Quote:EA is Energy Aura, Electrical Armor is generally Ele or Elec. Both have an endurance regain power and both have their advantages. Thanks for the responses folks. One quick follow up. A couple of you mentioned EA as a secondary. Is that Electric Armor or Energy Aura?
I have only played StJ on Test to level 35. Enjoyed it so much that when Bio Armor hits I will be pairing StJ with it on a scrapper (which is what I have on Test). I can't say I found endurance to be too much of a problem but then Bio Armor enhances Recovery doesn't it?
You might also consider Staff if you're looking for a way to manage endurance costs. -

Quote:Granted I am always taken by surprise when a tanker doesn't hold aggro well, I do recognize that there are people who primarily play solo, like tankers for their survivability, but do want to team when they can. They are both fun; play whichever you prefer.
But if you play a tanker...please actually tank. I'm always baffled by players that run tanks and seem to think they are a scrapper or brute. If you don't want to hold aggro for a team and be a team player or you want to be a primary damage dealer, then make a scrapper or a brute. It's better for all involved. You'll have more fun, and your teammates wont be dismayed when you run around facesmashing while everyone else gets shot to hell. -
Quote:"That's your opinion, my opinion is blah, blah, blah."Have at it. it was your choice to enter in the first place. Keep calling it what ever you wish to call it, that's your opinion just as it's my opinion that you obvious dont give a crap about your security and I think you are foolish for it, but that's just my opinion.
All opinions are not created equal.
You can believe the Earth is flat, man has never set foot on the Moon, vaccinations cause autism, there is a 50 year-old conspiracy to put Obama in the Presidency of the United States and that is all opnion that someone has advanced and believes in dearly.
I see little to seperate the above from what you are putting forth here.

Quote:The Wikipedia entry for SourceForge--you should read it.i wouldnt call it imaginary unless it never happened ever ever before int he history of cpus where some one made a virus that infected someone else computer before rather on purpose or by accident. And since it has happened before, then it's far from imaginary. I dont know anything about this site anymore than I know about some site from Russia with obvious weird coding and just because someone says "oh it's ok" that means I'm suppose to shrug it off and downlaod it.
Open source code developed openly.
At this point you can persist in your paranoid delusion if you want to. I am done wasting time on it. -
Quote:You you downloading a copy from some random other person who has compiled it?But from what is being decribed in the writing on the site any person with the know how can modify the code. And that part right there dont sit well with me at all. Meaning if a person have the know how, they could modify it to do just about anything once it's on ya system.
Why no, you're not. You're downloading it from the authors, who have put their names on line and would be guilty of both federal and a number of state crimes for putting a trojan out there.
I am sorry, but you're not thinking this through in the least.
I mean, I suppose people coule put their good names up on the credits page and intentionally be stealing from everyone using the program. It is a possibility. Nothing like being completely brazen at times.
Of course the program has only been available in multiple versions over multiple years and one might figure that were it such a false package as you seem to believe it is that someone would have noticed something in all this time. -
Quote:Its linked to sourceforge, meaning the code is available if you want to download it, look through it, and compile it yourself.well to me this kind of look like some random download site. I'm not even sure what kind of program I'm downloading if I was to do download Herostats. What I gather is that it's freecode thing that some guy made up that access information off the game, and transfer it to a file. Of course they wont say in order to work, ya need cookies, or tracking this and that or might say need to "track cpu settings".
Sorry, but you're really coming off as beyond reasonably paranoid. -
Quote:Because dozens of people on the forums (and possibly hundreds off the forums) run it without there be a rash of identity of theft?Hero stats looks kind of risky for computer security. I mean, even though the site look reputable, how do I know it wasnt modified to collect other data off the computer. Who is the source of this program code?
Quote:Part of the part looking risky is probably because I dont quite understand how these free code things work, especially when programed to track a particular item or program, which I think (maybe rightfully or wrongly) can easily be turned and used for other methods that is not stated or not of my intentions. -
Quote:I would have imagined Claws for a vampire.I am a fan of vampires as well especially if it has something to do with the World of Darkness-Vampire the Masquerade.
I'm going to make a Nosferatu when Bio Armor hits. He's going to be StJ/Bio which is perfect for a Nosferatu. I had a Malkavian and a Tremere but I deleted them...I might remake them soon. -
Why would you want to cure altitus?

