  1. I personally would love to see the Dev team host a pvp party... each hero/villain dev.. forms a league and just have a lot of fun in RV. Spawn the AVs and let the madness begin. Etc etc...

And no.. I am not a big pvper.. I just think it would be a lot of fun
  2. I am one of the NOW people..and will gladly "donate" extra money to have all the new shinies

I look at it as a way to keep the game I love so much running for even longer

Went to the movies today..cost me $20 for 2 hours of entertainment... I have no issue spending more money on something that has given me thousands of hours of entertainment the past 6 years
  3. ROFL "healer"

My Empathy/Dark DEFENDER is no healer She CAN heal, but she mitigates damage more through buffs, debuffs, and damage....

    LOL HEALER!
  4. I have contracted to design/create bases on Freedom for a few years now. Like people have said before there is no standard for how much is to be paid.

    Things to consider:
    1. How large of a base is to be designed
    2. How much detail is desired... minimalist...to massive
    3. Is there a time frame? Do you want it done in one month? two month?
    4. The skill level of the designer. This is obviously subjective and dependent on past creations as well as..
    5. The theme... For example I charge more for tech themed bases than I do arcane because I am more comfortable and feel more "free" designing in an arcane style.

I will not take a contract if asked when what they want they say "Make it look cool." Yeah that doesn't help me out in the slightest. I need to know if there is a theme to the SG...something you want specifically etc. If I am told to make it "look cool" inevitably my idea of "cool" is all of a sudden not what they wanted

I have never charged RL money to do a base. I do charge INF though because the time I am spending completing your base is time I am not playing the game. Unfortunately there is no standard; some people combine inf with other services/items. One base I did was a 2 billion inf contract with a PVP Gladiator proc as payment. One base I did was 1 billion and a PL to 50 for a toon. Some designers only charge 300-500 million but may take 3 months to finish the job. So yes there are many things to consider

My advice... know what it is you want. Interview and have an open dialogue with the designer before anything is set in stone.
  5. I found nothing wrong with Bellator's post...

I have seen MUCH worse on this forum between MANY "experienced" posters.....
He didn't use profanity.. etc etc....

You want to act a fool in public in game... Call people liars/incompetent etc etc... just like the saying goes:

Don't let your mouth get you into something your a** can't handle.

  6. I can change my set bonuses on a whim...but those show up

I agree they need to go back to how it was when Incarnates were FIRST introduced and they were in your INFO.... granted there was a bug that didn't allow set bonuses to show...but come on....

Incarnates are basically accolades...and powers.... they should show up

I think part of the issue is that they're not permanent powers - you can change (or empty) the slot, after all. Check the badges to see if it's unlocked.
  7. Prays Issue 20.5 or Issue 21 brings us something a TEAM can do. I am not into this league thing whatsoever. As of today 17 attempts at the new trials (10 BAF and 7 Lambda)...all failed. Sigh.

(just had a crazily saddening thought.... what if the next slots have yet ANOTHER currency so those who "hoard" threads can't jump into the 6,7,8,9, and 10th incarnate abilities)...oy!
  8. Yeah Good Luck with that. It's not the INFO I am lacking it is players who can follow directions, players who don't quit after one death, and in general IQ. This new stuff is overly complicated for most players. I am seriously thinking of leaving CoH. This type of grind and tediousness is just not fun. 6 hours 14 trials.. 9 Lambdas...5 BAF...not one even REMOTELY successful and in 6 hours.. 21 threads........................................... ......
  9. Here are the things that I believe will get more people using bases:

    1. Add a tailor option
    2. Add a WW/BM terminal..
    3. Add something similar to what is in RWZ (The dummies you can test your powers on)
    4. Add communication tools... a chalkboard that messages can be left on.
    5. Add a SG calendar option... like a clickable desk where SGs can organize events etc
    6. Add personal rooms that can be assigned to a global handle that has base editing capabilities/privileges.
    7. Add some of the thousands of pieces of map items we see in missions.
    8. Add a merit vendor
    9. Create 1-4 more SG TFs that require a mission computer.
    10. Add the ability to send off-line invites via email...more people would probably start their own personal SGs this way.
    11. Reduce the prestige/inf penalty even more.
    12. Have the SG costume available at the base tailor so it is a simple one click/load like we can do with our personal costumes.
    13. Make a SG Accolade (ala atlas medallion/freedom phalanx reserve).... complete a SG TF (or two) and spend x amount of time in SG mode..or something similar for the requirements.
    14. Add personal SG badges... "Earned x amount of prestige" "Took so much damage while in SG mode"... not SG badges.. personal badges.

And those are a few of my ideas
  10. Fire/TA Corruptor. Oh what fun it is to make burning messes everywhere and watch the baddies melt away LOL

She is a great team and solo toon.
  11. You can also buy the temporary jet pack in FBZ (Hero Side) and Grandville (Villain Side) for 10,000 influence. This power unlike the crafted one last for 2 hours of in game time. That is what I use on all my toons... cheaper to do that way than buy/craft the recipe.
  12. In a frenzy to create my tier 4 on one of my fav toons.. I inadvertently created a THIRD spiritual boost.. UUGH!

