Quote:Sorry about that. Creepy wasn't my intention. I was just offering an alternative that isn't difficult to do, and has the benefit of saving peoples lives.o.O
Forbin you never cease to amaze...in a pretty creepy kinda way.
A person could make $200. a month and in todays economy who couldn't use the extra cash.

Quote:I read this on paragonwiki that Free Respecs when given are not stackable and only 1 is allowed per toon. I ask this as I read somewhere when GR goes live that if we have a free respec that we never used prior, we will lose it if we don't use it "before" i17 goes live and the new free respec is given.
Why not make "all" respecs stackable regardless of where they come from? That way, for those who have not used their free respecs yet, why be punished by not letting them keep it? Think about it, we pay a monthly fee to maintain our accounts. For you long-time vets out there, there is something called loyalty to the game and players should be rewarded for this. So, any free respecs given either for patches or new issues, we should be allowed to keep and stack for our loyalty. What do you guys think?
No one is being punished. Freespecs are a gift. Players are not entitled to them. -
The OP could sell blood plasma. In the US there are centers all across the country and every plasma donation center has its own compensation plan. Generally you are paid $20 to $25 for the first weekly visit and $30 to $45 for the second. On top of this, many centers have additional cash prizes or gift certificate programs to keep things fun and interesting.

Quote:To be perfectly honest I simply googled animated avatars and I stumbled across it on one of the dozen or so sites that popped up. I didn't keep track of site names and just saved a bunch of avatars to my photobucket account. People seemed to like this one when I put it up so I left it.Where does it come from? The animation, that is
I've been wondering since it showed up as your avi
I have no idea where it originally came from, but it pops up on several sites if you google images and search "animated drinking squirrel avatar" -

Why is your rep off
We don't know each other but I stand by that opinion. I can imagine no circumstance in the game where a person would want to pull every single enhancement off of a character other than
1. He/she wants to reuse the enhancements on other alts. That way he/she won't have to buy new enhancements.
2. He/she wants to sell some or all of them on the market to finance other characters.
As to why I have my rep off, I like many others don't play the rep game. We have far too many rep trolls that use the feature to take pot shots at people anonymously. Also having the rep off frustrates the trolls because even if I ignore their comments they can't see any effect their rep is having. All anyone ever sees is the one grey jellybean.
Personally I don't even waste my time using the rep feature. If I have something negative to say to someone I'll post it where everyone can see it. -
What's clear is that this suggestion is motivated solely by player greed.

Quote:New players aren't going to have IO'd out toons. So your argument fails right there. So you're saying that each time someone respecs, they have to get all their enhancements except for those 10 anew, unless they they want to go through the BS of having to respec multi times, great! I have no problems with it really, as I have plenty of them. I guess all those new people(with a junk IOd out toons) that the devs want to bring in, that want to respec, are **** out of luck

You have to start over because you didn't understand the game! GL newbies
No way to fix it except to start over!
When you do a respec most of your enhancements get reslotted in the new build. 10 is more than enough to hold enhancements that don't go into the newly chosen powers.
The only reason a person would want to pull every single enhancement from a character is if the player decided to delete the character in question and wants to recycle the slotted enhancements. -
Quote:Okay. I'm going to take you on directly again.
From here:
This was already addressed in one of your other threads, found here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=218960
Now, in that thread, you started out saying this:
You, at some point, obviously have read with comprehension that the developers said no to full respecs. Not:
- No, the engine cannot handle it
- No, it's too much work work
- No, we're not sure it will work well.
They said: No, it does not fit our goals with the game.
And yet, despite the QA being posted 04-23-2010, 11:32 PM, you started a thread at Old 04-25-2010, 04:16 AM... less than 48 hours later... promptly trying to figure out another way around not getting a Full Re-specification. That thread got shot down in a hurry.
So here we are, this thread, started at 04-25-2010, 10:17 PM... so pretty much the same day... respinning the idea that the devs already said NO to. You even admitted in the opening post that you saw just how opposed to the concept the forum-player base was:
Here's a hint: Quit trying to spin a design choice that the developer's don't agree with. If you are going to propose any kind of system that is a radical change to the direction of the game and the ideals of the game, you'd better have some really good reasoning behind it.
Now, I'm not saying that the developers minds can't be changed. There have been several changes through the years that have been made after player input. Unfortunately, my search-fu is weak, and despite using both Google and Yahoo, and searching for the terms suggestions; improvements; list; player; made; implement; implemented in any combination, I can't find a list of player made suggestions that were implemented in the game... even though I know a couple people have compiled such lists.
Anyways, the developers can be convinced to roll back changes, or implement ideas that they may not have intended to implement. However, much of these changes have generally been justifiable. They don't go completely counter to what the game is.
Which is where we get back to your suggestion. Okay, fine. Full Re-Specifications and automagically changing powers is pretty much par for the course from the likes of TopCow, Image, Marvel, and DC. However, City of Heroes is none of those. It's is own game, with it's own design goals, and it's own features. The development staff decided to make the game friendly to having multiple avatars with multiple play styles and multiple experiences.
What you want, does not fit what the game is, and what the game is being designed to be. It doesn't matter how you spin it, what restrictions you place on it, or whatever... the developers are not going to implement any system that allow you to automagically become another power set or archtype.

