Farming Rules please
There's threads going on in regards to this issue.
In the developer's Corner section, there's "(Return of the Son of) Abusing the Architect". It's a sausagefest in there right now, but the gist of the discussion is:
"Do not take advantage of known or suspected exploits to either increase the XP or rewards gained, OR decrease the risk to players."
Farming in and of itself still seems to be OK, altho' it may not be desired by the devs or a certain *cough* segment of the playerbase.
As to the 'characters deleted or rolled back' question: They're targeting the people who really went nuts with the whole "meow farm" thing, where a known exploit was milked for all it was worth. See "don't target an exploit in your arcs" above. Again, 'farming' may be a dirty word (so it's not a good idea to use it in your arc titles or descriptions) but as long as you're not farming an EXPLOIT, you should be OK.
My recommendation would be to compare your MA arcs (played and written) with either random story arcs or Dev content (radio missions). If your playstyle doesn't change between the two, then the XP/hour shouldn't drastically go up without also added risk. Or put another way, if you tend to roll with a farming build, on invincible, with a bunch of people padding your mission, then it shouldn't make much difference to you to play an AE arc as opposed to a standard door mission. Same goes for soloers, superteams, pick-up groups, whatever.
If you're getting considerably more stuff, but not taking more extreme risks, then there may be an exploit involved and you should send a petition in to ASK if it's OK. Or a PM to one of the devs or CS staff here, if you don't want to narc on a specific person's mission.
Other than that, game on.
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
In all honesty, I'd simply recommend one avoid farming in the MA altogether; there are numerous other places and methods to do so, and you might as well not risk the trouble that might come of it.

Fixed.
Without some kind of actual clarification on limits, one never knows what they'll decide is an "exploit" next.
By the logic of "don't take advantage of known or suspected exploits", who is to say what qualifies as suspected?
Rather than risk bumping up against whatever metric they are using, just avoid the bloody thing all together.
Good job devs, 18 months of work and you guys screwed it up in a month.
Not to mention, getting teams for MA is next to impossible since everyone is afraid of the banhammer.
Oh and the ticket cap coming in soon.... why do MA at all?
I have to agree. I avoid the MA now for fear someone with my brute may level too quickly and trip some datamine. I will stay with dev sanctioned or dev created content. If you want hard rules, there are none. I recommend taking this discussion to the official farming thread in the City Life section of the boards.

So one can post in another thread that anyone with any real power/ability to inform us, can ignore and not post in?
If you play a mission and the rewards and xp are so great that you feel like you'd be a fool not to play it, then you might be a fool to play it.
or more famously: If it seems too good [to be true], it probably is.
yeah this will get locked soon and refered to the Official thread as one of my threads did, but...
I too am avoiding some of the AE teams for now, except for the ones I make them self because I don't know how to take advantage of any of the exploitable content in MA

Well, this one will soon be closed anyway. There is a reason that is the official one. It was created by the moderators in what they felt was the official section, to stop the multitudes of posts just like this one from springing up all over the place.

Yep, a lot easier to ignore one thread than to ignore the entire forum.
Sigh, ok, I'm not gonna debate forum rules with you. Enjoy.
Farming Rules are simple:
Turn off your XP.
Done.
It's been pretty plainly spelled out. There isn't a need to avoid AE altogether. Just be intelligent about what you choose to participate in in regards to AE itself.

The whole possibility of getting "retro" punished for something I did really turned me off of using MA. I can understand if I was hacking the game but using Rikti Communication Officers is an exploit? Ummm, ok. It's your game and you can define it how you want but I'm really not interested in even trying to figure out what the rules of the day are. I'll stick to hunting badges until things settle down or something else tickles my fancy. Either way I think I will remember this whole experience for a long time.

True.
Just stick to Dev's Choice missions an you won't risk running into any invisible electric fences.

Alas for your witty rejoinder pointing out facts (dev definition of 'exploit' remains vague, dev approved content is the best way to avoid 'exploits') isn't 'crying'

Hi everyone!
I am very confused. In game so many people are saying different things. Are we allowed to farm in AE? Will our toons be deleted if we do? I don't want to break the rules of the game.
Thank you
