On a force field MM what situations do people use Repulsion Field and or Force Bubble for in solo play and team play?

Forcefielders rarely use Repulsion Field. It eats end like crazy. It's difficult to use to manuver foes, even harder than hurricane or wormhole (controllers use that). I am sure someone will jump in to say something about using it. It can be used situationally when spawns pin you in a corner to get room to manuver.

I find I use Force Bubble much more often. When using ranged pets like robots (or mercs/thugs) or teamed with ranged powers like defenders, corruptors, blasters, and dominators, you can deny melee damage from most foes. Some spawns will fight the repel instead of standing at range to shoot at you.

Force bubble can pin foes in dead ends, block doors, slow additional aggro from joining the battle. One favorite place to use the Force Bubble is in the reactor room during TV respec trials. Another very useful place to use the Force Bubble is in the warehouse with the Director and the Malta in the first mission of the Tin Mage TF.

Like many powers, if you know you have it, and are able to foresee and utilize situations the power is used more and more frequently.

Triumphant Defenders Forever
Psylenz FF/Psi, ArticQuark Storm/Rad, Symon BarSisyphus Bots/psn, Max VanSydow Thugs/Dk, Cyclone Symon Bots/stm, Blue Loki Ice/Cd, Widow 46526
HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.

yeah just was wondering. Its in the set so assumed there has to be use for it. Since I'm solo a lot, I dont think I ever used it. The mob groups are spread out usually solo and i usually just go to the mob anyways.

Never thought of using it in the terra volta reactor but mine is redside anyways. Sounds like good plan to keep any mob off that reactor.

Repulsion Field, no.

Force Bubble...it depends. I have an FF/BR Defender and I skip Force Bubble. But I can see the utility with regards to ranged pets. I'd just skip it though.

Now there's a dangerous assumption!

Repulsion Field is useful for crowd control. It's random, but it works, and the power doesn't need any slots added if you save it for emergencies. If you start losing battle drones and things are getting out of hand, you can turn on Repulsion Field and play bumper cars with the mobs until things are under control.

Force Bubble does have its uses, but it also has bonus features like the ability to aggro whole rooms of mobs that you can't even see (since it extends through walls) and the ability to make all your melee teammates yell at you if you keep pushing their targets around.

Both powers are skippable, but they both have their uses. I like Repulsion Field (and Repel and Sonic Repulsion) because it's fun send your opponents flying helplessly in all directions.

The only advantages I have found to Repulsion Field is that it is both autohit and doesn't cause movement suppression. It's not necessarily a bad power to toggle on and then immediately off if you might have hit a clickie.

If you do decide to leave the toggle on, the best way to use it is IMO not to stand in place but to run AT the enemy you need to kb. Enemy AI is generally not good enough to compensate for you charging at them, where as if they come to you a lot of times they'll hit you before being flung away.

Very dangerous assumption. lol.
Yea, well teammates yell about anything these days.
And there is nothing like aggroing a room ya havent even been in and wondering where the heck did this giant mob come from.

Repulsion field is a wasted power slot.

Force bubble is good for BAF prisoner escape. Id ditch it if it wasnt for that.

I kind of came to that realization about repulsion field. I took it as I didnt have anything else to choose, and I never actually used it in combat.
But I do sometimes go back to mercy island to see how far I can fling level1-5s across the map with force bubble and or repulsion field. Funny stuff.
