I, personally, have my prot bots slotted with the two pet-aura uniques, Sovereign Right's Acc/End, a heal IO and a two defence IOs. I find one heal gives a good balance between "amount healed" and "frequency healed", two defence IOs give bubbles of around 11.5 (and thus 23 with two, which softcaps the Battle Drones and Assault Bot when coupled with aura, Force Field Generator and Manoeuvres), and a little bit of accuracy and endurance reduction never hurt anyone.
I'm also a Mastermind that uses personal attacks, so whatever my Prot Bots are lacking in damage, I make up for them. Worst case scenario, I'm Traps, so I can toe-bomb with Trip Mines (I can't count the number of times I've finished off a tough mob petless thanks to Trip Mine.) -
I'd like to see something like the finale of Vincent Ross's arc, except balanced to not need a "cheat" power for the player, become slightly more staple for Incarnate characters running solo. Getting to play Archvillain and being a definite match for eight heroes was definitely the high-point of my week, and I really want to do more of that.
My two Incarnates are definitely awesome characters, both capable of running at x8 with little undue difficulty and throwing around their weight like champions, but even that doesn't really stack up to the crowning moment of awesome in Vincent Ross's arc. And the thing is, with Incarnates, that's the sort of thing their every day is supposed to be like. Incarnates are billed as Superman, Green Lantern, Professor X and Magneto. When these characters act, the world trembles. We need arcs that reflect that. -
Isn't calling out NPCs on their horrible outfits Equation's job?

No runners when I ran it with my Electric Armour/Dark Melee Tanker. I loved when Overdrive's team showed up and I got to play Archvillain. That was awesome.

If I had any internets left to give away, Flarstux would win one.

Slot for recharge first and foremost because MMs are the only ones that don't get a permanent fluffy by default (it takes 100% recharge to perma fluffy).
After that, slot for to-hit debuff, because all his powers have that (and thus you get the most out of him for that.)
Set-wise, you can slot whichever to-hit debuff set has the set bonuses you like most, though I'd still err for those with more Recharge bonuses. -
Quote:You're secretly Silver Mantis, aren't you?Silver Mantis...everything you find creepy she enjoys...I'ld imagine at least one super has beaten her badly enough that when she recovered she found where they lived and showed up while they were sleeping to do it over again. I leave it up to you to imagine how she woke them up.

Holy carp! That actually is good!

After this thread, I'm starting to think FF is overhyped. Sure, it can soft-cap a team, but it's a one trick pony, and my favourite set (and thus one many of my characters have) is Traps, so I'm already touting along a 20-25% defence bonus with FFG and Manoeuvres, so why do I need FF when someone else (another Traps or a Cold, or a couple VEATs) will do just fine?
FF's big problem is that there are so many other sources of defence out there that FF is just a waste. -

Quote:Because the effects of the alpha slot are not reflected by global bonuses, but by enhancement bonuses. You'll see the differences if you check your powers in the enhancement management screen (recharge reduction on powers where you have none slotted, for instance, or higher numbers on powers where you do.)I just slotted the 1st tier of spiritual into my alpha slot on my troller - I had his combat attribute for overall recharge being monitored at the time and I noticed that when I slotted it the number didn't move at all - why would that be?
Quote:Second, on an SR character, if one is at the soft cap for defense is it worth slotting the alpha for defense anyway? Since so many teams run vs. +3s and such I notice I am getting pounded even at the soft cap. Wouldn't the extra def help against DE, AVs, etc? -

Whenever I team with my VG mates (surprise, I'm in a VG! I'm a co-founder of it, in fact), they always get confused because they don't monitor the Help Channel; meanwhile, I am constantly on the help channel, chatting randomly and giving advice and answers to anyone that asks. I spend almost as much time on the help channel as I do bashing enemies, to the point where last night I kept a GM waiting for about five minutes because I got distracted by a question on HC.
I solo almost exclusively, only teaming with my VG mates, but I still utilise the game's multiplayer aspect constantly. Soloing doesn't mean I'm not being multiplayer. It just means I'm playing an awesome super-powered character that can take out small armies by herself. -

I do not deny that you do awesome things with Dominators, Binju. I just have no idea how you do it. I think it's magic.

I've never failed to defeat Trapdoor without problem, and I still think it's a bad idea to take away tactics from players that need them to defeat him.
Just because I'm awesome doesn't mean I need to go around crowing that other people aren't. -
Quote:This is why I hate people. And why, frankly, I have no desire at all to ever team with you or people like you. I wouldn't associate with you in real-life; why should I be forced to associate you in a game? The basic premise is that it's a team game and if your schedule doesn't fit that then it sucks to be you.
Statesman tried to sell this game as a "team game", and the customers he got made a pretty clear message that they were sick of "team games" and wanted to feel a bit more super while playing at superheroes - so the dev team got it right when they designed villains, making the ATs far more "stand on your own". As long as he was here, however, he kept trying to push that "team game" concept, and it never took hold.
He's gone now, and the game's better than it's ever been. The era of "team game" is long past, and it's high time folks stopped trying to use that as an excuse to be jerks to people that disagree with them. -
Quote:That's only because the LRSF is full of "cheating damn computer" set-ups and confuse allows players to take advantage of the computer's cheating for themselves. So far Dominators are the only AT capable of soloing the LRSF which to me is 'as powerful as everyone says it is'.
Control sets without confuse cannot do this. -
Sam, it actually sounds to me like you ran the TF with the level debuff. You have to have an enhancement slotted in your alpha slot to avoid it, not just have it unlocked.
The numbers you're posting really making it sound like this is the case. Is this the case? If so, you were fighting at -8, not -4. -
Controls. Troller or Dom, I've never seen the appeal that brings people to either of these archetypes. Controlling just doesn't seem to be nearly as powerful as everyone says it is.

One of my Incarnates is the Brute version of my namesake character. Instead of building robots, she's now built herself a battlesuit. It seems to fit really well for me.
It could be I watched too much anime like Bubblegum Crisis when I was younger, though.
