  1. Cool, much much better. One other small suggestion, link to the site in your sig through the graphic or a text link.
  2. Suggestion here and GEL hinted at it -- the colors are pretty bad. Red on black is too harsh to look at and then wheh you highlight in red on the forums it compounds this.

My sugestion wouild be use white text on a black or grey background. For highlights use a quiet blue.

    Good luck with this.

    Support tickets

Don't submit another ticket, just update your current one.

PM Arbiter Kim I guess to escalate but depending on the issue it could take a couple of days.

    Spring Cleaning!

You're more than welcome to gobble up Harry Balls and/or Enormous Genitals. They were genericed when under my care.

Use at your own risk! And try to grab 'em before Night's Dawn does. That guy's an animal.
  5. Similar reason why you get higher fps when staring directly at a wall or your FPS goes up when there's a loading screen.

It has always been this way.
  6. Because it has focus. Any applicaiton that's given focus has higher priority and takes more resources.

Granted I think i17 is taking up more CPU than before even with UM off but applications that have focus always have a higher priority and take up more resources.
  7. I don't understand the Hail of Bullets +defense thing if you hit at least 1 enemy. This should open the door to giving the same bonus to other rain type powers or potentially more than that. It just doesn't make sense just to give it to this one power. And they're not just giving it defense against the enemies you hit, it's against all enemies.

    *shrug*
  8. I have a Samsung 245BW and I've been happy with it since I've gotten it a year or two ago. I've owned a couple of Acers and they're pieces of ****.

So Samsung 245BW is my recommendation.

  10. Maybe they can also rollback the BotZ nerf so I don't have to use the market after respeccing most of my toons.

I am so afraid to use the market or email anything to myself.

    Logging

Not that I know of. What I suggest is just run a pinger. It sounds like this should be reproducible out of game.

ping -t www.yahoo.com or there are utilities that'll do a ping and log connection issues.
  12. I was expecting:

    1. Go to Control Panel
    2. Go to Programs and Features
    3. Uninstall City of Heroes
    4. Open up Windows Explorer
    5. Navigate to the c:\program files\city of heroes folder
    6. Delete everything

Luminous, what would be useful if we knew your system details as well as the symptoms you suffered. Your fix won't work for everyone.
  13. Known-ish issue. You need to exit the game completely then start it up again and log back in. Rumor is it has to do with "spamming" the market.

And no, I'm not running Ultra Mode, in fact I'm lowered gfx settings way below that I had in i16. It didn't help.

Something that devs introduced or changed in i17 demands much more CPU. If it is related to Ultra Mode, then their claim that Ultra Mode wouldn't affect players who aren't using it is false, and they should come clean about this. If something else causes higher CPU utilization, then we need ability to turn it off, or minimum (or not so minimum) system requirements should be changed.

In any event, i'm strongly suspect that multiple reports we seeing regarding lag, mapserve, ventrilo and Skype problems are related to 100 or near 100% CPU utilization caused by i17.
This is true! Amen brother Nordblast! Amen! I was surprised to find 100% CPU and after closing everything I no longer had delay when keying up in vent. I can't dual box reliably anymore on a dual core 2.8ghz, 4gb RAM system and I can no longer stream music.

It is undoubtedly using more CPU than i16.

I'd have to dig into check in notes to see) asking me if they could update it to include AT Mods in the damage scales and saying yes.

Hmm...yeah, ok. I can very easily see what happened here.

Shield Charge when released was set for a scale 1.7 damage to all targets within 20' of impact, with 0.7 scale bonus within 3' of impact. When the change to allow AT scaling was made, the bonus damage was rolled into the overall damage, for a scale of 2.4 to all targets in a 20' radius. At the same time, instead of have Brutes getting a mod of 0.75 applied, they were treated as the base.

    So, instead of:
    Brutes 3' scale 1.8, 20' scale 1.275
    Tankers 3' scale 2.04, 20' 1.445
    Scrappers 3' scale 2.7, 20' scale 1.9125

    We get:
    Brute 20' scale 2.4
    Tanker 20' scale 2.712
    Scrapper 20' scale 3.6

    That REALLY sucks.
What REALLY sucks is that you'll change it a year or 2 from now and we'll all be like "why?" and you'll all be like "it was overpowered".

    Crashing

It could be some program that's polling for updates. Time it to see if it happens exactly at 5 minute intervals. Run a malware scan, check your running programs and services.

You can run msconfig and disable all non MS services and startup programs, reboot then try again.
  17. I'm afraid to use the market and email system until they fix this piece of ****.
  18. The game is using more CPU than before even with UM settings disabled. I confirmed this tonight. There should be no regressions here.

I have a dual core 2.6ghz and I'm usually running around 90% CPU. If I try to listen to music (XM radio via Firefox) I hit 100% and all hell breaks loose. So now when I play I just have the game running, nothing else.

Prior to this version of the game I was able to dual box and listen to music without any issues.
  19. Post a CohHelper and HijackThis. Upgrade your ATI drivers. Check for the ATI Poller service and disable it.

If you look at some of the other threads in this forum you'll see what others have done and their fixes.

    Stutter step

Much much better! I'm such an idiot. I had the 10.3 drivers downloaded earlier this month after I bought the card but I guess I never installed 'em.

    me=schmuck

I bumped up my graphics settings again disabling AO and DOF and it's a beautiful thing!
  21. FitzSimmons

    Stutter step

Weird, I'm going to try and upgrade the drivers. I could've swore I had 10.3.

Downloading 10.4 and will give it a shot tomorrow.
  22. FitzSimmons

    Stutter step

My demons stutter step. So do other toons. Right now I've removed all non microsoft services and programs from starting up, done a malware and antivirus scan, defragged and lowered some COH settings like World Detail, Character Detail, etc.

I think my computer should be able to handle max settings with AO and DOF off but it can't.

Even with the reduced settings and minimal startup I have this issue.

Here are the COHHelper and HijackThis logs.

    Thanks.

    Audio Stuttering

Sound stuttering can be a symptom of lag or other performance issues. Run msconfig, disable all of the non microsoft services and startup programs then reboot. If it works well then just start reenabling stuff until you find your happy place.

Also run a malware scan, update the drivers, etc.

For addititional help you may want to post a hijackthis and cohhelper.

    Lefty or Righty

Both. I write, throw, punch and eat with my left hand. However golf, tennis and baseball is all on the right side.

I can't swing a racket left handed and I can't throw right handed. It's weird. I'm weird. I'm REALLY weird.

    I also ******* right handed.
  25. Well some good news on all these resurfacing bugs -- they should know how to fix 'em pretty quickly.
