Hmmm... I thought by his post he'd surpassed the 5 rule and Mid's was
(correctly) not showing him extra bonuses, and he was thinking that 5
identical sets was the problem and throwing a different set in was then ok.

That said, the ctrl-b trick for having Mid's actually show you which sets
are problematic, is a wrinkle I didn't know -- I'm embarrassed to say how
I used to tell (in Mid's) if I was going over the 5 Rule.

PS> It's funny how life works sometime - just Tuesday, my friend and I were
planning out new builds in Mid's and we wondered if there was a way to
find out the exact information that ctrl-b gives... Nice.

Bonus points for also specifying what this recipe would sell for if vendored...

Teasing aside, EndMod recipes have been the one common IO recipe that fairly
consistently sells on market for higher than crafting table price for certain levels.

None of the others do that (consistently), but I had a toon that sold them
on the market from the crafting table for ~35-65% profits -- for months (in I-11).

I scratched my head that it ever worked back then, and it tickles me that
    it still (evidently) works today...

It certainly defies logical explanation, and has done so for years...

Well, it's honestly no more of a stretch than knowing there are formulas for
everything else in the game like: Def, Acc/ToHit, XP, leveling etc.

I don't expect to see those displayed prominently either, but I assure you
that folks who find the results of those formulas important have a pretty
good idea on where to find them and how to use them...

I don't see the market any differently, especially when all of the market
numbers are a flat price or one simple division or multiplication (orders of
magnitude simpler than the other formulas I alluded to).

I'll give a mulligan to anyone who hasn't passed Grade 3 or 4 math yet,
but for the rest, well, I can think of dozens of things I'd rather see the
devs put quality time towards than this...

So, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree and leave it at that.

  6. One tip that folks may find helpful when listing sales.

I list my stuff from the Stored tab, and I start at the bottom of the list
and work my way up to the top.

I think that one of the reasons folks may be getting listing prices on the
wrong item is that the UI shuffles things around when an item changes
"categorys" (ie. from Stored to Selling).

I find that working from bottom upwards helps me avoid that problem.

Maybe because you'd like to be knowledgeable about this game?

Maybe you'd prefer to not have a crappy AHUI further cluttered with
information that is very easy to determine already?

My thought is if you'd like them to add a *useful* idea, why not have
an actual vendor at each WW or BM?

"That Guy Who Knows Something" could be a vendor, and his schtick
could be "Hey, you can buy/sell items with me, or you could check out
those shady characters by that truck over there"...

Heck, it's already true with many Merit Vendors near the markets.

In any case, what I've listed are the vendor prices....

If you'd just prefer to complain (since it's posted here, rather than in the Suggestion Forum) -
my appologies for attempting to provide helpful information.... I'll move along now...

    Carry On.

    Regards,

  8. Well, for the most part, the vendor prices are simple.

1> You can't sell the crafted enhancement at all...

2a> Common Salvage (white) sells for: 250
2b> Uncommon Salvage (yellow) goes: 1000
2c> Rare Salvage (orange) vendors for: 5000

3> Common Recipes vendor according to a simple math formula based
on the level of the recipe and its crafting costs (shown when you mouseover it)

    3a> Level 10 - 25 ... Sells for Crafting Price / 8
    3b> Level 30 - 40 ... Sells for Crafting Price / 5.333
    3c> Level 45 - 50 ... Sells for Crafting Price / 4

4> Set Recipes prices are based on their level and rarity
4a> Uncommon (yellow) sell for 100 X recipe level
4b> Rare Recipes (orange) sell for 200 X recipe level.

5> Costume pieces typically vendor for a flat 100

I don't recall what it is for temporary powers, but you won't get rich
    vendoring them...

    Regards,

  9. The basic issue (as I understand it) is the "name" of the bonus, as shown in
the combat attributes window (ie. "Huge Regen Bonus").

You can only have 5 sets contributing to that particular name regardless of
which actual IO sets they are.

    Regards,
    4
  10. I think you're far liklier to have the reverse situation;

A great PvE build that is awful in PvP...

