Then this may not be a post for you. It's just a simple post about sets I played and my experience with them. Nothing more, nothing less. If you had experiences with these sets or others feel free to share. I wasnt high either...dont smoke/snort/intake or what ever people do these days, any of that type of stuff.

It's no different then other "What I like about this *insert powerset*" and "what I dislike about this *insert powerset*" posts around or people posting videos or text about them soloing AVs, or other achievements or just posting praising a powerset. Yet I dont see you making comments like this on the other one. So I assume, that either you just never come across any, or you're here to cause trouble and nothing more. I'm leaning towards the first reason as you wont find trouble here as there is nothing else to explain nor defend.

no fan of star wars/star trek but i like the idea of that. i'd go for those ideas for the next summer block event.
  3. Alright have now a level 50 of each TW, Staff, and Electric melee, although in different combos of ATs and or primaries and or secondaries. But my top three and +one more favorites that I've played 1-50 thus far

    TW/Regen brute (incarnate +2)
    Staff/electric Tank (incarnate +3)
    Electric/Electric brute (incarnate +3)

As far as just pure chaos and killing large mobs quickly and running to next mob and repeat is the electric/electric brute. Opening up with a good Lightning rod, barely leaving anything alive and those that are, barely alive, pop Power sink, and pick them off and move on.
Similiar but bit more direct and AOE is the TW/Regen. Good stuff, hits hard, large numbers, good fury building. Just must be ready to hit a heal here and there to keep it going. Love TW, it feels heavy, slow to swing at first till momentum kicks in (love that part too) and then it attacks relative lightning fast, well not as fast as lightning rod, but close. That thing decimates enemies in no time.

The staff/electric tank, similar to the brute yet so different. It's more methodical and the extra resistance over the brute shows. Good smash resistance, good energy resistance, and even decent against psi. Upper level (48-up where every other mob seems to be psi and or energy) mobs mostly dont stand a chance. Staff is good and those chances when the fight is long, power sink helps and I can pummel a helpless no end having mob. My favorite out of the three over all for solo play. Flashy animations, good damage, good knockdown, solid secondary set. And if the situation gets real sticky, there is always energize.

The +one, the newest addition to the group, the Fire Armor/WM. One second I see a group of mob, next I see fire everywhere and anyone that try to jump out the flames gets bashed with a bat or stick. And the end drain power, while not as quick recharging as the electric brute/tank one, still is up often enough to use it by the time end may get low. And if for some reason it falls, rise of phoenix is good power to get back up while everything staggers around as I get back up and burn them to powdered carbon for the trouble. Only downside really is knockback here and there but no problem. Given that not most mobs are very resistant to fire, most things drop pretty quickly and if they are the bat/stick is very good back up espeically when combined with the build up and fiery embrace as it adds fire damage to even the WM powers. If things get sticky, healing flames is there and it's very quick to recharge. Occassionally teamed.

Others that is up and coming(not yet 50 and or storyline has not ended) and recent worth mentioning,

TW/WP-Sturdy as hell and good damage

Eletric armor/Energy melee- Good stuff, good stuns, good damage even for a tank.

SS/Regen- Sometimes big hits hurt but there is enough heals to recover fast and with SS usually not enough mob survive long to cause much threat.

But all I enjoy and or enjoyed playing and some might.

on some of the older maps/missions, this doesnt awlays happen. Many times spent looking for last glowie the "old" way even though the last objective suppose to show up on map.

That would be good idea. They do it on some missions I wonder why not the rest of them.

I've been working up an Idea for this for some time (see the above)

I happen to be a castlevania fan, I prefer the old belmont style game play.

anyways a long while back I noticed demon summoning has that nice nifty flaming whip; shame the devs did all that work for only one attack..

unless; Whip Melee, a solution to the problem.

Being a castlevania fan I just had to include a ranged whip-slung power ball attack as the last attack (#9) but I must say that is optional and can be replaced if necessary.

    as for the power set;

I decided to give it holding and damage debuff abilities on several attacks, one single target, and one AoE. both being in spirit of indiana jones' Whiplatch technique.

The set features smashing and lethal damage, but I realized some people might complain things like "I want to use [Damage type here] with my whip, it would be cool" so I included a damage type shifting power much like in dual pistols but with more selections to cover all bases, the damage type chosen is set to replace the Lethal damage which in most attacks is secondary or has it's own triggering conditions.

the powerset has 3 Ranged attacks (because we all know whips can hit things at range) and 3 melee focusing mainly on AoE, then 3 damageless powers, 1: taunt/confront with a chance to confuse, 2: Damage shift and 3: A Rage like power.

blasters and doms get an everlasting attack instead of taunt.

anyways please take a look, I know I forgot to add a stealth power for stalkers and subsequent other things related to that but thats because I don't play stalkers much and didn;t know what would be the best adaptation. (thats open to discussion)

    anyways please read and discuss
Think someone brought it up in a chat channel on virtue about three or four months ago. It's a good idea but something about the difficulty on the animation process made it kind of hard to do, especially if it was a solid weapon instead of elemental, like the Demon Summoning one. Rumor has it that it took lot of time to complete the few power animations on demon summoning when they created it.
Now that time has passed, maybe a little more time like three more powers then three more then you have a set. It seems to be about one third of the way there already just need the other two thirds. Not yet sure how they would do it with non-elemental whips. But i'd settle for only elemental whips for now until they figure it out (if they was to make the set). Maybe by issue 30 or so it may be esily viable. In a game like this, losts of things change and one day whips may be one of the powers among us.

