Quote:The price has already been set. Pay for a subscription and get the reward when the subscribed time has been achieved. That is the reasonable price.
If you canceled your account, left, or whatever, TOUGH. GET OVER IT.
Sometimes NO means just that. NO.

Quote:And thanks to the Notes/Star and ignore features we have the tools to permanently avoid the teaming/build-nazis.You're doing it wrong.
I've seen threads a long time ago where you talked about how you formed teams. You were very picky, not accepting this AT or that powerset, because they weren't "good enough". If that's not changed, that's probably a big part of your problem. Not only does it obviously limit your choices, but plenty of people won't bother teaming again with someone who plays like that. -
Quote:The only problem with being able to choose is that once the person has chosen everything he likes he'll *****, moan, and complain that the remaining rewards all suck, and he has no reason to continue trying to get them.Though I too think Luminara's post was priceless...
Would it be okay to have a pool of Vet rewards to pick from at each step? Say a Power Tier that includes all of the Vet Powers, a Costume Tier that includes all of the costume bits, etc.
Then, whenever a costume or power is offered as a Vet Reward, one can CHOOSE which of the powers or costumes or whatever they want. That way, they would have the same number of rewards that they qualify for, and the same range of rewards (they wouldn't have all of the good Vet Rewards by 15 months...) but would still not have to wait as long if the only thing they really want is say, the Boxing Outfit.
It might be nice if they limited which of vet rewards you could choose. Say the costume pieces. When it's time for a costume reward we could choose one from a list. -
Quote:*sniff* It's times like this when I realize how much I love Luminara.Translation matrix engaged.
"Dear NCSoft and development team,
Despite my failure to keep my subscription active in order to qualify for veteran rewards, and thereby depriving you of between $30 and $45 for each three month period, I believe you should sell me those same rewards for $3, a discount of 90% or more, and allow me to access them immediately. The fact that everyone else has had to pay that $30-45 and wait for up to five and a half years for their veteran rewards should not, in any way, sway your decision.
In short, gimme stuff, and thanks for being stupid, gullible and terrible at math and finances. Suckers.
Love,
BB"

Quote:lol.. I can't disagree with the first part of your statement...
But as to the second part... the events should be secondary to the regular content. Consider that the events themselves ARE currently timed so as not to interfere with regular content. How much sense does it make then, to have them popping up back to back thereby interfering with regular content?
We are not talking about tweaking the events themselves (at least I'm not), but rather implementing a kind of timed "zone flag" so that they don't occur back to back in the same zone. Imagine what would happen if they were to decide to add yet a third event into the mix next year.
Yeah the timing is problematic especially when the zombie thing is also tied to people turning in halloween salvage at night. At the very least that should be turned off. We might see a significant drop in the zombie attacks. -

Quote:Just cats.Did he mean cats and people who give the impressions of cat like tendencies or just cats?
Crazy cat ladies and people with cat like tendencies are still at the bottom of the list with the rest of humanity.
Oh and it's my humble nature that prevents me from listing myself in the number three slot alongside my brother and sister veterans. -
I like the OP's idea.
I'll also admit I feel more important than Eiko, but it has nothing to do with vet rewards. I felt that way long before this game was released. Of course there are people I think are more important than I am.
1. Active duty military personnel (regardless of nationality)
2. Inactive military personnel (see above parenthesis)
3. Veterans (see above parenthesis)
4. Families of troops and veterans (see above parenthesis)
5. Cops, Firemen, Paramedics
6. Cats
7. Me
8. inanimate objects

Quote:The things that need to be updated are the old TF's and storylines, not the events.Hi:
I believe events should not detract from the main game, as it is doing now. What I see some of the posters above advocating, is essentially wrong from the perspective that particular TFs, threads and what not should not be done because of the events.
I believe the main game should have preference over the events, and not otherwise. Folks doing story threads are fundamental to this game, and TFs are a close second. Neither should be sacrificed in any form or manner just to satisfy a holiday event.
Frankly with a little effort on the developers side, all activities can be achieved with out repercussions on the other.
Some of us in this thread are trying to be constructive and offer means on achieving a balance that benefits all.

