Base Editor, nudge nudge....

You can do some seriously interesting things with the base builder these days, since I13.

However... Getting the more interesting things done requires taking a 15 minute detour into stacking other items on each other to get yourself a 'working surface' to hang items on.

Now, IIRC, each space in a base room is divided into something like 32x32 grid points horizontally, and however many vertically.

What I'd like to suggest is a set of 'nudge' keys that would shift the currently selected base item one grid division north, south, east, west, up or down. (Posibly also add an extra Shift+Nudge key option to move 10 grid divisions at a time.)

Bingo, no more stacking huge numbers of floor safes, wall lights or ceiling lights in order to get your ceiling domes floating in the middle of the room, or to stick your Zone Beacons to their respective teleporters etc. etc.

Basically, it is my humble contention that such nudge functionality would save huge amounts of time in base editing, and remove a large section of the sometimes very steep learning curve that goes with the base editor at the moment.

(PS, let us have double width doorways between rooms, too :P )

Great idea, makes perfect sense, and would be really useful

I'd just be happy to have the base editor actually working properly. My villain base still looks a mess as I deleted a load of stuff to rearrange it when I upgraded the plot only to find out most of the stuff I want to place is in a wall or below the floor.

Items already have a location description to them, otherwise they wouldn't excist as 'material' things.
If we were to get access to that information and be allowed to edit it, we could make the bases more easily then with trail and error.
And as 'gravity' seems be off, there's no more constraints in that department, though a 'drop to surface' button would be great, just in case.

Ideally you would be able to edit the numbers, but it would very likely produce some nasty side effects without a load of other added features. It's a non-trivial, but highly desireable feature.

It would be nice to have a few tweaks to the editor, definately. I definately /sign the nudge idea. Also, much more freedom to do with walls, extending them, thickness and doorway size would be a really nice feature.
Actual doors? One can but dream