Quote:I don't know how you are playing it, but standing in the middle of a spawn and firing off a two and a half second soul drain is going to need considerable levels of defense to ride out. Especially true when you are following up with a 3 second cast nuke. Even if you can consistently max out soul drain you are missing the synergy of power boost and stunning melee attacks from energy with radiation's stuns.Quote:You don't really need soul drain fully saturated to work but generally, it's a 'look at that sweet huddle' buff. You can use it when you want and more likely it won't be something you're waiting on to charge. Someone else can huddle them for you and it lasts for 2 spawns. If no one can herd for you, just pop some inspirations.
Admittedly my Sonic/Dark has Siren's Song to work with too, so the routine is Amplify->Siren's Song->Dark Pit->move in->Soul Drain->hop out->Dreadful Wail, but even without Siren's Song you should be able to avoid attacks long enough to leveral Soul Drain. The problem is that Dark Pit leaves mobs moving towards wherever they were moving when you hit them. Still, you should be able to pick up quite a few. -
What is up with all the pooh-poohing of Siren's Song?
You may use it less on a team, but it can still be a useful power on teams because there are invariably spare mobs that nobody is fighting/controlling who are off on the sides, accidental pulls from directions the group is not facing, and sometimes no desire even by the tank to face the alpha strike from certain groups. In each of those situations Siren's Song has a role to play. Add too that it comes with a default duration which is quite lengthy.
Of course the ultimate guide to which Sonic powers you should take depends on your concept of how your character works and the powerset you pair with it. In my case, playing a Kinetic/Sonic Defender, sleeping a spawn is a prelude to making use of Fulcrum Shift, Siphon Speed, Transference, and whatever else then becomes safe to apply. Look at your other powerset and consider what powers you can leverage synergy from. -
Quote:As noted, it lends to your view. It is hard to see it as a control (well, I suppose mobs do have to spend time standing up). I consider Gravity to only have Crushing Field, Gravity Distortion Field, and Dimension Shift (and really not so much that last one) as its area controls. For the Singularity bit, if you're talking about doing this recently, that's because they switched Wormhole to no-agro. As far as the mobs are concerned only Singularity attacked them.
For the Wormhole as control part, that is in fact a major issue. If people don't view Gravity Control's primary control power as a control, then something is very, very wrong.
I am not opposed to Gravity being review, however I think Poison probably should be looked at first (not that it is a competition). -
Quote:Given how often I am wormholing things on top of the Singularity pet, perhaps I have a somewhat twisted view of how horrible Wormhole is for its knockback. Certainly things that have been tossed about by Singularity seem to be angry with the Singularity.I'm sorry that some of us don't consider unmitigated chaos fun.
Honestly not everyone who thinks KB in wormhole is terrible design simply have it out of knockback.
I'm fine with knockback in Hand Clap (and variants). I'm fine with knockback in Gale and (sonic) Shockwave. I'm fine with knockback in Repulsion Field and Repel. I'm fine with knockback in powers like Force Bolt and Power Push.
I'm fine with those because those powers are for knockback.
Having knockback tacked on to your primary control powers was a stupid decision from the start. It serves no purpose but to unnecessarily hamper the use of the powerset's primary control.
But even before I had Singularity to summon on top of mobs or drop mobs onto with Wormhole, Wormhole certainly didn't strike me as horrible. Sure its going to toss things about a bit, but in the moment of their arrival you can have queued up another control (typically for me Crushing Field).
I guess I don't think of Wormhole as a method of control, which arguably lends to your point, but rather think of it as a way to split a spawn up since hopefully some of them will be left behind and of those that don't get left behind I am applying a control to some of them. -
Going the other way and thinking about adding knockback to a power, what does anyone think about adding the kb2kd proc to Rain of Fire?