Quote:You're not taking Oro mishes into account, either.
Having finished all the Holiday events on as many toons as I wanted, I teamed up with a friend to get a badge through the Oro. There was a "hunt 35 family in IP" mish that came up as part of the arc. Wouldn't ya know it, but both a Banner Event and a Zombie Event popped up back to back. Since the mish specified IP, we didn't have the option to move to another zone for the hunt and were stuck twiddling our thumbs for 40 minutes until the events cleared.
I don't think 'Just wait to do regular content for two weeks until the holiday events are over' is the right answer.
To be honest I didn't list Oro missions seperately because I consider them to be a form of task force. -
Here's the problem the devs have with ToTing. In the beginning ToTing was level appropriate. PI spawned the highest level opponents and AP spawned the lowest level opponents. The trouble was that the devs found that a lot of players were using their high level alts to farm the low level zones, so they made some changes. They made it so you couldn't ToT unless you were in the level range for that zone. 50's could no longer ToT in AP. Instead the players shifted to joining low level ToT teams and continued to farm low level zones by letting the lowbies knock on doors and the 50's killed the spawns. Finally the devs settled on the current ToT setup which is detrimental to low level alts.
Not saying I like it. Just saying the poor devs can't win. -

Whoever thought it would be a good idea for a massively multiplayer online role playing game to have a holiday event that encourages teaming was nuts.
-
Quote:I'm sorry but regular teams should not be impeded in any way by having an occasional hunt mission crop up during this holiday. However as has been mentioned it is not just TF's that are affected. Last Time I was playing as part of a team we twice had contact given hunt missions being put on hold due to an event. Not an earth shattering problem obviously but a bit of a pain.
Teams consist of anywhere between 2 and 8 members giving them access to 6 to 24 missions. Utilizing the SK/exemplar feature, that's more than enough alternative missions for a team to choose from if a hunt mission crops up during an event.
That's not taking newspaper/radio missions, Mayhem/Safeguard missions, and AE missions into consideration. None of those are affected by the Halloween event. -
Wasn't there a bug a while back that gave some people access to booster pack costume pieces that didn't buy the boosters?
If that's what happened here, then I'd like to point at the OP and laugh for getting upset at deleting something he got by taking advantage of a bug. -

Trial Account
Overview
Trial Accounts allow a player to take City of Heroes and/or City of Villains for a test run. They are free and last either 10 or 14 days, depending on the source of the Trial Account code. Up until Issue 12, a Trial Account was not limited in what it could do; as of Issue 12, there are several restrictions put in place. Most of these restrictions were placed due to RMT spam.
Restrictions
Trial Accounts cannot email other players
Trial Accounts may not level past 14
Trial Accounts can only have 50k influence
Trial Accounts may not join global channels
Trial Accounts can only speak in
/local
/hc (the Help channel)
/team
Trial Accounts cannot invite players to team
Trial Accounts may join teams, but not invite other players
Trial Accounts may not join SuperGroups.
Trial Accounts may not create Mission Architect arcs. They can not interface with the Architect Entertainment Stations. However, they can be invited onto a team that is running MA missions. -
Quote:Sorry Stormy but I find myself agreeing with Bill on this one.But the 5th column and Council are *not* each other, any more than the Devouring Earth and Freakshow are. So, no, the 5th shouldn't count against Council hunts.
Now, limiting how many mixed spawns there are (which cause those fights?) Sure, if possible. My last "Defeat X council" hunt in Founders wasn't made all that much harder by having the 5th column around, but it was lengthened a little.
Edit: Corrected spelling. Fond to find. -

