Expressions of Interest: Sci Fi Heavy RPSG
A question:
When you call it the United Earth Defense Core, do you mean "Core" like the middle of something, or "Corps" like Marine Corps? I know Corps has a P and an S but it's pronounced the same as Core. just wanted to check.
What would the ship's uniform look like? Would characters who are entirely robotic need to wear one?

Entirely robotic characters probably wouldn't need to wear them, but they'd all need to conform to a general technological theme (Don't want three different robot characters all looking vastly different if they're all supposed to be rather similar.) I'll play around with the costume creator and see if I can't put something up.
Interesting Idea, back before COV I made a Tank with a similar background, although he was also about forty thousand years in his past, when COV came out I rerolled him a Mastermind, and he is a ton of fun.
And yes he is a screaming 40k reference since he is based on my Inquisitor.
...Inquisitor H. Tiburon and the Space Sharks... I should give my Army some TLC soon.
I could do this. Unless this turns out to suck. But yeah, I'll roll.
@The Spartan
@The Mercenary
we'll talk.
...can I be a space ninja?
I'm at @Emperor Justin if you decide to get this off the ground.
Also, it would be neat if you could post ideas for the various uniforms. And I have another question! Is the lore for this SG idea you've got set in stone, or are there some gaps that other members may eventually contribute to?
I'll be starting to PM you all in the near future, as well as probably rewriting some of the backstory. It's not set in stone yet, and suggestions are welcome.
The first issue is going to be prestige. I'm tempted to say the first toons we roll should both conform to the story, etc, and be a superteam to smash through content and rack up the prestige. Thoughts?
Expect to hear from me soon.
I'd be fine with that. Just roll some toons, get the initial sign-up bonuses, etc.
Alright, I'll be starting a Mercs/Something (Probably traps) MM in goldside to bring to blueside asap. I'll be knocking up a virtueverse page as well as some forums for all interested, in the meantime if you want to roll a new character now, Pm me on the forums with some details and we can talk over concepts, etc.
For all those interested, I've set up some basic forums for use.
http://uedc.freeforums.org/index.php
Take a gander, fill in an application if you're interested, and we'll see if we can get this puppy barking.
I would be really interested if this happened sooner @_@, won't be active enough for this in a couple days onwards, but with the mention of uniforms/costumes i figured i'd help out if you wanted, feel free to change/incorporate any of these;
just to point out, the top row was meant for engine/hangar room crew/technicians with the end suit being a heavy lifter.. or heavy hitter, bottom left could be a combat droid, bottom right probably a decorated commander of sorts, augmented for communication among his personel hence the circuitry/visor but wanted to keep a victorian/navy look.
i dont have any file hostage going so cant get the costume files up unfortunately but i do have them saved, let me know ingame or here if you want them.
global is @Haemoncul
Some decent costume ideas there, thanks, I might incorporate some of the themes into the set designs.
This actually sounds really interesting. I wouldn't mind getting into this.
ATs to 50 - TA/A Def, Nrg/Nrg Blaster, EM/EA Brute, WS,ELM/ELA Stalker
I'd be up for Robo-something. Though I would most likely use clockwork parts for the core and then maybe mix up the gloves/boots to get some sort of unique look.
@saice
ps HAL is my father, GLaDOS is my mother, and HK-47 is my homie.
Edit.... Oh here is a basic quicky based on your above ones for what I'd might do as a bot/droid in such a crew.
Take a look at our forums and put in an application if you want.
Hm, I'm having a really tough time deciding on a character concept. I've been trying to steer away from "Experiment!" because I know I'd probably think of something really weird and possibly theme-breaking if I traveled down that road, but at this point it may be the only one I can think of anything for.
So long as no one minds, I suppose that's my best bet then? Just tell me what sort of things you definitely don't want, and I'll see what I can work with.

-Traditional superheroes
-Non military toons
-mutants
-aliens
Throw me a PM on here and run me through your ideas and I'll offer some feedback if you want.
Damn, no aliens.
Cross posting this from your forums so the information can all be in one thread here. The ship's organizations:
Ship Security Division:
Black Armored, heavy hitting, these are the men and women who patrol the ship and keep it safe from within.
United Earth Marine Corps. (UEMC):
Essentially the ground troopers, first in, last out of any hostile situation. Can participate in ground action and boarding action.
Technicians:
Sometimes hairy, sometimes smelly, these are the men and women who maintain the ship and equipment for the military. Need a weapon repaired? Need some fancy new tech? These are the people to speak to.
Artificial Intelligence Legion:
A horde of combat droids, sometimes operating individually, sometimes with support from a more intelligent and aggressive droid, sometimes with help from a technician, these brave groups deploy where the fighting is hottest and ruthlessly mow down all opposition.
Covert Operations:
A shadowy branch within the military, there are a few operatives on board who specialize in espionage and military intelligence.
War Mage Division:
Realizing that some foes fear fireballs more than bullets, the UEDC started enlisting magic users into their ranks. Sometimes a little eccentric, but they get the job done.
Section 7:
Section 7 houses the results of military experiments, cyborg hybrids and various other super soldiers. May or may not be given limited access to the ship depending on stability.
I had a couple of questions about these. They mostly seem to be combat-centric, but there's a lot more stuff on a ship than just fighting. Will there/can there be a medical corps type branch? A science division (though this might fit under engineering, I'm thinking more like how Spock was some kind of Science officer, and Scotty was engineering)? Can mages specialize in something besides war? Is the robot division capable of anything besides fighting? Could a robot be a part of the Marines?
I know that's a lot of questions, but I'm interested and don't want to make a toon under a false assumption or mess with the lore or anything. Fun stuff so far!
Also, for anybody designing a toon, the uniform colors are apparently dark green, dark gray, dark blue, and black. Sorry if this info was posted already and I missed it.
I've been kicking around an idea for a Military Sci Fi RPSG for a while and I'm interested in seeing how many people would potentially be interested before I start setting it up.
The rough concept goes something like this.
----
In 2010 a spacial rift was detected above the Earth. Vanguard forces were put on alert and began tracking the object that emerged with various long ranged weaponry. Heroes and Villains alike around the world paused in their day to day life, expecting the worst, another Rikti mothership, or at long last The Coming (soon)Storm.
High in orbit the Heavy Cruiser Liberty Ascendant registered weapons tracking it's position and prepared its own weapons, prepared to decimate all threats. Only quick thinking on behalf of Positron, who opened up communications with both the ship and Vanguard forces, prevented what would have been an apocalyptic occurrence for both parties.
The Liberty Ascendant was a Heavy Cruiser stationed in Earth orbit in a parallel dimension, serving as a part of that dimensions version of Vanguard, the United Earth Defence Core (UEDC). In their own dimension they detected an unknown object heading for the planet, and after identification and communications failed, they opened up with all the heavy weapons at their disposal. An unknown chain reaction occured causing a rift in space, dragging the ship and the crew to Primal Earth and essentially stranding them there.
After communications moved onto the diplomatic level, the ship and the UN (mainly Vanguard) came to a treaty which allowed the crew free access to the Earth for the purposes of research and materials to attempt to solve the problem of returning home, in exchange for service protecting Paragon City and the Earth from hostile threats.

Every toon in the SG will be required to be heavy RP, every toon will be a member of the UEDC. The UEDC has fighters, technicians, military mages, covert operations, etc. The only group that isn't very common are mutants (Although cyborgs, the end result of military experiments, etc are acceptable).
So, after reading all that, is anyone interested if I were to go ahead, refine and start this?
