  1. I loathe the new login/title screen.

Statesman vs. Generic Robot #248b is frigging snoresville. Horrible, horrible choice art team. The fan creations in here are tons better. Please take note.
  2. A somewhat slower solo path is a good idea, since teams aren't always available, or you may want to do a trial nobody else does.
  3. I'm all for zone revamps. I think it makes sense to start at low level zones and work up.

High level folk have plenty of new stuff to do with the itrials and whatnot. Ideally, there'd be a new zone revamps blue side and redside and a new zone goldside (Praetoria, do we call it gold/yellowside?) working up to Peregrine Island and Grandville.

Obviously some hero zones don't need an overhaul (Faultline, RWZ) but a lot of them are begging for it. boomtown is the ugliest, stupidest place ever. Dark Astoria could be awesome, but right now it's just lame. Same for Crey's Folley.

Sharkhead Isle and Port Oakes could really use some new life. Heck, even Mercy Island could use a little bit more oomph. I mean, atlas got a total plastic surgery overhaul. Mercy just got a bit of makeup slapped on there.

I'd say if CoH wants to continue to survive, to say nothing of thriving, every zone needs to be given a massive redo on par with what happened in Atlas, if not more.

I realize that may be an unrealistic expectation, but I'd love to see it. Going into Atlas for i21 was just...it was awesome. It felt like a new game, but with all the stuff I love still there and refined.

You mentioned the Devs forgot about the RP aspect, well you seem to have forgotten the MMO aspect. What you're talking about is really, extremely trivial. Basically anything the Devs could do with their time would be better than spending it on fixing this. I mean, I understand you, I get the complaint. but if 95% of what you RP is in your head, why can't that include the dialogue response?

    For example:

It says in-game, "You got it Statesman! I'm gonna give Lord Recluse the biggest smackdown! Oh yeah!"

In your head you translate that to, "Aye, Statesman. I shalt pound Recluse like a tent peg into the bowels of the Earth itself. Vae victus!"

And as you also said, you aren't making an effort. And as somebody else said, that's your problem. This is a problem you can fix yourself. If you can't you aren't much of an RP'er. *shrug*
  5. I'm generally for more options rather than less, but you need to think about time investment vs. payout.

Making larger models would mean a ton of peripheral work: checking costume pieces, checking doors in maps, in the case of the huge female it would mean animating a whole new model for powers, etc etc. That's a ton of work for what is essentially a niche cosmetic request.

    I don't think so.
  6. Awful, awful, AWFUL idea.

While some powers can be purchased (Beam Rifle) they still have to be EARNED after purchase. Skipping the earning stage is pointless. If you don't want to play the game, don't play the game.
  7. Might have to roll my toon for this sometime tonight.
  8. I would love to, but I live in South Korea so my time table is seriously wonky. What time do you guys usually meet?
  9. On the subject of this, I've got a real stand-up, neutral-good Kheldian, an Angel, a perverted desert sorcerer, a friendly elf-girl, a former Praetorian Loyalist-turned-Primal-Earth-Protector, a female Arbiter-turned-hero (when she reaches lvl 20 anyway), and a smart-mouthed robot all looking for RP SGs.
  10. 1) Villain only content. Redside is the red-headed step-child of the CoX universe. It really hasn't gotten any specific attention since VEATS came out. All the co-op TFs are crap. i mean, they're fun and cool, but from a villain's story/RP standpoint they suck. Throw in another island in the RI, or a more villains TF/SF in the RWZ or Cimerora.

    2) Freaking back costume options. People have been asking for this for years, and it's got to be easier that power customization. Give us backpacks, jetpacks, quivers, sword sheathes, etc etc already. Geez.

    3) The next level or two of the Incarnate system.

That'd be it. I know that's a lot, but based on previous updates, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility.
  11. This sounds really neato. I've got a character, The Steam Punk MK1, that would be perfect.
  12. Pack fail. bought everything prior to this. This one is a really poor deal compared to everything else NC SOFT has put out. You guys can do better.
  13. Echoing Zombie Man's points and voting Option 1.

  15. I have specifically avoided reading the thread so I can come at this unbiased. I'm going to watch your video and that's it, posting as I watch it. Here we go...

    *PLAY*

Sweats and t-shirt, personal details about life ("My new apartment"), unprofessional, amateur hour.

Anthropomorphic sword is gimmicky and the back and forth serves no purpose but to appear funny. It isn't. If it's a review, review. Don't make the viewer sit through a meaningless back-and-forth with a cheap set piece.

"Sucks hard," is unprofessional. It cuts into your chops as a reviewer when you're using base, personal type language without specific. Why did it suck hard? Explain. you've lot a ton of credibility and the video hasn't even been going a minute.

...okay, better now. you're talking about the game. It's a mystery why it's taken you almost two minutes to do this.

Ugh. a webcomic plug...seriously? Shameless. This is a review about the game, keep it about the game. Credibility has taken another nosedive as this is starting to look more like a "Look at me!" video than a legitimate review of a product with the purpose of informing the public on its pros and cons. You are off to a pretty rocky start.

"Run around the world too ****** much," is again, needless and unprofessional. I don't know if you're trying to be funny of if it's just unconscious. If the former, it isn't funny. If the latter, work on consciously avoiding swearing needlessly. This, coupled with your "I just fell out of bed" appearance, makes you look and sound like just some random gamer. there are millions of those already. Why should I listen to you? what separates you from the other sweatpant-clad foul-mouthed masses? So far, nothing. Except a dumb plastic sword with googly eyes.