Generally, the attributes you'd typically want for a solid PvP toon (HP,
Burst Dmg, High Rch, Stealth, IO's/Sets/Purples etc.) will far exceed the
    minimum needs of PvE content.

I'd be extremely surprised to find a good PvP build that doesn't rock PvE.

Zylo is one of my favorite players. In fact, his Brute build is what got me wanting
to make one just like it -- It's just too funny not to...

He's an awful PvP'er - I suspect (and hope) that is deliberate...

I think his "fun" comes from building a nearly indestructible toon, standing in the
middle of the zone, and laughing hysterically to himself as the uninformed bust their
teeth on that Brute of his.

Many times he doesn't even bother to fight back or retaliate...

I laugh just watching it, sometimes... He has a Tank that he plays similarily.

But, two things you should know.

1> Even with that Brute, he doesn't leap into hero huddles, and he'd die pretty
    quickly if he did.

2> The regulars (ie. the guys that are there every night and can handle their
toons well) leave him alone... Why?

Because, the only thing that makes him hard to kill is high HP and regen, and
skilled players can overcome those fairly easily. After that, there's not a lot of
    challenge there.

I've rarely seen him kill anybody, and never seen him kill a regular. I've seen Blasters
(and others) take him down periodically, and I'm pretty sure most of the regulars
have killed him enough times to satisfy any curiosity about whether they can or not...

That said, I admire his approach to PvP - He clearly has fun with it in his own
particular way, in spite of the fact it isn't especially *effective* in terms of actual
    pvp kills or kill ratio.

It is a lot of fun to watch. He's like a Rock Statue stuck in the middle of the zone.
Most folks just steer around him and keep on going...

That they do bypass him (mostly) is, I think, the part that's the "win" for him
(ie. "Here I am standing all by myself in a busy PvP zone, and most folks won't
    even bother messing with me").

The simple fact that the newbies can't mess with him, and the regulars don't
need to, is largely irrelevant to his fun. That's the part I respect.

    Fair enough.

I must be "Old School" I bid creep on pretty much everything...

To be sure, the number of bids and the speed at which they increase depends
a lot on the particular item, but I still do it... Even on salvage...

First, I *love* the idea of getting something cheaper than the last 5 - that's
a "W" in my book. It's all about getting the bargain

Second, over time the amount I've saved has gotten me more shinies in
    the long term.

Third, you know the old saw: "Rich people didn't get to be rich people by needlessly
    giving their money away"

And, Finally, the one that might make dave_p yell at me is that it's all leisure
time - if it takes 5 mins, or 25 mins, it's all good to me... Efficiency only matters
if Urgency requires minimizing the time costs. For me, nothing in the game is "Urgent".

If NCSoft was that worried about credit card fraud then they should have contacted the credit card company and asked if it had been reported stolen. (Companies are allowed to say yes or no without giving out personal information. I used that tactic when I was working in retail loss prevention.) True.

I think the other thing that leaps out at me, is the evident fact that most
folks haven't figured out the idea of bid-creeping...

I guess that's not too surprising, but given the millions I've saved using that
simple idea, I'm not sure why it isn't more prevalent. <shrug>

Oh well, it's their play money... actually, it's now *your* play money...

Amusingly, while we often hear from the uninformed how "flipping" drives up prices,
this actually *does* raise them, and there's not a peep from the masses...

    Unpossible!

Kudos to you gents - another fine piece of Ebil perpetrated on the casual warshading masses

PS> Yes, I know that the pricing isn't being spuriously driven up, rather the
last 5 are too low given the high demand and 0 supply...

Still, the simple economical facts don't make the scenario any less ironic and funny to me

There are two restrictions (the 30 day bruhaha notwithstanding).

    1> You have to be the same faction... So, I have two awaken inspies in e:mail;
    1 Hero, 1 Villain.

2> You need to have an open inspiration slot in your tray to claim the e:mail.

  17. Been here since Original Beta, less one 18 month break around I7-I8 timeframe.

I enjoy the comic book Hero/Villain concept, the story lines, and I also enjoy
the gameplay and the uniqueness of playstyle that each AT has...