I know when i play my tanks, i soft cap S/L, and others if i can. The Elemental attacks (Fire, Ice, etc) protection which you get from HS, and you skipped it? like one of the other members said, its one of the most important and majority of baddies have Fire or something elemental. Im sorry evil, but i dont know how people understood you from most of your posts. I know you came here for help and you got it, but there is easier ways to explain things. Just dont tell anymore people you skip DEF powers. And i would like to know the full story of not taking HS, even if you had to take that power away foranother one for sets, why HS!!! doesnt make sense and i dont even own a WP tank/scrap or anything

This is not about scrappers or defense this thread is and should be about stalkers of the spine type paired wit ha good resistance based set. If you have good input on spines stalker and resistant based sets that go good with it, I'm listening.

High Pain Tolerance provides resistance and health but the resistance is negligible. The real gain is the health, so long as you can boost your defense and resistance high enough to leverage it. So it is a healing/health power.

Reconstruction provides resistance and healing but the resistance is only to Toxic. Certainly that is nifty enough when facing Greater Devoured, but not so handy when facing Demons, 5th Column Flamethrowers, Freakshow zotting you, etc. The primary gain of this power is the healing.

Mind Over Body grants resistance to Smash, Lethal, and Psionic.

Indominitable Will provides status protection and defense to Psionics.

Heightened Sense provides Defense to Smash, Lethal, Fire, Cold, Energy, and Negative Energy. Hmmm. . .do you get any resistance to Fire, Cold, Energy or Negative Energy? No. So this set is primarily providing protection via Defense to elements you have no other protection from other than a wall of health or healing. Moreover the Defense gain for Fire, Cold, Energy, and Negative is nearly 4 times that for Smash/Lethal. Unmistably a defensive power (and one you should be taking and slotting well).

One wonders how you knock the Defense aspect of thet set by saying it only has 2 Defensive powers and claim it is a Resistance set when in reality the number of powers that are providing you with real resistance numbers isn't any higher. It seems painfully clear to me that you are meant to layer the defense, resistance, healing, and health boosts to survive making this a mixed set.

As nifty as Invincibility is, an Invulnerability character is sitll a tough cookie with it turned off. A Willpower character forgoing the Defense powers of the set is far squishier by comparison.

As goes Dark Armor and Electrical Armor. . .I suggested Electrical Armor because it gets you past a number of issues providing resistance to endurance drain, the ability to drain endurance yourself, and providing a haste component. Dark Armor has its own set of perks but not having to worrry about endurance drains and being able to fix your endurance issues ranks it higher in my book than Dark Armor where some number of people fall into endurance problems.
Ok then I stand corrected. The WPs that "I" build is resistance based and I tend to do very good with it that way.

I can see a spine/electric armor concept developing. Or a cool spines/dark armor coming about. I might just make them both at same time and play both of them to upper levels. Make them related in storyline or arch-enemies or both. Yea both. I think the spine/electric and spine/dark is going to turn out well. Thanks for infomation. Although I may build another wp stalker and combine it with something like electric melee or street justice. Yeah, a wise cracking rough grizzled StJ/WP concept.

Electric Armor won't end up with endurance issues, but it doesn't really have any advantages until you get Energize and Power Sink, so take that into mind when you're leveling up on the build - you may want some endurance reduction in attacks until then.

Spines on a Stalker loses a bit of the main strength of the set by getting rid of Quills but trades it off with much better single target damage in Assassin's Impaler. You get a more well-rounded set that can still do good AoE damage, making it more useful overall (IMO).
yea with electric armor, I have experience with that on other sets. In fact had an electric armor brute prior to energize and I must say that energize was improvement. Even though power sink on a stalker sounds like fun though.
Now with the new stalker changes that I've been hearing about, does it take you out of hid if say you pop power sink? Or can you drain their end then pop them with AS? Even though in practical reason, I would probably AS them first but concept wise would be funny to see if ya can drain their end with power sink then finish them off with a AS or if it's group of mob, might be able to drain all the end pop AS and not worry about too many attacks.

I kind of came to that realization about repulsion field. I took it as I didnt have anything else to choose, and I never actually used it in combat.
But I do sometimes go back to mercy island to see how far I can fling level1-5s across the map with force bubble and or repulsion field. Funny stuff.
  19. So,Dark armor looks like it would be good too. Just have to be careful and get that end under control.

Dont think I tried that one just yet on a stalker and sounds like it should be good combo with Spines. Same with electric.

Well thanks for the good info about these sets and thanks to those that stuck to the subject instead of trying to start something.

I'ma get to work on the stalker either today or tomorrow. Thanks.

Hm never notice it taking that long to kill anything with a tank. Think about a couple of extra hits. Think I spent more time trying to kill things with the corruptor, controller, or electric/electric dom. But maybe I have higher threshold of what constitute a long time.

But if two out of nine powers make it a mixed set then I guess regen is actually a mixed set too with resistance, it has two. A heal with toxic resistance and resiliance.
