Character Achievement Transfer

Okay, so let's say you've spent a lot of time leveling one character, but after a while, you start getting tired of some unchangable fact about it... Perhaps your first healer, that archery/empathy defender you've had sitting there for years only made it to about level 30 because you realized that after the novelty of being a healer wears off, you stop liking archery that much... Or one of the many energy-energy blasters you've got up to level 32 from different time periods has got to go...

Therefore, let the deletio-cutioner start sharpening that axe...

But what about all of those badges you got on that character? Not to mention certain seasonal bonuses you've held onto as keepsakes... But most of all, did you REALLY spend all that time it took to level that character, just so that it could all come to nothing by being deleted one day?

It shouldn't be, I say! Which is why I've come up with a possible solution!

*white sheet comes flying off of the odd-shaped lump under it*

Behold! Character Achievement Transference! Instead of having that deleted character become a waste of time, it is made so that every time a character is deleted, all of their experience, rare recipes and other scarce goodies are all salvaged into a sort of "treasure box", so to speak.

These are basically little virtual boxes of stuff that a deleted character has left behind. They cannot be copied or applied to an already made character. You can, however, make one (And ONLY one) new character with all of these things applied to it.

You can't take certain things out of the 'box' and give it to other characters, like, say give Deleted-Man's XP to Captain Newb and his influence to Lowbie Man. The 'benefactor' character gets the whole pack of stuff.

"But Sparx! That's game-breaking!"

*Gives complainer a boot to the head*

Tell me what's so game-breaking about it!

"...I don't know... But I'm sure there's a reason they haven't done it yet!"

Alright then... Any comments on this mechanic? Will it work or not? And if not, why not?

'Till then!

Your forum code is certainly broken, if nothing else. (Curse you, you fixed it while I was writing this!)

This was suggested a few weeks ago, IIRC. Can't actually find it, but I thought I'd throw that out there in case anyone else can.

As to the idea -- I'm split. I certainly wouldn't call it game-breaking, but even as a badger I don't like the idea of transferring badges. 99% of the badges you have on a character you're deleting can be reobtained eventually. The anniversary badges can't, and yeah it's a shame you'd lose those, but that's a trade-off for deleting your character. Want to keep them? Don't delete the character. It's pretty simple. As for losing all your hard work? You're losing all the work you put into leveling the character anyway. Sucks that you leveled a character that you didn't like. I'm not too fond of my very first toon (who is also my hero badger), he's an Elec/Elec Blaster and he sucks on toast. But he's my badger, and he's 50, so I'm keeping him.

TLDR: /unsigned for purely philosophical reasons.

So... rename token ($10) plus Total Respec (flat "no" from devs) plus new and shiny name?

I agree with the position the devs have taken on this idea in the past.

What are you gonna do with the other 351 character slots?
(11 servers x 32 slots = 352)

(or is it 36 slots for 396 total? arrrgghh math 'r hard for me!)

Seriously, we have enough character slots to make several of everything(if you buy them all on every server. Yes I know it's alot of money) and no character is ever a waste. Even if you didn't have spectacular amounts fun you still most likely learned something new about the game that you can use on future characters.

You can already move all of the old character's monetary "stuff" to a new one.
1) Use that character's vetspecs (if you have any) to remove all enhancements.
2) Sell those or gift them via SG bins.
3) Move the wealth via ingame transfer (wait until I-17 or use the Market)

Now, the XP is non-transferable, and I can agree with that stance.

But the Badges? Good Lord, I would pay a reasonable sum for any future booster pack that included that (and a few other goodies) as a perk.
Or for Anniversary badges at the very least to become account-wide. Sure, a Willpower or Dual Blades or Dual Pistols character wasn't around for the 1st anniversary, but neither have they been around for 60+ months to be Veterans either. But you as a player with an active account have.

So yeah, the wealth transfer portion of your request is already done. The rest? Unlikely.
