playing with a smaller resolution will make everything a bit bigger. if you set the resolution to 1024*768 , the gui and text size..etc will get bigger compared to playing in 1280*1024

On a side note I noticed I am completely unable to dual-box with this computer. I can't even get 1fps if I try loading both instance. I used to do it on a 8800gt so the 5770 should be able to handle it without issues.

I tried the /maxinactivefps and /maxfps tricks but even then it wouldn't render more than 1fps. Anyone got an idea of why that would be?

yeah I got all the parts there and I was planning on going back today when they open. It's kinda sad since I didn't want the 930 at first as the price/performance wasn't justifiable but I was still charged for it ( the guy forgot to change the order back to the 920) yet they had given me the 920 lol. So I went back and got the 930 instead.... which doesn't work now.

when you say the card shut down, are you brought back tot he desktop with sometimes a "Driver stopped responding" error message at the bottom right?

If so, i've been having the same problem for almost 2 years on vista and Windows. If so you could always try the "solution" in the stickied thread. It never worked for me, but some people reported that those solution did fix their issue so hopefully you'll have better luck than I did.

Now I've been with Nvidia for quite some time so I wanted to make sure what I should expect of this ATI. IS there any driver issue I should know about, driver version to avoid..etc?

another small program that works somewhat like an Add-On is CoHLCD. It allows you to have the basic info of your character displayed on the G15 keyboard LCD screen.

It works with Herostats, and displays things like your health/end, xp 2 level, Total influence, it can also be used to track your chat channels so you don't have to keep them on screen at all time.

For a couple of months now i've been having weird issues with CoH.

When my computer just restarted, I can start the game (even 2 instances) without problem and play for quite a while. As soon as I close the game and later try to start it again I start getting major lag, pauses, stuttering and sometimes hard crash where i'm forced to reboot the PC. Sometimes i'll get error from the Nvidia driver. ( Driver stopped responding, or " the driver encountered too many errors and has to be restart") at which point the game is forcefully closed and i'm back at the desktop.

I thought it was the graphic card since I was always getting Nvidia error, so I replaced the 8800gt I had for a 275 a couple months back. Still getting the errors and now also having the computer hard locking during the night I decided to change the PSU to a bigger one (750W). It doesn't lock anymore, so I guess I fixed that but I'm still unable to play CoH correctly.

The only thing I have left to try is an ATI GPU, new mobo and CPU... I am planning on building a new PC so these will indeed get in it but for now i'd like to be able to play reliably without always having to reboot 3 or 4 times.

Anyone got any idea where it could come from? I couldn't see anything strange with Hijackthis. Here it is if anyone can see anything I missed.

Katana alone doesn't allow someone to kill AV.. your secondary is also very important.

I never played /dark but IIRC it's more an +res build and some crowd control.
It might be possible to solo an AV, but they will hit you a lot since you don't have any way to prevent it (no +def). Even with the self heal of Dark, you'll have a hard time keeping up to the damage received.

You can have all the damage you want in the world, but if it only takes 2 hit to kill you, that damage is irrelevant.

They are affected by damage buff so they should take advantage of Rage and such.

if you use the +dam attack (sorry memory blank.. can't remember the name), before the start of a combo, your finishing move for sweep will do more damage, also the ticks from attack vitals will also be a bit higher (in my build it's ticks of 21 instead of 17)

yeah I pretty much soloed Borderland but damn was it fun. It's fun to see a game that clearly doesn't try to be all serious. I got a 40ish sniper which I love. Also playing a siren from time to time.

Anyway, I seriously thinking of buying a new PC for GR. Mine pretty much hate CoH right now... it's the only game I can't play. I keep crashing and crashing and rebooting..etc. Only thing I haven't tried yet is a new motherboard and CPU. Everything else is new and I still crash.

the answer is simple

Steam cannot update the game client for CoH since CoH doesn't use a simple "Patch" logic like most game.

If you try starting CoH directly from Steam it will launch the coh.exe which does not verify that the game is in the current valid version.

To start coH correctly you need to start the COHUpdater.exe (you should normally get that message when trying to start from the CoH.exe). This "updater" will contact the CoH version server and confirm that you are using the latest version. Once thats done it will grant you access or download the new version if needed.

This is my DB/WP scrapper build. I went for +hp +regen. There is also a bit of defense and some good resist. I've out lived a couple of tanks with this build.