Quote:Just checked my User CP today to find someone managed to give me Neutral Rep. Until this points I've been only getting green jellybeans and the odd red one for one ridiculous reason or another, but a grey one?
When was this possible?! O.o
When the rep of the person giving it is so low his/her opinion amounts to nothing. -
Quote:Because I don't want to quote a big post that won't quote right anyway, let me address this to ZNRGY_XERONUS:
I can respect the sentiment in your last post and I can respect what it takes to say it. I have no further qualms with your position or expression, and I hope you can keep this positive attitude further on in the thread, because I honestly do agree with you on one major point - I would like to see an underwater zone done right, because I would LOVE to see how our powers would change in water. It would be cool to see that, at least, but I just don't expect it to be something they'd work on. Again, I've seen underwater environments done WRONG, and I'd rather have them not present at all than presented like that.
There's one thing I've found to be true about creating works of art and works of fiction - cursing at limitations and stomping your feet until they go away only serves to deteriorate your work. Trust me, I've tried it, and all it did was lose me time and brain cells, and even when the limitation was lifted, the result wasn't always as spectacular as I thought. On the other hand, just reworking around limitations can sometimes produce actually superior results. In essence, I think we're likely to see an underwater zone at some point, only it won't be an IN water zone, and we'll see various cheeky ways to keep us out of the water. And if Bioshock managed to have a game take place inside an underwater city without once putting you IN the water (outside the plane crash at the beginning), then it's not quite impossible.
Sam can confirm That I also like the idea of an underwater zone done right as I bounced content ideas I had off of him via private messages.
Edit: Oh and MAOR BaBs! -
Quote:Uhm . . . Yes?Raising the same question over and over again does not necessarily "motivate the vendor" to do anything. Should I keep complaining to my bank and the ATM manufacturer that I can't play classic Battlezone on their ATM? It's likely possible - simple screen, it's got a computer built in, buttons that can take left and right (and fire) input, so why shouldn't they do it if I keep nagging them? The program itself is ancient, and probably wouldn't take more than a few kb of space.
So I should keep nagging them about this, right? Keeping the vendor motivated and all that?

Quote:Thank you for taking the time to correct my misunderstanding of what you said BaBs.Actually, I said it would take the gibbering idiot they replace me with years to do and ultimately look stupid...because gibbering idiots aren't known for the quality of their work as much as their ability to gibber.
Whether or not we ever do an underwater zone or underwater gameplay is not my call to make...I'm simply stating the fact that it's very low on my list of things that I would want to see us do for this game and would be pretty forthright about expressing my opinion as such.
The dig at Aquaman was a joke and sincerely apologize to him and his lovely family; Aquawoman, Aqualad, and the rest of the Aquaclan...you are all special in your own unique and clammy ways. -
Quote:You are correct that the devs rarely give a clear message about upcoming features. But it is also true that it is even more rare to hear a dev say something will never happen. In 5 years I can count on one hand the number of times I've heard a dev say no.Admittedly, I misspoke about the "silly" reference and for that I'm sorry and I apologize to BABs for that! I do read the forum a lot but I can't read every post. It is the Devs job to know what they can or can't be done and I understand only a fraction of what can be done in a game like this. There's never really, at least in my opinion, a clear message about what can be done in this game until it actually goes live. I never thought we would have power customization and I posted quite a bit about wanting it in the game. When BABs explained the complexity of what it entailed, I let it go and didn't post about it further. Here we are with this feature now in the game, so I guess I expect a lot out of them and I'll keep expecting a lot from them because they've proven that they can accomplish a lot.
1. Respeccing out of powersets/pulling more than 10 enhancements
2. Open world PvP
3. Selling inf to undercut RMT sites
4. No underwater zone
Am I missing any?
As to power customization, the devs did not say they would never add that feature to the game. They only said that it would take years to do it right and we shouldn't expect it any time soon. Guess what? It took FIVE YEARS.
We aren't the ones that have said this feature will never be worked on. BaBs is the one that said that and he explained why he won't assign any resources to it.Quote:I must be blunt here, there are a lot of armchair devs on this forum and frankly I can't put any stock in what many of you say, even if it's accurate. Too many times here, you folks will jump down someone throat on a topic and are dead wrong. I've read so many post from new players asking questions and instead giving the information or how to acces the information themselves, the person is derided. Instead of being a teacher here -- you're more like a know it all bully. So pardon me if I don't take what any of you say at face value!!!
If you don't like getting negative feedback from other forum members then you shouldn't post in the suggestion forums. Simply send your suggestions to the devs via private message. The suggestion forums is where players debate the merits and flaws of an idea.