8 shards and a common shard gone
  13. Maybe play with better players? I have never done an MO where that was the case. The friends I do MO stuff with... we all fight..tanks, blasts, defenders etc etc. If I ever got on a MO run and they told me to doorsit... I would politely excuse myself form the TF. You either EARN the MO or you fail.... my 2 cents

  14. The way I read your post was that because of the incarnate stuff you are not getting to spend as much time with your alts/lowbies that you would like to.... which is why I said:

    That is your choice.

Achieving this already put a big crimp time allocated to leveling new alts. I19 and I20 aren't changing that, they're just extending it.

I do have an increasing desire to level some new alts, so I will get to it sometime soon. But I will now get to it less soon that I would have without the Incarnate system, because I have new progress to focus on for my existing stable of 50s.

  15. Why?

The badges are accomplishments because you accomplished something extra...
    Assistant twice...
    Backup... ten times..
    Partner..50 times....

They are there to signify something more than just doing the WSFs more than once. To me they basically mean you are a gracious person who enjoys teaming despite not getting all the little perks associated with the WSF.

  16. There is no sense in upgrading any zones.I personally felt the whole upgrade to Faultline was a waste of resources.

If you want to do stuff in Boomtown.. grab some friends and go there

I would rather the devs focus on the future of the game rather than try to pretty up the older zones.
  17. And I would like to have capes and auras on all my toons at lcl 1 but I have to wait to do BOTH missions at lvl 20 if I want them. So I grit my teeth and do it if I want it on that toon.

I would like to Katie Hannon TF on all of my toons oh.. wait.. I didn't run her arc in the appropriate level on all my toons. So sometimes I hang out in Croatoa and hope that someone will start one so I can get the badge and the hat.

7 of my 50's are tier 3 through running NORMAL every day content. No farming. No WSF. Just missions. And before you even try to say "You are a hardcore gamer." If 10-15 hours a week in game is hardcore gaming... then wow...because that is all I play.

Do I wish the next three slots were easier.. sure. Am I going to complain and complain and whine because I don't wanna do something to progress my toon. Nope. IF I run the new trials so be it. IF I get the next 3 Incarnate slots..so be it. I will continue to play my toons I like, level up toons I am interested in and IF it happens.. well yay for me. I liked my toons before all this Incarnate stuff and will like them until.. well I stop liking them or the game ends LOL! I could care less if someone sits behind their computer 12 hours a day grinding out to get their ultra rares on every incarnate slot.

I am comfortable in saying that the devs are smart enough to notice if not enough people are playing the new content...if not enough people are slotting their incarnates.. and a lot of people are constructively giving feedback AFTER this all goes live that if need be changes in drop rates etc will be made if needed.

I just think all this DOOM is ridiculously funny and after 6 years I guess should be expected whenever something changes in this game.

Or that I should grit my teeth and grind away at something that I do not enjoy in order to progress?

I am not trying to keep up with anyone. I only have 3 level 50s. Haven't had any new ones in the last year. If I were trying to keep up with the Jones' I would have at least 15 50s half of which would be purpled out with billions in Inf spilling out of their pockets.

All I would like, is to be able to progress at a reasonable pace. Something less than 5 years to gain an incarnate slot.

I thought that the Developers would learn from the past. My mistake.
Of course, they're only human like the rest of us. *

Unfortunately, the character progression after level 50, or the Incarnate stuff, is not casual friendly. Which tells me that the end game is not designed for the casual gamer, but for the hardcore gamer.

    * I have a great deal of respect for the Developers.
I just disagree with the new path they seem to be taking the game now.
Yes, this is a new path.
  18. So your issue is you don't feel cool? Ahh I see.

That in no way is your... perception (sarcasm)

If you want all the bells and whistles you are going to have to make a choice of what you do in game just like everyone else does

But it depends on how much cooler the Jones' (???) are. As long as they are just a few % better than your basic-IO'd level 50 like it was before (please don't start "But SO's...". All basic level 50 IOs sell for very few hundred K if you can wait, and you make way more than enough money on the way to 50 to afford filling all your slots with them. And whenever I try to sell an SO I found they sell for spit and have 0 bidding. So please. You reach level 50 in no time these days and I don't know anybody who uses SOs then anymore. (And if someone complains the prices at the market are WAY too high but they never sell anything for those high prices and now can't afford IOs I can't help them.)) it doesn't hurt much to just go without that and split your time among several characters.
If it DOES make a LOT of a difference, like extra levels, let alone ones you cannot be sidekicked to, and what else I20 may bring, and suddenly everyone is twice as cool as you if you don't move along, then playing a lot of characters can become a lot less fun.
  19. If CONTENT is your issue there is a nice little thing in the game that will allow you to experience all the content you want by...disabling your xp.

