Only going to talk about the Socket 1155 CPUs here. I'm ignoring the much more expensive Socket 2011 CPUs.
Actually, i5 does have an integrated memory controller, dual channel just like the i7. Even the ones before the current Sandy Bridge line.
The difference, besides the price between the i7-2600K and the i5-2500K is hyperthreading and 8MB of Level 3 cache instead of only 6MB and an extra 100MHz to the base clock speed. All that for only 50% more money.
Unless you run one of the thread happy applications that review sites like to benchmark with to show the difference between the two, such as video compression or ray trace rendering, then you really don't lose much choosing the i5-2500 over the i7-2600. -
I too blame Amazon. Traditionally what Amazon calls a Wishlist is normally called a Registry, a list of items you would want others to buy for you as well as to coordinate purchases so you won't get three of the same thing when you only asked for one.

Cut the kid some slack. I think nobody has condensed the answers in one post and lets face it the premium reward system can be a little confusing.
You can buy Paragon Points from the NCSoft online store, sorry they don't have point cards like other games yet you can buy in a store like Target, BestBuy, 7-11, etc. $5 will get you 400PP, $15 - 1320PP, $50 - 4600 and $100 - 9600PP.
Now for every 1200PP you buy (points you get from subscribing doesn't count) or every month you are subscribed, you get a Paragon Reward Token. They are used to progress up the premium tiers plus grant you various costume pieces and consumable goodies like respecs and free costume changes. You need to be Tier 5, that's 13 tokens, to unlock Masterminds and Controllers as a non-subscriber or you can unlock those for 1200PP each through the Paragon Market.
So your choices are subscribe for a year to unlock Tier 5 (you should have 2 Tokens I think, one for going VIP and one for your first month) or buy 1200 Paragon Points through the NCSoft online store and buy the Mastermind Unlock through the Paragon Market. You could also subscribe for only 3 more months and if you save up the 400PP every month you get for that time to get the 1200PP to unlock Masterminds.
So to summarize:
You can buy a year (14 months until the end of the year) for a bit less than $150; or you can buy the $15 Points package and get 1320PP and buy the Mastermind Unlock; or subscribe for a few more months and hoard your Points stipend of 400PP per month until you have enough to buy the Mastermind Unlock. -
Well you were asking "what you were missing?" about this card. If I was in a more jovial spirit I would have said 1/2 the ROP units and 1/6th of the shader cores but that's rather meaningless to the average Joe.
It's a fine card, faster than the GTX 550Ti, helluva lot faster than the HD 6450 and is better than 1/2 the speed of the top end HD 6970 for much less than 1/3 the price (sidenote, it annoys me that major review sites have $300 cards listed as "mainstream" and below $200 as "low end", this card more "mainstream" in my eyes). -
The HD 6790 is an odd duck. It's a significantly cut down HD 6870/6850 that is only minimally faster (~10-15%) than the HD 6770 but was significantly more expensive (+$30) and uses significantly more power (+40 watts). The up side is while the HD 6770 is simply a renamed HD 5770, the HD 6790 is actually a 6000 series GPU.
The price difference between the HD 6790 and the HD 6850 was small enough so people simply dug through the couch cushions and visited a Coinstar machine and bought the HD 6850.
Looking at NewEgg, they have some post rebate HD 6850s for around $130. -
Yes, how "Heroes" of them to not show the big fight.
<spoilers>
Well Skye gets Josh in the end.
Solution was a bit harsh. After getting a Dino to eat all the primary investors should have thrown a spanner in the works for a bit but that was an unforeseen benefit.
Myra is pissed since she can't get back to her daughter.
If you are going to shoot someone, make sure that they can't get back up right away. Taylor's son should have been named Jason, not Lucas.
Score one for Doctor Mom.
Then there's the "twist". I'm going to guess that the like some wormholes in Star Trek, the time rift isn't actually fixed at either end naturally and the one in "present day" Earth was captured and fixed at Hope Plaza. Before that it wandered about the surface of the planet periodically slurping down stuff and most of it ended up in the Badlands. The 6ers and the remnants of the Phoenix Group are heading there hoping that they could somehow find the end in this time period and phone home for help.
As for how I feel if it ended right now. A lot better than Journeyman since this actually had sort of an ending instead of a midseason cancellation. -

Once the launcher is running click on the City of Heroes button under Uninstalled Games and you should get a large button in the lower left of the launcher that says Install Game.
-
The game is essentially doing what "Repair" does on the updater, calculate all the checksums (or hashes) to verify the game. Note doing a "Repair" from the updater DOESN'T prevent this from happening but deleting the patch file before running the game (but after the update is done) does avoid it.

