  4. ((This is a backstory written for the Solidarity Movement. Its records are nestled deep within its den. It outlines the original foundation of the movement's premise centuries ago. While the current leaders of Solidarity had no idea that this occurred, these events have been unfolding via the interaction we have all been having as a group thus far.

    We wanted to share the story with the Roleplay Community.))

    A small book had been found among the shelves of the library. It was left there by the Griffon Prince, Artaxes. Inside the letters were penned in exquisite calligraphy and the words were written in the style of a child's fairy tale. The book reads as follows...

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The Aegean War
    Once upon a time, long before the age of man, there was a large and powerful nation. It was called The Primarch Empire. It's enlightened reign spread out from a great city, nestled among the waves of the ocean. Within this empire, many creatures lived and thrived. Creatures of magic and of legend. On the gilded throne of the empire sat a wise and majestic figure. The Dragon Emperor, Zok Redflame. For millennia, the city stood as a beacon of harmony and of destiny.
    However, it was not to last.
    One fateful night, all the seers fell into a deep trance. All gathered about, knowing that a great prophecy was soon to be revealed. All night and into the morning they awaited the waking of the seers. As one they awoke. As one they spoke.
    "Shaken. Shattered. All we know. The lowly ones. They thrive and grow. Their power's equal you shall never find. Destiny lies with humankind."
    As the words of the seers echo through the great halls of the palace, all in audience fall silent. The great emperor dismissed them all, calling to him his wisest advisors.
    "The prophecy is ominous!" Some said. "A portent of impending doom!"
    "The prophecy is glorious!" Said the others. "A herald of an enlightened age!"
    "We must destroy the humans!" Cried some.
    "We must guide the humans!" Cried the others.
    Time passed and the discussion became an argument. The argument became a battle. The battle became a war.
    The dragon emperor, always suspicious of the young human race, agreed that mankind must be destroyed. Vowing to stop him, the royal houses opposed to the emperor's decision left the great ocean city. Emboldened by the leadership of a house of Griffons, they formed together a new empire, calling themselves The Aegeans.
    Thus, the great civil war began.
    The battles raged on and the Aegeans fought their former brethren. It was however, a lost cause. The Primarch armies were vast, as were their resources. In the face of defeat, a plan was devised by a brilliant Phoenix. Setting the stage, the Primarch armies were lured to what they believed their final victory. The battle began and the Aegeans seemed lost. To save humanity, the Phoenixes used their great power of death and rebirth. The armies fell, their spirits stripped away from their bodies. It was a stalemate. Even the great Emperor Zok himself could not escape the fate he had stepped into. The souls of the many magical creatures slipped into the ether. Their lifeless bodies pulsed with the magic of the Phoenix ritual, becoming nothing more than small gem-like totems. Not all were lost, but both of the great empires were no more. Without the magic of it's people, the shimmering city sank beneath the waves of the ocean, never to be seen again. The great halls of the Primarch palace would be home to the creatures of the deep.
    Humanity survived. Humanity thrived. Thousands of years have passed. Yet within the ether, the seers fell into trance once more. The fulfillment of the prophecy at hand. Bound to their totems, the magical spirits strive to return to the earthen realm. Their ancient goals remain, the prophecy driving them forward. Primarch and Aegean, two sides of a frozen war. A war that has begun to thaw. The voice of the great dragon emperor is heard, his rallying cry to resume the battle.
    Only one thing is certain.
    For better or for worse.
    Destiny lies with humankind.
    Yeah... we chose Blue side because it fit the concept a bit better than the chaotic nature that the Rogue Isles embody. We might have a few people who stay vigilante (if the system allows that), so there might be a few folks who putz around Red Side for some interaction. Though, the group is indeed going to be staying blue due to its focus.
    Though, if you're wanting to get involved in some roleplay even on redside, you're more than welcome to post an open roleplay thread on our boards, and our members will respond and interact as they can.
    But yes, you're more than welcome to post some RP on our boards, and we'll respond!
