I have come up with this.
I have:
S/L/E/N/Ranged defenses between 25 and 27. This, with FS or DN should softcap to most incoming damage.
Hasten down to 8s downtime
TT converted to "Tenebrous Proctacles". Soul Drain has also Build Up proc and End proc...my past experiences tell me that D/D is an end hog, this may help, even if I lose some raw damage
Had to use Ragnarok on Nightfall.
Moonbeam is a mule set. Between Gloom and Drain Life (plus Dark Miasma stuff) I should have enough ST chain to be able to skip Dark Blast. If needed, I can use TT or NF during ST combat. If I exemplar too low...well, thats why we have several builds :P
PG is 90% mule, but is still a good power to have, lost Soul Transfer
In the end, I would love another Rech in Tar Patch and HT, perma-hasten, and bring defenses close to 30, but slots are not infinite :P

With EVERYTHING turned off -- even Critical Hit, which can't be slotted, it shows 60.4% smashing defense.
With every single IO removed from the build, Mid's shows 30% smashing defense (30% to all, actually.)
THE SAME Mid's on the same computer works normally with all my own builds, both before and after loading your build. -
If you want to try /time for AV soloing, may I recommend Sonic Blast for the stacking -res component?

I started this game playing a Dark/Dark/Dark Defender which I loved, specially when grouping. But it killed me how pitiful the damage was, even if it was nearly impossible to kill, even on SOs after the ED. I left he game before the villain cap was raised to 50
I came back shortly after freedom, stayed Premium for a while, then went VIP. I learned (and Im still learning) about IOing, sets, procs, whatever. I rolled a few characters, I enjoyed some more than other (fire/kin troller, bot/traps mm, demon/dark mm, ill/cold troller, plant/psy dom, elec/elec dom, fire/tw tank, stj/wp scrap)...some are 50, some are not, a few got deleted. As you see I've been bussy :P
The thing is, no character has "clicked" me like my old D3. I tried picking it back, made a new SO build (this time with inherent fitness)...and as before, it was really safe, but slow. So I thought about making the mirror one, and so rolled a Dark/Dark corruptor. TT+Nightfall+Scourge is just a beauty. Bonus points if Tar Patch is active. Currently at level 25ish after 3 days of casual playing.
I tried putting a good IO build, but I have failed miserably. I wanted to aim for softcap ranged, but I realized that with FS, fluffy, DN, and dark blast -tohit I dont really need hit, so tried to get some more aoe/melee def, just in case. And I also wanted perma hasten, I might be asking for too much
This is my build. It has some empty slots. I've tried to do it 3 or 4 times, but I always end up missing something, defenses, slotting, key powers, recharge... Any help?
Budget is good. If possible, avoid using full purples sets, but I will get them if they are necesary. 2 bill ios, I can afford 2 or 3, but Id rather not, I have more chars to IO! :P

Im either rolling a Dark/Time troller or Dark/Dark dom. I think Dark/Time/Soul could be stupidly powerful
How is the damage at lower/higher levels? I solo quite a lot, specially when testing new characters, and one thing that keeps pushing me back against controllers is the bad damage. I guess that with the strong inmob and the early pet (level 18?) it wont be so bad -

Stalker is the "sneaky, gonna stab you HARD" character
Scrapper is a pure melee character, good damage, can crit (change for double damage), and good armour.
Tanker is, well, a tank. Very robust and hard to kill, meh damage
Brute is the middle of the road between Scrapper and Tanker. Lower hp/mitigation than tank, lower damage than scrappers. Better damage than tanks, better survivability than scrappers. They build a "fury" bar by hit and being hit that improves their damage
The choice is yours. Good sets for armor: Willpower, Regen, Invul, Elec (not sure if this will be available for you) Good melee sets...almost anything. Katana and dark melee have really nice perks.
By being purely free you can level 1-50 with no problems at all. Anyway I recomend spending a few bucks to get access to tells and supergroups. Buying one month VIP is enough -
I would say that Demons and Robots are the most resistant pets. Demons get res buffs, Robots get def buffs.
My 50 Demon/Dark is a beast. My lowie Bots/Traps also looks promising -

I think I will go for Fire/Time. But a later stage (probably in a few months when my gf gets a new computer and I try to make her enjoy this game and stop playing that lotro crap