Quote:Server transfers are $9.99 one way.I *barely* missed the free character transfers and I have a character on Victory with the Celebrant badge that I'd like to move to Freedom... The problem is; I can't find the cost of a character transfer anywhere.
I see the instructions on how to do it, but I can't seem to find the actual price.
Anyone know? -

Quote:Don't forget EU only gets 4 servers plus test. That's nice.
It's still not going to happen. You want it to? Make your own engine that works with this kind of thing.
Oh yeah, and train people not to be utter nubcakes when they do it and don't understand the first thing about how to play their newly respec'd toon.
It's called "we get 36 character slots per server with 11 servers plus test, use them". -
Quote:He posed a rhetorical question. A rhetorical question is a figure of speech in the form of a question posed for its persuasive effect without the expectation of a reply. He was theorizing on how my suggested system would work. I felt that was an inquiry for clarification. So I was simply trying to clarify.
Furthermore you don't get to decide who gets to post in a thread you start.
Edit: Fixed because Zek was right. -

Seriously, where are you getting this from? Positron just recetly told us that this is never going to happen.
Just because the devs refuse to add a feature to the game doesn't mean they hate it. They just have valid reasons for refusing it. Dismissing those reasons is a personal problem you have to deal with.Quote:and the sheer apparent hatred of the idea out there, -
Please take the time to make sure you are upgrading the trial account instead of creating a new account. Occasionally people make that mistake and Customer Service can't merge the accounts.

I agree with the position the devs have taken on this idea in the past.

I FOUND THE THREAD!!!
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...bscription+fee
Here's some highlights of that guys argument for lowering the sub fee.
Quote:Originally posted by Psywarrior2450
another game i play phantasy star universe which is $9.99/month. it came out in october 2006. and ppl complain about the fee there all the time. and sometimes i subscribe to wow. also xbox live $50/yr these fees add up. 9.99 for psu, 14.99 for wow, 14.99 for coh. thats 50+ a month on games. this adds up.
along with about 200 to 300 on groceries/alcohol/restaurants per month, 279 for rent each month. 40/mo to my brother for doing the dishes, and cleaning the apartment. 20 for adult entertainment. 50 for car insurance. 25 for renters insurance. 10 for life insurance. 30+ for gas. i'm gonna have to pay for dental insurance soon. also money for furniture, new bed, bedding stuff, electronics, soon a new $1200 computer. also other games i buy such as sf4, fightpad controller, defense grid, castle crashers, ssf2thdr and other games, video rentals. and medical expenses i just paid 735 for a hospitol bill, credit report 25. gambling, movie theateres, postal stamps, luckily no credit cards currently. and i get about $900/month from disability, and i live in north county san diego, ca. i'm not working right now. soon i'll go back to work after i have a cataract in my eye removed. then i go back to pizza delivery for round table while getting disability.
i'm surprised so many ppl were against this. you must be rich or are you brats that live off your parents. how easily do you give away your money. it seems like you should want to save money not give it away. what are you gonna do when champions comes out? pay another 14.99 or let your characters die? i'll probably subscribe to this on, and off like i do wow. and switch to champions maybe when it comes out. also i was only trying this game out to see wheter i like it or if it was worth it, not promising to be a lifetime subscriber.
its legal to work while on disability. i just have to report it right away to the social security office, medical office, and to the apartment management for the hud reduction in rent, and i get less disability money depending on how much i make working.
jeeze. i have never started a topic that got over 4000 hits before. i feel so loved. i hope you don't mind if i don't read all of them. i will assume you all just love me that much. i think i'm gonna budget cut this game next month. it was fun though. i'm just that cheap. soon i will try out age of conan, and warhammer after i get my new computer that i'm buying with a credit card next month. pass the pipe. share the wealth, and the love. bye. bye.
i haven't said much, and i'm still receiving tons of replies. and over 5650 hits now. i was just wondering if you would like to listen to my farts also. here i go. fart, ppphhhhhhbbbbbbbbbb. pphhhbbbttttttttt.
Someone pointed this out to him about his budget
Quote:you're complaining about the $15 here, but yet you spend:
$10 - PSU
$15 - WoW
$ 4 - XBox
$20 - porn
$2-300 for groceries/restaurants/alcohol (Say $100 of that for restaurants/alcohol)
undisclosed amount for gambling/theatres (for argument's sake, let's say $100)
You spend nearly $250/month on non-essential entertainment. You are paying $25 less for your entertainment than your rent.
More than a quarter of your income (of $900) is going to entertainment.
I am no financial expert, but it's clear to me that you cannot afford
- alcohol
- excess gaming and equipment
- a $1200 computer
- electronics
- video rentals
And you balk at our paying $15/month for a game?
Even BaBs chimed in with this to say:
Quote:Jay and I were actually paid by Taco Bell to eat one day. They were doing some marketing research on a new product and gave us some "taco bell bucks" for sampling it and filling out a little form. -
We also called shenanigans, but we pointed out that his monthly budget exceeded what he claimed he got for his "disability" by several hundred dollars and that's if he actually spent money on the items he claimed because who buys new furniture each month?

Quote:Seeing that, yeah that was definitely one of the points brought up in that old thread. And from what I recall some of them expanded on Statesman's mysterious input with other references. Maybe it was something about bomb shelters during the Rikti invasion. Not sure, but it was about underground construction, Cot, and Rikti.Unfortunately the Paragon Times isn't available on the official site anymore, but I dug it up with the Wayback Machine.
From here, this is what I was referring to: -
