Well maybe we got 2 different standards as to whats playable than whats not. What I consider playable is not having to worry about endurance so much. You should not have to pace yourself so much with this set. Think about it like this, the devs have done alot recently to make the first 20 levels of the game alot smoother on leveling. One huge change was the stamina at level 2 thing and speeding up the default sprint speed, and travel powers earlier. So whats wrong with having things a bit easier so its not a struggle from 1-50? I get that some folks still want a challenge but thats what slotting TO's past level 12 is for.
-
I do slot for end and it still does not make a difference. Hell thats pretty much the first thing I did. The first few attempts I did with DA just did not work out on a scrapper and a brute, but with a stalker I was able to make it work but only after going all out on end set bonuses and using the end proc. A power set should not be playable only on 1 out of 4 ATs its ported to.
-
I have always looked at DA as being similar to Invul and Regen but with a few power changes. Its signature power used to be CoF, just as how with Invul it is invincibility and with Regen it used to be Instant Healing (when it was a toggle). Fast forward and we get these nerfed sets into the ground, while invincibility did not get hit as hard as the other 2 I think CoF suffered the worst of the 3. There needs to be something done about this.
Now about the DR issue I really do not have much of a problem with it since I use the IO proc to gain some end back. In a huge group I can sometimes go from almost no end to full with the IO just as I go to full health. So there is some hope around this issue. We just need to put our efforts on getting CoF changed. I asked Castle about this back in the day and he said they are not going to change it, but I think we need a new set of eyes on this. Maybe Synapse will agree with us on this on CoF being too nerfed or not worth the end costs. I think though at the very least they need to fix the accuracy issue because of how bad it messes up the streak breaker like the others have said. I too have noticed significantly more missing when I have this power running than when I dont. I just cant afford to run tactics to make up for it. -
Quote:So playing a powerset that needs IOs just to function thats still the equivalent of a super hero with asthma is balanced? I think not. THe set basically forces you to choose from staying alive or attacking and nots really that much more survivable compared to other sets and is probably worse in alot of situtationsIf anything doesn't need to be changed in DA it's the HEAL. And DA is fine as it is, if you can't play it, there are enough sets around with a lot of recovery, heals, def, resists, whatever. Dark Regeneration is one of the best, if not the best heal in the game, the point of it being high is to actually be useful when there's only a single target around. DA is one of the most balanced and interesting armor sets around and is perfect like that.
-
Quote:Nah the heal isnt the issue its the freaking end hog CoF. Its just not worth the end cost for the nerfed mitigation is provides. I could see if it worked on stuff above minions without stacking, I could see if the tohit debuff was worth a damn or the base accuracy made it worth it but its just not worth toggling on for. If that toggle was reduced to sane levels of endurance burn we might have something here. Right now the set is only playable to me on stalkers and thats only due to having 2 less end draining toggles to run to make up for it CoF being so bad. If CoF was returned to pre-nerf status you would not end to use DR so much to begin with.Personally, I think one change and one change only would make Dark Armor a far more viable set, even for tankers - and don't point me to that one video of a Dark Armor tank that is listed in the owner's sig because we all know he is defense softcapped...
Cut the heal and end cost of Dark Regeneration in half. That's it. Oppressive Gloom can cause a person to use Dark Regen more often in certain situations and builds dependent on level and slotting if you think about it.
Leave the end cost of Cloak of Fear alone - everything in the whole set is balanced outside of dark regen. The heal is TOO HIGH and unnecessary which is the whole argument against the gigantic end burn, not even considering the tohit check requirement.
REMEMBER that we need the set to be viable to Freebies that only have access to SOs, and you need to weigh the cost of Acrobatics on top of everything else.
Remember that the Cloak of Fear issues and Dark Regen's values are not the only hurdles people need to make up for. Knockback protection is another big hole (yes, easily fixed, but still, we need to remember Freebies with their SOs.) The number one complaint even after the revamps years ago has always been end cost - always. The toggles are fine, even with Cloak of Fear, considering how useful that power is. Dark Regen is the true endurance destroyer, considering how often you need to use it with the low resistance values of the set. Cloak of Fear and Opressive Gloom are the tools that make up for those low resist numbers - and running them all, at all times, should be the main goal in my eyes, like every single other set in the game. It's Dark Regeneration, even fully slotted with level 50 vanilla IOs for end cost, STILL takes a big bite out of your end.