    Who We Are In-Character
    Solidarity is a movement that was founded with the purpose of bringing harmony between mankind and hybrids by recruiting those who will help dispell the common myths associated with those who aren't quite human, nor entirely animal. Housing more than werewolves, the movement hopes to establish a common ground between humanity and others who aren't entirely human anymore. There are many facets to the group. Some live in the city and prefer more human lives. Others live out in the wilderness, embracing their primal nature instead. Werebeasts, manimals, humans, even aliens. We accept all that wish to see a future where humans, hybrids, and everything else are free to be what they are. We desire a united earth.
    Who We are Out-of-Character
    ((Solidarity is a group of roleplayers on the Hero Side of the Virtue Server who are interested in enjoying the game with one another in a casual setting. We seek to offer an environment that promotes meaningful and high-quality roleplay: conducive toward the growth and development of our characters. We also hope to elevate players just as much as we do our characters; encouraging more than just a guild of players, we are a group of friends. Players that join can expect friendly faces, and people that they can look up to when it comes to communication in roleplay, as well as friendly interaction as players.))
    Our Standards
    OUR STANDARDS
    1. We are player focused. Some roleplay guilds focus entirely on the character and like to pretend the player behind the computer doesn't exist. We do not operate this way. We encourage our members to talk OOCly with each other and work together to create some amazing stories and plots. While it is not required, we highly recommend the use of our Teamspeak3 server to talk to your fellow players. The goal of this guild is not only to facilitate roleplay, but to also build friendships that may carry on to other games in the future.
    2. We respect real-life schedules. This is a game we play in our spare time for enjoyment. Nobody is obligated to spend any more time online than they want to spend. Members are free to join other groups with their alts or play completely different games. We don't presume to own anyone's time. However, any absences of a month or more should be accompanied by a post on our forums, letting us know you will be away.
    3. No OOC drama. It will not be tolerated in the game, on TeamSpeak, or in the forums. IC drama can be fun and makes for some great stories, but when it gets to be a problem between players, nobody is having fun anymore. There is a line to be drawn in this sense, and we expect people that walk in the door to be knowledgeable of others comfort levels when it comes to IC drama.. And that's the point, having a good time! If there is a problem, it needs to be dealt with immediately between the persons involved. We expect everyone to be responsible and mature, not getting bent out of shape over little things and absolutely no rumor mongering! The leadership of Solidarity is not afraid to boot overly dramatic players. We simply do not have the time or energy for those kinds of shenanigans.
    4. Be mature. As a general rule, we accept players 18 years of age or older. We may make age exceptions in some instances, but don't expect it. OOCly we are very casual, yet we want to keep relatively serious ICly. We have some lighthearted stories now and then, but we try to keep it all believable and in accordance with established lore. This does NOT mean that we condone overly sexual behavior! This is NOT an ERP guild! If you want to participate in this type of roleplay, it must be kept private! Be polite to other players, getting caught griefing is grounds for a big metal boot from the guild. Remember that as a member you represent Solidarity both ICly and OOCly.
  10. Group Name: Solidarity
    Server/Game: City of Heroes: Virute
    Theme: Hybrids and Hybrid Sympathizers, (Werewolves, Felinathropes, Dragons, and everything in between). Also includes Aliens, Robots, etc. This is not however limited to hybrids. Any human that wishes peace between all earth's living creatures should be able to fit in.
    Webpage: [url="http://cosolidarity.guildlaunch.com/"]
    Contacts: @Panaxiom - @FullMoonRising
    Usual Activities: Roleplay plots done in classic interaction, and Architect-based stories. Casual roleplay within SG Chat. Fun, otherwise, in the game building characters, stories, and advancing missions.
    Other Activities: We banter in TeamSpeak when we're not totally engrossed in RP. We are also player focussed in how we look at the game and Roleplay. This doesn't take from our characters or stories. It just puts importance on the people behind the keyboard as we roleplay.
  11. So. I came back to check out issue 15 with my kid brother, and the first thing that I wanted to do was go in and show him the missions that I had created.
    They were polished to a mirror shine beforehand, and I had run countless tests with others, ensuring that it was perfect (or as perfect as I can make it). The arc has gotten quite a bit of good feedback, so i'm assuming that things were well and good.
    In coming back, we loaded up the mission arc, and started to run it... there was nothing but problems with it.
    ~If you are lower level than the mobs present in the mission, the mobs won't spawn at all. This will sometimes leave the map empty and auto complete the mission.
