricted to only common words that have never been the name of a comic book character is just silly.
Gambit, chamber, cable, leech, sentry, and dozens of other characters have names that are common words that do not automatically mean that specific character whenever they are used.
Could I use this line of dialog though?: "Go check the power cable in the sentry chamber."
It contains the names of 3 different Marvel characters in a completely different context.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes but I know of at least one family that named their son 'Adolf Hitler' and a daughter name 'Aryan Nation'. I wouldn't use those in the MA, and I certainly wouldn't name my kids those names...egads!!! -

Please post in the i13 PvP feedback section (under Developers Corner). Ranting here will change nothing.

[ QUOTE ]
I know I would like to be able to IO alot easier. It wouldnt make me bored with them either. It would mean I can play my toons the way I used to prior to inventions. Currently I have put at least 50+ alts on hold because of IOs. Because the way merits work I am stuck farming on a single toon per server just to IO out the rest of the Alts. If the system was changed then each alt could get their stuff faster and I could play them or they could earn their own IOs instead of having me to have to transfer them to the alt or leave them in the base storage.
[/ QUOTE ]
I totally agree.
In fact, I'm getting really bored trying to come up with enough merits to outfit my toons for pvp. Some of the things I want for my toons, e.g., like a kismet +ACC, Level 33 Crushing Impacts for Siren's Call, are taking me a lot longer than buying them would take, there are simply none for sale at the market (I don't play any villains on Freedom, and I never will...I'm commenting about heroside).
Positron as a TF stinks. It's boring, tedious, and annoying. I'll run it one time for badges and some merits. But I need to run it FOUR TIMES so I can almost afford a LoTG proc???? F that. I won't do it.
As a result, my characters are taking too long to get PvP-optimized. At the rate I'm going I won't have PvP-optimized toons for Siren's Call on my second builds until I receive my 60 month vet reward. And I do not want to 'break' my primary builds for Siren's Call: They have level 50 IOs and I want to keep it that way. I have two choices: play my toons as is and get ganked or avoid PvP entirely. The first option is frutstrating and the second option is boring: I do PvE FOR PvP, it's a means to an end.
My 50's have lotsa money, it doesn't matter, because I cannot buy anything in Siren's Call range with said money. I can always do RV, but that isn't always what I want to do for PvP. BTW, I cannot stand arena PvP.
The reward merit costs of all the IOs is too expensive, big time. I want to do some TFs and outfit my toons NOW. I don't want to do TFs until JUNE just to outfit ONE toon.
At this rate, I'll get my 60 month vet at the time my yearly subscription expires. I should also be playing Champions Online and the Star Trek game as well, if they are out and they are any good. If this frustrating situation doesn't have a solution by then, I could conceivably not renew for year 6, but I would like to see what the rewards are. I would like to keep playing. I would like to actually see how well my toons do in Siren's Call when they are built for Siren's Call.
If year 72 vet reward is 50% off of merit costs that would be a sweet reward. -
[ QUOTE ]
I get the feeling a lot more characters will be getting Teleport with the 60 month reward in place >_>

Actually yes, I'll be making some porters, I hate recall friend...and I don't do droning. -

I'm pointing out that the veteran is not paying $45 per reward: he's paying zero per reward. You already get his money whether or not he gets any reward. But the $10 you get from the fly-by-nighter is actually for the reward: you only get it if he gets the reward. And that's in addition to the cost for him to keep his account active long enough to purchase the shiny.
[/ QUOTE ]
The status of veteran cannot be purchased. It's not about money, it's about time spent. For example, you cannot purchase a 20 year stint in the Army at age 18. You must have participated.
People who stuck with this game for five years contributed something much better than mere cash, and that something more is what the vet rewards are about.
The vets gave of their expertise to newer players, demonstrated their advanced skills (and builds), helped test things, posted their longer-term perspectives on the forums, in short, they participated in the game for year after year and helped make it better for everyone, and did it for longer than most ever will. That long involvement is NOT convertible into currency.
I am continually amazed to find that there are people who think everything is for sale.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, I agree. Some people in the world are solely motivated by money...like accelerating $18 billion worth of bonuses because they KNOW they are about to get the hammer dropped on them for basically ripping off an entire country's investments and tax dollars, shredding the Constitution along the way for good measure. Always following objectivism and the individual and never thinking about the simple fact that Ayn Randian objectivism NEVER leads to E. Pluribus Unum.
Others, like me, are NOT motivated by money. Some things are NOT for sale, like my soul.
The 60 month vet reward is a very significant reward as a concept of playtime actually modifying in-game mechanics. -