10-20 minutes to run to a contact is a gross exaggeration. It's never taken me that long to reach a contact. If you're going to level a charge at a game, make it accurate. Hyperbole really doesn't have a place in a factual review. Which is a shame because you still have a valid point about traveling between contacts to get missions, but the information you give is off by a wide margin, and your melodramatic delivery. "Nothing! Nothing! Zilch!" etc. Brevity is the soul of wit. Say it and move on.

"Your character blows hard," see above statements regarding unprofessional language. At this point you're sounding like a teenager who has just finished a South Park binge. Now, I like swearing and using colorful language, but that's in casual conversation with people I know. Using that kind of vocabulary in a review of a product aimed at complete strangers is tacky. However, you do bring up what to some might be a valid point about the enhancements.

Ah-ha, major flaw. You compare CoH to WoW. When reviewing something, review it on its own merits and faults. Don't knock points off because it isn't like product X or give it points because it resembles Product Y. At that point it ceases to be a review and becomes a comparison.

Points against the instanced maps and AV fights are good things to point out and you give sound reasoning for your displeasure.

Ugh, you're comparing WoW again. Stop it. It isn't WoW, no game is, except WoW itself.

"Motnonous" or whatever word you're attempting to use instead of "monotony" at 8:27 is another ding against your credibility. Likewise, you've mentioned "bad game design" several times now. While as a reviewer reviewing a game, I'm willing to listen to your opinion on "Is this game fun and entertaining?" because that's a question the average joe can answer. Bringing up game design is a tangent to that main idea, and one that makes me question what background or authority you have to pronounce any form of game design "bad." As you present no credentials or examples of your authority on the subject, you once again lose credibility as a reviewer.

"This offends my 'keep it simple' approach to game design." Why do we care about your game design philosophy? We don't. We care if the game is fun or not. you have gone off topic to talk about yourself and your beliefs regarding game creation. Nobody cares. Anybody watching this video wants to hear your opinions about the game itself, not your approach to game design. Follow your own advice and keep the review simple, and on topic.

Your complaints about the fitness pool powers such as health and stamina are fair and you back them up accordingly. however, recently the developers made an announcement that these powers would be inherent in a coming update, somewhat negating your complaint. This shows you didn't "Fact check" your review, something any professional publication or reviewer/critic does. Granted, this was a very recent announcement, but I see the video was posted a couple days or so after it was made.

Now you are going on about suggestions to fix the game, making this no longer a review, but a "Here's what I think," video. Critics and reviewers (good ones) don't do this. They say if something was good or bad, give evidence for their opinions, and call it a day. They do not give theoretical examples about "How I would have done it." Once again you're making it about you, and nobody really cares about you. not in a mean way, you just aren't a celebrity or other notable personality. I'd say the same thing to somebody working for GameTrailers or PC Gamer. The people working there aren't famous celebrities whose personal opinions get headline space. neither are yours, and therefore have no place in the review.

Annnd I've seen enough. I gave it until over the halfway mark and you just keep repeating the same mistakes.

END VERDICT: Unprofessional, sloppy vanity project with no real meat to it, or worthwhile insights. Facts presented are either false, exaggerated, or otherwise incorrect.
  16. Anybody seriously still complaining about the free inherent fitness pool needs to go soak your head and shut up. there is actually no downside to it.

If you are already using the fitness pool on a build and have it slotted, having it inherent and slotted isn't going to change anything except giving you three empty spots for 3 new powers which you do not have to slot at all. nobody is forcing you. Anybody saying "But this is going to make my build really hard/tight for slots!" well, that's only true if you consider your current build really hard, or tight for slots.

Those of you who don't use the fitness pool? cool. don't slot it, don't ENH it. Leave it alone. You'll get a marginal constant buff at no extra cost.

Those of you who say it will make things too easy are likely min/maxers and I thought the entire reason you min/max is to make your character as uber as possible, which this will help you do.

    So shhhhhh.
Your complaints are groundless and invalid. Get over it.

Again sorry for shortness and typos on my phone still. So I have only briefly gone over the thread can't believe its 14 pages.

Was the Party Pack addressed at all?
Also, thanks so much for the updates. You rock!

COH is making money. COH2 might not, and could harm COH's ability to make money. Worth noting that Asheron's Call 2 failed as well!

In all honesty - even half the money and resources it would take to make a City of Heroes sequel could make City of Heroes a LOT better without splitting the player base, or blocking off players due to higher system requirements, etc.
That's a great article and you have a solid point. Now I'm actually hoping that there will never be a CoH 2, but rather just a CoH 2.0
  21. This is old news but in light of recent events it makes for an amusing read.

I don't think i20 is going to be CoH2. I think it'll have some cool, big changes, but I don't think it will revolutionize the game or bring it up to next-gen standards. that said, I would LOVE to be wrong.

I think his statement of confusion was more tied to the alpha-enabled/alpha strike portion of the bullet point.

Alpha Strike is, presumably, the name of the TF/Issue. Alpha Enabled means, I'm guessing here, that any character who plays it needs to have the alpha slot of the incarnate system enabled in order to participate in it.

That's just conjecture on my part though.
