Quote:Wall running would negate any difficulty Super Speed has with travel. Combined with a speed superior to all but one other travel power, and the bonus addition of PvE stealth, wall running would make SS strictly the best travel power in the game.considering all the improvements this game needs, not to mention new power sets, story arcs etc.....i guarantee running up the walls of a building...which provides basically no use other than to put a smile on a geek's face...is near the end of most people's "want" list.

Quote:Note that the GvE items and Mac Special Edition items were merely a pac to get you the stuff you could have gotten by purchasing a different version of the game. And the Mini-Booster rocket pack is part of the game card, which is simultaneously a means with which to create an account, and a means to pay your monthly subscription.2006:
1 paid pack released: GvE items pack
2 free issues released
2008:
2 free issues released
3 paid pack releases (Wedding, Cyborg, and jetpack)
2009:
3 free issues released
4 paid pack releases (Magic, Science, Mac Items, Martial Arts)
I can't say that 1 more paid release than free release in either 2008 or 2009 warrants much of a concern that they're moving away from free content and more toward paid. -

Becauseā¢.
Walking on water would truly be a visual thing (all of the water in the game is waist-high), and it simply was never added, nor is it a high priority. Also worth noting is that the maximum run speed in this game is not fast enough for a human to run on water, so if you want to bring in real-world physics, there's that.
Walking on walls is a large endeavor in modifying the game's physics, as well as making significant changes to the geometry of the world. There's also the fact that the travel powers are balanced against each other to some extent by their mobility. Super Speed is mostly limited to flat ground, so it's faster than Super Jump or Fly to compensate. -

Known issue. Values being read from the database are apparently shifted by some amount, so I believe the only things that are displaying the proper numbers are pseudopets.

TBH, a floating mouse cursor sounds more like a hardware problem. Have you changed any hardware or hardware drivers recently?

So... scrum meeting that gets redacted because it reveals the content of something two issues in the future, plus a bunch of people typing at computers? Maybe a few jokes between coworkers that have nothing to do with anything currently going on? And -- if we're lucky -- video of lunch while watching an episode of The A-Team?
Seriously, the most interesting thing that an outsider looking in would get from watching a video of a game development studio would be the meetings, and those would probably have to be redacted. That's not just Paragon Studios, that's game studios in general. -
Sprites are 2D
"Rose Star", not "Rose Starr"
What the hell is a "semi-petition"? And "petition time" implies this is, in fact a petition, which is against the rules.

Quote:I seem to recall someone talking about Jim Butcher getting /petitioned because he had a Dresden Files character, and he successfully appealed it because he did, in fact, own the characterI like to think I actually saw him at one point. One day I was flying around Croatoa and I look down to see someone named Harry Dresden fighting some pumpkins. I forget if he was a troller or def, but I just kind of said "heh" and continued on. (I'm not the kind to report names.)
Not sure if it's true or not, of course. May just be rumor, but my comprehension of the EULA leads me to believe it's a possibility. -
Character info is stored on the server, not your computer.

I don't think it's a good idea.
For one, I think it fits the power's flavor better to use it on a demon - besides the buff, the target is calling forth Living Hellfire.
Second, your pets are both your damage and your defense for a Mastermind. Buffing one of your pets is akin to buffing yourself. And the buff given by Hell on Earth is extremely useful for you to have.
Third, I believe "ally" allows you to use the power on someone who isn't on your team (which is definitely a bad idea), while "teammate" doesn't allow you to use it on a pet. Please correct me if I'm wrong about that.
Finally, the only other Mastermind T7 power which does not directly affect your pets is Gang War, and Gang War summons more pets. -
Quote:Does it give me a badge?Would you want an arc where you were the one doing the torturing? With any degree of freedom? Want aside, would you play it? I don't mean "Yeah, it'd be cool" or "it'd fit my character," but you, personally, getting to spend anything from half an hour to "as long as you can" causing pain, psychological damage and humiliation to a target? How about "You skin them alive and deliver the results, and video, to make your point?"

Quote:This, so much this."Evil" as such tends to be interpreted as your classic puppy-kicking, or baby-eating, as Bubba explains. It's the act of being mean and malicious and causing others harm as the motivation itself. "Villainy," on the other hand, is kind of in the same vein, but it's more the act of forwarding your own agenda in distinctly unethical ways. The focus of this kind of villainy isn't really to cause harm or malice so much as to help yourself while not shying away from crime and wrongdoing.
In my mind, being a villain isn't necessarily being evil. It's being PROACTIVE without regard for laws (ie: do whatever you feel it takes to achieve your goal*). Of course, an individual villain can certainly also be evil, but it's not a prerequisite.
* Some villains may be comfortable with more evil acts to achieve a goal than others. Some villains may have their own code of morals or ethics which they restrict themselves to while working towards a goal. Not all villains are necessarily willing to induce anarchy. -