Dear newer players,
Your advantage is that you have started playing when the game was in a more advanced state than it was in the beginning.
You didn't have to deal with the same buggy missions, early-level travel issues, the lack of radio/newspapers and the lack of a difficulty slider. You didn't have to wait for the level cap to be raised to 50. You didn't have to wait for capes/auras to be introduced, or or for any number of new costumes/pieces. You didn't have to wait for APPs, PPPs, HEATs, VEATs. You didn't have to wait for respecs, the markets, or IOs. In short, you didn't have to wait for a countless number of quantitative/qualitative changes which have improved the game over time.
Veterans did have to wait for many if not all of those things. Anyone who will be eligible for the 60-month badge any time soon will have waited for every single one. So sure, argue all you like that the fees vets have paid were "for five years of fun, and they would have paid anyway!" Just do keep in mind that the game is a much better product now -- and I don't believe it's a stretch to conclude that the participation of those very vets is a large reason for many of the game's improvements over the last five years.
That's your perk.
The 60-month badge is not as big a deal as some are making it out to be. Travel powers are optional, nowadays, more so than they ever were before -- and at least for some people, the usefulness of the pre-requisites is among the main reasons they take travel powers at all. Temp powers are marginally inferior mechanically, and certainly inferior conceptually, to normal pool travel powers, but they also don't cost power picks (and perhaps more importantly, pool picks).
Saving a power pick or having more flexibility in the early part of a build if they choose to take a travel power is the extremely long-time vets' perk. Take it from someone who's been around awhile; you've gotten the better part of this deal.
Sincerely,
Level Six Flyer.

This says it all.

And I would also add: the newer players never had to play when critters had to stop running to be able to actually use a melee attack against them. Yes that's right, in the beginning, you could NOT attack a critter with a melee attack unless they were standing still.
I like that universal vault idea too. -
I was fighting this stalker in RV, and I kicked him in the head...so he high tails it away -
OH WAIT! that was a PLAYER.
hmmm...
I have mobs run away all the time...but that's why I take taunt...I taunt em and they stop and turn around or even worse (for them) they come back and try to attack me. It's not fullproof, but it has saved me a lot of time getting my toon to 50.
I would say to the players that fought the jade spider, statesman, eocchai, etc and they all ran from ya...
It wasn't the AI, its your toons were too powerful for them...and programmatically they knew it...
Maybe you should have wimpier IO's in your toons or something - that way the critters won't be so intimidated and have such an inferiority complex -

I'm assuming that first pool is "flight," not the fighting pool.
To clarify, this means that the first [u]three[u] tiers of each travel pool will be available at level 6, correct?
Overall, very cool!

Yes...You can choose hover, flight, air superiority, jump kick, combat jumping, super jump, hasten, flurry, super speed, recall friend, teleport foe, or teleport at level 6. -

The one change that I use and enjoy more than anything else...
Inspiration combination.
Seriously, this QoL change is extremely underrated, but has proven to be invaluable again and again, no matter which character I'm playing. No more teams standing around sheepishly because nobody has an Awaken, and no more groaning because the last nine drops were yellows that you didn't need.
Wierd choice, but it's really the little things that make the most difference.

My favorite overall QoL change as well. -
I apologize for being so crass and insulting your defense idea, Arcanaville, you rock and have my respect. I was wrong, it's not the first time I've been wrong, and probably won't be the last.