Thoughts? -
Its a shame that they do not. It basically makes inventions worthless on masterminds aside from a few procs and res/def bonus specials. On trollers at least your controls can become alot better so its not a total waste to use them.
-
Might do SR/Staff or Shield/Staff if they allow the pairing. But this is only if the stafff set is given to stalkers as well. I made up my mine that I will not buy another melee set if it excludes stalkers. Its not that it will be good on stalkers its just the principal of it.
-
I guess the better question should have been what will it take to finally get rid of "lol stalkers" in all teaming situations across all servers?
-
I hope your joking right? Seriously caltrops were never ever a threat just a huge annoyance. I pretty much skip all knives content because if it. I really hate being slowed to a crawl. Furthermore its really annoying on those hostage missions there the hostage will not move until the psuedo pet caltrops despawn despite all the the knives being dead. Samething happens with the decoy phantasm in carnies missions. If anything I see that the npcs hostage usually die in caltrops while waiting them to despawn before they even get a chance to move. That in itself is reason enough they dont need to stack anymore.

Quote:all I can say is I loled when i read it. Funny stuff. I do agree with you on how they totally forget about stuff and how they get their priorities in the wrong place. Still so much broken stuff since before issue 1 thats not fixed yet.Hey devs thanks for proliferating and also updating poison but you broke it!
Several posters have said that poison's poison trap and venemous gas get no benefit from enhancements placed on them. Great!! I have noticed this aswell on my poison controller with just SOs.
DEVS do NOT LET THIS get ignored because ur ADD always kicks in anytime you want to just focus on new shinies. Plz if you spent the time to proliferate and update poison get it fixed before issue 30(YEAH im that optimistic) -
If you want to have any remote chance of being able to solo then you want to do this as a mastermind or controller with good damage pets. Otherwise you will basically be riding a team to 50 if you want xp in a timely manner. As for as sets to heal empathy has always been the best. People always try to down play healing in this game when its has always been the best damage mitigation. As long as your reaction time is good it will serve you well regardless of the situation so long as there is no -heal being thrown around.

Quote:OMG this most definately. I stayed subbed with Aion up until rift went live. Its a shame because I loved how beautiful aion was and it was the first fantasy mmo that I like. What I hated was all the pvp which made it impossible to level past 40 because the opposing faction camps the city exits and instance entrances. To for so many servers down to 4 is just sad. I hear its going to be shrinking even more with the new server system they are implimenting. Its gonna be like another server merger for them all over again. Aion could turn around if they just introduced flagging pvp that one thing alone would have saved that game. With good reason. Aion failed to address the hostile PvP reqyirement that prevented PvE players from feeling immersed. I know the "western" team had no control over that but truth be told, had NCsoft just introduced PvP optional servers, the game would still be thriving today.
Shame to hear anyone got laid off though. Hopefully that didn't extend to PS. -
He is still a dork. This dude needs to grow a pair in both dimensions.

Gravity just needs 2 tweaks, one is make propels animation time significantly lower or make the damage on par with say energy transfer or assassin's strike. For the time it takes to kill something with it the damage should be huge. Second swap dimesions shift with wormhole. Once thats done the set will be perfect. I refuse to play the set to 50 because 26 levels is entirely too long to go without some real form of aoe control.

Quote:No I just dont want to take forever and a day to clear missions cuz someone wants to be an idiot with knockback. If you want to use kb then you dont need to team simple as that. Its not fair to everyone else. Here is the beauty that surpasses..............what just what happens if we LET EVERYONE USE ALL OF THEIR POWERS!
Imagine that?
You can hold, knockback, immobilize or anything else you want to do whenever you want to do it.
Life doesn't need to fit in an 8 ounce glass. Take big bites moderation is for monks. Seriously do you see what these posts all have in common?
You want to control other people and not explore the fun of Chaos. You want the Hulk to punch people just not TOO hard. You want Ironman to use his repulsor jets - just not much. You want Thor to use his hammer but only knock things down.
Really it sounds like you want the boring and mundane and not the extraordinary. Gather 'em up slaughter, rinse and repeat. Those players daring to be having FUN - well ban them to the deepest of hells for daring to muss up the conga line. -
Quote:I have always hated when they said distance or range was defense. Its not it never has been and in fact it can get you killed faster than melee in some cases. The problem is every freaking mob can just about outrange our characters. This is the only mmo I have played where its like this where kiting is virtually useless against mobs with range because they can just sit there and pick you off. Here's what I don't get ...
