I was looking at the vet rewards to see what I get for 48 months and something struck me as odd. When we got extra character slots I read that we got an extra slot for every year played. Indeed, I got 3 slots plus the bonus 2 for logging in within the specified time frame. Now, The way I read it was that we got one every year, not as a one off gift, but it appears that the only slot I get is for the 60 month reward. Can someone clarify this for me please?

Excellent guide. Now I realise how badly I've been playing all these years, I'll play to your guide from now on

There is only one major fix for bases, along with a SG fix.
Storage containers now have rank based permissions for each storage container. So each container can be set so specific ranks can add or remove items from that storage container.

Will this be of any use to you?

hadn't seen that before. A little late for my particular problem but welcome for others security. -

I agree with your comments guys, but I did (stupidly) put in the message of the day what I had done and that it was to help with crafting recipes not for selling, and not to be greedy. I was so tired after all the converting i didn't really want to log in lots of alts to put into the vault. I had intended myself and the other leader to do it within the next couple of days. My leader alt's vault storage was full of my own salvage that I was saving for some sets I had recently bought. Unfortunately the offending member got in there before i could.

In that case then, grab your torches and pickforks ladies and gentlemen!!!! Its noobhunting time!

If I knew where the offending member lived I'd use more than a pitchfork -
And what other criteria can you put on members for promotion to use facilities? Too harsh and people leave, too lenient and you might as well not have permissions in the first place. Myself and my co-leader took over when the original SG creator left and we agreed to keep the requirements for promotion at the levels that had worked before we took over. Prestige is an indicator that someone is willing to work to pay for the convenience of base facilities. To be honest, one bad apple will always spoil it for everybody else. The rest of the SG members who have contacted me in the last couple of days are as shocked and annoyed as I was. It hasn't stopped me from loving this game and the community. I still think it is one of the best out there.

I know we aren't allowed to name and shame so I have to speak in general terms......
Our SG has always been open and friendly, but recently we have had the problem others have had in that a recently promoted member has stolen a lot of stuff from base storage.
I spent ages converting base salvage to invention storage and put it into storage containers. The next day I was looking at the log and saw that 150 of the most expensive rare salvage had been taken by one member who then left the SG. It was all the hamidon goo, pangean soil, impervium etc that I had intended to spread through the members who need it.
Now, I understand the argument that i shouldn't have left the permissions active to prevent this from happening, but it needed 2 promotions to get to the access level (based on prestige accumulated) and the inspiration storage and enhancement storage is something we all use a lot. The log shows that people use them regularly so my point becomes, we need more fine control of permissions. Before, when someone stole base salvage it was annoying but not really that profitable. Now, if someone is of a thieving bent it is possible to steal millions of inf worth of salvage. We need the three storages with seperate permissions so that we can choose the level of access for each of them, not a blanket permission of yes or no for all of them.
I was against the change in salvage when it was introduced, and nothing has changed my mind towards thinking it was a good idea. -
As we are all waiting with baited breath for the release of issue 14 I thought I'd share some jokes a friend sent me today. Has anyone got any others?
* Why have estate agents stopped looking out of the window in the morning?
Because otherwise they'd have nothing to do in the afternoon
*As a surprise, a chief exec's wife pops by his office. She finds him in an unorthodox position, with his secretary sitting in his lap. He's so depressed he's stopped his motorcade and is threatening to douse himself with petrol and set himself on fire. He says it's because people blame him for the credit crunch. So we're taking up a collection for him.'
The man asks: 'How much have you got so far?'
The officer replies: 'About 40 gallons, but a lot of people are still siphoning.'
* Gordon Brown, Alistair Darling and Peter Mandelson are flying to a world economic summit. Peter looks at Alistair and chuckles: 'You know, I could throw a £50 note out of the window right now and make somebody very happy.'
Alistair shrugs his shoulders and says: 'Well, I could throw five £10 notes out of the window and make five people very happy.
' Gordon says: 'Of course, but I could throw ten £5 notes out of the window and make ten people very happy.'
The pilot rolls his eyes, looks at all of them, and says: 'Listen, how about if I throw all of you out of the window and make the whole country happy.'

And its not as if a download is that easy an option. It takes many hours to download a file as big as CoX even if you are really panting for it. I downloaded LOTR and WOW at seperate times and it took about 2 days for each. Considering they were on my hard drive for less than a day for WOW and an hour for LOTR I wouldn't be happy taking that long to download anything again.
-
So in other words, they are yet again relying on people searching the internet for interesting things to download rather than having nice shiny boxes in nice shiny stands in major game shops for the casual walk past buyer to go "oooooo that looks fun" the way I did. Ive only ever gone on a gaming web site to look at a link off this forum. I buy games magazines and SFX quite regularly and wouldn't have purchased this game if I hadn't seen the box. To be honest, I wouldn't know the game existed even now if I relied on ads and articles.
The best online game out there and they miss the opportunity yet again to revitalise the EU market. Even the people in my local Game shop didn't know this game exists. They looked at me blankly when I mentioned it the other day. No wonder some people think we in the EU are treated like poor relations. -