    ~If you try to set the scaling so that anyone from 1-50 can run it, it will still make all the boss mobs and what not the level that they were preset to be. So if you select a level 46 boss, it won't scale down to 20, thus wiping the entire group pretty near instantly.
    ~It wiped out all my custom animations. I had to go back and fix every last one of them.
    ~You can't set "Stair stepped" collections without it bugging and saying that you are forming an endless circle, even though i'm not doing that.
    ~Allies often get "stuck" and don't do anything. They will stand there without attacking. This is particularly annoying if your mission is set up so that you can have the ally help you kill a difficult boss, even solo.
    I'm afraid to check out my other mission to see what is broken, though it's far more complex than the one we recently ran.
    This kind of stuff REALLY hampers the experience. A lot of arcs that were fine before this update? Now probably aren't.
  12. Thank you for your response!
    I'll be contacting you in game with questions.
  13. Hello everyone,
    I've mostly played on Villain side for the longest time, so I have no idea what the hero side is like, though i've decided that it's time for a change of pace. In that, i'm going to be rolling several of my toons over in Paragon and see what the community over on Hero side has to offer.
    Being someone that hates soloing, however, and being on my own, i'm looking for a SG that might offer some of the following. This is just to get an idea, though if something does catch my eye, I will hopefully get in touch with you in game.
    1.) Role-play: Alright, i'm what you would consider a "hardcore" role-player. That means that I will role-play as often as I can. However, i'm not the kind of person who takes it so seriously that if my character is slighted that i'm going to fly off the handle. To me, Role-play is fun, a quid-pro-quo (Probably butchered that spelling) of interaction between individuals and a sharing of fiction. I've been doing it forever and a day, and i'm hoping that I can get the new concept that i've got rolling around in my head involved with a few stories.
    If the SG has stories that are open and everyone can participate in? Great. If the stories are infrequent? Doesn't bother me, so long as the interaction (SG Chat, random interaction in the base) is frequent .
    2.) Helpful: I know that this is a pretty loaded word, but I love to share time with other people. I'm hoping that I can find a group that are willing to share feedback on Arcs that are made, and then ask for feedback on their story arcs. People that want to run missions that are more than farms, and participate in the content that the developers have put before us, and people that not only share in role-play interaction, but love to go and mission with their fellow SG members.
    3.) Drama free: I can't stand it. I've been playing these games for near a decade now, and while I know that it's impossible to escape it entirely, but i'm hoping to join a group that has a firm handle on it, both IC and OOC. That means that: stories that have some drama in them are alright, but drama for the sake of drama isn't alright in my book, and being i'm taking quite a full load of classes and doing contract work, I want to log in to relax!
    4.) Casual: Pretty self explanatory. I'm a fairly laid back guy, and I will choose power sets that fit my characters, even if they might not be the "Best". I want to hang around with a group of people that understand that and want to participate despite build, and will give chances to those that are still learning the rungs of the game on hero side, having only really played villains.
    Here are the characters that I'm going to be creating on hero side to give them a try
    1.) Andy Scott: A man with simple tastes and simple expectations in life who recently had a bad run-in with a legendary creature. His desire to help someone who seemed in trouble left him with a bite wound that would change his life forever.
    2.) Lance Kalil: An Ex-Crey employee that was in the wrong place at the wrong time ended up taking on a great and powerful burden that he still tries to live with to this day. While similar to Andy in a sense of "heritage", it is different in expression and context, and his drives to bring an end to Crey for what they did are never-ending. Deep down, though, he's a light-hearted guy that has a slightly foul mouth, and is a little brash in his attitude. If he thinks something needs to be said or done? He will say it or do it.
    3.) Rihdan "Moongazer": He and his brother once owned a shop in Kings Row not that long before the Council targetted them both in a rather sinister experiment. The details of said experiment, however, are confidential.
    4.) "Ebon Steel": Edward Steele, Once a worker for part of the weapons division of Crey, he developed a terminal cancerous illness due to testing one of their new biological compounds. Using his technological know-how, however, he built a suit that bombards him with the necessary radiation to keep his body from being eaten alive by the cancer. To mask the fact that he used stolen technology to build this suit, he uses the suit's AI, code-name "ED" to give the facade that he is nothing more than a robot.
