Quote:If I remember correctly CN partially financed Big O.Well, Adult Swim has also announced that they are "developing new original anime programming for fans."
Whatever that means, exactly. Just a fancy way of saying they'll be licensing more recent dubbed anime? Or they'll be trying to create American-made psuedo-anime shows like Avatar? -
Again according to the Wiki article about the movie, there is a part where one alien ship is hiding out of visual range and do to plot devices both radar and sonar is ineffective so there is something like blind firing in the movie.

Well, relatively speaking as well as in the eyes of PC gamers where even a single GPU top end card isn't enough. The HD 7770 is roughly 40% the performance of the GTX 680 and is a tad less powerful than the less expensive HD 6850.
On the other hand the HD 6450 is only 1/5th as powerful of the HD 7770. -
Flash needs extra Acc, it's default is well below the other powers in the set.
Deceive needs recharge, so you can stack it, and confuse to extend the duration. Range can also be useful so you can attack outside of standard detection range (a miss on deceive won't aggro the target). -
Of the two the second one because the video card is much better than the first however the HD 7770 is decidedly on the low end on the video card spectrum. It's definitely not a balanced approach.
I'm guessing the weak video cards are due to using a weak power supply. Also 12GB is an odd amount for dual channel memory. Sounds like someone is looking to get rid of their stock of 2GB SIMMs. -
RIP
(obligatory lower case so all caps stay all caps) -
From what I read on Wiki about the movie, the aliens fire weapons that look like the pegs in the game. What a tie in.

Looks like they are simply rebranding Saturday midnight to Sunday 6am block as Toonami. Maybe we'll get more Toonami like filler than hawking their Sunday night lineup.

I still have my original Battleship game in a beat up box in my basement. I've played Battleship a lot when I was growing up (along with Risk and Stratego). I'm pretty sure Battleship didn't have invading aliens from the sea.
Haven't we had enough "Aliens invade Earth" movies in the last two years? Even with ignoring Transformers 3. -
Quote:So Hugo Weaving got hosed for V for Vendetta? So it's likely just a contract point or is it that the actor taking the role of a masked hero (or villain) simply won't sign up without essentially guaranteeing he needs to be unmasked at least once due to his face time requirement? This leads back to my narcissus point.Screen Actors Guild rules. The actor's contract requires that his face be visible and recognizable for X percentage of the film. This is why Tony Stark opens up his helmet so much, as a note. Since Spidey (unlike Cap, Hawkeye, Thor, Widow, Batman, Superman, or Green Lantern) sports a completely face covering mask, the writers are forced to unmask him routinely.
Honestly due to the CGI nature of a character like Spider-Man, taking in the account the cost of big screen quality CGI to me means that there really isn't a lot of time relative to the role where the character of Peter Parker is masked. -
With Lucy Liu as Watson it may turn out more like Sherlock and Kato.
Revolution smells a lot like Flashforward (the way ABC did it, not the original novel) with the whole conspiracy take on the world wide suppression of electricity beyond neural levels.
The Last Resort also comes across as yet another conspiracy series. So you have the sub crew on the island, their families back home and the nefarious bad guys who want to nuke Pakistan. I'm guessing the original plan was to say that sub went rogue anyways and that's why Pakistan got glassed but the Navy was too late to prevent it. -
Okay, fiberglass coated cardboard. Link

Everytime Korra gets conked on the head she gets flashes of an older Aang and company. Northern waterbending tribe council guy mentioned that Aang had defeated one threat to Republic City years ago and in the flashes we see someone we don't recognize who I assume was this big bad. Now what if Aang unbent this bad guy and Amon is this bad guy's son, who saw what Aang did and after X number of years figured out how to do it himself?
Sure Northern waterbending tribe council guy seems like he could be the bad guy but it's a bit to obvious. Power seeking politician I won't put past him but the actual big bad, nope. -
Saw a preview clip tonight during something I was watching (Bones or Eureka) and all I can say is why to they always want to take the mask off? Are actors so narcissistic that they can't sign up to play a masked superhero and leave the mask on when doing the superhero bit?
"Look, I'm not entirely CGIed". -
Actually single Vs dual (or triple or quad) rails is sort of a slight of hand trick. In reality standard PSUs only have one 12 volt rail internally but what they do is split the circuit and current cap each circuit, similar to your home's breaker box, and call it a rail. The idea behind limiting the maximum current per rail has more to do with preventing a 12 volt wire from evaporating and catching it's insulation on fire due to a short. It also allows them to use thinner gauge wire for the 12 volt lines.
The drawback of multiple 12 volt rails is if the PSU designers weren't to careful about which devices (determined via the connectors) are attached to which rail. For instance putting the CPU power on the same rail as the video card PCIe power connector when the rail isn't rated very high, like 14 amps, would be bad since both devices could exceed that limit.
The latest ATX12V PSU spec, 2.3, eliminated the requirement that no 12 volt rail exceed a 20 Amp limit. -
The 2009 Swine Flu pandemic shows that we currently have the distribution infrastructure in place for an even more lethal one to take a fairly big bite out of mankind.
However I don't think this is going to be the way we get to a major human die off. It'll come when we get wacked by an electrical grid frying solar event. Utilities all over the world simply do not have enough spares to repair the failed substations and without power it will be difficult to make the replacement equipment needed. Without power, water purification/distribution/treatment will shut down. Without power most people will run out of gas in a matter of days and supermarkets will rapidly run out of food. Without cable and internet to preoccupy the masses, things are going to turn ugly really quick. -
And the newly announced but not yet available 670 is only $400 and is less than 10% slower than the $500 680.
Personally still waiting for the $250-300 card. -
The problem Hyper is talking about is as flash size decreases (density goes up) the number of erase cycles decreases, steeply at times. This means SSD lifespans decrease. There are some ways to firm it up some, additional memory set aside for over-provisioning for example. It's one of the reasons enterprise class SSDs are much more expensive than the ones for general consumption.