Quote:My Thugs did actually run into melee. I tried to move them out of range, based on my teammates warning, but they wouldn't listen.Protean is much, MUCH worse on a melee character. Ninjas and Necros would have problems, I suspect, but Bots/Traps tore him up like no ones business. Fighting him with an MA/SR scrapper, now...that was painful...
...
But I'm pretty sure none of them got hit, anyway. None died, and I didn't notice any particular change in Protean's ability. The advantage of crazy +def for my pets
(Both +def pet auras, plus def slotting in Enforcers, plus def slotting in Shadow Fall -- of course I'm assuming Protean's power isn't autohit, but since my Thugs have high defense and Protean's power didn't seem to do much, I feel safe in that assumption)
I also fought Protean on my Tanker (Inv/SS) helping some friends having trouble with the fight on blueside, and he didn't seem like anything special there. Perhaps I'm just lucky against Protean so far.
Quote:I also rather liked how my Villain actually showed some intelligence and restraint while dealing with the teller. -
My Thugs/Dark Miasma MM got a Katana/Willpower Scrapper for a 'clone'. Despite the extremely flawed nature of my clone, it was extremely good at distracting Ajax and surviving any stray Wyvern while I destroyed the devices. My clone didn't die until just after Ajax did.
My clone wasn't particularly useful at killing Ajax, but very useful as a distraction. Perhaps Ajax didn't realize who was who! -
Quote:Villains see their doppelganger during a bank heist (but not battle), fight their doppelganger once, and then team up with a flawed version of their doppelganger against a Hero (very flawed: I'm a Thugs/Dark, my doppelganger was Katana/Willpower); that's the first arc, though I can't recall offhand the arc's name. You can acess this through new missions. I played through it last night in the Ouro. "Twisted Reflections" to battle with your Doppleganger, and there is a Part 2 ish with Dopplegangers (you do not battle) Labled "looking through the glass"? or something like that.
I am not sure the name of the arc for Red Side but everyone is raving how great it is.
The second arc ("Good Villains Never Die") has you in full control of the cloning facility; the first mission has you test out your clones and you manually select how many clones you want to battle (1 to 8, get the "Army of Me" badge for picking 8 and finishing the mission). Your scientist tells you that you'll face 3 waves, testing 3 cloning methods: wave #1 is a group of 'clones' which are actually Banished Pantheon, wave #2 is a group of 'clones' which are actually a mishmash of critters from various enemy groups (Crey, 5th Column, The Family, etc.), and wave #3 is a group of proper clones of you. The only clone you encounter after that in the arc is a dying clone while you're escaping you lab that's gone into self destruct mode.
Edit: Also, "Army of Me" has an awesome badge description --You don't understand the math behind it, but you're pretty sure you're equal to or greater than eight of yourself.
(I find this even more appropriate if you manage the badge while solo) -
I am registered, though... and they still won't show up...
-
I just want to add: If I had run Good Villains Never Die on my Mastermind at level 38 or higher (ie: Army of Dark Servants), I would have never gotten past my clones in the first mission.

Quote:Markers, too, tend to be blue or purple rather than truly black.A lot of black cloth dye is actually green (some of it is red or indigo, too, in my experience). This becomes easier to see when you try to stretch it to dye too much cloth, or don't get it to set properly. In comics, black objects are often given coloured highlights. Indeed, a number of things which are "black" technically aren't.

I had some issues going through Leonard's arc, duoing with a friend and set for x8. But I enjoy a challenge, so that wasn't a huge problem.
Once we got through a giant mess of "me"s (and since I was a Thugs MM at the time and I was doing the Army of Me badge, that was certainly a mess), and we slogged through the 5th Column and PPD Equalizers which were dropping my pets and teammate left and right (and myself only on the right). Then we got to Protean, and despite my teammates warning about Proteans buffs and the danger of taking in a Mastermind, we trounced him easily (especially so, compared to the 8-man spawns of 5th Column we had to wade through to reach him). Then we (or rather, I) ran our butts off to escape the self-destruct.
All of this was interesting (and I do quite like the map for Protean's mission), a bit challenging particularly due to the difficulty setting I was on, but not very far out of the norm for a CoV arc.
Then I reached the last mission to transfer Protean's money to my bank account. And this mission made everything I had gone through all worth it. This last mission made me feel more like a villain than anything else in CoV. This last mission makes me feel even more villainous than kicking puppies with Westin Phipps or cackling maniacally with Vernon von Grun.
I'm Made (or, considering the level range of the arc, at least a Wiseguy or Insider). The citizens of the Rogue Isles know my name, and they know what I'm capable of.
I cannot express how good it felt, when I walked into that bank, to have the security guards cower at my presence. It may be different if it were a common occurrence, but when contrasted to the normal "Kill On Sight" behavior of the PPD, this small little thing made me feel like the king of the world.
I don't particularly care about the rest of the arc; it's cool and fighting an Army of Me was exciting, but it's basically a normal CoV arc. But I want to thank whoever wrote this last mission that Leonard gives out: it really made me feel like a Villain again.
Edit: Also, while not directly written into the arc, running past my clone pleading for help as the self destruct system was counting down made me cackle a bit. I'm a Mastermind. I'm used to 'expendable', and clones of me are even more so -