As was stated above, when Brighton got the axeman there was no official statement from a redname for days. People started asking how the sackings would affect the european player base and ended up putting forth hypothetical scenarios about the options available to us. Eventually we got a redname response and the waves became calm again.
However, the OP did shoot himself in the foot a bit by posting his thread at the end of the week rather than the beginning. Weekends are traditionally when the trolls come out and after several months of weekend doom posts I don't think anyone can be blamed for thinking this was another one and being sharp with the poor unfortunate who started it.
If you are new to the forums and have a question about this sort of thing then feel free to send a private message to a redname. They are quite friendly and don't bite. Unless you ask them to nicely -
I always reply but its not always convenient to reply instantly. When soloing I can be up to my eyebslls in minions smacking me and have to finish them off first. I find it better to wait until I can say something polite rather than just a one word answer which can appear to be a rude reply. The only time I send a very short reply is if I am in a team and there is space I send "1 sec" then reply after asking the team leader if we can invite.
I agree that it can appear rude to not have a reply to a tell but there are sometimes circumstances where the tell gets overlooked. The player may be afk and the tell scrolls up so they don't see it, or they may get several tells during a fight and only reply to the one that came in last not realising there were others. I've done stupid things like chatting to a friend and sending a wildly odd comment to someone else I hadn't realised had just sent me a tell
I don't think many people are intentionally rude, I just think that the majority have valid reasons for not replying. -
I'd just be happy to have the base editor actually working properly. My villain base still looks a mess as I deleted a load of stuff to rearrange it when I upgraded the plot only to find out most of the stuff I want to place is in a wall or below the floor.

See the 2nd line of my previous post Extremus, -I appreciate a skeleton staff are staying, -I appreciate they are refocusing EU.side on marketing etc, but If whats left of NCsoft Europe or any remote NC Soft(U.S) support do struggle to provide the same quality (or better) of In-game support if servers stay where they are, It won't really amount to much will it.

sorry dear heart, but what marketing? A few ads on some websites that the majority of people never see doesn't exactly qualify as trying very hard.
And as an aside, if you are annoyed then it means things are really in trouble. I've always loved your enthusiasm and gentle words. I think this is the closest I've ever seen you come to banging your head against a wall in frustration. Now I'm worried -
Don't user created missions give zero rewards? I'm sure I read somewhere that you gain no xp, inf or prestige for playing them. I might be wrong though, if someone could clarify it for me.

#4: Talshak the mystic, (as you may or may not know), walked barefoot most of his career, like most mystics, - which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little due to his remote position down in Grendals Gultch in The Hollows, this made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him .... (Oh, deary me! this is so bad, it's good) .... A super calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

Strange that there has been no official reply to this thread by now. Usually someone pops in to squash these types of rumour and locks the thread rather quickly......
My preference would be for them to add new servers to the US and transfer the data piecemeal. That way we keep everything and just get a longer server list to pick from.
If they can't do that I'd be ok with a free server transfer for all my alts, a passport badge and a month or 2 free play.
If we just got a new account to restart I wouldn't bother. Even if they added the value of all my alts together and let me start with the inf value of all the enhancements and saved inf on the first alt I created plus all my vet rewards, plus the prestige value of the SG base I wouldn't be interested. I've spent a lot of time playing this game (2 months off 4 years) and invested a lot into the alts I have. The level 50s I've kept are all special to me. Each of them has memories of certain times of my life in Paragon and the thought of having to remake them is unnaceptable.
I think that if they go for the lazy third option, or a 4th where we get nothing except a new account they will shed most of the EU population within seconds of the announcement. -

That's not particularly baffling. In the USA that's a pretty derogatory term for the Japanese. It is however, a perfectly ordinary word in every day usage in the UK with a perfectly benign meaning so there is absolutely no reason for it to be on the banned list for UK players.

Not the full story.
Nip is also used as a racial slur in British English, not merely in US English.
Nip has a few meanings (as many short words do... that's linguistic evolution for ya) including to break or cut (e.g. nip in the bud) and a drop of alcoholic beverage - which are uses that (for all I know) may be used in US english.
i.e. Used in a derogatory sense it isn't just US english and used in a harmless sense may not be just British English.

I can't say that I have heard many people (or any to be honest) use the word nip as a racial epithet. If people want to use a racial epithet round here they use other equally mild ones. We do use nip for going somewhere though. As in " could you just nip up the shop and get me some ****" (which was my idle dads favourite).

I once commented that my team mates MM zombies attack looked awesome. It was just something like "That vomit attack looks brilliant" and it blocked the word vomit. I was a bit annoyed as the word was actually in the description text of the power.
And it looked like I was swearing.
And it turned out the guy I was teamed with was 12 years old to my 40.
And his mum was watching him play, got offended and had a bit of a go at me. We sorted it out in the end though

I had a great weekend, got a warshade from 1 to 32, a controller to 15 and this morning I managed to get my MM from 25 to 28 with seconds to spare. I dinged and the server closed for maintenance before the buffs had worn off
So how did everyone else do? did you find it easy to get a team or were you frantically sending repeat tells to people hoping one would get through without the /tell bug. I had so many broken tells I actually put in my search comment that I reply to all tells and if I haven't please resend till I do