Nobody is noticing my "even if he doesn't realize it" part of my quote. I for one could see him volunteer to get brainwashed so "The Light" would accept him. Sort of a twist on what was done to Red Arrow. Miss M does the reprogramming, Robin/Nightwing tells the JL Kaldur 'Ahm flipped sides and joins up with Black Manta. Superboy not happy about all the mind messing (due to his own history) including what could be the memory of Aquagirl dieing then dumps Miss M.
They realize it may take years for the other side to trust him. Therefore, long con. -
Only a 50% drop off from opening weekend, which is great for a blockbuster.

The only thing I'm tired about the Paragon Market is the horrible interface that requires me to drill down three levels and flip four pages to find the item costume bundle that's either new or on sale. It makes the consignment house UI see like the pinnacle of UI design.

Thundercats - another flashback to when Mumm-ra was BMOC. Lion-o isn't the world's best tactician yet.
"Okay here's the plan, Panthro, Cheetara and Tygra go get the tank while the new girl and I take the long winding route through the mountain with the glowing homing sword on my back that guarantees I'll run into the guy who we don't want to get it. I don't care if I lose it because I just want to get the new girl to like me."
Green Lantern - Yay, hawkmen. Two face, double dealing, thieving pirate hawkmen but at least hawkmen.
Young Justice - Whoa. Impressive to watch all the Bats work together. Five years seem to have improve the Super's relationship and the Wondergals are impressive as a team. Show of hands, who thinks the former Aqualad is playing a long con, even if he doesn't realize it? Miss M seems to have no problem MFing the little aliens. And with most of the original JL off planet on trial, I can see things getting very interesting.
Legend of Korra - Called it (Wolfbats getting unbent). And it wasn't just cleverly zapping all the metal benders but the Equalists seemingly took out the patrol boats and zeps with ease. Besides all the action/drama, the humor was turned up nicely in this episode. -
For some reason I thought this would simply be chalked up as another DOOM thread but am pleasantly surprised the direction it went.
I admit I have only one Praetorian character and he hasn't even leveled to the point where he gets missions beyond the starting zone. Yes it's tougher which I chalk up to unfamiliarity of the new mobs and their powers as well as the fact I'm playing a KM Brute.
The pros - no war walls, both CoH and CoV ATs allowed, full use of the new graphics engine.
The cons - new users directed here first, existing CoH/CoV characters aren't allowed, UM effects targeted at higher end systems so sluggish performance may have discouraged new players.
Then of course there was the mass migration of players to GR and then back again. Blue and Red side became deader as existing players rushed over to try out GR only to have them return and make the Red side seem jumping compared to who was left playing Gold side.
I disagree with the article about Freedom. The hybrid F2P/Subscription model has been proven as the natural evolution of the just subscription model. Of course NCSoft needs to get their butts in gear with Paragon Points cards at major retailers like other hybrid MMOs. They need to stop making this game the exclusive realm of credit/debt card and Paypal users and look at the kids/tweens/teens with cash end of potential players. -
I will assume PCIe and not PCI (sadly not even close to the same thing). Of course if you do mean PCI, you are likely to be disappointed.
Fortunately the relative performance of the 8600GTS is now considered extremely poor so an inexpensive card should be able to give you equal or even improved performance.
I would look for a GT 440 with GDDR5 memory (there are also versions with DDR3 memory but 1GB of faster memory is better than 2GB of slower, of course either is better than none). This assumes you have a PCIe x16 slot and not the much older and not really designed for a gaming video card PCI slot.
Whatever you do, stay away from the GT 520, not really meant for gaming, at all. It's significantly slower than either the GT 430 or 440.
