Ok so since I couldn't fix my weird crashing issue. I basically bought a new computer.

I7 930, 2.8ghz
Asus P6t-SE
Mushkin 6gb DDR3 ram 1600mhz
Sapphire 5770 1gb 256bit

Now I've been with Nvidia for quite some time so I wanted to make sure what I should expect of this ATI. IS there any driver issue I should know about, driver version to avoid..etc?

I know ATI have some issue still with CoH but as long as the game doesn't crash like the last one.. i'll be happy with whatever I need to disable..

lessee... the only outstanding issue with ATi and CoH as of right now is Ambient Occlusion and Antialiasing are borked on the RadeonHD 5000 series cards.

Atop Windows CoH's Ultra Mode works across 10.1, 10.4, 10.5, and 10.6.

I just returned to the game after a year or so break and am using the 5770 card. Like the post above me stated I have noticed issues with the FSAA causing a black screen and forcing me to do a hard reboot. All the other eye candy had no problems running on my system and it looks great at 1080p without FSAA enabled.

Enabling FSAA alone shouldn't cause issues.

What driver version are you using? What OS? Are you fully up to date on Service Packs and Windows Updates?

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Can you tell me where you got your hands on a 256 bit 5770?

Likely somewhere in Canada or that ships to Canada.

Quebec people have to be exceptional, they aren't even allowed to enter our contests like the rest of the Canadians (providing they can do math).

Right here

Anyway right now it seems that the Mobo doesn't support the 930 out of the box and needs a Bios update... I don't really mind that except for the part where I don't have a 920 lying around to update the bios....

Did you get it at PC Cyber as well? And is one of their stores close enough to drive to? If so, take it to them and have them update the BIOS and let them know about the issue so they don't sell it to others that way.

yeah I got all the parts there and I was planning on going back today when they open. It's kinda sad since I didn't want the 930 at first as the price/performance wasn't justifiable but I was still charged for it ( the guy forgot to change the order back to the 920) yet they had given me the 920 lol. So I went back and got the 930 instead.... which doesn't work now.

That's a misprint by the way. Found that board with the same manufacturer ID number (11163-02-20R) on Sapphire's Italian website and they confirm it's only 128-bit, like every other HD 5770 so no super special secret HD 5770 built off of a cut down 5830 or some other marketing malarkey. Also the UPC code is the same as the US Sapphire model 100283-3L. And as for a triple check Zipzoomfly ties both the ID and model number together on the same page.

ah well, at least it works lol

On a side note I noticed I am completely unable to dual-box with this computer. I can't even get 1fps if I try loading both instance. I used to do it on a 8800gt so the 5770 should be able to handle it without issues.

I tried the /maxinactivefps and /maxfps tricks but even then it wouldn't render more than 1fps. Anyone got an idea of why that would be?

I'm using the latest drivers. 10.6 I believe it is. Windows 7 x64 ultimate and yes the pc is updated regularly. I should note that AO is turned on as well. It may be a mixture of the two things that was causing the black screen but running with FSAA turned off I am able to run everything else on at least high settings.
