But the HD 5450 isn't that much faster than the 6600.
-
Yea, it can make your head spin. Upgrading from the basic 6600 to even today's low end cards should be a major kick in performance.
First a question, do you have room for a double wide video card. Most video cards now assume the slot next to the video card slot is empty so they can use a large heatsink/fan.
If that's not a problem, your next is the power supply. It's rather small for today's video cards, even the low end ones. While the Dell 305 watt PSU is rather hardier than the PSUs found in a lot of PCs found in stores today, it's still on the low side. Also most video card manufacturers specify a minimum 400 watt PSU to cover their butts, even on very low wattage video cards.
Taking that into consideration I would look for either the GT 430 or the HD 5550/5570 GDDR5 in a 512MB configuration, to save on power. They are 40 watt cards, the 6600 was a 27 watt card, hopefully that 10ish extra watts won't break the power "bank" so to speak. These cards also use less power than their previous generation counterparts, the GT 220 or the HD 4650, or even the 9400GT. Also going to a 1GB card will likely reduce the amount of system memory available, you may even lose some with the 512MB card.
I believe the Dim 4700 can take a standard PSU due to the full cutout in the rear. With that option, replacing the PSU with something a tad beefier in the amps at 12 volts department like this can open up all sorts of video card options but I can understand not wanting to spend a lot of money on an old system. -
I love that it's that time again where everyone who secretly want to be a TV program exec takes a look at the ratings numbers and decide on that basis alone if a show will or won't be renewed. Something that's not considered by most of these armchair program execs is the show's cost Vs advertising revenue.
Yes, The Cape is probably gone. Cutting the order down from 13 to 10 isn't a good sign.
Nikita, no way, it's only negative is that it loses some of the lead in audience from Vampire Diaries, it's still one of the top three rated shows on CW. Same is true with Lie to Me, losing viewers from House.
Face it, NBC can't win on Monday nights against ABC's reality show or CBS's dramas or Fox's House. If they cancel Chuck, The Cape and The Event, what do they have that they can show? This is one reason NBC is the kiss of death for Wonder Women.
V is a poor remake, lost interest in it last year.
Shows like Lie to Me and Human Target are filler series. Never a 22 episode commitment as their purpose is as place holders until the 800 lb gorilla American Idol comes back in the spring. -

I never doubted we would have the last 10 episodes of the season.

Warning, canceling to check may be a problem for the 7-year reward.
When you log into your account and go to Billing Summary. If you are on a subscription plan then it will show up in Scheduled Payments with type of plan and when it will be applied next. If you go into your Game Account Details (your game account) it will also show there in the account box.
As long as your payment info is still valid, it will automatically charge you. No need to do anything. -
Review on the HP dm1z, very favorable.

Since the HP system is less than a month old, if that, I doubt anyone has experience with one. The Asus yes, there's been a thread or two about it.

Reviews of the E-350 platform with the HD 6310M are up on a number of sites over the last few weeks. The E-350 is faster than the Atom and the HD 6310M is as good as the ION2. But we are still talking about playing the game with the majority of graphic options turned way down.

A GTS 450, even at Best Buy is only $140-180. Prices are a lot cheaper online at NewEgg.
A $200 1GB GTX 460, ordered online through NewEgg, is generally 50% faster than a GTS 450. Downside is it uses 50% more power, an additional 55 watts which you may be already taking into consideration.
As for brands, eVGA is considered to be the "big name" when it comes to nVidia video cards. Asus is also a good name, PNY is somewhat generic and Galaxy trying to climb the ranks of popular vendors. -

Yea, a little vague there.
If your question is can a run with some UM settings on low, then probably, depends on your resolution and if you can crazy with AA settings. The card is about 15% slower than an HD 5770. It falls between the old GTS 250 and the original 192SP GTX 260 in performance. -
I always thought the sun and moon icon was to adjust the lighting model so you have an idea what your costume would look like outdoors at night Vs broad daylight.
-
You should use monitor resolution instead of size. It doesn't matter if your 1920x1080 monitor is 17" or 60", it's still 2 megapixels to render.

Finally saw this trailer, it's definitely a lot more action and angst than our X-men animation.

Funny, I tend to find the backgrounds to be more panning stills in general with anime.

I seem to remember Bill Z Bubba trying it once several years ago using one of those add-in ram drive cards. He mentions it in this recent thread but I remember one back when he originally tried it. Lost to time I guess.
Quote:PT,
Back when I was running COH on an I-RAM (PCI card with 4GB-DDR RAM and a SATA cable) my zone times were damn near nonexistent. I don't know if a real SSD will perform in the same way or not, though.
And whether SSDs in general are worth the cash yet, I also do not know. -
I never had that problem, at least the one time I used the store, back during the sale of goodie/booster packs. Bought 5 or 6 of them in a row in the space of 10 minutes. Maybe I was lucky.

They aren't actually married, just long time partners. They share side by side condos IIRC, with a common 1st floor.

Quote:Resolution, Frame Rate, Pretty ... Pick Two.I tried to talk him into at least the 5770 but he had a very hard budget of $600 so that's where he ended up. Even atthat he is EONS ahead of what he was using.
I'll find out his resolution and get back to you... I know he has a 22" lcd widescreen.. mostly because I bought it for him for Christmas last year.
Thanks for your suggestions.
Sadly we are seeing more and more of this because high resolution monitors are so damn cheap now and unlike TVs, bigger screen size usually means more pixels and unlike HDTVs where scaling up a 720P source to 1080P is done at the TV, PC games tend to use the desktop resolution which is normally the native resolution of the monitor. This means buying a physically larger monitor will also increase the resolution and without kicking up the graphics card will lead to worse performance, just because you bought a bigger monitor.
If you turn off advance graphics options and set the slider to the third setting, which IIRC is the maximum non ultramode game settings, and then turn advance graphics options back on, that may be a good starting point for nudging each UM settings on and see how that affects frame rate (/showfps 1). The HD 5670 is still a very powerful card compared to cards from a few years ago. -
Anyone else think Kate Dennings is even hotter in those glasses?
