Widow duo questions
Well keeping in mind I'm learning my way around Widows myself, here are my thoughts:
1) Powers to be avoided - you may have seen my post with a similar question regarding Night Widows. In all honesty there doesn't seem to be many that you actually want to avoid, just decisions on what fits what you want to do. I'd say CT:O is not really necessary (though more useful earlier on), Confront certainly doesn't seem to be necessary. If one of you is playing a Night Widow you probably be better keeping to the melee attacks and only picking up one or two ranged attacks if any, and the opposite would be true for the Fortuanta (sticking more to ranged/control and less melee).
2) I believe the Fortuanta is going to be better overall at AoE, the Night Widow seems to be all about taking down targets fast, but one at a time, that being said Night Widows can do some nice AoE, Spin out of Hide is a beautiful thing.
Regardless, from what I've seen any combo of NW and Fortuanta is going to be deadly, double the leadership powers and mindlink either way. I can't really imagine a disadvantage to any combination, except if you both choose the same type and you end up facing mobs that are particularly resistant to your type of damage (be it leathel for NW or Pyschic from Forts).
My friend and I duo'd two night widows up to L50 and they work very, very well
together.
Their defenses and leadership powers complement each other nicely.
Thinking back, there are synergistic powers to take but I can't think of anything
to actively avoid.
You'll want to co-ordinate your respecs (mandatory at L24) for those synergies,
but that's about it.
We had a lot of fun with ours.

Me and my wife have recently decided to roll some villains to duo, and seeing as neither of us had a Veat, we decided to roll them. Coincidentally, we both decided on widows.
We will be duo'ing or teaming only, no solo play on these toons. What are some of the powers that should be avoided, if there are any, and which ones are must haves. Which branch would be most benificial for dealing AoE damage? We will be doing 98 percent PvE, with going to the PvP zones for accolade purposes mostly, sometimes I may want to kill squishies though, so that is a possibility. |
A friend and I played a Widow and Crab to 50....I concentrated on the controls and lockdowns and he concentrated on the AOE and damage...it was loads of fun. Of course taking the Damage and Defense team buffs that come with the two is vital for any kind of team.
We used those two as the core of 8 man teams. With our team buffs we could really just invite 6 others of any stripe and be successful. We made a lot of friends on our way to 50, played the content we wanted to and moved very quickly through the levels. New team members were consistent in their comments of how well the team moved.

Willpower has more passive regen than Regen does. Who thought that was a good idea?
Can we get a fix for Energy Melee instead of more new sets?
