My Final Build for new PC !!!
Two questions.
1) Why the low voltage RAM? Just curious.
2) Why the GTX 460 and not something more powerful? I'm assuming it's budget reasons but the GTX 460 is sort of near it's End of Life as a product. I doubt you will be able to find a second one in six to twelve months. Also that particular GTX 460, well any with a 192-bit memory bus, is inferior to one with a 256-bit memory bus. Try this one. Yes it's not uber-overclocked but yours is a GTX 460 with one of its four memory channels deactivated. Eew.

What is your recommendation for RAM ?? im looking for 8 gigs..
I went with the 460 because i figured it fits within a budget and will be WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than anything I can run now.. keep in mind the only thing I play on PC is CoH and strategy games.. im not doing BF3 or CoD on my PC.. I have an Xbox for that...

I want to warn you because I have a 460 and I'm running into an overheating issue making my PC reset with CoH. Googled around and keep reading things (including on CoH forums) about the way NVidia software works doesn't recognize openGL as a need to compensate for the load the card is under.

Because I've heard good things about it from various people, and this article.

Heh, no need to overclock a 2500K if your GPU is any 460, unless you're @folding(CPU waiting on the GPU even SLI\Crossfire). Take your wish list to Microcenter and let them shoot you a price for something comparable (do your homework with what they offer).
Microcenter still sells the 2500K @$179 last I checked. (screw the 2550K)
If you at some point want to overclock and SLI/Crossfire you'd better dump the HX650 for something better.
You could get a very nice case for $50 less than your pick, unless you have your heart set on it. Having more to spend on a Ti560.
People will say 8 gigs is plenty of memory as of now, and for the most part they're right. I like the fact (I have 16 gigs on both of my systems)I never worry about my SSD needing a page file!
Screw the 500 gig and get the biggest SSD for your money or upgrade your PSU and GPU!
A comment on the AMD 6870 - I'm running it now with the 12.1 drivers and I'm having no issues at this point. Everything is maxed out!
@MARTy McFly
Interesting choices. I don't like the 500 GB WD when the 1.5TB with larger cache is the same price.
6870 is probably a better choice or the 560 Ti
The 460 is near EoL and is not worth it compared to the other choices it will also make getting a 2nd video card for SLI even harder. You also picked the worse 192 bit 460 instead of the 256 bit version.
OTOH, if you are not going SLI to start with, then I would say its best to not bother going SLI at all.

Yep, the 1.5GB Caviar Black gets no love, therefore they still have a supply of them.

Ill take a lot of this into consideration... thanks guys.. again this is my first build ever and thats why I am asking these questions..
I was @ Microcenter this weekend and they are having some big sales. I like that case so thats what I am going to go with and it works perfect with the H100. I didnt see the 1.5TB Harddrive and for the same price thats a no brainer.
I will be shopping prices before I buy.. New Egg just is convenient to look at everything. Ill shop Neww Egg. Microcenter and Amazon to get the best pricing I can find. Ill buy as much as I can from Microcenter since there is an actual store near me.
I will look at the video cards once again. I might go to a better power supply.
Again a lot of my reasoning is based on the fact I am running an almost 9 year old machine now so anything I get now will be WAY better and one of the reasons I want to build is because I can always upgrade it myself better, because i know whats going on..

You might have a look at this card, $109 after rebate. Just check that it will fit in the case. Less processing cores, but for your needs might be fine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121435
The GTX 460 MSI cyclone, I run has been good for most games, but if you can get a more recent card, for about the same cash or less, why not?
Also consider if the card will exhaust out the back or not. That is one regret of my choice.
i would wait and hold off till april 15 or so if your on a budget. nvidia new gpu are going to be coming out at the same time Intel launches ivy bridge. with the launch of the new cpu from intel will be there 6xx line of chipset for the micro and mid priced gamer. toms hardware right now on the new ati cards are saying ati has done what ati has set out to do make a faster video card then nvidia and have it use less power. some of the leaked specks on keplar say it going to be a 300w card and need a six and a eight pin header. not to power friendly if you just using two cards for sli. also one word of caution not all intel or 3 party sata controlers are sata 6gb controlers. read up on the chipset and any bugs out there. you dont want that new ssd to not run at it max speed or end up having issues with it and the controler..ie not see at ever power up or other bugs.
The problem with playing the waiting game is that delays happen. With the Bulldozer being a "disappointment" means Intel has no pressure to be on time with Ivy Bridge.
Nvidia might be late with their stuff as well.
MSI stuff tends to have a shorter lifespan but then again after 3 years the video card is going to need replacing anyways.

I think ive pretty much decided not to bother with SLI, again i dont run a lot of stuff on my PC.. pretty much just CoH and RTS strategy games. Thats it..
I will look at a better video card but I dont need the latest and greatest top of the line... id rather get a very good card that plays everything i am playing now better and save a little coin as I am over budget as it is.. I dont think I will need the latest thing from ATI or Nvidia.
Im coming off a pentium 2 with an ATI 9600XT video card and 1.5 megs of ram with a 130 gig hardrive..
This will be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than anything I have ever owned.

if your looking for a build that a balance of both power and money then look to and i-5 cpu and h67 mb. for raw cpu power the i-5 desktop cpu are not much slower then the i-7 with coh and other online games there not cpu or video card hard on a system. (my old rig that in the middle of being replaced is a 775 system with 4 gig of ram and nvida 250 cpu. for your build the nvidia 550-560ti will be pleanty fast and right now some of the 550 with rebate are hitting the 99.00 price point.

Im deciding between a 6970 and 560Ti now. I originally was going with Nvidia because it seemed like a lot of CoH people had issues with ATI drivers and I wanted to avoid that. I am not worried about the VC fitting in the case. I have seen online reviews that shows the largest card to date will fit with 2cm to spare and the middle cages for the harddrive are removable for future cards and I would probably remove it anyway for more airflow to the VC from the front fans.
It seems the thing to do is go EVGA with Nivdia but I have no idea who to use with Ati.. XfX and Sapphire seem to be the most common but I dont know about those vendors.
Is there anything that I should be wary of ??
I want to make a decision on these cards.. I will either go with Corsair Vengence or the G.Skill RipsJaws Ram as bother get excellent grades from reading on the net.
I might upgrade the PSU slighty to a 750 just so I have power to spare..
I didnt see that the 1.5 TB is the same price as the 500 so I will go with that.. i will wait on that to see if the price drops a little..
I am buying the case. ram. mb and cpu first in the hopes that pricing will drop on the VC and the HD..
Still looking for a Blu Ray burner.. everyone I have liked is either out of stock or too much loot.

The 460, even being a generation older, is still a superior card to the 550.
Sorry.
Then why get a K class i5 if you are just going to stick it on an H67 motherboard? The H67 doesn't allow you to tweak the multiplier beyond +4, unlike the P67 or Z68. |

I wont figure this in right away, looking at videos it easy to add in takes like 10-15 mins tops. I might change the stock fans for Noctua's or Cougars. I dont think I will be doing anything like a Push Pull with 4 fans... I want more quiet.
Eventually
Second Video card for SLI..
Is there anything here that isnt compatible or not a good idea.. going to get the case from MicroCenter next week as it is on sale for 40 bucks off and that will pretty much pay for my RAM !!!
