speak "Quebecois" in 40 example...
When I lived in upstate New York as a wee lad, my family made the trek up to Montreal for a weekend one year. Don't remember much about it except it was grey and dingy and I couldn't read the signs.
Not sure what brought this thread on, but thanks for the tips, lol.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
just a friend who sent it to me. I found it funny enough that I wanted to share it.
The improper response in a bar full of Quebecois is "Mercy Buckets." It will get you hurt, possibly maimed.
yeah none of these are the proper translation. But for people who speak french and english it 's funny to see how badly we can massacre the language and still understand each other.
This being said, do any of you have funny translation similar? Or expression used that really shouldn't be used?
When my daughter was much younger, the following was a common, repeated conversation between the two of us:
"What does a cow say?"
"Moo!"
"What does a dog say?"
"Woof!"
"A pig?"
"Oink!"
"A frog?"
"Bonjour!"
She's part French and finds this hilarious.
