I checked in my Dx Diag and they were reporting the correct date...Win7 presumably just downloaded the default drivers on install, I had no control over that one. But thanks.
Hm. Win7 seems to be controlling my driver downloads. I'm still negotiating my way around it (don't like how i have to set 'Run as Admin' for seemingly everything), so should I just be doing a search for current Realtek/ATI drivers?
Update: ARGH! Every time I try and update to 11.9, the stupid Install Manager pushes it back to the 8 drivers! How do I get around this?

- Start Button
- In the search box type Windows Updates.
- Down the left-hand side, click Change Settings.
- Reboot into Safe Mode.
- Control Panel
- Programs
- Uninstall a program
- Strip out any ATI drivers.
- Run a driver cleaner
- Since you're on ATI, you'll want to decide whether to install something like the 11.3 drivers (the ones people seem to have had the fewest problems with). or the 11.11 (the very latest).
- Also (not sure if ATI has it since I haven't touched ATI in years), if it gives an option for a "clean" install, take it.
- Reboot and turn Windows Updates back on.
Incidentally, the driver dates will continue to show up as bad (ie yellow) in the CoH helper results even if they are correct. This is because the program looks for the dates to be in the American standard format of Month-Day-Year rather than the Euro and Australian format of Day-Month-Year.
In checking the validity of drivers from any country that uses the d-m-y format you have to look only at the driver numbers.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
Ugh, not 11.11
11.9
Turn off Windows Updates.

If it had been only the graphic drivers reporting the funky date, you'd be correct. When the sound driver date is also in that format, it's usually due to using a different date format.
Knowing SuperOz's location (both from name, post history, and the Location field under the forum name) tells me that's what's going on here, not a problem with the drivers.
From looking at the driver version, I know it isn't the 11.9 drivers since that lists as Version 8.892.0.0 so I would recommend updating to the 11.9 drivers.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
Not necessarily. SuperOz is in Australia so is using a date format on the computer that is not in the MM/DD/YYYY format.

Too late! It is done, muahhahahahahaha.
Okay, updated to 11.9 and fixed up my audio. Haven't had a chance to get in-game and see how she plays...will update you. Thanks in advance though, guys.

Promised I'd report back in on this one. Two things.
1) 11.9 is heaven on a stick. Makes the game run SO much more smoothly, it's unbelievable. Consider this my user recommendation.
2) Win7 is a resource hog. Out of the four gig I have installed, nearly half it is used up just running Win7. Which leaves me with two gig to run the game and anything else I might have going, which starts running my available resources down. Naturally enough, more RAM is on my shopping list. 8 should tide me over.

Win7 64-Bit. Yeah.
http://www.crucial.com/store/listpar...5-UD3R&Cat=RAM
You can put 16GB onto the machine. It'd cost you about $120 (US or Austrialian, the difference is neglgible), plus whatever the shipping is (normally Crucial is free shipping US, $25 for shipping to Oz).
Also, how many sticks of memory do you have in there right now?
If you're 4GB (2GBx2), $60 for an 8GB (4GBx2) upgrade would bring you to 12GB.
If you're 4GB (1GBx4) it's not such a hot option (but would bring you up to 10GB).
A fair chunk of the memory Win 7 allocated is for disk caching and anticipatory pre-fetch of software it expects you to run based on previous experience. All of that will be freed in a flash if an active app needs it.
If you think your amount of memory is a problem, take a look at the task manager performance tab before you power down your PC and look at the peak commit charge and compare that to your total physical memory. If the peak commit is significantly higher than your total physical, then you should buy more memory.
But then again, DDR3 memory is currently dirt cheap ($5-10 a GB) so why the heck not buy more if you have the cash.

Glad to see you've got things running pretty well now SuperOz. Those 11.9 drivers resolve several people's problems.

First up, I am on a 2x2 setup and I clearly need more, and thankfully Win7 allows me to put a bit of oomph into things. Thanks to a wholesaler out here called MSY, I can get a 2X4 set for less than fifty bucks. No, they're not under the table dealers either. Just a wholesaler for parts. 10 gig will knock it out of the park.
And thanks, Texas. I is a happy camper again.

Hi all. This seems like it's a post-patch issue given that a lot of people are reporting errors in game at the moment, but I've had a number of little things, such as:
Costume parts not showing or invisible
Menu boxes displaying garbled or no text
Geometry in game not displaying
Large slowdown of framerate
High RAM usage
At one stage today, with my machine having 4gig of RAM (I realise I should have more using Win7, 64-bit) I was using up to 85% of the available RAM. Never had it that high with CoH before. CoH Helper and HiJack This info to follow.
I should say that upon closing and restarting the game, all of these issues went away, which was suggesting a memory leak more than anything else.