We used to get devs telling us that distance is damage mitigation ...
We had strong hints from Statesman and Geko that distance by any means was unreservedly good ...
But some controller AoE immobs grant mobs KB protection -- in one case, even when the set has an AoE KB power (fire).
It's also odd that players can grant mobs AoE KB protection while, pre-Clarion, they couldn't grant AoE KB protection to other players.
The only thing I can wrap my head around is that they devs were making a distinction that they didn't bother to communicate to players: KB is always good if you're talking about mitigation; KB is (possibly) bad if you're already able to keep mobs at range AND layer on further debuffs and controls. -
Quote:Hope you enjoy solo play.I decided to embrace the wonderful Chaos that is Knockback.
I have come to absolutely love it and I only see people complain because the groups aren't in neat little packages with ribbons on them waiting for the slaughter.
Tanks can't hold aggro? Move your large behind and keep moving.
Can't get AoE on all of them? Tough you have single attacks too!
Can't heal/buff/debuff all of them? Tough that's why you have teammates let them help too.
I LOVE Knockback and have in the past ran teams that REQUIRED the use of knockback powers - like insisting on Handclap on the tank. Yes, and add to the wonderful awesome Chaos by fighting Coucil as they have strong Knockback Mojo of their own! -
Quote:And I say again a person could have easily used some other power thats more effective in dealing with the situation whether its a debuff, a blaster nuke (without knockback of course), or a really buffed up tanker where the hits barely matter as to what the cimmies will do. I call shenanigans on anyone saying knockback is useful vs all the other possible powers that could be used instead. Hell I would sooner say use dimension shift before I say use knockback powers. On the ITF, before Incarnates made them trivial, Torrent from a Dark Defender would KB the entire spawn, including Bosses (in the same direction) giving everyone two free shots. Thus, no need for anyone to take the Alpha, and also preventing the Cimmies from using their team buffs. This means follow up controls and debuffs actually worked on them.
Otherwise, the Tanker would jump in, all the Cimmies would fire off their team buffs, and then they'd be hard to hit and nearly impossible to mez.
Also, during the Imperious fight, it pushes the adds away from the healing Nictus so they can be killed.
The same tactic does wonders for +4 Praetorians. On a Lambda run, where we're focused just on destroying the objects, spamming Torrent keeps everyone alive. On a Keyes, it knocks the IDF from the reactor leaving the terminals to be powered up. -
Its over valued if anything. I can not think of a single teaming situation in game where its better than existing controls, out right killing of the mobs or just tanking them. The problem is not the knockback itself but more so the scatter effect it causes. Its is almost always detrimetal to all of your allies powers that effect more than one mob. Furthermore not ever map in the game has the correct geometry to minimize the scatter effect the knockback powers have. Maybe some day the devs will try again for -kb enhancements and maybe then the powers will all be useable when teamed. Right now I dread teaming with energy blasters because of all the hell they causes. 99.999999999999% of all players do not know what the hell they are doing when it comes to knockback. I have yet to see a player aside from myself who knows how to position mobs with knockback so the scatter is either minimized or non-existent. I am not saying players who can use knockback effectively dont exists its just I have never seen them and I been playing since day 1.
Small disclaimer: If you are solo and want to use knockback then by all means go for it since at that point your not hurting your team because your solo. -
Save them in the base for alts who do respecs so I get the full money back on them.
-
Finally the marketing department gets it, advertisement that people will actually see. Now if they could only do this during movie previews or something to get the word out more.
-
This is a very sloppy change devs. Seriously how the hell could you just not make the system check to see if you have going rogue or something else. Making us do this first without first lowering the level for tip missions is just stupid.
-
When you buy the 90 pack does it go to all characters or just one?
-
Now its letting me log in on my pc's just fine. This is really weird. Screen still too huge to login on boot camp side
-
Ok minor update. On my mac I can login just fine as I said before but on the bootcamp side the log in screen is just jacked up. Its way too big like it was meant for another resolution or its a piece of like 4 monitors. I can enter the password by tabbing to that point but when I get to the eula page its so cut off I cant move the mouse to click accept. Crazy thing is everything was just fine yesterday. Not sure if that helps.
