  1. Dang it.

    66 is way too young.
  2. Well in the Air Force they dangle (well back in my day) Captain in front of ROTC grads to encourage them to reup after their commitment is up (unless you are a Pilot or Navigator).
  3. I'm wondering if the faux pas of not posting the downtime had to do with the hand over from Beastyle to Hit Streak.

Then why get a K class i5 if you are just going to stick it on an H67 motherboard? The H67 doesn't allow you to tweak the multiplier beyond +4, unlike the P67 or Z68.
  7. For those unfamiliar with the sport, let me present caber tossing.
  8. ... and pay, at least in my area, a $3.50 surcharge for the privilege to see it in 3D (and please return the glasses).
  9. Yep, the 1.5GB Caviar Black gets no love, therefore they still have a supply of them.

    750GB - $170
    500GB - $180
    1.5TB - $180
    1 TB - $200
    2 TB - $250
  10. Don't worry, next week's preview has Daryl playing the interrogator.
  11. I applaud VKhaun for cleverly turning this thread into yet another "merge to servers" thread.
  12. No, I thought converters would allow you to turn one ATO into another.
  13. Two questions.

    1) Why the low voltage RAM? Just curious.

    2) Why the GTX 460 and not something more powerful? I'm assuming it's budget reasons but the GTX 460 is sort of near it's End of Life as a product. I doubt you will be able to find a second one in six to twelve months. Also that particular GTX 460, well any with a 192-bit memory bus, is inferior to one with a 256-bit memory bus. Try this one. Yes it's not uber-overclocked but yours is a GTX 460 with one of its four memory channels deactivated. Eew.
  14. I would love to see the article where Pixar says that Cars 2 was simply a money grab for their new Disney masters.

I think there are two things that drive the hatred of all things Cars here. First is the hatred among some of all things car racing especially NASCAR. Second that the first non-Toy Story sequel was Cars and not The Incredibles.

I thought that Cars was a good Pixar film. Yes it's an remake of Doc Hollywood and it's ilk but with anthropomorphic cars but it still was a fine film. And you want a Pixar film with no chance of merchandizing, try Ratatouille, at least with Up you could have Kevin plushies.

Can't wait to see the hate for the Monsters, Inc. prequel.
  15. Well ED isn't really a glass ceiling, more like a plastic wrap ceiling the you can still stretch a bit.
  16. Well hopefully this one will last longer than ... Oh hi there, welcome.

  17. Good luck and hope to see you on the servers sometime.
  18. I'm worried I'm going to need subtitles. Billy Connolly's (the King) line after Merida's line about caber tossing (0:43 mark or so) is unintelligible to me even after cranking the volume up and listening to it a half a dozen times. All I can make out is "Or xxxxx bridges".
  19. I know, it just opens the flood gates of speculation that would eventually lead to disappointment when casting is finally announced and fans become upset that they didn't cast anyone to play X or Y so the film is an automatic fail.
  20. And this is exactly why these live-action adaptations fail, too many fan favorite characters that have to be in the movie played by actors who don't want 10 line cameos for the amount that the budget could afford.

I agree any Bleach movie to work, at most it goes up to the point where Rukia is taken. Trying to wedge in the rescue, all the captains and lieutenants, the Aizen betrayal, the soul reaper training, the Yoruichi is actually a hot babe, etc just won't fit in a single movie. Make a simple, good, first movie and then hope it does well enough for a sequel or risk getting another The Last Airbender.

    I can go either way..
Is there a reason you are looking at the H80 rather than the H100?

Not that I'm advocating you building a "Tim Taylor Special 500 HP garbage disposal" or anything.
Just curious what spurred the choice for that specific unit.

Budget won't stretch the $15 differential?
Just trying for a "middle way" between the H60 and the H100?
Don't wanna hassle with a radiator that big?
Anandtech review of H60/H80/H100 for a side by side comparison of the H80 and H100.

Hardware Secrets chart (bottom of page) shows the temperature delta of various heatsinks when cooling an overclocked i7-860. However this is a mild overclock.

NewEgg has the Hyper 212 Evo for $35, the H80 for $92 (on sale) and the H100 for $105 (on sale after rebate). The H80 really replaces the rear case fan with the radiator/fans while the H100 radiator leaves the rear case fan alone and would be mounted in the top of the 500R. I guess in the case of the H80 you could always move the rear case fan to one of the two upper mounts.

I do know that there's a limit to how much heat the Hyper 212 Evo can dissipate. It does well enough for mid level overclocking but if you really want to push it then the H100 does the job of CPU cooling a lot better.

While I'm personally not a fan of liquid cooling but I can understand why it's attractive. However having another point of failure or two (the pump dieing or springing a leak) concerns me since I leave my system on 24/7 (BOINC) even while I'm away on business.

Yes but "tomgirl princess decides to accept the status quo and conform to her patriarchal society" while unexpected, wouldn't really pack the theaters beyond opening weekend.
  23. A couple of years ago I posted this describing assembling a system based on my $1200 parts list at the time. It's hardly a detail oriented guide but it does include a pair of links at the end to other "how to assemble your system" guides.
  24. Honestly Hyper, going from a GT 520 or 9500GT to a GTX 550Ti wouldn't be much of an improvement? "Whatcha talkin bout Willis", it's not like he's running a single core Pentium 4 and he's only running at 1024x768 as well.

As for the PSU, well it is listed as 30 Amps at 12 volts, assuming they aren't lying about it it's reasonably big enough for the cards in his price range. Still off brand doesn't give me the warm fuzzies but with his budget I don't envision a PSU transplant and a video card.

I PMed him last night about this and totally forgot to mention the AMD "driver roulette" problem, but I figured he was an nVidia man anyways.