    Thank you for your time in reading this post, and i'm looking forward to meeting you all in game .
  14. It's been pretty plainly spelled out. There isn't a need to avoid AE altogether. Just be intelligent about what you choose to participate in in regards to AE itself.
  15. It's not only that, but the "Front, Middle, and Back" options for those maps are all terribly wonky. Things need to be straightened out really bad in that sense. Nothing spawned near where it was supposed to, and I ended up having to use a hero warehouse instead.
  16. Did you publish a farm on one of those slots before the update on Tuesday? If so, there's a chance that it was applied with the slot permanence as stated by Positron in his letter.
    If this isn't the case, then it's probably something that you can petition about for customer service .
  17. Yeah, but I don't want certain clues to be gotten before you get one particular clue
    Can't do that unless you chain them.
  18. FullMoonRising
    Empty Map
    I tried to do this also with one of my arcs, and it just didn't work out. Much to my dismay. Seems impossible to have just a "Sneak around and gather evidence" arc.
  19. What would be really cool is an option like the arena where you can just enter a little non-power flier and cruise through the map to check spawnpoints, mob locations, boss locations, etc!
    Sometimes a story depends on things spawning in the right places.
  20. One thing that I really think the AE Generator is missing is the ability to scale collectable items. In other words, collect one, then another spawns, then another, then another... there are some pieces of information that I want to distribute in clues in a particular order, and there is no way to really guarantee that the player gets it in that order without this feature.
  21. Check your character descriptions on allies and what not. I'm currently working with a few already pre-provided models for allies, and their pre-made descriptions exceed the 300 character limit.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
    Even if it was all "farms" like you said. Who is to say your story is more important than theirs? They have just as much right to use their story slots as they want as you do.
    [/ QUOTE ]
    That's just putting words in my mouth. I never once said one was more important than another. It was just an observation.
    Yes, it's under some pretty intense strain. But a lot of that strain is undue. I mean, as listed above: I published "Full Moon Rising" at midnight on a weekday. Pretty low key time of day, right? The instant that I published it, it got buried under about 30-50 "KILL THE RIKTI" arcs.
    [/ QUOTE ]
    Thats really amazing seeing as I have never seen more than 3-4 pages of those at any time. Then again if you search on rikti you will get every arc that has a rikti enemy
    [/ QUOTE ]
    *Chuckles* It was just an example. I can't even begin to name all the stuff I saw, but most, by me clicking through them, were indeed farms.
    Again, without pointing fingers and saying farming's bad at -all-! But yes, I felt it was pretty unbelievable myself. Even sorting by -date-.
    Though I will freely admit to the possibility of me just being crazy due to the fact that it was midnight. *Laughs* I just remember being completely and totally amazed.
    I can understand the indexing being a problem.
    But, then again, the Devs are somewhat working on fixing that by tapering some of the farmable content (Hopefully).
    Yes, it's under some pretty intense strain. But a lot of that strain is undue. I mean, as listed above: I published "Full Moon Rising" at midnight on a weekday. Pretty low key time of day, right? The instant that I published it, it got buried under about 30-50 "KILL THE RIKTI" arcs.
    The problem isn't that people are making farms, IMO. It's that they're making the SAME farms over and over and over again. Free up that extra space, give it to us to play with. There are those of us who have yet to publish a single farm, and don't want to. We want to create unique stories for others to enjoy
    [/ QUOTE ]
    Please dont' even bring up farming...I really don't want another thread digressing off it's topic.
    [/ QUOTE ]
    My comments weren't about "to farm or not to farm."
    My comments were specifically targetted at the fact that: Whether or whether not it's going to happen, there are hundreds of thousands of the same map/mob group and such just repeating themselves over and over and over again, devouring space on the servers.
    If there were to be just one of every type of farm that could be used, instead of everyone repeatedly copying the same thing just to have easy access, space wouldn't be as much of a concern, IMO
    I believe that you also have to match on the "slim/average/athletic/heavy" selection (and possibly the sliders).
    [/ QUOTE ]
    Really? That's strange. All those do is preset the sliders I think.
    Weird!