I like the sheer number of different things I can do with any particular toon
to while away the evening hours.

Those things keep me playing the game, despite the head-scratching I do
whenever the devs release another piece of poorly considered, or outright buggy
code... So far, the good stuff outweighs the goofy stuff (though sometimes
I wonder, but that's the career programmer in me wondering "wtf?").

I also enjoy the forums, and the sheer volume of helpful information I've read
from the friendly players in our community.

  18. I'm doubtful you'd be able to get away with it - even on a Brute...

That said, one thing I personally have a lot of fun with in those scenarios is
dropping a Shivan right in the middle of the pack... Makes me chuckle every time

Amusingly (and more times than you'd think), my stalker often gets a "distraction"
kill as a bonus out of the deal, if a hero gets sloppy...

Even without a kill - it's still immensely entertaining now and then...

    Cheers,
    4
  19. My Stalkers slot for 60% Acc in each attack.

In addition, I always have a Karma +Acc in there, and typically another 10
to 20% or so in global acc bonuses, and I find that I'm usually able to hit
    what I'm aiming at.

I'd agree with Conflict that more acc is better - short of gimping a build in
other attributes, I don't think you can have *too* much acc...

Especially in PvP where you're not likely get a lot of attacks, you don't want to,
and probably can't afford to miss.

    Regards,

  20. My friend and I duo'd two night widows up to L50 and they work very, very well
    together.

Their defenses and leadership powers complement each other nicely.

Thinking back, there are synergistic powers to take but I can't think of anything
    to actively avoid.

You'll want to co-ordinate your respecs (mandatory at L24) for those synergies,
    but that's about it.

We had a lot of fun with ours.

    Regards,
    4
  21. Yep - If you don't have problems with Ruluruu or travelling around, the Shard
is a great place - My E3 spent tons of time there back in the day...

    4
  22. After losing some stuff the first day (GM's returned it to me after a week of
research - tyvm!), I'm reminded not to trust their code... I use it for transfers
only, and I claim them as quickly as possible.

The only "long-term" stuff stored there is an awaken inspie -- if that gets
deleted, I'm out 11 inf... I can live with *that* risk...

    Cheers,
    4
  23. A simple question, but as usual, the answer is: it depends...

What is your L50 looking to do?

Is it some sort of farmer (inf, tickets, merits, PvP)?

Is it some type of Role Player (krytonite for a certain NPC group, mentor to
    newbies, drive-by buffer)?

Is it an S/VG provider - crafter, prestige earner, base builder?

Is it a casual-play toon - odd paper missions, Shard missions, etc.

How you play and how you answer these questions point to the locations.

    In my case, I'm a 95% solo'er and a duo'er the other 5%. I have some
different toons in several of those categories...

I have a couple that stay in PvP zones, I have one that farms the wall in
Cimoera (sp?) cuz killing Romans en-masse is amusing. I have a couple that
run Ouros missions for merits, and one or two financial moguls who camp
at the Market, and even a couple that hang out in lowbie zones assisting
new players (sort of RP Mentor toons)...

All of those are solo characters, and all of them play in different places for
a whole host of different reasons - likewise all of them are fun for me for
    various reasons also.

Hope that gives you some more framework for your question.

The answer is up to you.

    Regards,

  24. @Tight Tod

I can't speak for the arena, but in zones there is a chance for a pvp io recipe
drop for any kill that would award you rep against a player within (3?) levels
    of you...

Since PvP zones automatically exemplar everyone to a particular level (L25 in BB,
L30 in SC, L38 in WB, and L50 in RV) the level requirement is a non-factor
    in zones.

Once you kill a player, there's a 5 minute window before killing him again would
count for rep (or io drops).

As far as salvage drops are concerned, any kill gives you a chance for it whether
it is a rep-valid kill or not... But IO recipes must be rep-valid kills.

    @DemonSeries

Yes. You lose the target box for a few seconds on player rez - same as it currently
happens when Freaks rez in PvE.