For now, Im rerolling my old main, a dark/dark defender, as a corruptor. I loved that char, it was so powerful (SO times, before and after ED), but the lack of damage always made me cry. Hopefully with scourging tentacles and nightfall this will change

Dark Miasma. Is just too plain awesome. My first char, my first 50, was a Dark/Dark/Dark defender. Currently being rerrolled as a corruptor, I have had enough of the low damage

I checked Elec and Psy and dismissed them, too. I dont like the power selections.
On the other hand, Rad seems good. It has 3 ST blasts for 1-2-3 punching, a PBAoE, and and a TAoE (im guessing Neutron Bomb works just like Fireball?). And the -def sounds tasty. I would love a rain power tho
I played a bit with Mids, basically replicating the Fire build with Rad (was easy, I remembered everything), and got some nice numbers (I really need t go back to the Ice build, it should have the same possibilities).
So at least I narrowed down to Fire, Ice, or Rad. Not badI guess fire would be the more damaging one, rad the debuffing one, and ice the "you are slowed into oblivion along with /time) set. Any comments on your experiences with these sets, please?

EDIT: This build needs some slight changes. I didnt check the exact enhances I of each set for most of them, just put whatever I clicked first. For Example, X-Ray Beam would get the build up proc. I just wanted to see def and recharge numbers, and a general idea of the power choices

Im rolling a Stj/WP now and it feels great. Do not worry about the specific Build Up - Hitting Combat Readiness - Spinning Strike - 3 builders - other finisher just obliterates any spawn. Heck, the initial Spinning Strike will kill any minion on a crit, and im at level 29 with only 3 slots on each attack.
Also the set has some goodies: Does not need recharge, most attacks do "something" for you other than damage (knockdow, -res, -def), specially the aoe knockdown which buys you some time for the regen to kick.

I ended un trashing the idea of Sonic. The powerset seems fine, but I dont stand the graphics. Either as shouts or as blasts, they look meh to me (no offense intended). Also I want some aoe power than a narrow cone.
Already played with mids a bit, did an Ice/Time (not bad, but couldnt get perma chronoshift, even with one purple set...need reworking) and a fire/time that simply looked...great. Perma everything, all defenses above 35 (except psy, which is at 30 or so) without powerboost, and not very expensive. I even have 2 extra slots (that I temporarily put as a heal proc in flares and def lotg in combat jumping). This is from memory so numbers may be a bit off, but the fire build was miles better than the ice one.
Fire seemed better damage and aoe (fireball + rain + breath) agains the safer ice (slows everywhere) and slight less damage and aoe (breath + rain). I got the Ice nuke, but not the Fire one
The /time set looks just wonderful. Every single power seems good, I would have problems if I had to skip any. In both builds I ended taking the full time set
I will have a look at elec/psy/rad and try making a build for them.

Most of the "hard" badges have been "nerfed" (like the healing ones or damage taken, etc....) so it's not that hard to get it on a non-healing/empathy toon/etc...

BTW, why is that of the praetorian character? Im guessing there are also badges that a praetorian cannot get and a primal can? -
IF you roll Tank, bear in the mind that the TW Taunt requires your weapon to be out. Otherwise, it will cause redraw. Is killing my Fire/TW to the point Im considering rerolling as a brute (or a less clicky primary)

You will need those for the TF commander accolade, anyway
Other TFs:
Moonfire (23+)
Ernesto Hess (25+) (needs to be unlocuked by finishing Striga SAs)
TFs are your best bet -

This. When you are starting and learning, buy batches of 2, 3, 5 at most. Sooner or later some recipe will crash on you, and you dont want that to happen when you are starting your career and are short of founds. And if it happens, it will happen with a small number (2, 3, 5), and easy to recover.
Other that what Fulmens said, other 2 good sets to learn are perfomance shifter: end red/end mod, and efficacy adaptor. They are not expensive, and will net you low but steady profit -
Thanks for your answers! The AT is not a problem, I like most of them, Im just trying to find a powerset combo that "clicks" me to say "I want to play this character more and more and more and.." you get me :P
I was asking about other stuff. You gave me a good idea (keep a bunch of temp powers or second utility build). How do you keep trace of your badges? I only have VidiotMaps installed. I also installed HeroStats, but barely use it.