Superman's daughter is going to have a really hard time dating boys due to the fact they would be scared of her dad.
Wonder Woman's son is going to have an entire island of "aunts" who hate men while at the same time all his male friends in school want to spend all their free time over to his house to ogle his mom.
I don't think either would end up enjoying High School. -
Quote:Amaenaide yo!! and it's sequel Amaenaide yo!! Katsu!! are silly harem series. I watched them a few years back when a friend loaned me his digisubs (he's more of the harem/magical girl/psycho lolli fanboy than I am).Started in on Ah My Buddha. Fairly typical harem/fanservice/comedy show, but definitely had some laughs in there so far.
They really nothing to write home about. -
Pure Awesomeness!!
No really, pure awesomeness.
Well you do have to be somewhat familiar with either The Middleman comic books or the short run TV series that was on ABC Family the summer of 2008. It is full of geek trivia and inside jokes. -

Tomorrow's excuse will be ...
the entire web team took the day off to Christmas shop;
the entire web team took the day off to play paintball;
they thought GMT stood for Ganymede Time;
got confused over the date format so scheduled to do the update on the 12th day of the 16th month;
it's half off free internet access at Starbucks;
they all caught the midnight showing of the new Sherlock Holmes movie and slept in;
they left to catch the first matinee of the new Chipmunks movie;
they forgot the admin password to the forum (I swore I wrote it on a sticky note somewhere). -
I've always looked at it as Beta is what is coming out in a month or two while Test is what's coming out in a week or two.
Both require testing. In Beta it's more along the line of "does this new feature work right" while Test it's more like "does anything you do normally now on live break this release badly because we are planning on pushing this to live next week". -
Also there is normally a several day gap between the build and when it's pushed live. For instance Tuesday's patch, Dec 13th, was built on Dec 1, 2011. That patched the version that was built on Nov 17th but pushed to live on the Dec 5th.
And while this fix was rushed (dated Dec 14th, pushed to live today) it fixes the limited time annual event. I would expect another patch next Tuesday to hopefully address the tray reset. -
A fair chunk of the memory Win 7 allocated is for disk caching and anticipatory pre-fetch of software it expects you to run based on previous experience. All of that will be freed in a flash if an active app needs it.
If you think your amount of memory is a problem, take a look at the task manager performance tab before you power down your PC and look at the peak commit charge and compare that to your total physical memory. If the peak commit is significantly higher than your total physical, then you should buy more memory.
But then again, DDR3 memory is currently dirt cheap ($5-10 a GB) so why the heck not buy more if you have the cash. -
I always liked the fact that a good number of films have only been limited release so they could qualify and that a good number of the TV shows aren't on the broadcast networks but are on pay channels.
Tattoo isn't out until next Wednesday, Warhorse even later and I don't see Iron Lady scheduled for this year (but I'm sure it'll be in released in the requisite number of cities before New Year to qualify for the Oscars). -
While NCSoft/Paragon Studios wants to use the CCG angle I think of them to be like Gashapon figures or toys. If you've been to comics or anime cons you can find them "loose" and get the ones you want but it's normally a vending product.
The closest thing we have here in my area are mixed with the candy machines on the way out of the local supermarket. Spend a quarter or two to get one of a dozen or so temp tattoos, blingy keychains/cell phone straps, gross out fake eyes or bugs, etc.
Now it may just be me but I don't consider that gambling per se because you always get something. It may not be what you want but you did get something for your money. -

Good luck on all your future endeavors.
Have a safe flight.
And don't ride in anything with a Capissen 38 engine, they fall right out of the sky. -
Quote:I agree with SuperOz about the son does bad episode.I don't think it'll get renewed. I had a vested interest in the show; it's filmed in my home state of Queensland here in Australia, and I recognized a number of Aussie actors in lead roles. And the location is fantastic, up near rainforest country.
But like the show it was paired with out here, Ringers, it continued to fall flat every other week whilst forgetting there was a big sub-plot about a war to control the future from the past. We kept getting wet melodrama with the teens (Spielberg was producer on this; was his mandate 'family programming at all costs, let's get the Twilight market?'), only occasional thought about just how tough it would be to live in this era of history and barely enough conflict to keep the show running.
The only plot with the son betraying not only his family but potentially the colony for his girlfriend was a damp squib, being written off as 'oh, just don't lie again son, it's alright' after a build of tension.
The dinosaur era is dangerous, tense, survival territory stuff. Not 'family drama, isn't it great to live in an unpolluted Pand...I mean, Earth' business.

Nobody is ever the "bad guy".
Little girl whose steals the box, brother was held hostage.
Son steals all the miracle drugs except one bottle. Well he brought back some valuable intelligence that the 6ers have 2 way communications (as an aside, why didn't they just phone home with the solutions instead of Taylor's son needing to go back). Son gets grounded between work details because it was all about a girl.
Skye is the mole. But again with the blackmail angle, 6ers have her Mom and is keeping her alive. So they rescued her Mom and all is forgiven.
Even Boylan, yes he's Quark, but other than trading with the 6ers and sort of blackmailing Taylor to stay open, again not bad. Same with Trader Joe in the market (don't remember his name), again not bad.
Mira may be the leader of the 6ers but all she really wants is to go home to her daughter in 2149. She's ticked at Taylor since his side won the mutiny/civil war the 6ers tried and because of that she's stuck there.
They saved up all the bad and poured it into Taylor's son and the powers behind the 6ers.
I'm betting Taylor and company will blow up the destination gate. I'm betting that without the fix point back in time that the two way calculations will no longer work. And they will probably do it after sending a few of the proto-raptor dinos forward to greet the 2nd wave of troops. -
Don't worry, it'll only play art houses in liberal arts college towns (and Hollywood) so it's safe to say the general public won't have a chance to see it and start to expect originality again.

Father Daughter Time sounds to much like someone lifted the Big Daddy/Hit Girl dynamic and built a Farley Brothers style movie around it.