I had assumed that this Gift of XP was put there to rocket more toons to 50 faster. And I was saying, in my previous post, that I thought this wasn't a great idea.
I can get to from 41 to 50 in only 3 1 hour TFs - is that WAI?

With Incarnate activity available, characters that reach 50 are even less likely to go back and try the 40-50 content they may have rocketed by, because of this "XP Gift".
  20. Which is... your choice

I've said many times before - if I have a 50 at all, it's because I really like playing it. I refuse to PL stuff. I play it from 1-50 through mission content, and I mostly solo while doing so. (I start teaming again once I'm 45+.) That means I don't have anything that's 50 that I didn't really enjoy, because the way I level stuff means that if I didn't enjoy it, I would have stopped long before I got to 50.

As a result, I already spent a lot of time outfitting my existing 50s, and I played them to get them the resources to outfit themselves. All of my 50s are heavily IOd, equipped with things like purples and the occasional PvPIO. As of yesterday, all 10 have a Very Rare Alpha slotted. Achieving this already put a big crimp time allocated to leveling new alts. I19 and I20 aren't changing that, they're just extending it.

  21. Your hasten is basically perma with one siphon speed.

Just to nitpick I would take out the Generic Defense IO in weave and put the Defense IO from LOTG for the set bonus btw.
  22. ANYONE can participate in the end game... the problem is people want the rewards NOW. It's exhausting to repeat this over and over.. your PERCEPTION of how fast you get rewards is your perception. your DESIRE to have it quicker... is a self inflicted frustration. How about adopting the attitude that you will play the game and enjoy your toons.. and when IT (It being incarnate rewards) happens..it happens.

And one more time: NO ONE is making you do incarnate stuff to enjoy your toons. If you have enjoyed them for the past 6+ years what has changed.. oh yeah.. your desire to be UBER/LEET/etc... Keeping up with the Jones' is always a frustrating race in ANYTHING you do in life (even in a casual game).

    Twisted Toon

This, What is the use of having a end game that few can participate in?
  23. PLing to me is standing at the door during a repeated mish over and over. If you join my ITF and you think you are going to stand at the door you are sorely mistaken

And the WSF only gives the double end bonus once per toon (if that is your reference). That is the only difference between a WSF and any other TF. I know a lot of people who ran ITF after ITF to get from 35+ to 50 quicker. But those people also.. actively fight/kill/die etc....

I had a lvl 41 character at the start of the weekly task force. After running 3 TFs (each about an hour), I am now lvl 50. 41-50 with just 3 hours play. Just like some of the XPloits in the AE or the Winterlord fiasco, I do not think that super-charging the path through the 40s is the right move.

I have no problem with a reasonable XP bonus, but what we are getting is not reasonable. Couple this with the fact that said lower-level toon is probably running the TF with one or more super-charged Alpha characters and you basically have company sanctioned power-leveling.
  24. Or maybe they realize that most players are not smart enough to switch from one primary to another without playing it...

    Sonic Defender becoming a rad...
    Stone Tanker becoming Dark
    Illusion Controller becoming a Fire

    etc
    etc
    etc
    etc

No thanks I don't need a new NrG blaster who doesn't understand how to play his toon because he switched from Fire.

    /unsigned
  25. So again this is your perception of keeping up with the Jones'.

If I want levels, shineys, etc... I have to earn them. I mean hello I would love all my toons to be 50 in less than a week, with at least 500 easily earned badges, and purple drops galore so I can twink my build out. But you know what... I have to grind for the badges, the influence, and sometimes it feels the xp.

Level "51" should not be easy to earn. It should be harder than any other level. It should take longer than 49-50.

And your perception that it is a must have on most/all of your toons is your perception. Many people still use SOs on their toons and are quite happy with those toons. Now me... I like sets set sets, but that is a criteria for completion I have set for myself on my toons...it is not required to go whoop booty.

The ONLY things requiring an Alpha slot are the two.. Incarnate TFs (Apex and Tin Mage).. and as I said before prerequisites for certain content in this game have a precedent.

Stop thinking you HAVE to get the new stuff NOW... and if you CHOOSE to try and get it on all your 50's that is a self-imposed burden you are placing on yourself. no one is forcing the incarnate content on you.... plain and simple.

My point is NOT that it is time consuming, but that it is such a big boost that it is quite a must have.

If it took half a year, and the reward was a shiny badge and a 5% bonus to an enhancement category of your choice, I think noone here would be worried. (And a lot of people would still happily work to get it! Myself included!)

But it's not. It is effectively one more level with the Level Shift, plus the bonus from the Alpha slot, plus more rewards because you can now defeat stuff as if you were 51 and get rewards as if you were 50.
Thus everyone that doesn't want to roleplay being not that super, and get less rewards all the time, will want to have it on their character.
And if the future brings more like this, the must-have-ity of it will even increase.