I have prevented a couple of group wipes (though not all) by use of DS. Also, in the Summer Event, I took a couple of the echo opponents you face at the end out of the fight by use of DS and made surviving that portion of the event easier.
Certainly it is not a power you're going to use all that often. On the other hand, I'm drowning in power slots and can afford several "don't use all the time" powers.
I've been cycling through my 15 characters, getting each a level or two before moving on, so my Grav/Energy Dom is only now at 35. Still a ton of fun to play and there are wonderful abuses you can manage when you've got Singularity. -
Went with a Water/Time corruptor and have been enjoying it so far.
Now giving thought to a Water/Dark Blaster and possibly shipping one of my characters off to another server so I can use his name--Dark Tide. -
If he was ignoring his primary set then yeah. . .one wonders what was going through his head.
-
Just picked it up (and all the badges. . .nifty) on my first go at it with my DM/Elec/Soul Brute. I'm half tempted to slam it into Lightning Field. But then my thoughts turn to Dark Consumpion, Soul Drain, and Dark Obliteration. Heck. . .even though it is single target, Siphon Life is up every 4 seconds.
Thoughts? -
And the other part of the equation is the Radiation Emission powerset. Something about Accelerate Metabolism [PBAoE, Ally +SPD, +Recharge, +Recovery, +DMG +Res(Effects)] and Enervating Field [Toggle: Ranged (Targeted AoE), Foe -DMG, -Res] being at work. Surely adding 25% damage and reducing the target's resistance by 30% means damage is being dealt, more if Assault is had.
-
Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention, but did somebody non-ironically suggest Brutes were among the least damaging ATs in the game?
As goes Rad/Elec. . .well, my first character in CoH after beta ended was a Rad/Elec and the notion that it deals substandard damage is. . . .
They were joking, right? -
Water/Time Corruptor.
Tried it on the test server and loved it. -
I just started a Grav/Energy last Friday and while a bit straightforward at lower levels, he's been enjoyable enough through his first 26 levels. Wormhole is awfully darned nice as a pulling tool what with not pissing off foes you miss and stunning ones you do. In my last session with him I had a ton of fun dropping foes in the middle of the pack of robots the Mastermind I was running with had with him.

Elecrtical Armor as your secondary gives you a lot to work with. Is it the best secondary? No, I am not saying that. But I feel it should be strongly considered as one of the best as the powerset gives you an incredible bag of tools to work with.
You get high resists, virtual immunity to energy attacks and endurance draining, the equivalent of a Recharge SO in all your powers, an endurance recovery/drain power, a heal/max hp power which lowers the cost of all your powers for a period of time.
I went Dark Melee with my signature brute and am very happy with his ability to wade into a crowd, deal massive damage, survive the attacks, and come out with full health and endurance while using only SOs so far. -
What to pair with Electric Armor? Dark Melee, on a Brute.
Really.
Your survivability will be covered by Siphon Life being up every 3 seconds combined with the high resists Electric Armor brings. Lightning Field being backed by Fury and Soul Drain will be happily grinding down anything that is standing close. Energize will be your tool for handling alpha strikes with the bonus that it lowers your endurance consumption for 30 seconds. Dark Consumption will be used regularly because Lightning Reflexes invites you to grab Hasten and the combination of the two means you'll be cycling your attacks quickly enough to otherwise drain you.
The only downside is the relative lack of AoEs, but you have Lightning Field running and Shadow Maul in the middle of a group is an easy tool to make hit multiple targets (choose target, take a half step back, activate).
Icing are little things like being mostly resistant to energy attacks, endurance drains, and slows. When you get to your Epic pool choices you can either go Soul or Mu Mastery. I went with Soul Mastery to pick up Gloom, Darkest Night, and Dark Obliteration but if you are inclined for more AoE damage Mu may suit your tastes better.
I have played the combo up to 50 on SOs and it feels every bit as powerful as pre-ED DM/Inv ever did on a Scrapper with the bonus you are harder to kill and don't run out of endurance. Indeed, you'll find yourself coming close to struggling only when there aren't enough enemies around.
